The driver's side has failed 3 times. The front passenger side has failed once and the left rear has failed twice. Now this is actually the 7th occurrence. Why hasn't Jeep done a recall about this?.

8 Window Regulator Failed problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 11/03/2010

Yet again, a complaint against the faulty window regulator in the Jeep Liberty. I've had 2 window regulators fail in the last 3 weeks. There needs to be a recall on this and Jeep needs to be held accountable for the faulty part.

9 Window Regulator Failed problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 10/15/2010

My vehicle, a 2006 Jeep Liberty, has a recurring problem with window regulators failing. It has happened to me twice. The windows fall down into the doors creating a major safety hazard. The falling window startled me and it happened during a downpour, creating a major driving distraction. There are thousands of complaints about this problem on the internet, but Chrysler has not issued a recall. They should do so immediately.

10 Window Regulator Failed problem of the 2007 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 09/29/2010

Jeep Liberty window regulator fail. This is a repeat occurrence, all 4 windows were replaced under warranty at 29,000 miles after 26 months of ownership under TSB 2300809 at a cost to Chrysler of $1,332. 40. Now the latest window fail happened during non-use, while I was inside my work building. This window is barely used; I hardly carry passengers. It has been 23,000 miles and 17 months since the entirely new unit was put in. * * I came out of work, and the window had slid down into the door sometime during the day. Additionally, I was unable to close the door after I used a plastic bag to cover the window due to the wire cable blocking the door latch * * this can lead to increased theft, damage from the weather, as well as to passengers (specifically a baby) in the backseat during fail. No operating windows and doors stuck open are safety concerns. * * the dealer is refusing to pay for the replacement, just under $400, even after stating I would contact Chrysler, the bbb and local news. There are copious amounts of these cases online, heavily targeting the 2007 Liberty as well as some earlier models. The level of widespread failures and amount of time this has gone on without a recall is disturbing to say the least. Currently there is also TSB 2303807 about the issue. I love Jeeps, and we have bought a cherokee, wrangler, and 2 Liberty's. This lack of doing the right thing and repeated failure makes us look to a more reliable (foreign made) vehicle as the next choice. * * summary, the window regulator starts to fail, windows start to slide off track or just drop into the door. Windows are left open and doors cannot be shut. This demands a recall.

11 Window Regulator Failed problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 09/20/2010

It is common that 2006 Jeep Liberty window regulators fail frequently. I have had all 4 of my windows fail; two of the windows have failed a second time following dealer repair. Although the rear windows are rarely used, both have fallen completely into the door while I was driving. This is clearly a dangerously flawed design that should be corrected by Jeep/Chrysler.

12 Window Regulator Failed problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 09/15/2010

Window regulator failed on driver side rear window in 2007. Regulator was replaced and covered by factory warranty. Window regulator failed on passenger rear window in 2010, not covered by factory warranty. By 2010, the window regulator had an updated design that required a new window to be purchased in addition to the regulator, as the old window would not fit properly with the new regulator.

13 Window Regulator Failed problem of the 2004 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 09/04/2010

Tl-the contact owns a 2004 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated both rear driver and passenger side window regulators failed to operate at different times, which caused the window glass to unexpectedly release in a downward motion inside the door panel. The failure occurred while driving over a railroad track and when the vehicle was stationary. The vehicle was first taken to an authorized dealer; however they were unable to perform a repair at that specific time and the contact decided to take the vehicle to an independent mechanic where they replaced the rear passenger side window regulator. The rear driver side window regulator had not been replaced; and the window glass was temporarily secured in a closed position with tape. The manufacturer was not made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 46,630. Js.

14 Window Regulator Failed problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 06/07/2010

2006 Jeep Liberty. The window regulator failed again, this is the third time on the passenger side front. Every window has failed at least once, some twice. This should be recalled. I have searched the internet for the last couple of years on this and have found hundreds of similar owners with this problem yet nothing seems to be done about it. Where is the quality and care for the consumer?.

15 Window Regulator Failed problem of the 2002 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 05/21/2010

Right rear window regulator failed and window fell into the door. After part was replaced by dealer, same window regulator failed 16 months later. This window is next to my 4 year old's car seat and is never opened. For me, this is a safety issue. Thousands of identical complaints can be found on various sites. Jeep is aware of the issue and refuses to fix it.

16 Window Regulator Failed problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 05/21/2010

17 Window Regulator Failed problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 03/10/2010

The window regulators fail on recurring basis. The front driver side window regulator failed twice and the front passenger window regulator failed recently. Two different dealers recognized this as a common failure item but charges approx $600 per repair because my Jeep is out of warranty. The dealers stated the regulator piece failing on recurring basis is made of plastic.

18 Window Regulator Failed problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 02/22/2010

Beginning on February 22, the first of three (3) window regulators failed in this vehicle. The first was the driver side rear passenger window, second was the driver's door window (6 days later) and the third was the right rear passenger window which failed yesterday (3/4/10). The rear windows have seldom been open since purchasing the vehicle new in 2006. Two of the windows slid/dropped open completely while the vehicle was underway while the third dropped open upon closing the right rear door.

