On 5/72026@app 3:14pm after picking up one grandchild, and at a stop light on the way to p/u the other, the Jeep without warning just disengaged when the gas pedal was depressed, but to no avail. While frozen, the dashboard may have displayed something that was not noted in the panic to get the car moving! the internal panel was still illuminated, however the car would not move forwards although still in "drive" with nothing having been switched, shifted or toggled except engagement of the brake to stop at the traffic light. The Jeep had to be placed in "park", the starter button pressed, then pressed again to completely restart the vehicle. This was a potentially huge safety issue with many cars around us honking & rushing to pick up their own children, yet fortunately no one ran into us with our precious little rider!.

I, [xxx] was driving home from work on Friday, may 1st on [xxx] in [xxx] during heavy traffic when my vehicle suddenly shut off while traveling approximately 65–70 mph. I initially thought I may not have been pressing the accelerator hard enough, but the vehicle would not respond at all. I then looked at the dashboard and saw a message that said “push brake to start. ” at that moment I realized the vehicle had shut down completely while I was in active traffic. I had to coast across three lanes of traffic without any propulsion to reach the shoulder. During this time, I was nearly struck twice from behind because I could not maintain speed with surrounding traffic. Once I reached the shoulder, I was able to restart the vehicle. I was extremely shaken and frightened by the incident. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle again. I was very aware that I could have been seriously injured or killed, and I am thankful I was not struck. I am especially concerned about what could have happened if my grandchild had been in the vehicle with me. This incident occurred after a recall repair had already been performed in September 2025 related to powertrain/hybrid system issues. The failure appears to be the same or similar to the condition the recall was intended to correct. After restarting the vehicle, I drove cautiously to my husband’s workplace and left the vehicle parked. Since the incident, I have experienced ongoing anxiety and distress reliving what happened. This vehicle was intended to be a long-term purchase, and it is extremely concerning that it now appears unsafe to operate. This event represents a serious safety hazard. A sudden loss of propulsion at highway speeds without warning creates a high risk of crash, injury, or death. I am requesting that this issue be investigated, as the prior recall repair does not appear to have corrected the problem. I do not feel this vehicle is safe to operate. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

First, after a trip of approximately 100 miles, the vehicle would not advance after stopping at a stop sign. I had to shift from drive to park and back to drive before the vehicle would move. In the second case, again after a trip over 100 miles, primarily on the highway, the vehicle failed to shift out of first gear while the engine revved to over 7,000 rpm when I left an intersection. In that instance a warning light came up on the dash indicating rpms in the red zone. Once again I had to pull over, put the vehicle in park and re-engage drive before the vehicle would drive in a more normal fashion. It was the following day, when I entered the dealership for a service appointment, that the check engine light illuminated and the vehicle did not run smoothly. The service department determined it was a spark plug issue and claims the problem has been resolved. They also said this issue is fairly common on new (2026) Jeep Grand Cherokee models. There is less than 1,200 miles on the vehicle. I feel I was very lucky that the situation in both instances was relatively safe and there was minimal risk of injury, death and/or property damage. I have lost all confidence in the vehicle.
While driving at highway speeds, my 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited unexpectedly shifted from drive into neutral without any driver input. This has occurred twice at different speeds. After the first incident, the vehicle was inspected by a dealership, but no diagnostic trouble codes were found and no issue was identified. The following day, the same problem happened again under similar conditions. When this occurs, the vehicle loses power to the drivetrain, creating a dangerous situation in traffic. This appears to be related to the electronic shifting module and poses a significant safety risk.

Twice I have been driving on the highway at 60 mph and the transmission had suddenly shifted into low gear and subsequently went into limp mode. The dealer is unable to find an issue with the vehicle. There were no warning lights, before, during, or after. After I pulled onto the shoulder of the road and turned the Jeep off and turned it back on it operated normally.
My 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee just completely lost power again and almost got hit by the car following me. Almost got hit again coasting to the side of the road! this has happened before and the repair shop tried updating software which did not fix it. Why was the 2017 not included in your recall of the power transfer case? repair shop diagnosed problem the last time it happened as the ptc! I am an attorney and want this included in your 2019-2023 recall! please do not force me to file a lawsuit to fix this safety issue!.

