5 Power Window problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 01/11/2014

As I was driving with my sons in the back seat, we heard a loud bang on the right back passenger side. The window started to roll down into the door shift. I was able to pull over and catch the window and manually push it back up. It then fell completely into the door shift. It was 17 degrees outside and we had to ride all the wayhome with the window down. This is dangerous because the noise surprised us and could have caused and accident. Please research this.

6 Power Window problem of the 2004 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 12/08/2013

The rear driver's side window fell out of the track; I tried rolling the window up but nothing happened. This is the second time the window regulator has broken. Apparently, this is a common problem with older Jeep Liberty models and from what I have read, the regulator is made of plastic instead of metal and the part is made to break often. I am tired of fixing the problem again and again!.

7 Power Window problem of the 2003 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 10/17/2013

On October 17, 2013 the left rear window decided to drop down. I was fortunate enough that the window did not fall completely into the door space. I was able to pull the window up and for safety measures, I taped the window up. The motor still runs when trying to raise the window but nothing happens in raising the window. I found that there have been many complaints about the window regulators. In 2007 Chrysler did an extended warranty for 7 years and unlimited miles but I am told there is no help with the 2003 models although there are many complaints of the same problem. . This is obviously a problem that has plagued the Jeep Liberty for quite some time and I do not understand why Chrysler would not take care of it. I do not have the $335. 00 to repair this and wintertime is already here. I am trying to do research on the problem but it is hard to fight for the repair when Chrysler keeps telling me my vehicle is not covered. I found a class action lawsuit about the problem and it seems like it was on behalf of Jeep owners nationwide but will probably have to search more information on the outcome of [xxx] v. Chrysler group, llc, class action case no. [xxx] blm) the Chrysler Jeep Liberty door and/or window regulator class action lawsuit complaint is reportedly brought on behalf of the following putative classes of persons, unless otherwise excluded: during the fullest period allowed by law, all persons and entities nationwide that purchased or leased a covered vehicle manufactured by Chrysler. Covered vehicle is defined to include model year 2002 through 2007 Jeep Liberty vehicles. (â??the nationwide classâ??) it is certainly not a comfortable feeling knowing that at anytime if the tape lets loose, this window can fall into the door, break into the vehicle. . . Unknown injuries can occur. I will keep searching for answers. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

8 Power Window problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 10/17/2013

This has been happening for some time. When I fill up, the gas tanks gushes out gas when it is full. This happens almost every time that I fill up with gas. It seems extremely dangerous as there is enough fuel that spills on to the ground below the Jeep. I have replaced every regulator in my Jeep's windows. They go out all of the time. The last one went out while driving and the window crashed down and scared me to death.

9 Power Window problem of the 2003 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 10/06/2013

I purchased my Jeep Liberty in 2003. About 2 years after purchase, the first window regulator went out. Unfortunately, there were only warranty's to cover the repair for 2006-2007 models, requiring me to pay for the repair. The regulator went out 2 more times over the next 3 years - with out of pocket costs each time to repair. The 4th time the regulator went out, I contacted Jeep, explained the situation and they were happy to oblige. Jeep had to pay for regulator one more time, as another went out just a few months later. This totals 5 incidents (3 out of pocket; 2 paid by Jeep). I am now on the 6th time the regulator has gone out. I contacted Jeep, but they have chosen not to pay for this repair and says it is not their issue. I highly disagree, as this is an issue that should have been recalled years ago. Not only does this create a safety issue with a window that does not stay up, but we are now approaching cold, winter weather. It is my request that all Jeep window regulators get the same treatment and fixed regardless of age of vehicle, make, model and/or mileage.

10 Power Window problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 09/12/2013

I was driving my vehicle near crater lake national park. The power window motor system broke on the left rear passenger door, thus allowing the window to free fall into the door frame. I have read that this is and has been an ongoing problem with this year of Jeep. Then now in decmeber, the drivers window motor system has broken again causing the glass window to free fall into the door frame. If this is all true about this system, and the fact that I now have 2 broken power window motors which will cost me nearly $900 to fix, I feel this item should be on a national recall list for Jeep to replace these items so they will not fail. It is a safety hazard as it could cause glass to break during driving time and injuring drivers.

