1 Vehicle Shudder problem of the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 03/24/2021

My car began shuddering, the deal of driving a boat almost, feeling like the transmission is in a lower gear but not as rough. The dealer preformed recall repair fsa 14m02tsb 16-0129 today in denton. I drove home the 35 mi. And, although improved still felt the same. My boyfriend researched other bulletins and recalls. Then jacked the car up and saw a leak relating to 14m01tsb. I called but was told since I have 127798 mi and it has been more than 10 hrs, this no longer applies. There was no warning or coded related to these issues and I feel that these 2 issues are related to each other and 1401tsb should be extended to accommodate customers who have this issue but weren't aware as diagnostics do not show there is a problem and the leak is not severe enough to notice driveway spots. The only code of my car is an oxygen sensor code that showed up after the dealer repair today. I have seen many people who has this exact same issue therefore it is an ongoing problem that Jeep manufacturers are fully aware of. I request that the previous 14m01 be extended to cover all parts, repairs and labor related to this issues for these vehicle owners. I am just outside the coverage of this bulletin and had my boyfriend not jacked up the vehicle and checked himself after researching the bulletins, we would still be unaware of the actual problem. I, and other owners need the problems address in bulletin 14m01 remedied by warranty extension or other satisfactory means to cover a problem that the manufacturer is fully aware of.

2 Vehicle Shudder problem of the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 02/03/2020

After only 350 miles my engine started sputtering and had to pull over. By the time we stopped the car the sputtering was violently shaking the vehicle. We had to get it towed only for the dealer ship to take several hours to replace a spark plug. - at almost all time there the air conditioner never seems to get to the desired temperature for more than 20 seconds. When at a stop, the a/c is non existence and temps drop significantly. Unless you have it set to max a/c it will never feel cold/hot. - the transmission is extremely rough at all times, it can jerk you back and forth while it switches gear.

3 Vehicle Shudder problem of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 06/08/2019

Have owned the vehicle for a little more than a year. Three times I've heard gear grinding when I put the vehicle in reverse, I immediately put my foot on the brake put the vehicle back into park waited a few seconds with my foot on the brake before putting the vehicle in reverse again. Took the vehicle to the dealership to be looked at (checked out) but because they couldn't get the vehicle to grind gears in reverse they said there was nothing they could do and had me pick up my vehicle. Also while driving it on one occasion I smelled a smell of electrical burning. Unknown where it is coming from on my vehicle. I'm getting fearful of driving it.

4 Vehicle Shudder problem of the 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 02/02/2017

Check light continuously comes on even after being cleared and the Jeep technician told me that it faulty sensor. The oil pressure sensor which is a $30-40 but would cost over $550 to repair it. The technician even said this a problem that happens all the time. This is very concerning to me and my family because we have had already 5 serious recalls plus a software update. This vehicle isn't safe and consumers are forking the bill to pay for these poorly built Jeep vehicles. I also see more recalls are coming in the future and how is the NHTSA protecting us consumers from these car companies who make and build poor vehicles. This vehicle randomly vibrates violently and sometimes doesn't shift properly into gear.

6 Vehicle Shudder problem of the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 05/14/2016

There are a total of three incidents that had occurred, all within a couple months of each other. The first incident happened late December/ early January. Finishing up work I leave the building and start my car up. When I put it in reverse, to pull out, the Jeep lurched violently forward colliding with the cement barrier. I took it to the dealership where they held on to my car for several weeks, refusing to disclose any information to me about the status of my vehicle. Once they returned my Jeep to me they concluded nothing was wrong, and declined any financial assistance. The second incident I was driving on the highway, late March during the evening. Admittedly speeding slightly, I was going only five-seven over. And just randomly my Jeep starts accelerating by itself. At its peak I was going 80-85 mph and continued at that speed for several minutes before I was able to regain control of my vehicle. The third incident occurred on may 14th, where I was coming off the ramp about to merge on to the highway, when my car inexplicably kicked in its four-wheel drive and dropped gears in to low. The car violently shuddered to an almost near stop with busy traffic coming from behind, resulting in a very close collision. How it was able to change gears, and why, I have no idea. But I definitely do not feel safe in my vehicle anymore.

