1 Service Brakes problem of the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 06/08/2026

During a standard service, the servicing dealership (lester glenn Jeep, tom’s river,NJ) failed to perform the mandatory factory electronic scan bleed required for the electronic brake booster (ebb) and abs/esc modules. This critical omission left unpurged fluid and internal system aeration trapped deep inside the electronic braking components, severely compromising the vehicle's stopping integrity and creating an immediate safety hazard. The safety omission was caught and documented via a secondary diagnostic scan by another authorized Jeep servicing facility (pine belt Jeep, lakewood,NJ ), which had to perform the corrective electronic scan bleed to restore proper braking functionality and make the vehicle safe for public roads.

3 Service Brakes problem of the 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 06/04/2026

I purchased a new 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee on may 9, 2026. On June 4, 2026, less than one month after purchase, the vehicle experienced a sudden brake system failure while I was driving. The brake pedal became hard and unresponsive, the abs warning lights illuminated, and the vehicle had very limited stopping power. Fortunately, I was able to safely drive the vehicle to the dealership without an accident or injuries. The dealership diagnosed the problem as a failed brake booster (part # 68734134ab) requiring replacement. However, the replacement brake booster is on backorder, and stellantis has confirmed that there is currently no estimated delivery date and no assigned distribution for the part. As a result, my vehicle has been out of service for 4 weeks with no repair timeline. Stellantis has acknowledged that this involves a critical safety component but has been unable to provide a meaningful resolution beyond monitoring the backorder. I continue to make lease payments, insurance payments, and other vehicle-related expenses for a brand-new vehicle that I cannot safely operate because of a warranty-covered safety defect. This is a serious safety concern because the failure involved the vehicle's braking system and significantly reduced the vehicle's ability to stop. Had this occurred at highway speeds or in heavy traffic, the consequences could have been catastrophic. I am submitting this complaint because I believe this brake system failure warrants investigation to determine whether it affects other 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles and whether the lack of availability of replacement brake boosters for a critical safety component creates an ongoing risk to consumers. A vehicle with a brake system failure should not remain out of service indefinitely because a safety-critical replacement part is unavailable.

4 Service Brakes problem of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 05/31/2026

I was backing up my trailer and placed the Jeep in park and set emergency brake while on an incline. I got out of the Jeep and the vehicle proceeded to roll away approximately 3 feet. I jumped back towards the drivers seat to press the brake to stop it from rolling down the hill.

5 Service Brakes problem of the 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 05/25/2026

While flat towing this vehicle there was a failure that caused the brakes to melt down and almost start a vehicle fire. The proper process for flat towing for both the vehicle and the brake buddy classic 3 system were followed. The dealership would not provide the data log report which would explain the cause of the problem, but just blame the towing system. Under the magnuson-moss warranty act they are required to show proof of the fault.

All the instrument lights illuminated. The brakes were depressed but failed to respond. The driver lost control of the vehicle and clipped an unknown vehicle. And crashed into a concrete barrier. The driver sustained knee, back, and stomach injuries, and medical attention was provided at the emergency room. The airbags deployed. A police report was filed. There was no reported fire. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The vehicle was deemed a total loss. The failure mileage was unknown.

7 Service Brakes problem of the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 05/01/2026

The vehicle is a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee with open safety recalls t59 and v62. The brake warning light is currently illuminated, and based on the symptoms I believe the brake booster may be failing. The braking system is available for inspection upon request. The safety concern is that the vehicle may have reduced braking assist or impaired braking performance while being driven. This creates a risk of increased stopping distance, loss of braking confidence, or inability to stop safely in traffic. I contacted the fca/stellantis-recommended Jeep dealership in lapeer, michigan multiple times this week to schedule recall-related service. I was repeatedly transferred to service voicemail and did not receive return calls. When I called back and asked to speak with someone else, I reached the service manager. I explained that the vehicle has an illuminated brake warning light and that I suspect the brake booster may be failing. The service manager focused on where I lived, why I was not using a closer dealer, and mentioned that the vehicle is 14 years old, rather than clearly arranging recall service or addressing the brake safety concern. The problem has not yet been inspected or confirmed by a dealer because I have been unable to obtain timely service despite repeated attempts. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others. The warning lamp currently present is the brake warning light. The exact first date the warning light appeared was within the last 2 weeks.

