The contact owns a 1990 Jeep Laredo. The contact stated that while driving at 60 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and the brakes failed to respond. The contact also mentioned that the brake pedal traveled abnormally to the floorboard. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who stated that the abs pump, the abs motor hydraulic control assembly, and the hydraulic unit anti lock brake needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 107,000.
While applying the brake pedal vehicle failed to stop completely. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that the brakes and rotors needed to be replaced, and replaced them twice. However, the problem recurred.