9 Vehicle Shudder problem of the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 04/08/2014

While entering a busy interstate and accelerating from a stop to 65 mph on the onramp, the Jeep grand cheroke drive train began shuddering violently and would not stop. It felt like the vehicle was running over severe bumps in the road yet the surface was free of defects. I was disoriented by the shaking sensation which would stop if I decelerate but returned immediately when accelerating to merge. I was forced off the road by faster traffic and my inability to speed up. I had to stop on the roadside and attempt to merge again when traffic cleared. My re-attempt to accelerate caused shuddering again at 45 mph. I pulled over again and shut the vehicle off. I restarted and, on my third attempt, accelerated very aggressively with the vehicle shuddering at 45 mph up to 65 mph. When I quite accelerating th e shudder quit. This violent drive train shudder has occured often since then. I have learned that this occurs most often in the first 10 miles of operation and I can minimize the shudder when it occurs by accelerating at full throttle which is unsafe. My online research indicates others are complaining of this same issue in various auto forums. I have had my Jeep dealer apply service updates and test drive the vehicle but Jeep has yet to fix this issue. In my opinion, this is rediculous in a new car and is a drive ability and safety concern.

11 Vehicle Shudder problem of the 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 09/16/2006

2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The vehicle is a 6 cylinder with a nag 1 transmission. The vehicle was bought new in Nov, 2005. It has around 17600 miles on it. The vehicle had been shuddering at various times, was inconsistent. Usually around 1500 rpms. Eagle auto mall, local Jeep dealer stated nothing was wrong. Coming home from store transmission started to whine and then stopped shifting. Pulling into my driveway engine compartment started to smoke badly, almost went on fire . Turned vehicle off. Observed tranny fluid all over the engine and alot of tranny fluid on the ground. Vehicle was towed to the eagle dealer, who after a week in the shop said there was water in the tranny fluid and that they were going to have to take apart the transmission. Contacted Chrysler told them that a VIN check of my vehicle showed that it was not under the recall they had issued for this model, but there was a safety problem and that a new transmission should be placed in the vehicle.

12 Vehicle Shudder problem of the 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 12/31/2005

: the contact stated there was NHTSA recall campaign 05v396000 regarding the automatic transmission. The recall was performed on the vehicle, but afterwards it continued to shudder while driving. Although the repairs were performed accordingly the vehicle had a strong shudder that could physically be felt by the contact as well as a loud chatter from the transmission. While shifting from park to reverse there was a loud clanking noise. Aside from the problem with the automatic transmission the electrical system displayed some abnormalities. While driving the dashboard panel lights illuminated and all of the gauges, such as the fuel and speedometer failed to register. The defroster which was in use at that time stopped working. This problem lasted only a matter of seconds but returned to normal when the check engine light illuminated. This occurred 5 or 6 times in a 5 mile radius and abruptly stopped with no further incident. When the contact returned the vehicle to the dealer for the automatic transmission, the electrical system problem was reported to the service department. The contact left the vehicle at the dealer for inspection. However, the service department has been unable to duplicate the problem.

13 Vehicle Shudder problem of the 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 03/21/2004

I have made 4 trips to the service department for a problem with my brakes. The car shakes when pressure is gently applied to the brakes. The dealer has done nothing except replacing the rotors and the gear box. The problem has not been solved. Also, the car makes a loud klunking noise when the car is put into reverse or taken out of reverse. Once again, the dealer says it is normally, depsite the fact any normal person could tell something is definetly wrong with the transmission.

14 Vehicle Shudder problem of the 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Failure Date: 05/15/2003

I took my vehicle in for the routine oil change at the dealership I purchase the vehicle. After that day, the vehicle vibrates to the point you cannot play a cd. They are telling me this is how the vehicle performs. I have been to the dealership many times with the same response. I also have taken it to other Chrysler dealership with the same answer, it seems that the answer is the same after they look at the repair history. I also have met with the Chrysler marketing rep twice, and the dealership told me that the Chrysler technical rep drove the vehicle. Yet when I requested a encounter with him they declaim and said there is no technical rep. I also met with the general manager from the dealership twice, sales manager many times, I need this to be look into because I think my vehicle was tampered with, because if it was running like this when I bought it I would have not bought it. The vibration is getting worst. I do have a extended warranty, that I cannot use because they refuse to even look at the vehicle. Their solution was to sell me another vehicle, which I declined because they wanted more money down. Why should I buy another vehicle when I have a new one that they destroyed.

The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign numbers: (02v053000 (power train) and 13v252000 (fuel system, gasoline, structure) months ago and contacted the dealer to schedule the recall repair appointments, the dealer stated that they would follow up to provide an available appointment and the dealer never called to schedule the repairs. In addition, the contact was driving at a highway rate of speed over un-leveled land and the vehicle was shaking violently with a "death wobble". A mechanic inspected the vehicle. The vehicle was not yet inspected and diagnosed by a dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the recall repairs so the contact was waiting for them to determine if they may be able to provide a solution and address the two recall repairs with the dealer. The approximate failure mileage was not available. Parts distribution disconnect.
