Be/v4dxhsachb4 it affects so many freaking people. Get your heads out of your butts and do something about it instead of sticking your heads in the sand and not giving a crap how many people are getting covered in gasoline for eff's sake! c'mon people. . . Chime in. These a-holes aren't going to do anything until we friggin' rise-up, or people start catching on fire. . . For the love of god!.

6 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2011 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 10/04/2019

When filling up the gas tank, the pump will stop when the tank is full. Then however, the tank burps up fuel all over the place, at least a couple cups worth. This makes it impossible to fill up the tank all the way, and if I do then gasoline gets spilled all over the place: the ground, the car body, and all over the tire. Not safe.

7 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2011 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 03/15/2019

The contact owns a 2011 Jeep Liberty. While the contact was fueling the vehicle, the fuel tank stopped midway into filling up. As a result, the fuel spilled onto the ground. The fuel nozzle shut off repeatedly, which the contact felt was a safety issue. The manufacturer was contacted and did not assist. The dealer was not notified. Gas overflows onto pump handle, hands, side of vehicle and ground when filling gas tank. This appears to be a common problem with these year model liberties.

9 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2005 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 12/23/2018

While filling up the gas tank, the pump automatic shut off is triggered several times before the tank is full and as a result, gas ends up spewing back out of the tank runs down the side of the vehicle to the ground creating a potential fire hazard. It seems like the gas tank is unable to vent the air out quickly enough so the gas comes back out of the tank fill tube.

The failure recurred numerous times at different fuel stations. The contact stated that she could not fill the fuel tank because fuel would flow out. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the fuel station pump sensors failed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

11 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2004 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 11/10/2018

After filling fuel tank the car starts fine but then the engine stalls multiple times in the first 3-5 miles. This is hazardous since it often happens when pulling into traffic leaving the gas station. It seems to go away and the car runs fine after several miles of driving and stalling as I slow down for stop lights or stop signs. I recently bought this Jeep and this has happened several times after fillups. I just googled the problem and found it is a common issue. I thought it would be good to add my information to the list. I have done nothing to try to solve the problem at this point.

Gas tank overflows when filling up gas.

13 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 05/12/2018

When filling tank gas does not stop automatically, there is a lot of gas that overflows down side of car onto the ground. Doesn't matter speed of filling the tank it will overflow unless manual stop of filling prior to gas tank being full and will sometimes still overflow. The vehicle is off and parked at the pump, doesn't matter what gas station is used the issue happens. This happens every time filling up with the last time on 5/12.

15 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2011 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 02/19/2018

I owned my 2011 Jeep Liberty since November 2010. When filling the tank with gas, as it nears full, the gasoline expels out of the tank. This happens nine out of 10 times that I fill the tank , and has happened as long as I've owned the vehicle.

16 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 02/01/2018

When filling the gas tank, the pump fails to automatically shut off due to a faulty fuel filler neck. The entire gas tank must be replaced because the valve is part of the tank and cannot be replaced separately. The fuel spillage hazard creates risk of explosion at the gas station.

17 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2011 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 10/10/2017

Jeep will not start after it runs for a while. If it sits for 15 minutes, it won't start. It cranks over but does not start. If I wait another 15 minutes or so, then it will start. Also having problems filling gas tank. It will spill gas out at you or keep shutting gas nozzle off when filling at gas station. This isn't a one time problem. It happens all the time. Gas station attendant gets very frustrated trying to fill tank.

Failure Date: 01/01/2017

Fuel system, after filling tank with gas vehicle stalls after driving away from pump. Vehicle stalls in traffic, at light and in intersections after filling up. My incidents have been many one time while merging into traffic from gas station, at a red light and has stalled right in middle of intersection with traffic. Unknown the problem but vehicle is hesitant to restart after the shut down for approxinately 1 minute.

21 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 11/22/2016

When filling the gas tank, there is almost always overflow that spills out of the nozzle onto the side of the vehicle and onto the pavement. I would estimate this happens about 80% of the time I fill up.

22 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 09/28/2016

When filling the tank with fuel, the pump does not shut off, and the fuel filler tube belches fuel onto the side of the truck and the ground. This causes a fire safety issue, the fuel damages paint and plastics on the vehicle, it is wasteful, and is hazardous to the environment.

23 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2011 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 06/09/2016

After filling my gas tank and grocery shopping, I came out to my car and it wouldn't start, I then had it towed to my local Jeep dealership, they diagnosed it as a faulty tipm sensor, after researching online, turns out I am one of hundreds of thousands dealing with the same issue, Chrysler should have to be held responsible for knowingly continuing to install faulty sensors and then not assisting with repairs. Outrageous!!! what is the point of investing in an american brand when they are not held accountable?? losing all my faith. . .

24 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 04/30/2016

2006 Jeep Liberty: fuel splashes back when filling gas tank at a gas station. This happens every time I fuel the tank. Faulty fuel inlet check valve. Other Chrysler vehicles have this problem and have been recalled for repair. I spoke with a representative from Chrysler, and they stated that Chrysler has no plans of issuing a recall for this make, model, and year vehicle.

