Noticed vehicle making a squealing sound vibrating when brakes applied. Had brakes changed and the caliper also had to be replaced to to piston being dislodged from the ring. Rotors were grooved out also on the outer edge. I never received information about the inspection on this vehicle for this problem. Is there a continuance of this investigation?.

4 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2001 Jeep Laredo

Failure Date: 02/10/2005

Multiple failures with my 2001 Jeep grand cherokee just beyond the 3/36 warranty. The vehicle now has 55,000 miles: 1. Vehicle required a complete front brake overhaul: new pads, rotors, calipers. Also, . Hood props failed; 3. Water pump failed, window regulator failed, and rear hatch props beginning to fail these incidents all occurred between 36,000 and 55,000 miles (2004-2005). Eep takes no responsibility for anything beyond 36,000 miles. They offer extremely poor customer service at the corporate office. I strongly recommed against purchasing Jeep products.

5 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 1999 Jeep Laredo

Failure Date: 11/29/2004

Similar to many other complaints filed with the NHTSA - while driving at highway speed applied the brakes to slow down and vehicle started to pull to right into the other lane. This caused calipers to lock up. Took vehicle to dealer , again for the fourth time for this problem & had it repaired. After each repair problem would reappear. Was told that this is a known issue by the dealer and the Jeep calipers were not made well. Dealer said (after already spending $2,000 in brkae issues) that the only fix would be to spend another $600 to put all new rotors and calipers on - that Jeep had redesgined. No recall notice was given to cover this cost - although I am told Jeep has a technical service bulliten on this. What recourse does the consumer have to this very common and expensive Jeep issue without a recall notice!!!.

Heavily pulsating brakes with light to medium pressure on brakes. Defect is apparently caused by daimlerchrysler using defective calipers on front disc brake system. Serious safety problem.

7 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 1999 Jeep Laredo

While driving the front end of the vehicle bounced around because the calipers became stuck. The dealer replaced the calipers at the consumers expense.