19 Window Regulator Failed problem of the 2007 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 01/14/2010

I have had two of the four window regulators fail on our Jeep Liberty, what was purchased new, at the end of 2007. This failure causes the window to fall down, into the door and has been identified as a design flaw, enough that Jeep has completely re-designed the regulator and window. I had the first fail at 36,600 miles, last June (just passed warranty) and the second failed in January of this year. Loosing a window on the freeway is a severe safety issue- and not to mention how your families ears feel afterwards. There are numerous issues with the design of this window regulator, found on carcomplaints. Com, and hope that it can afford your offices attention.

20 Window Regulator Failed problem of the 2007 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 10/20/2009

07 Jeep Liberty rear driver's side power window regulator failed. Window has fallen into the door. Plastic components have a high rate of failure. Research on the internet reveals that this failure happens often on this vehicle. Loss of the window can result in personal danger in case of accident or inclement weather. Personal safety is also compromised when you are not able to keep the windows up. Loss of contents of the vehicle is possible if this were to happen while the Liberty is left unattended. My "fix" was to wire the window shut. Aftermarket parts are availble on ebay and other internet stores. Jeep's fix is to replace the window and the regulator with parts from the previous model Liberty's parts bin(a better made design). Jeep needs to recall this and make the repair at their expense.

21 Window Regulator Failed problem of the 2006 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 08/21/2009

I bought a 2006 Jeep Liberty limited on 8-20-09 in excellent condition with approximately 50,000 miles. Before I even drove the car off the dealerships lot, the rear driver's-side window/window regulator failed rendering the window inoperable. Dealership did not have part and had to seal in up position so as not to fall, while part is being ordered. Upon extensive research on the internet on various highly respected car review/rating sites, I have learned that the 2006 Jeep Liberty has a known defect in quality of window regulator design and material used which causes windows to drop into doors or cease operating routinely on average of every 2-3 months. Yesterday while driving, my rear passenger window dropped while I was driving 65 mph on a major highway in traffic. I was subsequently startled to the point I swerved, and narrowly missed hitting another car which would have caused a multiple car collision on a major interstate. I have since taped my window in the "up" position until I can resolve this issue with dealer. Dealership has informed me that they will only cover this first replacement/repair, and that I will be responsible for future window regulator repairs of $500. 00 each. This is absolutely unacceptable. A company/dealership should stand 100% behind their product and should certainly address potential safety issues resulting from something as critical as this. The known window regulator failure could cause accidents, bodily injury, theft/vandalism issues, and depreciation and degradation of vehicle interior due to weather damage. I will be filing complaints with state attorney general and car manufacturer/corporate headquarters. A safety recall should immediately be issued, and these window regulators should be redesigned with something other than plastic that has proven to repeatedly fail. While certainly an inconvenience of time, and a financial drain and stress to consumer, this is most assuredly a very serious danger to occupants & other drivers.

2003 Jeep Liberty passenger and driver rear window regulators fail and window falls down unexpectedly. Replaced twice, now replacing third window. Wrote letter to Chrysler oct. 10,2007 concerning issue - given complaint number. I requested refund for defective parts - Chrysler has not replied. Will contact again. Concern for others having small children in back. Window could fall and child could accidentally fall out of moving vehicle. Needs immediate attention.

31 Window Regulator Failed problem of the 2007 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 06/25/2008

2007 Jeep Liberty window regulators continually failing. My passenger front window regulator failed 6 months after purchasing the car. The dealer replaced it under warranty. Now the drivers window wont roll up normally. It gets crooked in the track when attempting to roll it up. I have to pull the window up with my hand while pressing the button at the same time. The passenger window has gotten slow to roll up again. It can take 30 seconds to roll up and you can here the strain on its motor. I am afraid that this load put on the reg motor will eventually cause a fire since it is put under such a tremendous strain to raise the window. The mechanic that replaced the passenger window reg. Said that all Jeep Liberty window regulators will fail due to bad design. He replaces them all the time (jokingly his partners call him the Jeep window man! ) he also stated " you are lucky because alot of window regs that fail cause the window to suddenly drop off the track and fall down into the door and usually shatter. A CO-worker of mine had this happen while driving down the freeway. Window was up and suddenly dropped down and shattered inside the door scaring him to death. This wide spread complaint by most Jeep Liberty owners had gone ignored by Jeep and they are profiting largely from it. With the average fix costing around $400 per window and most owners are replacing multiple windows, regulators, this is along the same lines as the current Toyota recalls going on. All trying to make cheap parts and reap the benefits of increased parts sales. I am afraid to roll down any of my windows and this could be deadly if a fire were to occur. Check on the amount of complaints with this issue and you will find enough complaints to force a recall. Customers are spending tremendous amounts of money to replace parts that Jeep just doesn't want to fix because the profit is to high. Please help us!!!!!!! I love Jeeps not corporate greed and customer devaluation. Thnks.