25 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 03/30/2016

When filling up the gas tank, the automatic shut off does not function, resulting in gas pouring out of the tank. This has happened consistently, no matter where or when I fill up.

26 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2010 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 03/01/2016

Fuel blows back explosively while filling tank. Dealer reports check valve in inside the gas tank not on the filler neck and that replacing fuel tank in only way to fix. Cost estimate $1370, plus $146. 50 to diagnose the problem for a total of $1,517. 31. This is a safety issue which Jeep is well aware and widely discussed on various forums. Jeep has recalled other models, but not this specific model and year. Serious bodily harm and death is a potential with this safety problem. Jeep refuses to assist on any cost or repair of the vehicle. Fuel tanks are made to last the life of a car, this is a manufacturing defect which should be dealt with. Car is single owner, was bought new in August 2010, no other problems. Case #28823444 at Jeep. Called 3 times, was offered zero assistance to mitigate the problem.

27 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2007 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 12/10/2015

The filler neck in failing on my Jeep Liberty 2007 and it is a safety issue! when I fill up my tank with gas, the automatic shut off occurs and when I remove the nozzle, gas spits back at me. At first it would happen after the tank was full, now it is happening after only filling up 2 gal (when on empty!).

28 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2011 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 11/22/2015

There is an issue with gasoline overflowing from the tank of our 2011 Liberty after the gas pump has shut off. This happens after the initial shut off as we are not topping off the tank. About 1 second after the pump stops automatically gasoline will spray out of the filler neck and all over the ground. This has happened at different filling stations; so it does not seem like a pump issue. It only happens after the pump has stopped. It does not happen while the gas pump is running.

29 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2008 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 11/02/2015

When filling the vehicle with gas there is a "burp" that pushes gas out of the pipe to the tank. It's like the tank isn't venting, and building pressure when filling. This happens on evey fill-up. I thought the service station shut off were the problem, but after being on a web site, there are alot more with the same problem.

30 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2005 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 10/13/2015

While dispensing fuel into the vehicle at a filling station the fuel gushes from the fill port prior to the tank being full. The fuel continues to come out for a few second after the fuel dispensing is stopped. This is completely un safe, wasteful and creates an emissions issue at every fill up.

31 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2005 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 06/01/2015

When filling the gas tank the gas pump shuts off but the gas is already pouring out of the vehicle the vehicle doesn't shut off and it over fills the gas and it runs down the side of the vehicle. We bought this second hand and not sure if there was every a recall on it?.

32 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2005 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 03/10/2015

We received the notice about the gas/fuel tank potential to catch fire, we took our vehicle to the dealer. The dealer explained that we have too much corrosion on our vehicle to be repaired. The cost to repair exceeds the value of the vehicle, currently we are still driving with a vehicle that may catch fire. We contacted Chrysler as we still are paying off the vehicle, we where given the run around until finally one associate told us simply, they will not help you. Prior to this recall notice we have constantly had issues when filling up with gas and the gas would leak out in large quantities instead of shutting off. We replaced the oil pan recently after it rusted out, we are about to replace to transmission fluid pan as that is about to rust out, the transmission lines are also rusting and corroded. Our Jeep may be an 05 but it looks as if its brand new rolling off the line, we take care of our vehicle. We are informed consumers and know there is a recall for Chrysler failing to fix the fuel tank explosion issues, when we looked up the VIN for our vehicle it was not showing that it is one of the one's being recalled. Our vehicle was not repaired and we should be included in this recall. We want to know if our vehicle will be included in the recall. We still have all the paperwork from visiting the dealer. When we took the vehicle up for the recall, the dealership told us that Jeep has issues with rust to begin with and that it is a known issue that has yet to be corrected.

33 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 03/07/2015

During refilling of the fuel tank, the fuel shutoff mechanism does not work properly and fuel always overflows onto the ground. Research reveals that problems of this type are known to be caused in Jeeps of this year by the inlet check valve (icv). The recall for this issue in Jeep wranglers should be expanded to include Jeep Liberty models.

34 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2008 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 01/25/2015

Gas spill when filling tank.

35 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 12/03/2014

It has been brought to the attention of the nhts that there is an issue with Jeep vehicles that when fueling up the gas tank a geyser of gasoline will erupt from the tank upon "completion" of filling the tank. Covering the car, the individual filling the tank, the ground, and anyone else within a certain vicinity in gasoline, a highly flammable liquid. Chrysler has a history of this issue with their vehicles. In 2009, 45,000 cars were recalled for it. Currently, Chrysler has agreed to "initiate a lifetime warranty program" to address this very issue in 135,000 Jeeps manufactured in 2007 and 2008. Leaving all other Jeep owners with this issue to continue risking their lives and the lives of others by getting continually doused in gasoline. Recently, Chrysler issued a recall for 430,000 Jeeps because of a weakness int the gas tank that can burst into flame in the event of a rear end collision. So they know their gas tanks are weak! this latest recall admits to it. So why the discrimination against the rest of us Jeep owners with faulty inlet check valves? where is justice, and concern for our safety?.