The right ptu has failed out of nowhere causing a very loud pop and then grinding when driven. The vehicle was inspected by the Jeep dealership last week to find that that was the issue. There was no warning or symptoms prior to the problem. The safety risk is evident in that it could cause an accident, the vehicle to stop completely, not transmitting power and or not going into park. All without warning. The replacement is very costly.
The rear parking collision warning abruptly stopped working. The engine smells like it’s burning. The recall 68c has no remedy currently. My neighborhood is at risk due to this outstanding issue.

After recall 68c was completed the electric only power is way down. They did not fix the battery, they just reduced performance to try and minimize the risk and save them from replacing the defective part. This is not a fix but a fundamental change in the cars functionality as bought and is not acceptable.

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph, the transmission unexpectedly shifted into neutral(n). There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after shifting into park(p). The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was taken to several dealers but was not diagnosed. The dealer was able to duplicate the failure; however, no diagnostic trouble codes were found. The dealer suggested that an unstated valve might need to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.
Driving on highway, "service hybrid electric vehicle system" warning came on, vehicle lost all propulsion, needed to pull over on road and restart the engine. Almost got into accident with car behind me because of sudden power loss.
The contact owns a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while attempting to shift into park(p) to exit the vehicle, the vehicle started moving backwards down the slanted driveway. The contact depressed the brake pedal, and the vehicle stopped. The contact then started the vehicle and shifted into park(p). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. On another occasion, while driving at an undisclosed speed or while the vehicle was stopped, the vehicle hesitated and jerked while shifting from a lower to a higher gear. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA campaign number: 25v011000 (power train). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 76,000.
While driving home from work on March 13, 2026, the alternator in my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee (3. 0l ecodiesel) failed, resulting in a progressive loss of electrical power. As battery voltage dropped, the vehicle entered “limp mode. ” when I was aproximatly 1 mile from my home when I was forced to stop at a railroad crossing while a freight train was passing. At that time, due to low voltage, the electronic shifter and ignition system became completely unresponsive. I was unable to shift the vehicle into park or neutral and was also unable to shut off the engine. The vehicle remained in drive, requiring constant brake pressure to prevent forward movement. This created an immediate and dangerous situation, as I was stopped very close to a moving train with no functional means of securing or disabling the vehicle. Any loss of braking force or control could have caused the vehicle to enter the path of the train, creating a high likelihood of serious injury or death. After reaching my residence, the condition persisted. I remained unable to shift or shut down the vehicle and was forced to manually disconnect the negative battery cable, which is located under the passenger seat, in order to stop the engine. I am very lucky that I had a small metric socket set in the vehice, that I am somewhat mechanically enclined, and that I have long arms & legs, as this process was extremely difficult. I had to disconect te battery cable while maintaining my foot on the brake to avoid crashing into my garage. The vehicle appears to be designed such that engine shutdown is not permitted unless the vehicle is in park, while the electronic shifter becomes inoperative during low-voltage conditions. This combination creates a hazardous failure mode in which the driver cannot place the vehicle in park or turn off the engine during an electrical failure. This incident appears consistent with hazards identified in NHTSA campaign number 16v240000 (recall s27). Despite records indicating that rec.

I am submitting a complaint regarding NHTSA recall 25v-766 affecting my Jeep 4xe vehicle. This recall states that engines may have been contaminated with sand during manufacturing, which can lead to catastrophic engine failure, sudden loss of propulsion, or vehicle fire. My vehicle currently shows the recall as open with the status “remedy not yet available / parts unavailable. ” this means there is no repair available to address a known safety defect involving potential loss of propulsion and fire risk. I am concerned that sudden engine failure or loss of propulsion at highway speeds could create a significant crash risk for my vehicle, my passengers, and other motorists. Operating a vehicle with a known defect that could cause sudden engine failure while driving presents a potential crash hazard to occupants and other motorists. Owners are being asked to continue driving these vehicles despite the manufacturer acknowledging the defect and not yet providing a remedy. I respectfully request that NHTSA review the handling and timing of this recall to ensure a timely repair solution is provided to affected.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at 20 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal, and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was restarted, and a short distance later, the failure persisted. The contact stated that there were several attempts to restart the vehicle. However, the failure persisted. The message "shift to p then desired gear" was displayed. The contact continued to drive and arrived at the workplace. The contact stated that prior to the failure, the vehicle jerked while driving. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 25v011000 (power train). However, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 44,000.
While driving on the highway I received a “serv 4wd” light and also a traction control unavailable light. Other than that that the car appeared to drive normally other than I could feel the car gears “catching” at starts when I pressed the accelerator. I took the car to the certified dealer and they said it was a transfer case failure and was unsafe to drive as it could have caused the wheels to lock up. This issue is very similar to a recall for other Jeep vins over the same production timeframe of my Jeep, although my VIN was not included in that recall. I am seeking the immediate inclusion of my VIN into the Jeep recall that exists for manufacturing defects of the transfer case.
Heavy vibration of entire vehicle when in reverse. Occasional lack of power when accelerating. Issues with the transmission occasionally failing to shift gears.
-transmission has been experiencing a very hard downshift intermittently as I am slowing down and/or coming to a stop and when accelerating. Additionally it feels like it is jerking slightly repeatedly when moving slowly. -it is available for inspection. -when accelerating on the hwy or at intersections the transmission stalls (or clunks) when crossing the road or passing, causing a delay. -the problem persists, but has not been confirmed by a dealer. -the component has not yet been inspected, as stated above. -no warning lamps/messages appear.