11 Power Window problem of the 2003 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 03/25/2013

Two of the rear windows have failed. Both of them dropped for no apparent reason and would not work to close them. One of the failed in 3/2013 and the other one failed today while I was driving 60 mph on the freeway. I know that Jeep has had many complaints regarding the failure of their windows. I know that it is going to cost at lease $300 to repair each window. I have not been able to afford to repair the first failed window. I have had to use duct tape over and over to try and keep it closed. Now the second window has failed and is trapped inside the door frame. Jeep needs to recall these defective windows.

12 Power Window problem of the 2005 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 03/02/2013

Defective window regulators. Everyone knows about them. Just type in 2005 Jeep Liberty window regulator and see all the hits. The window regulators are bad on all Jeep Libertys from 2002-2007. I have sent information before but it seems no one cares until someone dies. I have contacted the dealer, Chrysler, bbb, the state attorney general and several tv stations. I have also told several federal government agencies including NHTSA but again no one cares about the american citizen. The ones who pay the bills. When it fails the window slides down without any warning so your car becomes unsafe and you are unable to lock it or secure the car. The glass can slide down in the door or break in the door. Then you take it to the dealer and he charges you $400 to fix a known defective. Chrysler and the dealers love it. You make money when you sell a car with a defect and then charge the person everytime the defect fails. It is a win win for Chrysler and its dealers. The public is getting the shaft. Imagine not going certain places because you are afraid your car is not safe to take there or not going over night because of your car. How about I stop at a red light and a guys gets in my back seat with a knife or a gun and kills me due to my broken window regulator. The window falls down and the rain stains the seats another issue the seats stain even from water. Not to mention the other issues I have had the belt tensior, the horn, the roof rack, the parking brake, the master cylinder, window regulators, window regulators, the list goes on and on. I see there are over 60 complaints about it on your website so when can I expect something to be done. When will there be a recall on window regulators on Jeep Liberty's? maybe we need someone to go postal at a dealership to get attention. Not me. There is a known defect and with tons of evidence so fix it.

13 Power Window problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 02/14/2013

Driver side window dropped - it's the window regulator - again. Have replaced the other window plates and regulators in this car 4 times! really scary when you're driving and the window suddenly drops! especially nice when it's pouring out! previously was reimbursed by Chrysler for repairs, but now they've 'changed their policy' (really????). This will cost me $375 at my own shop as opposed to $508 at the Jeep dealership. I wouldn't care if it was twice the price, I'm not giving Jeep a dime! this should have been a recall item, they should be ashamed of themselves.

14 Power Window problem of the 2004 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 02/01/2013

The contact owns a 2004 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that the front passenger side window opened without warning. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. After diagnosis, the contact was advised that the window regulator failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure and current mileages were approximately 112,000. Updated 3/14/13 updated 04/22/2013.

15 Power Window problem of the 2005 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 01/07/2013

I was parked and preparing to leave work when my window dropped down into the door. I see that a recall was done on this same issue for my vehicle, but not my year. . I have a 2005 and they are only covering this issue for 2006 forward. . . Why. . If it is an issue with this model, than shouldn't the other years be covered as well?.

16 Power Window problem of the 2007 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 01/03/2013

While using the passenger side back power window operator to close the window there was a click and the window began to slowly sink back into the door. The car was parked at the time of the incident. This is my second window regulator to go bad. The driver's side back window regulator has also gone bad. It was scheduled for repair.

17 Power Window problem of the 2007 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 01/03/2013

Rear window fell into door while driving. Window regulators fail randomly and Jeep is not offering a solution. This is the 5th failure of the windows on my 2007 Jeep. All windows have failed and been replaced, now the replacements are failing.

18 Power Window problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 01/01/2013

2006 Jeep Liberty. Consumer writes in regards to defective window parts installed in vehicle. The consumer stated the window has been replaced five times within the last four months, in addition, to the previous 11-12 replacements in 2007. The consumer stated using the same defective parts was not going to fix the problem. Also, when the windows were down, there was a thumping and wind noise, that was unbearable. The consumer stated things were stolen out of his vehicle, because the windows would not go up. Also there was a noise coming from the rear of the vehicle and the doors would vibrate when the windows were down.

