There has been a rubbing noice for some time, I asked if it could be associated with the auto brake for backing up, they said no, however there is a problem and it could result in an injury or death if ignored. The vehicles stopping power is reduced at times. Sometimes the brakes work fine, but sometimes I put my foot on the brake and it will not stop all the way. The stopping power is greatly reduced at times and I think there is something causing the problem with braking by what the manufacturer has done as my brake pads are fine and have plenty of life.
I purchased some hawk brand rotors and brake pads to replace what I had oem. Immediately, the product began to fail. After having the product on the vehicle for 2000 miles the brake pads had to be replaced. I contacted the company who refused to accept responsibility for the faulty product. There was increased stopping distance, which created as a safety issue as well as the brake pads not being able to keep the vehicle from moving forward when parked on an incline.

About 2 weeks after replacement of all four rotors and brake pads I applied brakes while travelling 30 mph on dry road as the car in front of me was waiting to turn left. My car took a much longer time and distance to stop than usual. I should have stopped 10 to 15 feet behind the car but did not stop until about a foot from the car in front of me. I heard a hissing noise from the area near brake pedal. I brought the car back to my mechanic who said the brake power booster needed replacement. He said this is a very unusual thing to occur and suggested that I contact Jeep to see if it was part of a recall. I contacted the Jeep dealer I purchased it from ( certified pre-owned ) and was told that recall # p14 was performed in oct. 2014 to place a shield near the power booster to prevent water infiltration to avoid corrosion. I was told that a new power booster would not be covered by warranty. It is my belief that since a recall was initiated to prevent corrosion of the brake power booster but the vehicle was driven for 3 years prior to the shield being installed that the corrosion caused by water infiltration had already began and the brake power booster itself should be part of the recall. Simply placing a shield after the corrosion process started defies common sense and is a safety hazard. I do understand that the brake power booster was tested at the time the shield was installed, however corrosion (rust ) is an ongoing process. I think the proper and safe way to correct the problem is to replace the power booster as part of the recall in addition to the the placement of the shield.
The front rotors and the rear rotors turned black while operating the vehicle under normal highway driving conditions. The front and rear brakes pads are not worn where they required replacement. The rotors appear to be defective. I saved the rotors for inspection if you so desire to inspect them. Having been a automotive technichian in the past and a mechanic on nyc taxi cabs I have never witnesses this kind of wear and tear on a rotor. Having had fleets of police vehicles I have never seen a rotor wear like this either. Even police vehicles having been in pursuits have not worn out like this.

There is p14 recall on model year 2011-2014 Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles. They are claiming my car which a 2011 Jeep gc is not under this recall. Couple of months ago they installed a protective brake booster shield, when they actually should have replaced at the local dealership. I have brand new brakes and brake pads, the brake booster is simply leaking due to premature corrosion. Few days ago we almost crashed with our newborn daughter at 40 miles an hour because the brake booster was not working. We heard the air escaping when pressing the brake, but the vehicle did not stop. Chrysler needs to take responsibility and replace the brake boosters on these Jeep Grand Cherokees.
During a recent brake job, I removed my brake rotors. My Jeep Grand Cherokee (2005) has a combination disk and drum brake system in the rear in a single rotor. The drum brakes are for the emergency brake system. When I removed the rear rotors one of the drum brake pads fell off on the floor. I checked the other three pads from both rear tires and all of them were on the verge of coming off. They appear to be glued on and glue failed. These are factory installed brake pads. This seems like a safety issue. I should also note that these drum brake pads had virtually no wear.

After driving vehicle for first week of purchase, while cleaning vehicle I noticed an incredible amount of grease on the inside of the front rims. Looked under the vehicle the right drivers boot was split and the clamp was hanging around the axle. When I returned vehicle to dealer they looked at it and said it was safe to drive until they ordered the replacement parts which was on backorder. It has been two weeks since then and still no parts have come in. I am concerned about driving the vehicle because the grease is all over the disc brake pads and could cause and accident due to brake failure from the grease.

Reported a breaking problem to Jeep dealership happened on 3 occasions on the parkway, fortunately I was able to control the braking by downshifting my Jeep. Went to the dealership immediately thinking my Jeep needed brake pads. . . Which I paid to replace anyway to be on the safe side. There was a brake recall from Chrysler on 2012 Jeeps gc & also reported the breaking problem to Jeep headquarters on 2 different occasions. I was told I would receive a recall notice, my reports are on file. It's almost 2 months & I still have not received a recall notice from Chrysler I don't understand what is taking Chrysler so long to send out recall notices when a braking problem is at stake & has been reported to Chrysler & the Jeep dealership. I also checked with my dealership today ( Apr 22nd) to see if chrisler perhaps has sent the recall to them via messaging ?????????? no luck Chrysler has my VIN # & report on file, however as of today I have not received a recall notice. Does Chrysler wait until someone has an accidentbefore they send out the recall notices ??????????????.
2001 Jeep cherokee rotors and pads have been replaced every year in the last 3 we owned it. This year I will have to do it twice. Never buy Chrysler again, they have issues with a product and don't attempt any solutions to fix them. Brakes pulse very bad, very bad while braking and they are fine for the first 90 days of the repair but then go bad again. I believe while braking in rain or wet conditions warping occurs and once again the vibration comes back. I purchased high performance rotors and pads and at the same time as factory rotors and pads the same thing occurred again. Recommendations: don't drive in wet conditions and get rid of truck, they say buy american but why???? poor workmanship and ignorance of the danger that could come of this shows they have no concerns for the american consumer so why should I have concerns for a business that is suppose to be a staple in the american economy. Our government bailed them out. . . I bailed them out and this is the thanks I received,new rotors and pads at my expense. I hope they fold so that the product the bear their name to does not injury or cause death to people that hold trust in them. He took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated that the brake calipers were covered under warranty; however, the rotors and pads would have to be replaced at his own expense. The manufacturer would not provide any assistance. The powertrain was unknown. The failure and current mileages were 44,700.
I have had the brake pads replaced three times in less than 4 years with only 30,000 miles on the vehicle; they pulsate when applied. I am afraid they may not grip sometimes and may cause an accident.

