1 Carrier/rack problem of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 05/06/2023

The worse thing that has happened is I started my car with my grandbaby in her carseat, I hopped out to lock my house door and the car went into reverse and ran into barbwire fence, this has happened twice. A total of 3 times my car has slammed on the bracks while backing out of the drive way barley moving it almost gave me whiplash. My radio jumps around channels, I have reported in the past but has gotten worse and started turning on the heater on high and I cant stop it.

2 Carrier/rack problem of the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 03/14/2021

The oil filter housing is cracked and it is a known issue with my vehicle. One morning there was a large amount of oil under my vehicle. At this time there are so many open issues with this defected part that I am unable to get this part cause there are 5800 people in line before me waiting for this part. I am unsure where to start to have this recalled but I would like to move in the direction of having that done. Please help! I need to have this done? I read online that there was a possible petition started for this very issue.

And emergency break was applied to stop the truck. . Fender and ball joints and otors were damage as well as the shocks I believe. . .

My 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo 4x4 "s grille cowl is cracking so bad that it is making a howling noise when you are driving down the road. It has been gradually getting worse. It is to the point now that it needs to be replaced. I feel it should be covered by Jeep.

7 Carrier/rack problem of the 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 02/07/2020

My interior handles on all 4 doors have been cracked for years but now they are completely crumbled. At first, I had to open the door for passengers in the rear seats, then, whomever was in my passenger seat, they had to wait for me to go around & open the door for them. They could not get out from the inside. It was a hassle but I mostly drive alone, so I tolerated it. As of yesterday, I now have to open my window, (drivers side), to open my door from the outside because it's crack to the point, that I can't open my door from the inside any longer. It's a very unsafe situation. If I was in an accident & needed to get out I wouldn't be able to. Years ago, the Jeep dealership in clearwater, FL. Was going to replace door panels, to replace the handles, but the district mgr that ok'd was transferred & the new district mgr. Refused. This is unacceptable, could be a matter of life & death. I'm hoping & praying you will do something to remedy this. If not, I'm thinking of calling the local news. All 4 interior door opening handles have cracked, broken & crumbled. Door handles are totally inoperable. This is a dangerous safety issue in an emergency situation driver & passengers will not be able to exit the vehicle, causing serious injury or death! manufacturer safety recall warranted!.

8 Carrier/rack problem of the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 01/12/2020

My 2014 diesel Grand Cherokee has had emissions for the past 3+ years. On 12/9/19 they changed the particulate filter and right after that there was exhaust smells coming through the vents. The dealership attempted to fix this smell in late December and then again in January. They found a cracked valve cover on 1/10/20 and fixed that. I was then driving the car on 1/12/20 and it started on fire and was destroyed. Chrysler investigated the crash and determined that it was not a manufacturing problem.

9 Carrier/rack problem of the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 01/10/2020

The passenger active head restraint activated June 2019 on my Jeep gc due to the plastic tabs on the headrest that hold the metal pin in place breaking. The pin was still held by the solenoid as it never activated. The design of this has constant spring tension on the pin and small plastic tabs fastening it to the headrest. Both sides broke activating the headrest. I fixed that one now today the drivers side headrest failed the same way. Luckily it broke while the car was sitting in the parking lot not while I was driving it. There are numerous complaints about this on online Jeep forums. I am not expecting anything to come from this but want to formally document this in hope of preventing a serious accident. The headrest design is simple in form; however, the materials used lack the strength to retain the constant spring tension long term. A simple metal bracket would alleviate the strain on the plastic tabs. I have photos if anyone would like to see them.

10 Carrier/rack problem of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 08/25/2019

At a stoplight I pressed on the brakes and they were too hard to push down as I look to make sure I was in drive which I know I was and I was I was in dr. And they were still too hard to push down so I put it in park put it back and drive it pushed out at first and then chyna kicked me back really hard so I did that one more time and they finally engaged and we're working sunroof track keeps going off problems with bluetooth connection to iphone constantly wheels we are out very very quickly at 17,000 miles can already feel transmission slipping.

11 Carrier/rack problem of the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 07/16/2019

I got into my parked vehicle after work, and noticed the passenger headrest was pushed forward, which was not the case when I parked it to go into work. Upon further inspection, the plastic bracket that holds the headrest in appeared to be broken. This is a safety hazard as I am now worried that the driver headrest will also pop and lead to a collision. This is not the first reported incidence of this occuring, and it needs to become a recall.