19 Power Window problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 11/20/2012

In August of 2011 my rear passanager window fell down while I was driving. August Nov 20 2012 my window again fell down where my infant sits and its the start of winter. I understand there is an issue with this on models 2004-2007 however they are not covering this as a recall. This is clearly a safety issue. The manager bill said that he pretty much didnt care neither did gloria the csr rep whom hung up on me when she said she was going to put me on hold after 10 min or brenda who said that they just don't do good this kind of service for people.

20 Power Window problem of the 2003 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 11/07/2012

While highway driving both rear windows came crashing down resulting in one window breaking brought it to have fixed was told plastic clip that hold the window up for the electric motor failed replaced both motors and had window fixed all factory parts were used happened again on 3/13/2013 appears the plastic clip keeps breaking will need to replace both motors and assembly again at a cost of 600$ right now both windows being held up by wooden stakes cant afford to keep replacing parts at no guarantee that this will not happen again.

21 Power Window problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 11/01/2012

Left rear power window regulator assembly failed when trying to raise the window. I heard a loud pop, followed the sound of the motor working, but the window wouldn't raise. Scary, as my small child was in the seat next to the window. I have been given an estimate of $428 to fix the problem. I am adding my complaint to the long list in the hopes that Chrysler & Jeep would finally fix this systemic issue. Since this is both a safety and security issue, maybe the NHTSA can help!.

22 Power Window problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 10/28/2012

The right rear passenger window while driving 65 mph the right rear window without warning dropped all the way down into the door. This startled my 7 year old son who was sitting there and it almost caused me to lose control of the vehicle because my sons reaction startled me.

23 Power Window problem of the 2007 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 10/06/2012

When going to put the drivers window down, I accidentally pushed the switch for the back seat window behind the driver's seat. When I hit the switch it made a funny noise. So, I left the window alone with plans to get it fixed. The window was up at this point. I went to work and when I returned to my car at the end of the day, the window was all the way down. I attempted to put it up using the switch and it made the same funny noise.

24 Power Window problem of the 2004 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 10/01/2012

Joining in the large numbers of Jeep Liberty owners, I purchased this vehicle January 2012 with approx. 86000 miles. The driver's side passenger window was already inoperable during negotiations and dealer repaired. Within months, the driver's window failed with the same problem, which has been a thorn in the side of many who own(ed) this model - weak plastic part involved in the window motor, causing the glass to fall into the door and difficult, costly repairs. Chrysler has not been made to help the consumer in the history of this wide-spread issue. Please consider action? the cost to repair each window is not inexpensive.

25 Power Window problem of the 2007 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 10/01/2012

I own a 2007 Jeep Liberty sport, with no warranty. A few months ago, the rear, driver side window regulator and motor went bad and I had to replace this out of pocket. What is more frustrating is that this has happened to my driver front widow now. Since my last repair, larry h. Miller Jeep in sandy utah has inflated the price of the part. They are very aware of the need of this faulty part and are taking advantage of customers. I now have no window (it is cracked inside my door and I am not in financial position to replace it). It is approximately 30 degrees in my state right now, this is almost unbearable. I have also owned a 2006 Jeep Liberty prior to this and the rear driver window regulator and motor also went out. I also had to replace this at my cost. This makes three times for the same part! I am asking for a recall and for the dealership to replace this at no additional cost to me. I feel it is already unfair that they provide a bad part, but even worse that they inflated the price part recently and are taking advantage of consumers. This is also unsafe, I have to drive with a garbage bag to my window which blocks my line of sight, but is the only way to keep dry in this fall/winter weather. Please help me, I am at a loss right now and this is my only means of transportation. The dealership's number for where I purchased the vehicle (866) 653 3505. Thank you again. Thank you.

26 Power Window problem of the 2003 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 09/16/2012

Rear window regulators have broken 4 times, fix is hundreds of dollars. Dealer told us Jeep uses inferior plastic parts and refuses to correct this problem. Will never buy a Jeep again.

27 Power Window problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 09/08/2012

While driving the 2006 Jeep Liberty across the country from PA to TX the 2nd back window fell into the door with our dog in the back, this could of caused an accident. This happened to both my back windows, both these are child safety windows, and if someone had a child in a car seat in these Jeeps could have had a potential accident when this happened, winter months, storms etc. Please recall these hazardous window regulators on the 2006 Jeep Liberty. I was told by the local dealership, the Chrysler company will pay 1/2 for the repair,. I am asking for an immediate recall and replacement for the window regulators before someone gets seriously hurt.