I am having a problem with the steering, brakes, and the heat vent. When turning left or right, it makes this awful noise. When applying the brakes, the steering wheel and the front end begins to shake. I took the vehicle to get the brakes changed and they said the pads look fine. When I had the heater on, it was blowing cold air on the passenger side.
I bought a new 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo & at 19,600 miles I had to change the front brakes. Since changing from the oem pads that are a whopping $175 from the dealer, I instead purchased the mopar service pads for about $60. I have had problems ever since. The ears on the pads seem to make a clicking sound in the channels they ride in upon braking after a week or 2. I took it back to the dealer superior in uniontown, PA & they said it was because I didn't grease them correctly. They cleaned & greased them & the sound stopped only for about 2 weeks & then returned. I have since had to completely disassemble the calipers & pads twice to clean & grease them. Every week or 2 they start making the noise again. Now my rotors are warped & warranty is only good for 12,000 miles on the rotors. This must be a known problem to Jeep. I asked the service manager if the 2005 jgc had a technical service bulletin on the brake rotors or pads? he said it did not according to his knowledge. I'm at a loss on how to fix this problem other than buying new pads & new rotors? this was my second Grand Cherokee & it will be my last! no more Jeeps for me ever again! if you've had a like experience with the 2005 jgc brakes, please post your problems & any solution that you may have found. The dealer replaced the transfer case, rotors, and the brake pads on three occasions; however, the failure continued to occur. The failure mileage was 40,000 and current mileage was 97,000.
Rotors, calipers and brakes need cut or replaced anywhere from 1 to 4,000 miles. As of this date, this is my 7th time! a pulsation in braking. . . The manufacturer has replaced or cut the rotors 6 times, the drive once, the calipers once and the brakes one or two times. . . I went to an independent on 11-29-06 and had 2 rotors replaced, 2 resurfaced/cut and brakes replaced with 26,500 miles on vehicle. A 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited.
Warped front brake rotors. I received Chrysler notice to take my Jeep to dealer for inspection. Dealer gave it a quick drive around the block and said the rotors were not bad enough to require replacement. Few thousand miles later the warping became very bad and I returned to dealer. Dealer said it was too late as I already had the inspection. Chrysler customer service would not help either. I replaced the brake rotors and pads at my own expense.

For over a year the front brakes have squeaked (a rubbing noise) when driving (not during braking, which stops the noise). Dealer claims nothing could be found. Took the car in today to have tires rotated an balanced. Dealer claims the front pads are thin and crumbling and that both pads and rotors need to be replaced. Dealer states the front rotors are too thin to be turned. This is unusual since the rotors were replaced in 2000 under recall 00v136000. The SUV has been driven 90,000 miles since then - the pads have been replaced - the rotors have not been turned previously. Related to the recall, other users report too hard pads with too soft rotors. In one driving style this leads to excessive heat that warps the sub-par rotors. In my driving style the pads get hot (which causes them to crumble eventually), not hot enough to warp rotors, but sufficient to grind away the rotors leading to premature failure of both parts. If rotors can get so thin they can't be turned (having never been turned), then the combination of crumbly pads makes for a dangerous combination. Since dealer is aware of complaints about too-hard pads and too-soft rotors from these and its other make/models. . . It appears this mismatched combo is intentional. Dealer should replace or heavily discount premature failure parts. Dealer claims all wear is normal and 90k life for rotors is good (and probably is statistically if you include 15k life of recalled defective rotors). The recall repair replaced one part of the defect combo with another defective part, just less prone to rapid failure if driven easy, I. E. It fails premature to normal life of similar parts across industry. I elected to wait on replacing parts until I could gather more info. I came across other reports and complaints for Chrysler with the pad/rotor combo.

Purchased 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee with about 11,000 miles. By 24,000 rotors are showing signs of warping. When brakes are applied steering wheel shivers and also get pedal feedback. This is causing an unsafe driving situation and should not be happening with a car with only 24,000 miles on it.

It felt as if vehicle will not stop or lose control due to warped brake rotors. Happened on three occasions; 09/29/ 2005, 05/05/2005, and 05/16/2006.
