Failure Date: 11/01/2014

Noticed a leak under my engine and when I popped my hood there was oil sprayed everywhere. Major leak.

43 Engine Oil Leaking problem of the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 06/06/2014

I have had multiple problems with my 2012 Grand Cherokee. All of the external lights modules ---headlights and tail lights--- went out and had to be replaced due to an electrical problem then the car sometimes wouldn't start. The dealer couldn't replicate the problem so told me they couldn't do anything. Finally one time it happened at the dealer and they figured it was a defect in the keyless entry that was reading the signal from the key fob. Then when they were inspecting the car they found the rear shock was leaking. They ordered a new part in June and it was finally replaced in oct as the part was on back order. On a routine oil change the service tech told me I needed routine maintance check ( 30000 miles) to the tune of $1700 and wanted me to do it right then. . The day after this oil change the check engine light comes on. I called the dealer. They said it was probably because I hadn't done my 30000 mile check ( the day before). He said it could be variable things but probably a bad spark plug that needed to be replaced ( part of the $1700 check he had wanted me to do). I said I had other cars including a 2002 Jeep and I hadn't had to replace the spark plugs at 30000 miles. Then he realized my 3. 6 l car did not need spark plugs changed at 30000 ---- only the 5. 7 did. Yesterday I checked my fluids and saw the power steering fluid was way low. I called the dealer to see if this was normal. The tech said no--- the steering fluid was in a contained system and should not loose fluid. He said I must have a leak somewhere in the system. He said it was very dangerous but not covered under warranty. He said the engine could catch fire or I could loose steering. Why wouldn't this be covered under warranty? it is dangerous. The car only has 36000 miles and this leak should not happen.

3. 0 liter crd has had multiple problems from purchase to include air intake, oil systems, and seals. Based off of my experiences I believe the engine is faulty and can lead to safety issues while driving. In a 3 year period vehicle has been quoted as needing in excess of $20,000 in engine repairs. Air intake clogs with oil. Oil system leaks from multiple locations to include engine oil cooler, and intake runners. Back engine oil seals leak. Turbo clogs with engine oil. 46 Engine Oil Leaking problem of the 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 10/14/2005

This is my 4th Jeep. Here is a little background on this issue. I purchased a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee, the overland edition. The dealership pushed buying a used certified Jeep vehicle! they mentioned the extended warranty that would take care of any issues that the Jeep had during the last years of my ownership. I went in the dealership looking to purchase a new vehicle but they told me all the added benefits / value from buying from the used Jeep facility! the warranty: as mentioned I purchased the warranty sold by Jeep at the local dealership. The service agreement that was sold by the dealership went bankrupt! gary miller Chrysler Jeep isuzu located in erie, PA sold this to me. My 1st issue was when I decided to take the vehicle in because of a vibration while driving. I was made aware that the company was bankrupt when tying to call and find out what information will be needed when I go to the local Jeep dealership in kansas city. Furthermore I mentioned to the Jeep dealership that pushed the contract that I am wiling to purchase the best contract to make sure I do not have an issue with my new vehicle in the future. The constant issues: I have now taken in my Jeep for 6 visits! I have only included some of the payments (see the additional paperwork) but you can see a trend here. This Jeep had been nothing but a problem since I purchased the vehicle! I am now stuck replacing the steering pump for the 2nd time! I have to pay for the replacement and live without a vehicle. I am out several thousand dollars and still have to take this vehicle (that Jeep pushed on me) to the service shop about every 6 months. I just started driving my vehicle from the last service repair (I am getting very familiar to the local Jeep dealerships) and still the item is not fixed and my Jeep is leaking oil all over our company driveway. This vehicle is a lemon and the company that made the vehicle sold me a bankrupt contract.

47 Engine Oil Leaking problem of the 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 03/20/2004

My wife made a quick stop at a local store. Upon returning the vehicle's engine would not turn over. She paused for a few minutes and attempted to start the engine again. There was a loud bang followed by a loud rattling. At the mechanic shop, the mechanic hoisted the Jeep on the lift and we witnessed a hole and crack in the bottom of the engine about the size of a softball. The cracked piece was only being held by a bolt or some kind of rivet or else the hole damage would have been much larger. The 99 Jeep gc had 96500 miles on it, regular oil changes, and it was not leaking oil. It happened without warning, and I have heard no decent explaination for this. Cost $1500, and this was considered a good price. Yours truly, disgrunted consumer.

48 Engine Oil Leaking problem of the 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 08/15/2003

I bought this vehicle less than 4 months ago and it began leaking antifreeze within the first month. I brought it to crest Lincoln where I bought it for an oil change and asked them to look at why the antifreeze was leaking. They informed me that due to the car being 3 weeks over the warranty, if something was indeed wrong they could not help me unless I paid out of pocket charges. I then brought the car to a repair shop and they told me that it could be the thermostat. This did not solve the problem even though the car was not over heating. The problem: the car is still leaking in more than one place. Today it was a continual leak. I called the dealer and I called Chrysler and they will not repair the vehicle at their own cost. The engine is possibly cracked but they will charge me $400 to do the diagnostic and I will not only have to pay out of pocket for that but also the total cost of the repair until I can settle this with Chrysler or the dealer. This price was estimated around $6000. 00. The car is only 3 years old with less than 36,000 miles on it.

49 Engine Oil Leaking problem of the 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 01/11/2000

Erratic oil pressure. Mechanic investigated and determined that car only had 1 qt of oil in it. I had just added almost 2 qts 2 weeks ago. No leaks and no smoke indicating a leak or burning. Must be leaking into engine itself which is not a good sign. Plugs are okay, so no oil going there. Where could it be going? how do we resolve this? any other similar reports? help!.
