36 Front Suspension Control Arm problem of the 2007 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 08/03/2018

A scrubbing/squeaking noise started on the left front tire of my 2007 Jeep Liberty. I took the car to my mechanic and it was diagnosed as being the control arms on the front of the vehicle. Then the recall came out for the rear control arms. I took the car into the dealership to have the rear repaired and was also told by the dealership that the front needed to be replaced. While leaving my car for repair another Liberty came in with the left front wheel assembly separated from the car. The control arm had fractured/broke. If faulty parts were used on the rear it would seem that the same manufacturer would be used to supply the front parts. The dealership also explained that they had several of the same model come in with the front control arm problems.

41 Front Suspension Control Arm problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 06/22/2018

Have already filed a complaint. Updating information. Complaint #11105312. My vehicle was manufactured 9 days after the cutoff for the 2006 recall # 06v288000. My vehicle had the failure of the front lower control arm ball joint. It was not art of the 2006 recall however, it is part of the current recall for the rear lower control arm ball joints. The original cutoff build date was March 15, 2006. My vehicle was manufactured just 9 days later on March 24, 2006. It seems far too much a coincidence that my vehicle has the same rear ball joints that are subject to recall and replacement, which Chrysler has done, but the front ball joints were not covered in the original recall. I was going 35mph when the part failed. The failure came without any warning and was instantaneous. The ball joint broke and instantly pierced the alloy rim and deflated the tire. Had I been going 70mph, I would have flipped and rolled instantly. Furthering the issue is as best I can determine, the front and rear ball joints are the same part. I am reporting that since my initial complaint, I found out my vehicle was built a mere 9 days after the original recall cutoff date.

Car was taken in sept 17th to uftring Jeep dealer 140 radio city dr, pekin, IL 61554. This dealer determined that my vehicle does need the recall parts (rear control arm & any other necessary parts to complete the repair). I was told the parts are on backorder and uftring stated that there is no specific or estimated date for parts to arrive. This is very dangerous and my only means of transportation. 54 Front Suspension Control Arm problem of the 2003 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 10/02/2017

My mechanic got stumped on some suspension problems, and looked online for similar issues. What he came across was articles by consumer reports and auto trader about recalls with Jeep Libertys from 2003 to 2005 that will have rear suspension, specifically rear lower control arms problems, resulting in the tires loosening or even break away from the vehicle. I am not a mechanic, but what I have read fits the description of what my Jeep is doing, and the area of concern expressed by my mechanic. Even when the Jeep has not been recalled for this, "officially" I would like it looked into as the problem fits the recall description and model years. When I am driving it, it intermittently shakes from the backend, little fish tail motions. It happens at most speeds, but more noticeable when above maybe 25mph. (although it does it at slower speeds as well) it is nerve racking, and noticeable from passengers as well, as twice I've been asked by passengers, "whats wrong with your Jeep?" below on this page it is asking me for a date of "when did this happen?". That I don't know, its not something that happened overnight, its been steadily creeping up, getting worse. My mechanic made mention of it a few months ago. I have had no luck having this listed as a recall, despite what I mentioned previously that the problem fits the description and whats happening. I decided to fill this out to see if anything else could be found or done with the recall. Thank you.

61 Front Suspension Control Arm problem of the 2004 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 06/22/2017

We own a 2004 Jeep Liberty that was purchased new in virginia and resold to our family in 2013, in virginia. On 22 June 2017, my 18 year old daughter was driving our Jeep on mountain roads about 50 miles from our home when she noticed the vehicle was "swerving" and making a noise. She managed to safely move the vehicle out of the traffic lane and contact me. Upon my arrival and inspection of the vehicle, I noticed the rear lower control arm on the driver's side had completely broken and allowed the rear end to shift position, causing the vehicle to track far out of alignment and causing the rear tire to rub on the fender wall. I was surprised to see rust appeared to be the cause of the control arms failure. After getting the vehicle home and researching parts to replace the broken control arm, I discovered that part had been recalled on 2004 Jeep Libertys which surprised me because I had the vehicle serviced by a Jeep dealer to ensure all recalls had been completed. . The driver stated that the vehicle felt as if the front driver side of the vehicle struck the ground. The vehicle fishtailed and collided with the median, rolled several times, spun out, and landed on its roof. The driver side air bag deployed, but the passenger side and other air bags failed to deploy. The driver sustained two broken fingers on the left hand, contusions, left body side muscle soreness, and a concussion. 67 Front Suspension Control Arm problem of the 2007 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 09/29/2016

While backing out of a parking spot, (literally moved maybe 2 inches) the lower front control arm and ball joint on the passenger side broke suddenly. From what I have found during my research there have been a number of issues with this same part failing within the last year. More so, there was a recall of the rear control arm/ball joint and the front was recalled on the 2005 models in 2006. There is clearly an issue with the control arms in 2005-2007 Liberty models. It is my belief that the front control arms should be recalled. The failing part appears to have caused damage to the tire as well as the tire appears to have been leaning inward and rubbing along something along the interior, underside of the wheel well. It is a good thing that the vehicle was not traveling at any significant rate of speed or there could have been significant damage or death.

68 Front Suspension Control Arm problem of the 2004 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 09/14/2016

Rear lower control arm on drivers side broke while traveling down highway #81 outside of columbus, ne. Total steering control was lost nearly causing a probable severe accident. 70 Front Suspension Control Arm problem of the 2002 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 08/26/2016

Well where do I start. Since I have purchased this vehicle in may of 2016 I have replace multiple parts ,but they weren't part of any recalls. But now my concern reviewing recalls for this vehicle and trying to address these numerous defects . I'm almost fed up. My main cover is the j17 recall for the upper control arm ball joint of which a Chrysler representative advideo my my vehicle was part of ,which I clueless on how as the recall doesn't specify other than 2002 to 2003 Liberty vwhiles . Now I show that they were replaced in the past and now they since are worn in the same description they were recalled in . And Chrysler denies responsibility (?) . . Also other concerns with the catylic converter causing a sulfur smell when the vehicle is going up hill aso well as towing . One more thing is numerous online forum about the engine ticking being normal and unfixable other then to replace the engine . Now all this plus the multiple parts I have already replaced a vehicle less then 15 years on the market needed a in other words fully restoration is unacceptable. Especially when I have stock 1948 Jeep that need less repairs than this .
