Car Stall Problems of Jeep Renegade - part 2

The 2. 4 lt engine is consuming oil at an accelerated rate. About 2. 5 qts every 1000 miles. At times this causes the car to stall when accelerating and turning into traffic. This has been ongoing since the car was purchased and before the first scheduled oil change. The deal is recommending replacing the engine after 3-4 services. The dealership has us bringing the car into for service topping off the oil and having us report back every 1000 miles.

Tl the contact owns a 2017 Jeep Renegade. While driving approximately 25 mph, the contact attempted to slow down and depressed the brake pedal. When the brake pedal was released, the vehicle lost acceleration and stalled. The contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road and "press the brake pedal, push start button to start engine" appeared on the message center. After a couple of attempts, the vehicle restarted. The vehicle was not diagnosed by the dealer or an independent mechanic. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 35,000.

Vehicle purchased brand new was making left, low oil light came on, and vehicle wanted to stall. I called in to dealer to discuss since I was already bringing it in for a passive entry light on dash warning light. They said bring it in right away. My next oil change was over 1000 miles away from being due & they said it was down 2 quarts. I drove 250 miles until my next appointment for the other repair problem 2 weeks later and there was less than 1/2 notch left of oil on the dipstick. The engine was given a fresh oil change and now must be checked every 500 miles to determine if it's an engine consumption case. My other 2 oil changes were free to use within 1 year so in order to not loose them my oil changes were performed well before they were due.

Was on a highway doing about 67 mph and I felt a loss of power but still had my foot on the gas pedal. From there the Renegade started puttering and stalling. Had half a tank of gas. Almost felt like it was running out of gas.

Vehicle stalls without warning or error message. Generally when starting on a steep hill or when accelerating quickly from stop as in when entering a freeway onramp. I drive mostly in the city with lots of hills. Vehicle does start back up, but tends to be more prone to stalling once its happened. I think it may be linked to oil pressure since that message did come up once of the 20 times its happened. When oil is topped off it doesn't seem to happen, but there is no warning about oil being low or low pressure generally. I looked this up on a Jeep Renegade forum and it appears a bunch of people have had the issue. 2018 versions of this vehicle appear to have a recall in effect for 2 different issues that sound identical to what im experiencing. My guess is that the current recalls should apply to my vehicle as well. Id mainly like to make you aware of the issue, but also get any update about whether a recall for my vehicle is likely as id rather not pay for these repairs out of pocket as they seem complex.

My 2017 Jeep Renegade stalled on the highway. I took it to my Jeep dealership and after only two years they have to replace the engine. I always did the oil maintenance as recommended. I have found there are numerous complaints from other owners of that same year having the same engine issues. There are 5 pages of complaints on car complaints. Com. This is so upsetting to me since I could have been in a serious crash when my Renegade stalled on the highway while in motion. Why wasn't there a recall??.

2015 Jeep Renegade limited 4x4 has stalled while driving on 3 separate occasions since purchasing it used from dealership in January 2019. It stalls while in stop and go traffic without any warning. I have to put in park, push the start button to turn it off, and then push the button again with foot on break to start it again. Thankfully this has only happened while driving slowly (10-15 mph) in a line of cars towards a stop sign however this is extremely unsafe!.

One month ago my car stalled as I accelerated to no one into traffic. The engine light was on and I was directed to put the car in park, put on the brake and restart. On 8/25/19 the car stalled as I waited for the light to change.

Car would not give gas and completely stalled out on me, and cut off!! it would not turn back on for several minutes. I almost got reamed by a large dump truck because this happened in the middle of a back windy road!! also, my car is slipping out of gear from 1st, 2nd, and 3rd! dealership tells me I was almost out of oil???? how can this be? I get regular oil changes, and funny thing is, they always tell me I'm low!!?? I'm first owner, purchased in November 2017! only have 36,000 miles! now dealership telling me this is "normal" for Renegade? why wasnt I informed before purchasing!!! this is a major sadety hazard! I was almost seriously injured, the dump truck screached to a halt by a matter of inches!!!!.

The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to NHTSA. The contact stated that the failure was similar to NHTSA campaign number: 18v731000 (fuel system, gasoline). The failure mileage was 29,000.

