47 Suspension Noise problem of the 2011 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 01/28/2013

Brought to dealer for the same noises I've been complaining about for the past 9 months. The old tires were balanced and rotated prior to the second (noise/suspension) complaint to the dealer 5/10/12. Immediately prior to this Jan 2013 appointment I replaced scalloped tires with 4 brand new tires, balanced and I paid for the alignment. I still get helicopter sounding noise at high speed and asked that the suspension which was verified as not the problem back in may 2012 be checked again. A technician went for a drive with me and heard it. The dealership said that two tires were unbalanced. Back where I bought the tires, I had them re-do the balance and align. Still not happy with the same noise. I again brought the car back to the dealer Mar 2013 and I told them to send a repo truck to my house if the noise is not found. I knew I was going to pay for balance/align only this time the tech finally says that multiple parts have been replaced on the same model for the same noise and nothing gets rid of it, the noise was described to me as a "common Liberty sound" and that it comes from the power-train with no remedy. Every time I go in for an answer, I'm offered some other service which "may" be needed. This time it was rear brake pads and rotors. Not the cause of the thumping helo-pad noise, decline.

50 Suspension Noise problem of the 2005 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 11/01/2011

I was on my way home from my job early and I had noticed a funny grinding sound when I pulled out of my parking space. I got out, checked around the truck and saw nothing. I then drove home about 7 miles from my house my car had began going right then left and I was unable to steer it at all. I was fortunate that I was not going fast and I was able to stop and pull into a parking lot. I would have crashed if this had happened minutes before when I was on the interstate. I had my car towed to the nearest garage and learned that the rear suspension control arms had both completely rusted through and the only thing keeping my Jeeps rear end together was a sway bar. The mechanic says he had never seen anything like it. I have contacted Chrysler also. I purchased the car in connecticut.

53 Suspension Noise problem of the 2002 Jeep Liberty

Failure Date: 03/12/2009

I had just backed out of a parking space in a busy parking lot, drove forward about 20 feet going no more than 7-10 mph, then made a left - still within the parking lot. When turning, I heard a grinding noise, then suddenly, the front end of my 2002 Jeep Liberty renegade collapsed onto the front tire of the driver's side. The upper ball joint of the vehicle had completely separated, knocking the wheel off in the process. This incident occurred in the late afternoon on a Sunday (when mechanics are not open). Aaa towed the Jeep to a local garage nearby; however, on Monday morning, I called Chrysler to file a complaint about what had happened. My call was picked up by an overseas customer service rep. He told me that if I could have the car towed to a Chrysler dealer, they would see what they could do about covering the repair, but to call back after they'd spoken with the dealer. Later that afternoon, I called back. Long story short, my call was escalated to a guy in detroit, who at first said that the call center rep had no business suggesting that my repair would be covered. When I told him I have photos of what happened to the car, he authorized the repair. The dealer had to replace the upper control arm and ball joint, and the brake line which was severed when the front end collapsed! I asked the dealer for the defective parts. He said Chrysler would want them because they were covering it "under warranty. " this is a major defect and safety issue - one of many in the 2002 Jeep Liberty. I shudder to think what would have happened if I had pulled out onto the busy highway! while I was happy that Chrysler covered this cost, the car needed further adjustments when it was returned to me as the suspension felt loose and the vehicle was pulling to the left and shaking. The dealer said these were all unrelated (?!), and charged me for those repairs.
