The skyslider roof system has failed. The roof opened as normal but failed to close when button was closed. On investigation of the roof top I found the sky slider roof had come off the track. When I took the Jeep to the dealer they told me they could only replace the roof at a cost of 1500. 00. I took the car home and was able to manually pull the roof back into place. This appears to be a design defect with the roof systems as there are thousands of complaints about wind noise and the skyslider failing and Chrysler Jeep ignoring the problem.
While driving with my daughter, I pushed the button to close the open sunroof and heard a loud popping noise. A part flew off of the vehicle and the sunroof would no longer close. After taking it to the dealership, it was determined that the entire module failed and needed replacing. I only had 37,500 miles on the vehicle. This repair cost over $1000 and had to be done as a security issue would exist with an open sunroof that is not able to be closed. Contacted Chrysler Jeep and they refused to cover any of the cost for this defective part.

Sky slider roof assembly partially opened and will not close.
The sky slider roof on my Jeep Liberty stopped closing properly several weeks ago. At first it was just leaking and small parts of the roof wouldn't close. Eventually it progressed to the entire sky slider and now will not close completely at both ends. I have seen several other complaints about this same problem on the internet and I believe that this is a faulty product made by Jeep and should be recalled immediately!.
2008 Jeep Liberty was brought into dealership due to manufacturing weakness with the sky slider. One press of the close button and the whole back portion of the sky slider misaligned and would not close. The service rep. Stated that the whole assembly line was defaulted and would be very expensive to fix. Meanwhile, due to this manufacturing weakness, my Jeep was not drivable due to the sky slider sliding forward and backward suddenly and loudly every time the Jeep was driven over 35mph. The process in getting the Jeep repaired has taken over 3 weeks and the repairs are still not completed at the time this compliant was submitted. The Chrysler corporation is assisting with the repairs, however at this time there is no recall on this product.

Both rear regulators have quit working, leaving my Jeep and myself vulnerable to others being able to easily enter the vehicle. We have replaced one and will be replacing the other next week due to the cost. As if that wasn't enough, the sun roof just quit working and stuck partially open. I hardly ever use it, so it did not break due to use. We took it into the dealership and it will cost $1300. 00 dollars to repair, which we cannot afford. Also, fuel quite often overflows when fueling, spilling gasoline down the side of my Jeep as well as spraying out onto the person fueling. It does not matter how slowly we put the gasoline in, it still overflows.