Despite having the egr replaced under recall the unit still exploded while driving on wed 4 Mar 2026. Fluids were leaking and had indicated issues with the electric shifter. The local dealerships states the egr cooler needs replaced, coolant tank, dpf and oil change (despite just being done the Saturday before). Refusing to acknowledge any connection to previous recall or associated damages. Contacted fca customer support and ignored my concerns and said just pay the dealer the $6000+.
As the car was driving the engine stopped. Is is on par with their 78c recall for Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe. The car as noted by the recall is unsafe to drive after an issue has presented relating to the recall 78c. Stellantis refuses to start an early lease termination.
The vehicle has now experienced two complete electronic system failures while driving at approximately 45 miles per hour. During both events, all dashboard warning lights illuminated, and I lost power steering and brake assist. The engine remained running during the failure, but vehicle control systems were disabled. The first repair was documented as a disconnected electrical component, but the same full failure has occurred again. I consider this a serious safety defect, and I do not feel safe operating the vehicle.

National highway traffic safety administration vehicle safety complaint complainant: [xxx] [xxx] [xxx] vehicle: 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee ------------------------------------- safety defect complaint – post-repair vehicle condition I am reporting a serious safety concern involving my vehicle following collision repairs performed by gerber collision & glass under a claim handled by state farm insurance. After the repair, the vehicle began exhibiting multiple safety-related issues, including: - steering instability and shaking - engine performance issues and abnormal noise - hvac malfunction - persistent chemical and/or coolant odors - physical symptoms while driving, including dizziness, lightheadedness, and shortness of breath I returned to the repair facility with photographic evidence showing parts with visible wear and damage that appear inconsistent with proper replacement. Despite this, no diagnostic evaluation was performed, and no corrective action was taken. The repair facility has refused to address the condition of these parts, and the insurer has refused to authorize further inspection. Additionally, there are discrepancies between the insurance estimate and the final repair invoice, raising concerns about whether the documented work matches what was actually performed, including work involving structural components such as the cradle/subframe. I believe this vehicle may be unsafe to operate and that the repair may have introduced or failed to correct conditions that pose a risk to driver safety. I request that this matter be reviewed as a potential safety defect related to post-collision repair. Sincerely, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. The contact shifted to neutral(n) and back into drive(d) for the vehicle to return to normal functionality. Additionally, the transmission was not shifting properly. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 25v766000 (engine); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 12,000.
I took my car to the dealer for the recalls. They are basically only putting a band aid on the issue. They are telling me they did both recalls but it didn't fix the issue. Klaben in kent ohio. They basically did just a flash on it but that didn't fix the issue (loss of crankshaft position). Everything I read said the reluctor wheel needs replaced and they are telling me the vehicle is too old and won't fix. This is all part of the recall. If you have any questions please call me. On multiple occasions, the transmission does not respond to gear changes such as moving from drive to reverse or park into drive. On those occasions, the d for drive would be blinking. More concerning and very dangerous is a lack of propulsion mid drive, the transmission would not go into gear. The engine would rev high, and it would not move forward, except by whatever momentum it originally had. This has happened to me on at least four occasions two of which I was in the left lane of three and four lane wide streets with cars passing me at high speed on the right. I needed to pull over turn the car off and then on again, which is the only way that the transmission would start working again. Sometimes the transmission would be jerky, especially after those incidents. Crossing three and four lanes while people are going 50 and 60 miles an hour is a very dangerous situation when you have no power. The car is a new car. I have had it for only two months and it has been doing this intermittently the entire time. This has been at the dealer for service two times so far and has not been able to be replicated, however, I do have one incident on video. There were no warning lamps messages, and there are no error codes that are found by the dealer.