Vehicle has stalled twice now. Once on a mountain road around a danger curb and also on a highway. Luckily, both times was able to pull to side of the road. It always starts back up but extremely terrified to drive it. Brought to Jeep dealership and they can not find a problem. Also, oil light comes on regularly now with low oil. Burning a lot of fuel. I know for a fact I am not the only one experiencing this issues. They are all over the internet. My wife has a Renegade as well and her's stalled out once. I feel like Jeep is not taking this seriously. Someone will get killed if this keeps happening.

Every time I get a oil change I have to replace the oil by the courts in between changes as well the oil pressure light comes on when I make turns or it may stall.

Fuel pump module: issues addressed by recall remain unresolved. Was told by dealer that there was a part available, then had our appointment cancelled because they had run out. Driving the car with this issue is dangerous as the car tends to stall when accelerating onto a highway or when making a turn. We have barely avoided accidents on several occasions due to stalling, including one with a semi-truck. Engine: hard idle when cold. Engine rattles loudly. Power train: when car is accelerated to 30 mph range, it "hiccups" or jerks when accelerator is pressed. We have taken the car in for this issue numerous times, but every time we are told that the "computer isn't picking anything up" and problem remains unresolved.

The contact was able to add oil to the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to barbera autoland (7810 e roosevelt blvd, philadelphia, PA 19152, (215) 333-3700) where it was diagnosed that the engine block was cracked. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000. The VIN was unknown.

Vehicle stalled on a hill without warning. Towed to dealership and was told it had 1 quart of oil at 979 miles. At 700 miles when checked it was in normal range.

Purchased the Renegade brand new and have had it stall several times. Brought it to the local Jeep dealership and they said they are unaware of the issue. Got the oil changed and not even 2,000 miles later stalled again and when I checked the oil, it was empty. This is a huge if not imperative safety issue for someone to be driving down the interstate for a vehicle with 54,000 miles now to just stall. This is appalling that this issue has not been addressed and or recalled. Is it going to take casualties to get something done? the first time it stalled the oil light cane on as I was stopped at a stop sign. The next was driving down the same street at the same stop sign. Recently I was driving on a busy street and thankfully there were no cars behind me and was able to get to the side of the road.

First, speaker keeps going in and out then 12v port was dead. Screen shot off a few times. Hands free access stopped working a few times. Now for the 3rd time (3 different stall outs), the car is shutting off on its own while driving. This last time, it acted like it was in another shift other than drive and when I put it in park it ran rough then just died. Came back on like nothing happened after shutting off and restarting.

I can be driving and the engine will just cut out. Will start again but stops every few minutes. This happened also when I purchased it in October 2018. The dealership had it for two weeks and said there was nothing wrong with it. It finally just stopped stalling on it's own but now it has returned!.

The car stalls frequently with no warning at speed and also when executing a stop. It uses a huge amount of oil, 5 qts between changes. I took it to the dealer and they told me that this car stalls if the oil level is low. This means they recognize an issue and have done nothing about it. How would I know this, and how low does the oil have to be to stall? this is not normal and if it is 'normal' why have they not told all Renegade owners? I will never feel safe in this car because if it stalls on the freeway at 60 mph I will most certainly have a crash.

I have had the oil changed using the recommended weight at the recommended times/mileage and have run out of oil before the next scheduled oil maintenance for the appropriate miles/time causing me to stall. This has happened for a total of three oil changes and started around my 2nd year with the vehicle at 30000 miles. The stall happens on hills or when accelerating quickly or going around corners quickly. I lose pressure and sputter and stall. It has been dangerous a few times already.

