2 Air Conditioner problem of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 11/01/2020

For the past 2 weeks my radio changes stations back and forth, the air conditioner goes high to low real fast but today really scared me I put on my blinker to turn left and it started switching right to left and the car behind me was fixing to go around me on the right side and when it switched to the right it scared him and he slammed on his breaks and the car behind him almost hit him. Also, sometimes when I put it in reverse it kinda jumps into reverse. The back arch hasn't been wanting to close either when I push the button all of the thugs happen while just starting it to going anywhere.

3 Air Conditioner problem of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 10/29/2020

Infotainment system keeps rebooting, goes into boot mode even while driving. Caused total distraction to the driver while driving with sudden full blast of air condition or volume going up and down without control. This is a full safety issue as at one point my daughter was driving and the speedometer went totally blank at night. All problems gradually started in October 2020. In the latest safety related issue the Jeep was no longer drivable as the infotainment system was draining the battery. The Jeep had to be jumped started multiple times during the day and got stranded on the side of the road.

4 Air Conditioner problem of the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 02/03/2020

After only 350 miles my engine started sputtering and had to pull over. By the time we stopped the car the sputtering was violently shaking the vehicle. We had to get it towed only for the dealer ship to take several hours to replace a spark plug. - at almost all time there the air conditioner never seems to get to the desired temperature for more than 20 seconds. When at a stop, the a/c is non existence and temps drop significantly. Unless you have it set to max a/c it will never feel cold/hot. - the transmission is extremely rough at all times, it can jerk you back and forth while it switches gear.

6 Air Conditioner problem of the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 08/08/2019

I was parked and when I went started my car the air conditioner air felt hot - I quickly realized the air was blowing and stayi g hot, not cooling down. My 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee only has 39,400 miles and the airconditioner has gone out. I called my redlands CA dealer, they said it is no longer covered under the basic 36,000 mile warranty. It's too soon for a major component like air conditioning to go out!.

7 Air Conditioner problem of the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 06/19/2019

At 70000 miles, my air conditioning system began to hiss and not operate fully. I am told it has a leak in the system but as I look online, this is a common Jeep problem for 2015 models. They are recommending a system replacement on a 4 yr old vehicle (at the time of first occurrence). Normal wear and tear. No off road use. It's not isolated.

8 Air Conditioner problem of the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 04/11/2019

Air conditioning messed up so we took it in. Was told it is the evaporator coil needs to be replaced. The part is on national back order which sounds to me like this is an issue a lot of Jeep owners are dealing with. The air conditioning blows hot air and makes a sound like it is cutting off and then back on. It happens whether we are parked or in motion. We have less than 30,000 miles on our car too so this seems like it's just a problem that is happening with this particular vehicle.

9 Air Conditioner problem of the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 03/01/2019

I purchase my 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 5. 7 liter engine in January 2017. For nearly two years it was fine but then it started stalling. It stalled at least 15 times in the last year. It usually stalls when slowing down for traffic or a red light but can also stall after having been stop for red light, or upon acceleration from a red light~ on rare occasion it has happened while driving 40 to 50 miles per hour. There is no indication the car has stalled until you try to accelerate, steer, or brake, as the air conditioner and radio remain unaffected. I've taken the Jeep to my dealership numerous times and they have been unable to resolve the issue. They first thought it was a fuel pump so they put a new fuel pump in. A few weeks after installing a fuel pump it stalled again so I brought it back and they reinforce the connection. A few weeks later it stalled again so they had me bring the car in and they attached a black box to it that functions much like an airplane's black box which recordes data. I drove it around without incident for about 5 weeks and we thought we had the problem solved. Of course 2 weeks later it stalled again so I brought it back. They reinstall the black box and had their work is used the Jeep as their daily commute trying to trip a code. It took a while but about a month later they finally got a code for a wiring issue. Fortunately, since it wasn't covered in my extended warranty, and at great expense to them, they replaced the main wiring harness. It worked for about 6 weeks and then stalled again. They said they've done everything they know to do and offered to give me a high trade-in value for the Jeep to get me out of this unsafe vehicle.

10 Air Conditioner problem of the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 06/03/2018

I keep getting a message that states the 911 system needs maintenance. Shortly after I started getting that message, when starting my Jeep my screen will stay blank for about 3-5 minutes before coming on. When it is blank the vehicle will switch between air conditioning and heat, high fan and low fan speed. When the screen is blank I am unable to do anything. . . . . Even using the buttons below the screen do not work.

13 Air Conditioner problem of the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 06/01/2017

The air conditioning went out on my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Apparently this is a common problem with these vehicles. The dealer's service writer immediately told me that 85% of the time when the a/c goes out in this vehicle it's the evaporator inside the car behind the dash. Upon further examination by the repair technician that's what needed to be replaced. I asked if they replace the evaporator with the same part and he said no, they now use a different sku replacement evaporator. Obviously, Jeep is aware of this problem and has made changes to fix it. However, in my case Jeep won't pay for the replacement saying my vehicle with 45,000 miles is past the warranty period. It's my position that Jeep used a defective evaporator in the first place and it's only my bad luck that it did not start leaking freon sooner. Apparently the evaporator is not *that* expensive but it is located in a difficult location to get to, behind the dashboard, and that makes it an expensive repair ($1,680). I believe Jeep/Chrysler should pay for this repair at a minimum, and failing that, a recall should be put into effect.

