My 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee is having problems like many other people. The low coolant light constantly comes on and I have to add coolant weekly, although there is no visible leak. Mechanics have told me they cannot find the problem until this past week when a mechanic told me the coolant was leaking into my engine and mixing with my oil. The mechanic estimated I will need a completely new engine within a few months since the coolant-oil mixture has been running through my engine for some time now. The mechanic stated that the engine will stop running in the very near future. My rear left brake and tail light goes out when I step on the brakes. I have had several issues with the rotors and finally had the mechanic replace them with a different kind.

I have to be extremely careful when braking as the brake pedal goes too far down and is too close to the accelerator and it is very easy to push on the accelerator while braking. I have nearly ran into other vehicles or even people in a crosswalk while pushing on the brake. Dealer says there are no TSB's or any internal information regarding this problem. Because I am aware ofthe problem I am very careful, but there are times when you just push on the brake and my foot is also hitting the accelerator.

I purchased a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee in 2005 from a used car dealer in albuquerque. At that time no recalls or repairs of any safety related defects were revealed to me. I received a recall in novenber 2006 for cooling fan that I had already had done . Daimler/Chrysler reimbursed me for some of the repairs done. On 4-17-07 I was north bound on unser approaching ladera, traffic was stopped at the red light. I was traveling the speed limit which was posted at 35 mph. I pressed on the brake pedal to begin slowing down and nothing happened. I then slammed my foot down on the pedal it went to the floor and I rear ended a large pickup at the intersection. The air bags did not deploy, and I did not think the seat belt engaged untill I hit the steering wheel with my sternum. My injuries were minor, and I elt the injuries of the person I hit were also minor. The reason I believed thiswas so because I was knocked unconsicience. After some advice from an attourney I checked online for any safty related recalls on the vehicle. I was not surprised to find many. Recall # 200002004 was a seat belt recall, recall # 20060313 was a brake system recall, and recall # 19991202 was a air bag recall. There were many more I am sure you were aware off. My concern was for anybody else thatwas driving one of these vehicles with their families in the car. If my wife or daughter had been in the vehicle with me I am sure their injuries would have been more severe. Please look into this vehicle, it was not safe.
I purchased a Jeep Grand Cherokee from car max on 3-17-07, and within a 3 week period the Jeep accelerated when braking 6 to 7 times. Running through stop lights and signs. I was almost hit. What is the problem with the Jeep.

According to this information dealer should repair this free charge. Unfortunately the polish dealer I spoke to deny to do this. What could I do with this situation?.
: the contact stated while driving various speeds, the vehicle pulsated, when the brake pedal was depressed. It was taken to the dealer on several occasions, where different parts of the brakes were replaced however; the problem recurred.

On September 10, 2005 while driving on the road and the vehicle shook. Originally thought it was a flat tire, but there was not a flat tire. Vehicle is at dealership, there are no codes showing up, have to wait for the problem to happen again, it shakes as if as going down road at 55 mph with a flat tire. The steering wheel was shaking and the vehicle seemed sluggish like it did want to go. When slowing down the vehicle the vibration would slow down. Then, on September 22, 2005 went to apply the brakes and the light came on in the dashboard . After another five or six miles the brake pedal started vibrating, but like a smaller vibration compared to the vibrating. The dealership is looking at the brakes now also.
Consumer had an accident today. Consumer was about to make a left, a car was braking ahead and the consumer hit the brake. The consumers breaks did not respond. The tachometer was going up. Consumer hit brakes a second time, still did not work. Consumer hit other vehicle, and then vehicle stopped. Previous warning. Took vehicle to repair shop, mechanic said it just needed an oil change. Last Friday at one point it seemed like the brakes didn't grab. Jeep stated there was a service alert or recall. In the past consumer asked for information about this problem, when the driver tries to slam on brakes instead hits both the gas and brake pedal because of it being so close together.
This starting again for the second time on April 30th, 2005, and this happened before about a year and half ago. The rotors went out again for the second time. Contacted Jeep, and they covered the repairs the 1st time, and currently they were going to charge consumer for the second time. This vehicle only has 38,450 miles on it. Dealer recommended putting on heavy duty rotors on it.

Brake problems, sudden acceleration.
Consumer states: vehicle shakes only when braking. All 4 rotors are warped, at various speeds the vehicles shakes more so at 45 mph or more. Shakes more violently when braking from that speed. No indication of for warning until vehicle began to shake while braking. Diamler Chrysler will replace the front rotors, but not the back rotors, and refused to give information as one why they will only replace front, and not the back, and refuse to give information regarding deffect of rotors.
Was stopped at a service station, when I placed the car into gear it lurched back as it passed through reverse ,and then went forward at full throttle. The Jeep cannot be put into gear without depressing the brakes. The brakes did not hold when the vehicle was a full throttle. If I had not driven it into a pole I would have hit numerous other cars. The Jeep dealer was unable to find any problem with the vehicle. I am very certain that I had my foot on the brake and not on the accelerator.
Consumer complained about a brake problem. The rotors were thin, and prematureky wore out. Owner contacted the dealer, and was told that the vehicle was under warranty. However, the brakes were notcovered by the warranty.
After conducting business at a drive in bank consumer proceeded to leave. Consumer placed foot on the accelerator and the vehicle accelerated. Then, he applied the emergency brake, however, it did not stop the vehicle. It stroke a four foot embankment, the only thing that stopped the vehicle was a concrete retaining wall, which was struck at 30 mph. Upon impact, the air bags did not deploy, the emergency brake and the anti lock brakes did not kick in.