My stalled 3 times in 2 weeks. Twice I was slowing to take a turn-this happened a week apart in the same exact turn. Twice I was driving about 20 mph. This happened on 4-21-19, 4-27-19 and 4-30-19. I have approx 5200 miles. I called Chrysler and they said there were no recalls, that I probably do not need an oil change (she checked on this information). When the light goes on or 7-8,000 miles I should schedule one. No dash indicator lights come on. Each time I am able to guide my car out of traffic. I shut off radio, wipers and all electrical and after I hit to restart it sounds like it is really trying, but it eventually does start. I stalled this morning (5-1-19) and I was almost rear ended as it was so sudden. The car behind me had to swerve. I put on my hazards. I called Chrysler corporate because my dad hears something about the 2. 4l engine being recalled. Chrsyler corporate told me to bring it to the dealer and either way should be covered (warranty or added to recall). The dealer had no record of recalls and said I needed an oil change. That is ridiculous that needing an oil change could be such a dangerous thing. I find that hard to believe. I have had this Jeep since oct 2018. I am very scared now. I commute to boston in the tunnels and on the tobin bridge during busy rush hour. So disappointed these dangerous problems are happening - and so soon after purchasing. My customer care # from my call into Chrysler (fca - fiat Chrysler automobiles), which they closed even though it wasn't resolved, is 57585393. Called them 4-30-19 also, sometimes when I turn my wheel to take a sharp turn a bell dings one. It has happened about 6 times since owning.

Since 21000 miles (first instence) we have had issues with the car shutting off , and losing all power to the gas and break, almost causing a wreck. I was turning left and the engine sputrered, then as the wheel straightened up it completely lousy all gas, and break function as if it was not idling. About every 3-4 weeks after it would stall, but not lose complete control. We started to notice it was using excessive amounts of oil, after acknowledging first couple issues. We are currently having it looked at, as the electrical components would not allow us to start the engine at all, we are currently at 30,000 miles. Car is 1. 5 years old , problems arose 5 months ago.

August 24th, 2018, trip to colorado, driving on highway, went to exit and the car stalled all the warning lights came on, took to dealership, they didn't know what happened, codes reset. Milage 15000 March 27, 2019, turned on car, the radio didn't work and the mileage was flashing, turned the car off and let sit for a minute or two, turned back on, the radio still didn't work and the mileage was flashing. Radio came back on eventually. Drove home and the car was sluggish and not shifting like usual. . . So mad to to dealership and told them to not give it back to me until fixed. Mileage 29800 this car was brand new when I purchased it February 2018. This should not be happening especially since you guys have been sued for the exact same things in 2015. . . . Is it going to take another class action suit to get you to pay attention????.

The governor randomly kicks in during city and highway driving (below 80 mph), stalling out the vehicle.

The trunk pop open if you have anything to close to it. After starting the car then driving the car will stall in the middle of the road. You have to put the car in park. And give it a few mins. Then try to restart the car. Then you can go. If you hit the radio buttons to fast it will turn the volume all the way up and will be stuck there till you turn off the car and reset the radio.

This occurred after an accident, damaging the front bumper and grill of the vehicle. The day after the accident, vehicle stalls once while driving. The following day, vehicle drives as if putting in gas while in park, but is still able to drive along with stopping and going while accelerating. Now, the vehicle cannot accelerate past 15 mph, and still hold the problems previously mentioned.

Takata recall - took vehicle in for service 12/10/18, took a trip to yosemite on 12/25/18 before leaving home my husband checked my oil and I was half way down my oil stick. How is that possible when I just took my car in for service? I was maybe a little more then 1000 miles. No oil light came on. This is the second time, the first time I was way less than my oil change mileage we was heading to la and half way there my car started stalling we pulled over and checked the oil when the car cooled off and my husband notice I had no oil it was at the bottom line on my oil stick. We had to rush to get oil for my car. No oil light came on, thank god we made it safely to napa to purchase oil.

My car just about stalled but it kept going. But then it got stuck in third gear. I drive all the way to the dealership. They said they never heard bout this problem. Well I just bought the vehicle in 2018 February.

My Jeep has stalled out while I'm in drive three times within the last 24 hours. Oil is fresh and has full tank of gas.

The vehicle switched gears on its own, couldn't recognize when I tried to put it in park or any other gear, and stalled out on me. Now shows that the power steering needs to be serviced.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer where an oil change was performed, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided case number: 88513705. The approximate failure mileage was 5,000.

Vehicle stalling and dying while trying to drive. I can sit for 10 min and it hesitates so I have to put it in park and stop (sometime while in the middle of the road) it seems if I leave it running for about 20 min it will do this then the whole front end shakes and it automatically shuts its self off. And in order to drive it I have to leave it turned off for about 30 min then it will run ok. . . I've taken it to my local dealership twice they can seem to replicate it (if they even really tried to) I just purchased this less than two months ago had only 6 miles on it. Its a 2018 Jeep Renegade limited 2x4.
