So this is a huge safety concern I have came across, this is outraged the company hasn't had any sort of recall across all platforms of this gas tank. I have read numerous gas tank, overflow forums, and numerous youtube video of "gas burp" is the nickname, where when pumping gas. The custom like myself may be inclind to like any car, once the gas unleaded is selected, and gas cap out, and inserted into it normal slot. It fills normally, as the gas tank fills no sound is heard, and lastly once the gas pump clicks off inserting the gas. It should be done, not with my tank my tank at any gas station, at any location, any brand, of circle k, bp, mobile, shell, qt? they all overflow my car!. This spill isn't a light spill, this I'd a major quarter of a gas tank still every time. All over the side of the car and the ground and Jeep and dealership response, is you have to pay 3k to replace the whole gas tank. Which is outrageous for a safety issue of dumping gas all over the ground. There has been recalls on 2007 models, of Jeeps and Dodge durango. But my car in specific like many others in the 2005-2012 range are experiencing is. A Dodge flaw of the gas tank, it is the plunger system to prevent backflow. Well the rubber stopper erodes to ethanol which is in gasoline. But I am here to add my concern if the issue at hand. I work for the department of transportation and to have cars spilling fuel out of the normal consumer use any time of the year, any temperature outside, and stations, and also any pump nozzle will do the repeated issue. I have evidence of this but even yourself can google gas burp Chrysler type of vehicles and it is very common issue across forums and more. Best part is, the wear on the rubber ring is past warranty so it out of pocket customers who wil most likely just prefer to spill gas instead of coughing up the money to replace a whole gas fuel tank.

After having service done to the fuel tank under a recall on this vehicle, I now get error code 0544, large exhaust gas leak, . I had service done to the hoses, and two were found damaged near the tank, , I replaced teh fuel cap, and finally replaced the computer. But the light continues to come on. I have not found a satisfactory anser, but it must be related to work done by the Jeep dealer.

While pumping gas, the pumped clicked (stopped) and gas spewed out the tank on vehicle, my hands, pants and shoes. This happened on more than one occasion. Today, 1-31-2015, gascap, indicator light came on. I tighten cap however, indicator light still on. Purchased a new gas cap but the new cap did not resolve the issue.

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that every time the vehicle was refueled, the fuel tank would overflow. The contact stated that the vehicle exhibited same failures listed in recall NHTSA campaign number: 13v252000 (fuel system, gasoline, structure). However, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the fuel cap and evaporator hard line at the firewall needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 85,794.

After gassing up removed hose and fuel shot out of filler pipe, over the side of vehicle and unto the ground. At next fuel stop same thing happened, different service station. Dealer states it is not under warranty. I contacted Jeep customer service and they said there are no known issues with my year and make of vehicle. Fix involves valve on fuel tank with new tank.
Have recall on orc filter circuit and the new recall about the gas tank and I can not get Jeep to do anything about it. I called the first week in July, 2013 again Aug, 2013 and keep getting run-a-round.
This is the second complaint on this vehicle for the same issue, it has become more of a problem. I have to fill the gas tank extremely slowly or the pump will shut off some times gas come out. I can not fill the tank up completely or quite a lot of gas will gush out on the ground or on me if I am standing in front of the fill pipe. I notice there are many people having the same issue. I had this problem with my wrangler same year as my Liberty and the wrangler was recalled. I do not under stand why the Liberty would not be recalled. This could become a very dangerous situation. I checked to see if it was even being investigated and it is not! why?.
05 Jeep Liberty has had a code of p0456 small leak in the evap system. We took it to the dealership and they said that they couldn't find a problem and if the code came back it would most likely be the leak detection pump. The code came back two weeks later. I called the dealership they said I would have to pay for another dino test to see if they can find a fail in the system. I found out there are hundreds of people that are having the same problem. I am suggesting that this evap system leak detection pump is defected if it breaks every 2 years, the Jeep does not have to be smogged in CA for 5 years that's alot of vapor going into the air.

Our Jeep Liberty diesel as been running terribly lately, and then stalled and would not start. After looking further into the cause,I found that the fuel filter head had a fuel leak at the electrical connection for the fuel heater. It appears that the heater is over heating and melting the non-metallic filter head where the connector penetrates and seals. The connector that plugs into the filter head is black around one of the pins. I have left the heater unplugged, and for now have sealed the leak with a fuel tank epoxy patch.

After the car died 2 times this week while driving we found fuel to be leaking from the fuel filter head where the fuel heater plugged into it. The fuel was then leaking down this line into other electrical sensors / computers, causing a fire hazard.
