Jeep Liberty owners have reported 513 problems related to power window (under the visibility category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Jeep Liberty based on all problems reported for the Liberty.
Rear driver side window slipped down inside the door. Unable to secure the vehicle. On 07/01/2012 front driver side window slipped down inside the door. Again, vehicle was parked and unsecured. These parts are expensive in addition to the labor cost to have the repairs made. Inability to secure the vehicle is a safety issue and weather conditions could cause additional damage to the vehicle. Note - during the first few months I owned the vehicle in 2004, the driver side window regulator motor failed and was replaced by the dealership.

I have reviewed that there are have been multiple complaints regarding faulty window regulators on these particular Chrysler vehicles. These plates in the window regulators give out causing the auto glass to slide down inside the door. I have had to have both rear regulators replaced twice and recently my front passenger regulator gave out. I have had 3 regulators replaced prior to my vehicle reaching 30,000 miles. My recent issue: my front window began to lower on its on while I was driving when I attempted to raise the window with the switch it then immediately fell down inside the door causing rain/hail to enter my vehicle while I was driving. I contacted Chrysler and they have offered no solution stating there is no recall for this part even though there are numerous consumer complaints about the faulty regulators.

The rear passenger side window regulator broke due to wear of a plastic component. The window slides down completely and causes the car to be open to the elements/thieves. The rear driver side window regulator had the same issue the previous year.

The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the rear driver side window fell into the door panel haphazardly. The vehicle was taken to a personal mechanic who replaced the window regulator. Three weeks later the failure recurred. The vehicle had not been further repaired. The failure and current mileages were 70,000.
The driver window fell into the door when the cable broke that makes the window go up and down. It is very cold when the window is open all the time, and if a person blocks the opening to keep warm and not let the rain in, they cannot see properly. (safety issue) I have owned the car about 3 years. I bought it used, so I don't know if there were problems before. But this has been a problem for me ever since I bought the car. I have been told that the window regulator goes bad and that is why the window doesn't work properly and broke the cable. I noticed that there are many complaints about this issue. Many people have spent alot of money to keep the windows working properly. I spent over $700 just to keep my driver door window proper and this is for many fixes. I did not buy the car at a Jeep dealership, so when I go in there, they are not real interested in helping me. Please make this issue a recall and help people to get their windows to work properly. Please!!!.

The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred on both passenger and rear passenger side windows. The contact had to replace both window regulators. The contact also stated that the windows would not close evenly. The vehicle was repaired both times. The manufacture was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 75,000.

When trying to roll down front driver window, it made noise and cable worm came up in between glass and door jam, flapping on inside of window. Window still worked but the cable wire would come loose sometimes and window would either not roll all the way down, or not roll down at all and other times would roll down just fine. I rolled the window down the other day and the cable wire came flapping up while the window glass is stuck inside the door. Had to pry window out of door and tape shut. Window motor still makes sound but no longer operates window.
The passenger window regulator went out. The window just went down and doesn't go up. When I push the button, for the window to go up it just makes a noise.
Jeep window regulators are defective. The driver's window made a loud noise and fell into the door. Estimated repair at the Chrysler dealership was $300 - $400 for a small plastic piece. Within six months, the remaining three windows regulators have failed and all windows are now held in place with a plastic zip tie due to the high cost of repair/replacement and Chrysler's refusal to accept responsibility for faulty design or below standard equipment. Being unable to open the vehicle's windows is definitely a safety hazard for several reasons. Certainly do not want to be pulled over and not comply with an officer's request to roll the window down - and if you open the door instead of rolling the window down - that will be perceived as a threat to the officer and only lead to a bad situation. There are so many Jeep owners with the same complaint, please investigate this matter for the safety of all drivers since Chrysler is ignoring their responsibility.

While driving on the highway at approximately 65 mph the passenger side front window fell into the door. The window regulator was what went wrong. Did alot of looking on the internet regarding this and found that it is a common problem with Jeeps. I did not know how common until driving in 20 degree weather last week and the drivers side rear window did the same thing. I have contacted Chrysler about this and was informed that it is not covered under any recall. So I now have two windows braced in the up position with 2x4's and a total loss of respect for a company that I have supported by owning their products for well over 20 years.
Power window regulator fails causing window to unexpectedly fall into the door panel. Front and rear windows failed within 3 months of each other. Multiple complaints filed on this vehicle for the same issue.

