The contact owns a 2002 Jeep Laredo. The front and back brake pads and rotors were replaced four times due to the application of cheap rotors to the vehicle. The contact stated the vehicle pulsated while driving 40 mph, but did not have any problems with stopping. Other than the pulsation there was no indication that there were any problems with the braking system. The pulsation occurred under normal driving and road conditions. The replacements had to be done every 9,000 miles at the consumer's expense with the exception of one time. The contact stated that the torque converter failed. The consumer replaced the torque converter with the manufacturer covering half of the cost.

I've been having continuing problems with the brakes and rotors on my 2001 Jeep cherokee which I purchased new. The rotors have been replaced 3 times during 2002/2003 and now the problem has surfaced agin. Chrysler will not take care of the problem because it is out of warranty but this problem has existed all along and the dealership that repaired my vehicle even stated to me that this is an normal problem with Jeeps. The cars shakes and rattles when the brakes are applied and I'm afraid that this could lead to a serious problem on the road.
Multiple failures with my 2001 Jeep grand cherokee just beyond the 3/36 warranty. The vehicle now has 55,000 miles: 1. Vehicle required a complete front brake overhaul: new pads, rotors, calipers. Also, . Hood props failed; 3. Water pump failed, window regulator failed, and rear hatch props beginning to fail these incidents all occurred between 36,000 and 55,000 miles (2004-2005). Eep takes no responsibility for anything beyond 36,000 miles. They offer extremely poor customer service at the corporate office. I strongly recommed against purchasing Jeep products.

Bought Jeep grand cherokee used from a dealer with 34. 600 miles on it - brakes seemed fine then. Soon after brakes started squealing and then vibrating - the latter became really violent by the time I had 52,000 miles on the vehicle. I replaced the front pads and the rotors with used ones that were turned. The vibration stopped but the rears were squealing by then. I turned the rotors and replaced the rear pads at 58. 000 miles. At 60,000 miles it is beginning to vibrate again and the squeal is very pronounced again. I have since learned that this is a common problem with this year and model. . . To the point where they should have been recalled long ago. This is a safety issue: I almost lost control at 55 mph when I had to hit the brakes somewhat forcefully. The dealer told me a fix will cost $800. 00 just for the fronts to solve the warping brake rotor problem. I understand that there is no backing plate on this vehicle so that when it rains cold water splashes directly on the hot components. It certainly appears to be a design issue, so I wonder where the ntsb has been on this one. . . ? Chrysler is just waiting it out so it doesn't have to do anything about it - especially a 4-5 year old vehicle now.

Experiencing problems with the drivers side door lock. It makes a loud buzzing sound when unlocking using the remote or manually. The door will unlock but won't lock. Alarm will sound even if door is unlocked when opened and remote has been used to lock all other doors. I have also had to have the front rotors and brake pads replaced twice in the last year.
While driving in the rain or snow and when brakes were depressed vehicle went out of control. Vehicle was taken to the dealer five times before the problem was repaired. The pads/rotors and the drums were replaced during the last visit. Manufacturer had not been informed of the problem.
Brake debris was coming off brake pads onto front wheels. Dealer notified, and unwilling to assist in this matter. Please provide any further details on this matter .

Caller stated: every time brakes are depressed, the front suspension pulsates/vibrates. Caller received a service bulletin with instructions to completely replace the brake system. Rotors and pads have been serviced several times.
Premature wear of front brake pads. Also replaced transfer case and driveshaft.
Consumer had to replace the brake pads, drums, and rotors after 9880 miles. Brake pads, drums, and rotors were replaced three times with less than 20,000 miles.