12 Carrier/rack problem of the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 06/22/2019

My engine light has decided to light up in my Jeep randomly one day after starting it. After scanning it, it shows code p0522. The research I have done has shown it usually shows the oil light when it is that code. So as a result, I have had my oil changed again and I have ordered a oil pressure sensor/sender hoping that will fix all my problems which will be installed next Sunday (7/7/2019). I also had to change the water pump because it had a crack in it, the thermostat just for precautionary measures, and the belt because it had a tear in it about half the size of the width. All of this to try to figure out the problem with the engine light and the scanner showing the code p0522. So we will see if that actually fixes the problem.

13 Carrier/rack problem of the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee

14 Carrier/rack problem of the 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 01/31/2019

I live in michigan, we had snow and very cold conditions last week (January 31 2019), I was loading groceries into the back of my Jeep at my grocery store and the hatch failed to stay open. The corner of the hatch hit me in the head when it came down. I didn't realize it at the time, but I had cracked my head open and needed to get staples to close the wound. I wasn't sure if the struts of the hatch were bad or if it was weather related, but it could have been even worse had it hit me in a different location.

15 Carrier/rack problem of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 08/06/2018

My 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee trailhawk's sunroof suddenly exploded while driving 60 mph on the freeway during a hot summer day. I heard an initial loud crack sound and moments later the front sunroof glass shattered outward. I was able to get to the side of the road before the glass showered into my vehicle and over my head. I shut the sunscreen which helped, but there was millions of glass shards and fragments all over the inside of my car and throughout the ceiling. This vehicle only has ~6500 miles on it and was purchased in March 2018 brand new. I had the car towed on a flatbed truck to the dealer that I purchased it from and since, it's been in and out of the shop 3 times. The dealer replaced the front sunroof glass, seals and vacuumed out my car, however the day after picking it up, massive amounts of glass remained in the ceiling area. The second attempt and cleaning up the glass, they had to removed the interior header and seats to try and extract all the broken glass fragments. I'm taking the car back in for the 4th time, because there is still broken glass shifting around between the sunroof and sunscreen. The repairs have thus far been covered by warranty (manufactured defect), but this brand new vehicle is ruined. I'll be working with Chrysler customer care to see what my options are and if they will offer a new replacement vehicle or buy back. Very scary and grateful no one was seriously hurt. . . I'm very disappointed and frustrated to say the least and the saga continues.

16 Carrier/rack problem of the 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 06/29/2018

Inside door handle cracked and broken came out the other morning to passenger inside handle cracked and barely holding on or working.

17 Carrier/rack problem of the 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 06/28/2018

Plastic surrounding all 4 door handles cracking. Front passenger door handle inoperable due to cracking.

18 Carrier/rack problem of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 05/31/2018

Complained of an oil leak(oil marks on the garage floor and cardboard place to verify) prior to 7500 miles. Dealership unable to find the oil leak the first time. Took it back 1 week later to complain about an oil leak. Dealership placed dye into oil to find the leak. Leak was found to be the seal between the engine and transmission. When dealership went to replace seal, they stated the block was cracked due to "being machined during the assembly". Now waiting for a new engine to be replaced on a new vehicle of 4 months. Ouch!.

19 Carrier/rack problem of the 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 05/01/2018

All 4 interior door handles have cracked and broken the interior component (involving the handle mechanism). The rr handle is unusable and will need to be replaced immediately. The addition interior handles are cracked but remain usable at this time but will soon fail. The design of this model as well as similar Jeep models is a common failure. This can be considered a potential safety failure if the handle completely fails and passengers unable to open the door resulting in injury or even death during an accident.

20 Carrier/rack problem of the 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

22 Carrier/rack problem of the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 11/09/2017

The sunroof on my 2014 Jeep grande cherokee srt spontaneously exploded as I was driving 70mph on interstate 5 in oregon. Traffic was minimal at 3:45 pm. It was 54 degrees outside and the weather was clear. It had rained earlier in the day. The explosion sounded like a gunshot blast in my ear. It was very scary and extremely dangerous. There was absolutely no warning, no cracks, no leaks. I did have the automatic cover open to let light in, but the sunroof itself was closed. The glass exploded up and out, so I am fortunate that I only had a dusting of glass that fell around me. Definitely, the most frightening experience I have ever had while driving.

23 Carrier/rack problem of the 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 10/26/2017

The inside plastic around all door handles is cracked and broken. I'm finding this is a common problem and can be dangerous as it effects the handles and being able to get out in case of emergency. I, myself, have problems opening the back doors. And now the passenger front door handle is about to break.

24 Carrier/rack problem of the 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 08/19/2017

Interior door handle (rear passenger) broke while child was opening door to exit the vehicle. Front handles are showing cracking as well. Rear seat passenger is unable to open door and must be let out from the external handle. This is a safety issue and could cause passenger to become trapped during an accident.

