3 Brake Disc Rotor problem of the 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 09/30/2007

I have a 2000 Jeep gc laredo, and along with many, many other people I have numerous problems. The warped rotors are very dangerous when you have to use your brakes, especially when you have children in the car as I do, also the taillight/brake light issue, that has gotten me pulled over more than once, even though I put a new bulb in it every time. The door lock actuator that is very annoying not to mention my transmission has a shifting problem that I can't do anything about and now my radiator fan will not work so my car will overheat if I am stopped for too long.

5 Brake Disc Rotor problem of the 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 07/28/2007

I own a 1999 Grand Cherokee limited Jeep. The front rotor disk has warped due to the heat created when applying the brakes. As a result the steering wheel vibrates violently on the application of the brakes. The rotor & calipers have been changed! when will Chrysler help to resolve an issue, which is obviously a manufacturing fault?.

6 Brake Disc Rotor problem of the 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 07/01/2007

I own a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee that has 2 potentially dangerous issues with it. Due to a manufacturers design flaw, the brake lights malfunction on a regular basis. The light shorts itself out when the headlights are turned on leaving me with no brakes at night. In addition, the door lock actuator in my rear passenger door has broken. Since Jeep saw fit to only provide a key on the drivers door, this rear door neither locks nor unlocks which would result in a potentially lifethreatening situation if I were involved in a wreck and was unable to exit the vehicle from this door. My cooling fan broke, I replaced with a non-oem model which chewed a hole in my radiator after 100 miles. Replaced radiator and fan. Radiator broke after a year, re-replaced. After searching online I found that these are fairly common problems and not the result of some action on my part.

8 Brake Disc Rotor problem of the 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 06/11/2007

While trying to stop, while my foot was on the brake pedal, the engine started racing and was not able to stop, I ended up hitting the car in front of me, 2 car passengers went to the hospital with minor injuries. Contacted Jeep and car was checked by factory expert at local dealer , nothing defective was found with brakes . This has happened 2 times before this accident. Fortunately, I was able to stop. Also I had to replace all 4 rotors with less than 18,000 miles, complained to Jeep and was told that rotors are normal wear and tear item and how long they last depends on your driving habits. I just heard on tv that there is a recall for brake failure, contacted Jeep and was told no, there is no recall at this time. Please let me know if there is a recall on 05 Jeep Grand Cherokee for brake failure. Eq-10203460-4200. Date received 12/12/07 new jersey police report. Updated 12/12/07.

11 Brake Disc Rotor problem of the 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 02/20/2007

The brakes on 2002 Grand Cherokee are very suspect. The dealer replaced them under warranty at 24,000 miles due to warpage of rotors. At 54,000 miles the rotors were turned because of warpage and now at 62,000 they exhibit symptoms of being warped again - worse than before they were last turned. Jeep has obviously only replaced defective parts with defective parts. This creates cost, inconvenience and potential safety hazard to the consumer.

12 Brake Disc Rotor problem of the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 02/20/2007

- the contact stated that the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee's front rotors were warp due to poor caliper design. He needed to upgrade the oe-um on the brake caliper and disc. While driving at 60 mph with dry weather he applied the brakes, but the brake the pedal pulsated abnormally. He took the vehicle to dealership for repairs, but the parts were difficult to find. He returned for repairs twice, but they did not do any thing to vehicle because it was no longer under warranty. The failure mileage was 29500, and the current mileage was 30300.

Failure Date: 02/07/2007

My 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee 6 cyl. 4x4 has had extensive rotor problems leading to replacement of rotors at 19,000 (covered by dealer), 40,000 (at my expense), at 63,520, again at my expense, at 90,000, and now again, replacing all 4 rotors at 363. 50 per set at 112,000 miles. This needs to be recalled and investigated immediately.