At 18,000 miles the brakes had to be replaced twice. Consumer contacted Jeep, and they will not do anything to assist the consumer.
Defective brakes on Jeep Grand Cherokee. Brake rotors apparently warp from heat. My wife owns a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and we have had to replace the brakes three times already. There are many owners of Grand Cherokees that have had similar problems with brakes. Chrysler refuses to admit there is a problem, and refuses to address this problem even when a vehicle is under warranty. Dealers are blaming drivers for the problem.
When applying the brakes, the brake pedal would pumped up and down and the steering wheel would shimmy up and down and to the left and right. The higher the speed the worse the problem. When I brought it to the dealership I insisted that the service manager take a ride with me. He only had to drive it a short distance before he knew exactly what the problem was. He said the rotors were warped. I asked if that was normal, especially with such low mileage. He told me that it was an ongoing problem that Chrysler new about. When the rotors heated up they were not cooling down properly due to a defect which in turn causes the rotors to warp. He said they instructed to tell owners that the problem was due to wear and tear and that it was not covered by the warranty, therefore passing the expense on to the customer. He also told me that if the customer complained to Chrysler, and only then, would Chrysler fix the problem at no charge and would put the repairs under a "good will warranty". The service manager said he would not put me through the trouble and automatically put it under the "good will warranty". Especially since I have had numerouse other problems with the Jeep since the first day I drove it off the lot. I've had the check engine light come on 4 times. Each time it was a different deffective part. I've also had electrical problems which caused the dome lights to flash on and off, all sorts of beeping noises and numerous other distractions in the interior. It's also left me stranded on the new jersey turnpike.
While driving at 60 mphn vehicle vibrated when brakes were applied.
Vehicle was brand new and when depressing the brakes pedal went to the floor. Consumer took the vehicle to the dealer, who was not able to duplicate the problem. Received the vehicle from the dealer, and was told dealer had no answers. Consumer was afraid to drive the vehicle. Even when vehicle was moving slowly it would not stop. While the consumer descended grades or hills the abs would activate. The consumer would continue to press on the brake but the vehicle would continue through the stop sign or light.
While applying the brakes steering wheel started shaking uncontrollably. Consumer was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and drove it home. Consumer contacted the dealer, and informed him that this problem occurred more than once, and still had not been resolved.
While consumer was depressing the brake pedal at any speed it pulsated. Vehicle was serviced six times for brakes and rotors, but problem recurred.
On two occasions gas pedal has over took the brakes pedal an accelerated through a red light. Took car to dealer found nothing wrong told them to check the front brakes. They were bad they replaced at 19,000 miles.
When the consumer attempted to brake, the pedal went to the floor, causing extended stopping distance. There was numerous repairs that the vehicle needed; the windshield wipers, gas cap(s), new keyless remote and the temperature gauge did not work. Recall# 02v053000. The consumer discovered there was a recall regarding the power assist, the consumer was original told there would be no charge and then later was told the charge would be $400. 00.

The brakes on my vehicle have to be consistently repaired. I have brought the vehicle to the dealer three times and the Jeep only has 45,000 miles. I have another Jeep that has also been brought in three times and it has less than 25,000 miles. All for bad brakes which I'm consistently told , " is a known defect" by Chrysler and the technical staff.
Electrical problems, check engine light, beep under dash, dome lights coming on, radio goes off, all dash lights(abs, brake, etc. ). Transmission problems 3 times in shop for slipping and leaking seals. Leaking at pan, output seal and, drive train they changed seals and 1 month later output seal was leaking again. Govern assembly was replaced 8/3/03 along with solenoid, transduce. Faulty batteries. Shocks all leaking but they replaced 1 front 1 back.
Loss of brakes. The brake pedal went all the way to the floor.

While my daughter was driving our 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee on slippery roads she slid into an intersection and was hit by another vehicle. My daughter claimed she was going slowly and when the brakes were applied felt a shudder and the car did not stop. To check her story we took the car to a brake shop. They told us the brakes were defective. They could tell by the very uneven wear. 75% warn on 1 side of both front brakes. 25% wear on the other side .
The entire vehicle shutters violently when the brakes are depressed at speeds in excess of 30mph. Brakes have been fixed(?) several times but it only lasts ~5,000 to 7,000miles before it starts up again. It is particularly dangerous when exiting the freeway when the vehicle shakes badly and the steering wheel jolts side to side. Dealer contacted and state it will be ~$600 dollars in parts/labor. This is a known problem with the Jeeps from 1999 to June of 2002 according to the dealer and I've read TSB's referring to the issue yet there is still no recall.