28 Power Window problem of the 2004 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 09/03/2012

The window regulator has failed in the window. This is a well known problem. Just sitting at a light and the window falls down because of a small plastic piece that holds the window up breaks.

29 Power Window problem of the 2005 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 09/01/2012

Three out of four windows- loose and disconnected from window assembly. Possible dangers from tossed/flailing glass. One would think Chrysler would be concerned with this safety issue with inferior parts and post recalls on defective window regulators and assist their clients for repairs of these part in order to avoid a possible disastrous situation.

30 Power Window problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 09/01/2012

While driving a passenger on the rear left side of my car attempted to roll down the window. We then heard a pop and the window was half way down and began to fall. We were able to keep the window from falling into the door. The motor continued to sound as if it was working but would not allow the window to go up or down. Approximately 6 months later the rear right side window was being rolled down and we again heard a popping sound and the window again would not roll up or down. After research it seems that this is a common occurrence and due to having two out of four windows on my car alone experience this problem it seems very strange to me that this has not been issued as a recall and is costing owners of these vehicles over $400 per window to fix this problem. This is a safety hazard for the risk of someone breaking in to a vehicle and also the risk of the window falling and breaking putting anyone in the back seat of the vehicle at risk of injury, including my daughter.

31 Power Window problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 08/27/2012

Left rear power window regulator failed causing window to fall. Inability to closed window creates cabin pressure oscillations at all speeds. The pressure oscillations create a distraction to the driver and impair the driver's hearing.

32 Power Window problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 08/15/2012

This is the 2nd time I have accessed your website with a complaint for the same problem. . I reported my other complaint on 09/20/2010. My rear windows just fall down for no reason. On 8/15/12 I walked out and noticed my rear driver side car window was down. When I tried to put it up, it just made a grinding noise. It just slips down into the window space leaving me with an open window while driving down the interstate in the rain. The same thing happened two years ago to both rear windows to the same vehicle. I was told by the dealership there was a defect in the 2006 Jeep Liberty's where this happens. It appears the windows and part that raises and lowers the window is one unit which is made of plastic. Apparently it is very cheap and fragile and breaks for no reason. You have to buy the whole window/mechanical assembly and it is very expensive. Please help me get my window fixed.

33 Power Window problem of the 2002 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 08/03/2012

I was driving home and noticed my window for no reason fell down. The Jeep was bought new by us in 2002. The back seats or windows have been rarely used. We use air and heat, so with the exception of the driver's window, we have hardly rolled down the other windows. I did research about the falling down on the Jeep windows. I learned Chrysler knew since 2002 about the defective windows. They finally recalled back some of the 2006 and 2007 Jeeps. I called them and they do not seem concerned about the danger this could cause. I feel because of the little use of the window is why we have not had the problems several have had. They then proceed to charge you $500. To repair the window with the same kind of part that will break again. This has happened to several people. I asked Chrysler about this part, they confess just recently they have changed the part to work. I see the danger this could be if hauling a young child. Even though a child is to be in a child seat, they sometimes can get out. If driving down the road and the window just drops, a child could fall out. In a wreck this could endanger anyone. All the windows in the Jeep have a problem of breaking for no reason, but mostly the back windows. Chrysler is aware of this and should have recalled all these windows. They are bleeding the Jeep owners by having to continue to repair the defective windows and are endangering people's life. They should be made accountable for the defective parts that they knew they had and continued to use.

34 Power Window problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 07/02/2012

Both of my rear window regulators broke while I was rolling down the windows after being in the sun all day. This is the 3rd Jeep Liberty that I have had that has had this problem. Jeep wants me to pay $300 to get these replaced. This is a known problem and Jeep refuses to take care of it. Locking my vehicle is pointless since the windows fall down.

35 Power Window problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 07/01/2012

The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that the rear driver side window regulator failed. The lift plate for the regulator was poorly designed and the plastic parts fractured. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection or repairs. The failure and the current mileage was 106,000.