I am reporting a safety-related issue involving a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee summit 5. 7 hemi. Within days of purchase, the vehicle experienced transmission slipping and delayed shifting, as well as braking issues. These conditions affected drivability and raised safety concerns during normal operation. An independent mechanic found burnt transmission fluid, indicating that the transmission condition likely existed prior to purchase. Although a fluid change provided limited, temporary improvement, delayed shifting continues to occur. Because the transmission behavior and braking issues can affect the safe operation of the vehicle, I am submitting this report so the issue can be documented and evaluated for potential safety trends. This report is being submitted for safety tracking purposes.
Vehicle head gasket blown. Stated by mechanic that this is a chronic problem with model due to cylinder head warming and gasket failure. Shortly after repaired the left rear factory oem rocker arm broke and damaged one of the overhead cams. Again stated by mechanic that this is a common problem due to known oiling problems with this model. Repaired once again. Vehicle drove less than 500 miles before complete engine failure. Also stated by mechanic as well as multiple online forums that Jeep stoped recalls for these problems because they had become to widespread. They were only willing to repair if the vehicle was still within factory warranty.
1 drive train and is available for inspection. 2 vehicle stops and will not move, in traffic. 3 unknown reproduced but happened twice. 4 yes, dealership. 5 no messages or lamps were displayed.
Rocker arm bearings went bad, need to replace all rockers and perhaps a cam or 2, this is know as the penstar tick due to poor quality metals from Chrysler . They need to do a recall and fix for all affected cars as this is a labor intensive job and could cost up to 3000 dollars in repairs!.
Vehicle began displaying check engine light. Diagnostic code p219b (bank 2 air-fuel ratio imbalance) was identified. Vehicle was serviced and a valve-related repair was performed. Shortly after, engine performance worsened and further inspection revealed metal shavings in engine oil and confirmed internal lifter/valvetrain failure. Oil levels were normal and maintenance records are available. No warning of low oil pressure or overheating occurred prior to failure. Independent service center and inspector confirmed internal mechanical failure. Engine failure created risk of sudden loss of power while driving. This appears consistent with documented pentastar 3. 6l valvetrain/lifter issues reported by other owners. Concern is potential for sudden engine malfunction and safety risk due to power loss.
The vehicle has experienced repeated electrical failures. On multiple occasions the vehicle would not start and lost all electrical power. The main electrical system appears to fail suddenly, causing the vehicle to become inoperable. The vehicle has been to the dealership multiple times for the same issue and was out of service for extended periods. This is a serious safety concern because the vehicle can completely shut down without warning.
On January 23, while driving, the vehicle suddenly shut down and stopped working without warning. I attempted to restart the vehicle several times, but it would not start. Smoke was coming from the engine area, and the vehicle was completely disabled on the road. I was stranded on the roadside until approximately 11:30 pm, waiting for a tow truck to arrive. The vehicle had to be towed and taken to the dealership. The dealership later confirmed that the engine wiring harness had burned and failed. The failed component is currently at the dealership and is available for inspection. This sudden shutdown created a serious safety risk to me and other drivers due to loss of power while driving. The issue was not caused by misuse or modifications. The vehicle has since been inspected by the dealership and a manufacturer (Chrysler) representative.
I purchased this vehicle, November 2023 and by August 2024 the vehicle went into griffin hubs to get the engine replaced. They had the vehicle for over a month and a half when I received it back after the engine I had it for a day and a half and had to take it back because it was making a loud grinding noise coming from the engine which then they had to replace a second time because the engine was shredded and was told they were going to put a new transmission in as well, but instead of just replaced a piece, and then two months later, the negative terminal for the battery was replaced in about four months later I take it into the dealership again because as I was driving the vehicle pulled back three times and then shot forward and that happened seven separate times dealership said they could not find an issue and then in November 2025, the vehicle goals back into the dealership for overheating needing a new water pump because I was losing coolant with no leaks. Get the vehicle back two days later my coolant is empty tied again call the dealership they said if it happened again, bring it back in two weeks later it did the exact same thing. My coolant was emptied, but there is no leaks coming from under the vehicle and now last week as I was driving, the vehicle suddenly stopped accelerating and my gearshift wouldn’t catch any gears and as the vehicle is still moving my tires, then locked. The vehicle has been at the dealership for five days and they still cannot figure out what the issue is.