The consumer stated the same defective parts were being used as replacements.
Right rear power window regulator failed causing window to fall. Inability to close window creates cabin pressure oscillations at all speeds. These pressure changes are intense and cause a distraction and limit driver's hearing.
The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that the rear driver side door would not open from the inside or outside of the vehicle. The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Liberty diesel. The contact stated that while attempting to close one of the rear automatic windows, the vehicle exhibited a loud pop and the window would not close. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the plastic window tray fractured and caused the malfunction. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was not under warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 70,000.
The contact owns a 2003 Jeep Liberty. The contact was driving approximately 35 mph when suddenly the rear passenger side window glass released downward in the open position. The contact temporarily secured the window glass with duck tape and the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where they advised that the failure was related to a defective window regulator. The dealer also advised that the failure was a common issue with the make and model vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000. The VIN was unavailable.
Window fell in door, rear passenger on drivers side. Self replaced motor window in doorsystem. Plastic part inside snaps or shears off. Bought a replacement part that has metal stops. No problems. Have replaced all four window motors. They all snapped at different times. By husband.
On my 2003 Jeep Liberty renagade while driving home on I-15 the door light came on the dash it was obvious a window was also open as the on rush of wind, I pulled over to find the back door was ajar and the window was down, I pulled on the handle to check it out and close the door, and a red looking type of coil approx 10 inches long was sticking out and laying across the door lock and jamming the door locking device inside the door, I had to shove it back into the door lock assembly to get the door shut. This red coil is the mechanism that controls the window as my left rear window regulator has failed and the window stays all the way down. This is an ongoing problem with all four windows, the last time it was in for repair was 4 months ago and it cost me money each time, this is the second time it has caused the door to pop open while the vehicle was moving. I have had it in for window regulator problems approx 12 times. Thank you for looking into this for me as the Dodge reps just shrug their shoulders like they don't believe it or just don't care. Something has to be done about this hazard, lemon law, national news, class action , something. Next time I will take a photo , and call witnesses.
I rolled down my passenger window and when I went to roll it back up it would not roll back up. It just kept sliding down. I had to buy a suction cup to keep it up until I could get the part to fix it. Since then it has happened to my rear passenger and rear driver windows also.
Both, driver side front and rear, and passenger side rear window regulator clips are broken. All of the windows dropped down into door and are now being held up with a plastic wedge jammed in the opening to hold the windows up. Three windows on this one vehicle and thousands of other complaints online and there is no recall? when you are driving down the highway at 70 mph, while it is raining, and the window regulator clip breaks and the window drops down with no notice? this is a safety defect that should be repaired by the manufacturer.
The window regulator of my rear driver's side window broke causing the window to fall into the door. Luckily my car was parked at the time and I don't live in an area that is getting snowed on. This is at least the 12th time one of the regulators has broke since I bought my car in 2006.
Jeep 2002 window regulators keep breaking. 3rd one.
I am a 2004 Jeep Liberty owner. While driving my vehicle, I attempted to lower my passenger window on a clear sunny day. My passenger side window made a loud pop and then my window fell down. It would not go back up. I finally pulled over and tugged it up in to position and got it to close. It now will not raise or close properly. I called the dealership service department and they tell me it is the window regulator has failed. This sudden collapse of the window caused me to look immediately right to see what I thought was something hitting my vehicle. Then the surprise of my window dropping while driving in traffic. This could have caused me to make a sudden driving error causing an accident as it scared me when it happened. It was a very loud pop sound ! I called the dealership service department and I was told it would be about $500. 00 to fix. After researching this on the web, I see I am one of thousands with defective windows that drop for no reason in these doors of the Jeep Liberty. Some 6-7 times. We as consumers deserve better from Chrysler. If you check the service records for this problem it should stand out like a sore thumb. We desperately need a recall of for this part of the vehicle that the dealerships are willing to replace while under warranty and acknowledge there is a problem and replace the defective ones but once the warranty expires then we are on our own. The problem is in the design itself. The window regulator is causing problems that are a safety concern and hazard. Please investigate this issue with the Jeep Liberty. Customer service is no help. They tell me to pay the repair expense (caused by the manufacturer's cheaply made product) then send in my receipt and it may get reviewed. This is a safety issue. There are too many that are having to be replaced. This is a problem. I urge someone to launch an investigation into this. This is not Jeep quality that I thought I was purchasing when I paid the huge amount for this vehicle brand new.
Driving down the road at 40 mph. Was not rolling up or down the power windows, when the back window suddenly fell from being closed to half open. It would not roll back up. It was startling and distracted my driving momentarily. Faulty regulators were the cause of previous failures and the broken glass and I expect the same determination will be made when I bring it to a Jeep dealership later this week for repair. The most recent (Nov. 29, 2010) failure on the driver's side back window was the second time this occurred on this particularly window. Previous repairs involved window and regulator replacement. This is a massive problem with Jeep Liberty suvs and a real serious safety concern in my opinion.
Driver side rear power window regulator broke 2 times within 6 months. (same window) dropped while driving - 1st time it broke it was repaired costing me $259. 52 - 2nd time it broke I have a temp fix holding window up b/c I'm not wasting $ to fix it if it is just going to break again in 6 months. . I cant afford to keep fixing something Jeep should have recalled. This is a well known Jeep Liberty 06 problem.
2007 Jeep Liberty - window regulator, window regulator fails at random. Has occurred at least 5 times in two years, currently I pay $100/incident to have this repaired (because it is in warranty). This has become so common that Chrysler has advised dealerships to replace the regulator with an updated model at customer's expense, which has occurred with both of my rear windows. Now my driver's side window has failed for the second time and will have to be repaired this upcoming week.
The rear passenger side window fell off of its track and fell down inside the door, where my 3 year old daughter was seated, while the vehicle was being driven 65 mph down a major highway, on the way to visit family out of state. I had a similar incident a year ago, but with the driverside window. This window track was covered under warranty but the glass had to be paid out of pocket (because of a change done to the new track). The recent passenger side window is in the process of being repaired.
Window regulator inside the rear passenger door broke and caused the worm cord to shoot out of the door locking mechanism. Therefore the window fell inside of door and door would not shut or lock and the window will no longer mechanically move up or down.
Passenger side, back window is stuck in the down position on my 2004 Jeep Liberty.
My car was parked, when the regulator for the back passengers side window broke causing the window to fall completely into the door. This is at least the 13 time one of the regulators has broken in my Liberty. This time I was lucky because my car was parked. There have been several times it has broken while driving which is a safety concern for my passengers. Jeep has not yet recalled the part even though they have acknowledged that the part is faulty.
Jeep Liberty window falling inside door -- eighth (8th) time on this vehicle. Safety issue because of children riding in the rear seat and window is unable to be brought to a close. I bought this Liberty new and have garaged it the entire time but the repair parts are worthless. Why won't Chrysler be forced to repair these windows with parts that do not break?.
I purchased a used 2006 Jeep Liberty 4x4 last December and since that time I have had to replace 4 broken window regulators. Clearly these plastic regulators are substandard and easily break. There appear to be hundreds, if not thousands of complaints online relating to the same problem.