8 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 04/24/2026

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated after the dealer had performed the recall repair under NHTSA campaign number: 24v838000 (service brakes, hydraulic); the brakes started making an abnormal squealing sound while driving the same day, and it felt like a part underneath the vehicle was separating. There was no warning light illuminated. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 68,408.

9 Service Brakes problem of the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 04/22/2026

Vehicle has two open unrepaired recalls: t59 (NHTSA 17v-572, brake booster water shield) and v62 (NHTSA 19v-813, fuel pump relay). The brake booster is currently symptomatic — an audible humming noise is present when the vehicle is stopped and idling, consistent with vacuum loss in the brake booster system. I contacted lafontaine Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram of fenton, michigan to schedule the recall repairs. An appointment was set for 8:15 am on April 24, 2026. I requested a loaner or rental vehicle as the dealer indicated they would need to keep the vehicle over the weekend for the work. The dealer never followed up regarding the rental. Instead, the dealer contacted me to appraise my current vehicle and discuss new vehicle inventory. The recall work was never discussed. When I did not appear for the appointment, the dealer did not follow up or offer to reschedule. I then contacted stellantis customer service directly and explained the situation, including the active brake booster symptom. The stellantis representative connected me with a second dealership, bill snethkamp Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram on woodward avenue in detroit, michigan, then disconnected from the call without notice. I was left explaining the situation a second time to a dealership that informed me they do not provide loaner vehicles. The rental option requires me to pay out of pocket upfront and then seek reimbursement from the manufacturer in the form of a check. This is not a viable option. Additionally, this dealership is located approximately one hour from my residence in flint, making it logistically impractical for recall service. I am currently driving a vehicle with an active safety defect affecting the braking system. The recall remedy language states that limited braking ability can cause a crash without prior warning. Neither the manufacturer nor two dealerships have provided adequate accommodation to complete the recall repair while ensuring I have safe transportation during the service per.

10 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 04/14/2026

Our office has received several notices for a recall on this vehicle regarding the anti-lock brake system module. The first notice was post marked 6/3/24 with recall code z48/NHTSA 22v-426. The second notice was for a 94b/NHTSA 24v-838 recall postmarked 12-4-2024 and another employee took it in to a dealership on 2-12-2025 to be repaired. We have received two more notices, one in January 2026 and another in April 2026 with the same recall code. I called the dealership both times and they claimed both times, to not have parts for the recall. This is a federal vehicle used for public service work. We would like to get this resolved so that we do not have any safety issues in the workplace.

11 Service Brakes problem of the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 04/12/2026

While driving the breaks faultered and I had to slam on the break. I had to press all the way down on the break pedal to slow down or stop. Also when stopped at a light the car turns off and puts itself in park. I had to turn the car off and back on again to fix it. My safety and the safety of others was at risk due to chance of a significant car crash due to faulty break system. I had a near miss accident due to this reason. I will be calling the car dealership to tow the car to have it inspected. The abs light came on as well as check engine light. Service power steering light also came on.

13 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 04/05/2026

Subject: vehicle fire following abs recall repair – safety complaint I am filing a safety complaint regarding a vehicle fire that occurred shortly after a recall repair was performed. Vehicle: Jeep (grand cherokee/2019) mileage at time of incident: approximate: 58,350 approximately four weeks ago, my vehicle underwent a recall repair related to the abs system at westgate Jeep located in raleigh, nc 27617. Following that repair, I experienced brake issues due to air in the brake lines, which required a return visit to the same service provider for correction. On April 5, 2026, the vehicle caught fire while parked in my driveway. The fire originated in the front driver-side engine compartment area, where the abs and brake components are located. The fire caused extensive damage to the engine bay, wiring, and surrounding components, rendering the vehicle inoperable. Given the timing and location of the fire, I am concerned that the recall repair or subsequent brake system work was performed improperly leading to either a brake fluid leak or an electrical malfunction or defective parts that caused the fire. This incident presents a serious safety risk, as it could have resulted in injury or loss of life. I am requesting a full investigation into: - the quality and safety of the recall repair performed - whether improper installation, damaged components, or fluid leaks contributed to the fire - whether other vehicles repaired under this recall may be at similar risk the vehicle has not been altered or repaired since the fire and is available for inspection. Supporting documentation (repair invoices, photos, etc. ) can be provided upon request. I respectfully request that this matter be reviewed urgently to prevent potential harm to other drivers.

