My Jeep is making winding and grinding noises. I thought that it was the ball joints which Chrysler eventually agreed to replace since it is considered a repeat recall for them but the noise, vibration and shimmy in the steering has persisted and the service dept. At the dealer informed me that I also need control arms and sway bar links. The service rep told me that it was not considered to be normal wear and tear. I contacted Chrysler and the person assigned to my case told me he would get back to me to follow up. Days later when I finally tracked him down in between his breaks and phone calls he told me that the dealer told him that it was just normal wear and tear. I haven't taken my car off road and it hasn't been in the snow or on salty roads. The last time that I tried to reach him I was told that he did not work on wednesdays. Still no response from Chrysler from anyone regarding whether or not its a safety concern that they will cover or assist with. I updated my case with the info that I would add to your ongoing investigation if I did not receive an update regarding assistance from them. The Jeep is 5 yrs. Old and is still making a horrible noise on the front driver's side and I cannot get a response of any kind from Chrysler. I have a power train warranty in effect until the end of November. Please let me know if you can assist with expediting this matter with Chrysler since I do not feel safe driving the Jeep in this condition. Originally, I was told by my case manager that everything including the control arms and sway bar links would be replaced along with the ball joints but now I'm being told that it was a miscommunication because its normal wear and tear. Thank you, monica barronton 786. 301. 3003.

While traveling on a curvy state route, I noticed that my Jeep wasnt handling the turns quite as well as normal. Once I arrived in town, I made a stop at traffic light and when I began to move again, I noticed a very loud grinding sound near my passenger side rear tire and felt my vehicle begin to fishtail as I accelerated more. Fortunately, I was able to safely come to a stop in a restaurant parking lot and inspect the vehicle. At that time I noticed a rusted piece of metal that had seperated itself from the frame and sway bar. I also inspected the other side, and observed obvious and excessive corrossion on the opposite side as well. Had the complete seperation of this part happened while I was driving on the curvy roads or on an interstate at highway speeds, it without a doubt would have caused severe vehicle damage and had major potential for driver and passenger injury or even loss of life. Fortunately, the worst case scenario didnt happen, but, I am still left without transportation, as this was my only vehicle. This vehicle had to be towed on a flat bed tow truck and is still awaiting repair.

I reported a noise during operating my Jeep Liberty, ltd. 4 wd over bumps and turns. I purchased the vehicle with 5 miles on 8/13/2002. 3/21/2003 at 11638 miles, the service shop made a warranty claim - lubed the bushings. 4/28/2003 at 12932 miles, the service shop made another warranty claim -sleeve & strap was replaced. 2/9/2004, at 25045 miles, the service shop made yet another warranty claim -replaced the sway bar bushings & links. I also had lower ball joints replaced for a recall. 4/16/2004, service shop repositions the ft shield at ft suspension. The noise never went away. At the service shops advice, I needed to bring it in if the noise became worse. Yeah right! two other mechanics suggested steering/suspension related. On 4/09/2006, I had my car inspected by the dealership service once again for the worsen noise. The service team replaced the rear center ball joint at a cost of $276. 17 and returned my vehicle. With my warranty running out, the service team has supposedly found more serious part changes, of course. On 6/15/2006, the service team replaced the lower ball joint due to wear and repaired a leak in my tire at the cost of $224. 05. I also have noticed vehicle pulling to the right. In addition to having paid for services with my warranty still effective, I have further developed other serious car issues. I have a leak in my rear differential and my brake light & abs lights are on. I had to stop at a service station to fill my tire from 10 psi! although the service department would like me to bring back my car, I do not believe they have the experience for a fourth visit. On my last trip to the dealership, I had requested that if there are any parts replaced to please save the old part. Upon my pick up of the vehicle, I did not receive these parts. I have purchased an extended warranty end of July for 1,600. 00 just in case.