14 Air Conditioner problem of the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 03/31/2017

I bought the vehicle nearly 2 years ago and it has had this problem intermittently. At least once a week, the radio/phone/navigation panel will not start when the car does. So I have no heat or air conditioning, no back up camera, no radio, no handsfree phone. This situation usually lasts about 5 minutes but eventually will start. I have not been to the dealership to see about it so I don't know what it is. But this has the potential to be very dangerous for me. I am a realtor and I've put 70k miles on my car in the past year. I am in it all the time and I need these features to work. I bought this particular vehicle used and I love everything about it, except this. Please do a recall on this feature. I'm not the only person that has had these problems.

15 Air Conditioner problem of the 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 06/18/2016

Vehicle has had the ignition recall done. In the hot weather, you can't run the air conditioning as the car will indiscriminately stall when you come to either a stop light or a yield. Car has to be put in park and restarted. Last week, when merging onto a highway, rpms went all the way down. Had to floor the car to get going and it knocked very hard. Had Jeep dealer look at this several times and they keep saying there's nothing wrong with the car. There is a problem here that Jeep is not addressing. They don't want to give a fair buy back price on the car, knowing we have a 19 year old driving the vehicle. Our local mechanic has said this is a very unsafe car and he wouldn't put his family in it. Jeep dealers don't want to face the problem or address it. This has been an issue for over a year, but becomes more apparent in summer months of hot weather.

Sitting in parking lot with air conditioner on & suddenly ac started blowing hot air. Climate control automatically turned itself off. When I turned it to max ac it blew cold air. Then I returned it back to ac and it blew cold air again. Approximately 2 weeks later, mph at 60, same thing happened. 20 Air Conditioner problem of the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 12/21/2013

•approximately twenty nine (29) days after purchasing the vehicle I began to have trouble with the 911 button on the rearview mirror flashing red which would lead to a message on the navigation screen which read “vehicle phone requires service contact dealer”. •the vehicle has been returned to the dealer for service on 12/21/13, 5/17/14, 7/21/14 and 7/29/14 for this 911 button issue on 5/17/14 said vehicle was returned to the crowley service dept. For the same problem of the 911 button flashing and the message on the navigation screen reading “vehicle phone requires service contact dealer. ” on 7/21/14 said vehicle was again brought to the crowley service dept. For a multitude of issues: •again the 911 light on the rearview mirror was flashing and the navigation screen read “vehicle phone requires service contact dealer”. •the airbag light on the dashboard was illuminated: •the seatbelt indicators for both driver and passenger were lit up and would not stop “dinging” regardless of proper use or there not being a passenger in the seat •the rpms would suddenly skyrocket and the vehicle would make a “vroom” noise while the digital screen read “service shifter”: •the air conditioning system was blowing warm air. On 7/29/14 said vehicle was returned to the crowley service dept. For a completely non-functional a/c system. On 7/31/14, after having the vehicle back from the crowley service dept for less than 24 hours, I attempted to answer a phone call using the bluetooth software in said Jeep. The in dash phone displayed on the navigation screen no longer rings to notify the driver of an incoming call. Attempts to select the green button to answer the calls lead to a transfer of audio from bluetooth to the handheld device, (illegal to use while driving in CT), and the call is terminated.

21 Air Conditioner problem of the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 08/01/2013

Initially, I took the car (2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee) to the dealer due to a rough idle, a shaking that had not occurred before. They dismissed it saying it was due to us running the air conditioning during the summer. I then ran the car with out the ac on and it still occurred. Next, the car began cranking and not starting. I looked up the symptoms on the internet and saw many others had problems with the Jeep/Chrysler tipm part. I took the car back to the dealer, described the problem, and asked them to look in to the tipm also as others were having the same problem. The diagnosed the problem as "two codes" that needed to be updated and not the tipm. Within 24 hours, the car did not start and cranked again. For the third time, I took the car to the dealer. They then reported it could either be the fuel pump or the tipm. ( I told them that was what I had asked for them to look at the last visit. ) they then determined it is the tipm, and the needed part will not be available until 9-25-13, leaving me car less until that time. My extended warranty only covers a 5 day rental and Chrysler has thus far refused to provide a rental until the part is received. Thank you.

23 Air Conditioner problem of the 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 06/13/2011

The blower to the heater and air conditioning went out. I have had it replaced 2 times in less than 3 years. Now its out again. It's difficult to drive in winter with no blower to a heater and difficult in summer with no blower to the air conditioning. A mechanic I went to said he has seen multiple Jeeps with this same issue. He believes it may be the cable wires due to the nearness to the engine and they were not big enough to handle the heat. Is this true? he also thought Jeep was aware of this issue. If so, how do I get this fixed so it works properly and not go out every year? every once in a "blue moon" the blower will come on for a couple seconds but will not stay on.