Prior to the appointment, the vehicle had no warning lights or mechanical failures. Following the recall repair, the instrument panel displayed several warning lights, including 4wd and traction control, which were illuminated, and the message “service esc” was displayed. The dealer denied responsibility for the failures. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 93,000.

16 Service Brakes problem of the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 03/26/2026

The engine power cuts of randomly while driving with no warning at all. When it happens the steering locks up veering the vehicle to the left so you have no control and at the same time the power brakes lock up and you are unable to stop the vehicle. Everything else works when this happens lights, radio, heater, air conditioning. No warning lights display. I had the vehicle with a mechanic that kept it for over 4 months to test drive and see if it would occur. It happened while he drove it but no codes show up to determine the cause. I had it towed back to my home and contacted Jeep Chrysler and they gave me a claim number to bring to my local Jeep dealer. They had it for over a week and unfortunately the Jeep ran fine so once again no resolution to be able to fix. I bought the Jeep from carvana 9/7/24 and am still paying it off but yet haven't been able to drive it for the past 15 months because it is unsafe for myself and anyone else on the roadway.

17 Service Brakes problem of the 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 03/18/2026

Brakes repetitively seize, causing the wheels to overheat and the vehicle to shake while braking, putting the vehicle at risk of fire, reduced brake performance, and brake failure. Two different dealerships have confirmed from the problem at various points, the brakes are "repaired" and then have the same failure with the same components again. There are no warnings that the brakes are seizing other than the smell of burning brakes, or smoke coming from the wheel.

18 Service Brakes problem of the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 03/16/2026

Vehicle previously brought to dealership for recall and reported issue where vehicle abruptly stops/brakes without cause. Dealer did not resolve. On 3/16/26 vehicle came to a complete stop in roadway, shifted into park, and could not be moved into drive, neutral, or reverse. Driver was stranded in a dangerous situation with infant in vehicle. Dealer unable to inspect for weeks and refused loaner. This presents a serious safety hazard.

19 Service Brakes problem of the 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 03/06/2026

I brought my vehicle to the dealership (axis Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram in jersey city, NJ) for open safety recalls. The vehicle has been at the dealership for approximately 3 weeks. I was repeatedly told parts were coming (alternator and brake booster), but the repairs were never completed. I was later told I could pick up the vehicle, but no documentation was provided and I have reason to believe the recall repairs were not performed. This has caused delays, inconvenience, and safety concerns.

20 Service Brakes problem of the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 03/02/2026

On February 28, 2026, while preparing to leave our home with our two children in the vehicle, we experienced a critical vehicle malfunction. Upon attempting to start the car, all dashboard warning lights illuminated, including transmission error, “service needed,” and “automatic emergency braking system needs service. ” the battery warning light was also on. The vehicle would not start initially. After eventually starting the car, we temporarily placed it in neutral and pushed it out of the garage, during which the brakes functioned normally. The vehicle was briefly driven and appeared operational, but due to ongoing safety concerns and multiple recalls, we parked it at the top of our driveway. On the following day, the vehicle would not start again. We arranged for it to be towed to the dealership. On March 2, 2026, when the tow truck arrived, the car’s position prevented loading onto the truck. Multiple jump-start attempts failed initially, then briefly started the vehicle, but it immediately shut off again. We placed the vehicle in neutral using the manual override and tested the brakes, which initially showed stiffness but were operational. While attempting to move the vehicle to allow tow truck access, the brakes suddenly failed. Despite pressing the brake pedal fully and brake lights being illuminated, the vehicle did not stop and rolled uncontrollably into our garage. Consequences: •garage property damage: approximately $11,000 •personal injury: my father-in-law fell while the vehicle rolled out of control •vehicle remains at dealership with an open case, but the situation remains unresolved safety concern: this incident raises serious safety concerns regarding the reliability of the braking system and vehicle electronics. The vehicle became uncontrollable while brakes were applied, posing a direct risk of injury or death to occupants and others. We fear that similar failures could occur under normal driving conditions, including highway speeds.