14 Brake Disc Rotor problem of the 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 01/15/2007

The front brake rotors have warped for the second time in 42,000 miles. Driving with these warped rotors causes the steering wheel to shake violently and brake application at the wheels to be uneven. The shaking is more pronounced when braking from speeds above 40 mph. This is a very unsafe condition especially on wet or icy surfaces. The dealer refuses to replace the rotors under warranty.

15 Brake Disc Rotor problem of the 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 01/14/2007

Front disc brake rotors warp causing vehicle front end to shake when braking, vehicle has Chrysler's latest and greatest brake pad and rotor kit installed.

16 Brake Disc Rotor problem of the 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 01/03/2007

On 2001 I bought a brand new Jeep Grand Cherokee limited from a Jeep dealer, little after I bought it I noticed a vibration when applying the brakes, but I did not think there was anything wrong, brand new and my first 4x4 I thought it was the way 4x4 works. Until about a year ago that I received a letter about a demand made to Chrysler from some other owners of Grand Cherokees that have the same problem and when they went to have it check at the dealer they were told that there was a problem with an uneven surface of the brake rotors. Chrysler never took any action about this factory defect and denied repair of defect. After I received this letter I took my Jeep to the dealer to have it check and I was told the same problem with the front disk rotors was causing the vibration on my car. I contacted daimlerchrysler by mail on October 2006, asking them to repair the factory defect and they never answer back, then I called them by phone to their customer relations center at 1-800-992-1997 and asked for an answer to my problem but they denied paying for any repair since I was out of the warranty period and I asked for a written decision but it was also denied and only given a reference number 15833938 for my inquire on 1-3-2007. As I said earlier in this letter, I was unaware of any real brake problem with my vehicle until I was contacted by a letter from a third party with the same problem as I dated June 1, 2006. Daimlerchrysler never contacted me about this problem or did any recall on this and that is why I was out of the warranty period. Thank you for reading my complaint and hope something can be done about it so this big corporation take responsibility for their products.

31 Brake Disc Rotor problem of the 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 08/17/2006

After reading almost all complaints with other 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokees, I have to put in my two cents worth. I can relate to almost every complaint that there is. I just had both my front left and right window regulators replaced a month and a half apart, one just today at $327. 00 with my employee discount. (I work for a car dealership) last month, I have had almost $500. 00 worth of repairs for my power steering pump problems. I have had my brake rotors turned and resurfaced and am in need of doing it again. Then on the other hand, I have experienced problems with my dual control panel not working correctly which I have not have repaired yet because I don't have the money for that one and didn't know at the time that it was a problem. Then when my Jeep was under warranty I have had the air conditioner compressor replaced, new battery(for hard or no starting), amongst other repairs that I can't think of at the moment. I have also been experiencing hard starts with my truck and also the transmission not engaging or jumping (accelerating) while switching gears that the Jeep dealer has not been able to recognize as a problem. I feel that those new Chrysler commercials are not up to par as american and german engineering. Those germans know how to build vehicles in the first place and help repair them as the problem seem necessary.

32 Brake Disc Rotor problem of the 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee

34 Brake Disc Rotor problem of the 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 08/02/2006

Due to faulty rotors, calipers, and brakes which resulted in the well documented shimmy in 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredos, I had the dealership replace all components at 70k miles. Now at 121,000; the shimmy is so bad at 40 mph that I nearly lose control of the vehicle. Looks like another expensive brake job to correct an inherent Jeep defect.

35 Brake Disc Rotor problem of the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 08/01/2006

Car was pulsating and shaking terribly when brakes were applied at 18,000 miles. Was told I needed new rotors and that they are not covered under warranty. I told the repair manager there was no way I paid $33,000 for my Grand Cherokee and was paying $600 to get new rotors every year. I called Chrysler and they said they would repair under warranty. At 29,000 miles, I have been told that I need new rotors again. Called Chrysler again and. . . Too bad they are not covered. This is bull, there is no way I would spend $33,000 on a car that needs to have rotors replaced yearly. I will never buy another Jeep and its too bad, I had no brake issues with my last one.