25 Carrier/rack problem of the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 07/06/2017

I was driving and heard what almost sounded like an explosion. I pulled off the road and realized my sunroof had exploded. The sunroof had no prior chips or cracks. As seen in the photos, the glass had exploded by the size of the hole. Thankfully, I had the canvas closed, at the time and glass did not fall in. However, I am concerned for the safety of other Jeep owners and other vehicles on the road.

26 Carrier/rack problem of the 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 05/23/2017

This model Grand Cherokee has the same problem as the 07-and up. The wireless ignition module fails. I have been stranded 5 times, that's 5 tows- the dealership originally thought I was part of that recall, but had to back track. I was told "it's not broken enough" it is the same exact part as the p57 recall for the 07, so why not for the 05? there are numerous complaints from customers regarding this issue and the dealerships telling us to go away after we spend money on parts that are clearly not the issue.

27 Carrier/rack problem of the 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 12/01/2016

Plastic around the door handle cracked. Handle is dangling. Very dangerous. If the handle snaps my family and I could be trapped in the vehicle. Many complaints on line with same circumstances. There is no recall. Which is ridiculous. Dealer wants 850$ to fix problem. Outrageous. If someone gets trapped in vehicle, someone can die. Thank you, michael burleigh.

28 Carrier/rack problem of the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 10/26/2016

I bought my vehicle new from a dealership. It had 3,600 miles on it when I found this problem. The navigation screen cracked spontaneously which make some of the function of the touch screen unusable, heat, defroster, navigation. This is the 8. 4an model. Chrysler says it is caused by damage and will not cover the repair. I did not damage this unit. I don't know when this crack occurred, you can only see it when the light hits the screen just right and you can not feel the crack even with a fingernail. I only discovered it because suddenly the defroster for the back window would not turn off using the screen. I have called Chrysler customer service and they are going to call the dealership and try to come to some sort of resolution.

29 Carrier/rack problem of the 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 07/15/2016

I had the recalled ignition switch put in in may and it was shaking when I picked it up, then I would lose electrical power to the radio, now it stalled and will not start, looks like the block is cracked. I have only had this for 3 years and paid 16,000. 00 for it obviously it was an internal issue.

30 Carrier/rack problem of the 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 07/07/2016

The airbag light is on Chrysler says they need to be fixed and do not work also the backing of the door handles have all cracked and broke the doors do not open from the inside due to the backing that holds the door handles together have all cracked and broke.

31 Carrier/rack problem of the 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 05/15/2016

Cause of failure: interior door handle has stress cracked and is broken. There are no signs of abuse, impact damage or after market modifications. **note that the interior door handle is serviceable only as an interior door panel assembly**correction: installed replacement interior door handle assembly to correct concern. This problem started with the driver's side interior door handle. The plastic cup behind the door handle cracked and eventually shattered leaving shards behind that cut my hand when I opened the door. The remaining three door handles have all done the same thing. This is a safety issue. Exiting the Jeep Grand Cherokee in an emergency situation with the door handles not working properly would be delayed, or in the case of a child, impossible.

32 Carrier/rack problem of the 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 05/14/2016

All 4 of my door handle panels are cracked and broken. The back doors r so bad you can't open them to get out. It's gradually happened overtime. We have only had our Jeep for 1 year and 5 months. It gets worse every time we use it obviously and it's our family vehicle. Hope you can help. This shouldn't happen with a Jeep vehicle. Very disappointed. Hope something can be fixed. Thanks.

33 Carrier/rack problem of the 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 04/16/2016

My husband went to exit the vehicl and the passenger door handle broke. We are now not able to open the door from the inside or the outside because of this. Very cheaply made and falling apart prior to completely breaking off. Door is now unusable until I pay a few hundred dollars to have repaired!! this could be extremely dangerous in the event of an accident!! it is only a matter of time before the drivers side does the same as the interior plastics of the actual handle are already completely broken out. The pieces literally crack and fall out! the only fix at the dealer is to replace the entire door panel and a few hundred dollars each. My car is no longer under warranty so now this is an out of pocket expense since Chrysler decided to use cheap and unreliable parts. The door handle piece is replaceable from an auto parts store. They are $140. 00 each plus labor for someone to do the work. This needs to be a recall!! in doing research there are hundreds of people this is happening to!!!.

34 Carrier/rack problem of the 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 03/07/2016

Front passenger door handle cracked / vech. Has approx 60k miles little use for a 2005.

35 Carrier/rack problem of the 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 03/01/2016

All 4 of my interior door handles have cracked around the door handle itself. The plastic supporting the door handles has broken leaving the door handle useless. There have been numerous complaints with the same issue around the 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee and a recall should have been issued. God forbid a fire occurs the passengers in the car would not be able to exit the vehicle from the inside!!!!!.