21 Service Brakes problem of the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 03/01/2026

The vehicle has now experienced two complete electronic system failures while driving at approximately 45 miles per hour. During both events, all dashboard warning lights illuminated, and I lost power steering and brake assist. The engine remained running during the failure, but vehicle control systems were disabled. The first repair was documented as a disconnected electrical component, but the same full failure has occurred again. I consider this a serious safety defect, and I do not feel safe operating the vehicle.

22 Service Brakes problem of the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 02/16/2026

While driving down the road on the highway, the hood randomly popped open, engaging the emergency breaking system extremely harshly. Then the vehicle was unable to shift back into gear. Reported problem to dealer and no codes shown for the incident. Jeep (fca/stelantis) potentially had the system like Volkswagen when it knows it took it up to the diagnostic system to not show codes were an injury or something serious could’ve happened. Warning indicator lights, and all kinds of indicators were going off in the vehicle at the time of incident, but not the very next day from the dealership plugged it into the system.

23 Service Brakes problem of the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 02/15/2026

Travelling with my young daughter on the freeway at freeway speeds at 9pm (nighttime). The entire vehicle just shut down. Everything - completely dark. Steering went out. Brakes went out. I had to get the car to basically drift to a shoulder and slow down gradually in a spot where we would be safely out of the way of traffic. Again no brakes or steering and completely dead. Hazzard lights would not work. I had to get the car towed and get my daughter and all of our stuff out of the car on the freeway at night in the complete dark. Scary stuff. It's an expensive car and 2022 is the first model year of the grand wagoneer. I suspect based on my experience with this car that this model year will have these types of problems going forward. The car has had electrical issues from day 1 and its unsurprising this happened. What is surprising is just how dangerous the situation was when you were in it. It was a shocking experience.

The failure mileage was approximately 94,000.

25 Service Brakes problem of the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 02/08/2026

I am reporting a safety-related issue involving a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee summit 5. 7 hemi. Within days of purchase, the vehicle experienced transmission slipping and delayed shifting, as well as braking issues. These conditions affected drivability and raised safety concerns during normal operation. An independent mechanic found burnt transmission fluid, indicating that the transmission condition likely existed prior to purchase. Although a fluid change provided limited, temporary improvement, delayed shifting continues to occur. Because the transmission behavior and braking issues can affect the safe operation of the vehicle, I am submitting this report so the issue can be documented and evaluated for potential safety trends. This report is being submitted for safety tracking purposes.

30 Service Brakes problem of the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 01/14/2026

Upon starting my Jeep on the coldest day of the year back in January when I pressed the brake pedal to start it there was a loud and it reminded me, there was a recall out for the break booster pop and the pedal went all the way to the floor. It was fifteen below zero out. So I thought that it blew a brake line. I checked the lines going to all four. Wheels and could not find any fluid. I could not figure out where all the fluid went. I refilled the reservoir with two full cans of brake fluid. Tried pumping the pedal and again it went to the floor. Got out and inspected all lines and the reservoir itself. . . . Still could not find a leak. I googled the problem and saw a recall for the brake booster. Said it was installed incorrectly and water could enter the booster and master cylinder and freeze if cold outside and cause a serious accident causing serious injury or death. I inspected the system and water had entered the booster and master cylinder and froze. It ruined the master cylinder. I asked the dealership if they would pick up the vehicle and repair it. First they said yes then no they don't pick vehicles up. They ordered only a little shield to fix the booster per the recall but said that's all they would do. Why would I pay $200 out of my pocket to have the vehicle taken to them. Only to have them put a shield on the booster. I still would have no brakes. That is ridiculous. This is supposed to be a major safety issue. And it is! if I had been driving when I pressed on the brake pedal and it went to the floor I could have been killed or other innocent people could have been killed. You the NHTSA 's answer said Chrysler is contractually. Obligated to not only pick up my vehicle but to repair any and all components of the brake system to return the vehicle to previous safety operation at no charge to me. You also said that I should be given a loaner vehicle to use while mine is repaired. Dealership is refusing. I could be dead and so could other innocent people.

There were previous recalls on both systems that say they have been repaired, but the lights for both are constantly on. The brakes do not work fully, and it has caused me to slide down the street from my workplace. The electronic traction control system not working has caused it so that my four-wheel drive does not work, and I have gotten stuck in the snow multiple times. The car has been inspected by a repair technician. The warning lights came on right as the problem was happening.
