1 Brake Foundation Components problem of the 1999 Jeep Laredo

Failure Date: 07/26/2006

I own a '99 Jeep grand cherokee Laredo and I purchased this vehicle from overland park Jeep in overland park Jeep in 2002. Over the 3-4 year period of time that I owned this car, I had to get the brakes serviced for about 5 times for the exact same problem. I took my car to a Jeep certified dealer jim&clark motors. Every time I took my car there to get the brakes serviced, I had to pay a significant amount of money but the problem was only temporarily solved. The problem was that the steering wheel would vibrate every time I use my brakes. Especially on the highway the vibration becomes apparent even to the passengers. Almost every time only 6 months after I would start to feel a pulsation on the steering wheel. I have addressed the issue to jim clark service. They did not seem to care and instead performed the same service even the last time I took my car there. The main reason why I took my car there was that, it is a Jeep and where else can take good care of a Jeep better than a Jeep certified shop. The vibration on the steering wheel turns into a safety issue every time. The pulsation/vibration becomes very strong and as I am driving, especially on the highway, I hesitate to use my brakes and choose not to use them unless I really have to. I look for other ways to slow down my car before I use my brakes. I do things such as using the overdrive on/off button. It is also very likely that the pulsation I feel on my steering wheel transfers to the wheels, basically due to the fact that the source of the vibration is the brake system (front). This may result in even a more serious safety issue. This is my only car, and I have to drive it although it is not in its best condition. Dt: the contact owns a 2003 Jeep grand cherokee Laredo. The brake system in his vehicle was making an extended stopping distance on any looseness of pavement will cause this to occur making the vehicle to pulsate. The brakes system was replaced (rotors, calipers, everything) at 17,000 miles and now after another 17,000 the brakes system is needing to be replaced again. The first time was on warranty but now they have to replace it themselves. The problem gradually got worse. The brakes chatter/pulsate during high speed braking, the dealer first turned the front rotors at about 9000 miles which improved braking but only lasted for about 4000 miles then the brakes begin to chatter again, at 14000 miles the dealer replaced the rotors and brake pads, that fix lasted about 24000 miles.
