46 Cooling Fan problem of the 2016 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 06/30/2018

Cooling fan started rattling very loud. It seems to be loose. Vehicle has 40114 miles. Research on internet confirms that this is a very common problem and Jeep redesigned their cooling fan for replacements and newer vehicle. This should be a recall sinc it is a known problem!!!.

47 Cooling Fan problem of the 2015 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 06/29/2018

My car started running hot while on the road. I was able to get to auto mechanic and they found radiator cooling fan has locked up. Needs to be replaced after only 60,000 miles, 3 year old car. This is dangerous problem if I were on a long road trip. Please recall vehicle for this problem since it seems very common.

48 Cooling Fan problem of the 2015 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 05/16/2018

The radiator cooling fan malfunctioned after just 50,000 miles. Vehicle is only 2 1/2 years old. Jeep will not cover this under warranty as they say it isn't part of the drivetrain. After reading numerous complaints about this problem on your database I feel this is a known manufacturer's defect that should be recalled. Failure can happen at any time and could result in a blown motor and/or other damages resulting in a vehicle crash causing serious injury or death. It's time that the NHTSA acts for the consumer and forces Jeep to a recall and replacement of the fan. Normal life expectancy of electric fans is well over 5 years/100,000 miles. This particular fan is, in most cases, not even lasting half that time. The problem is so widespread that Jeep ran out of them and had/has long wait times. During this period the vehicle is unusable. This is really unacceptable for such a newer model vehicle.

49 Cooling Fan problem of the 2015 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 04/16/2018

The radiator cooling fan is vibrating itself off. The vehicle had low mileage still- under 45,000. Looked it up and there are numerous people with the same issue and apparently the part is back ordered for months, which means I am paying for a vehicle I cannot drive. Seems like a manufacturer issue to me. There should be a recall.

50 Cooling Fan problem of the 2015 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 03/29/2018

A loud wobbling sound was noticed from the engine bay of the vehicle. Investigation of the sound revealed the radiator cooling fan to be vibrating violently while engaged. Shortly after this discovery the fan failed to engage. Vehicle was taken to steve landers Jeep located at 401 colonel glenn plaza loop little rock, ar 72210. The diagnosis was confirmed to be the radiator cooling fan had failed. The vehicle was out of original manufacture warranty at 54,600 miles. Fan was replaced at the dealership at my expense.

51 Cooling Fan problem of the 2016 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 03/02/2018

Just like sooo many people online out radiator cooling fan started wobbling and now grinding. There are so many forums, sites and videos that show this is happening to a lot of people. A recall is not yet in effect but it needs to be ASAP. Cost is 400-1000 for each repair. And don't let them try to say it's an issue of dirt. It's usually around 36,000 miles so don't wait to fix it as the warrenty will expire.

52 Cooling Fan problem of the 2016 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 02/15/2018

Started running hot out of the blue. Checked fuses and the main fuse to the fan was blown. Replaced the fuse but the fan still is not turning on. Vehicle is still running hot and producing smoke/steam along with a burning smell. The symptoms started while waiting in stopped traffic but seemed to clear up while moving, then got worse while sitting idle with ac unit on. I have been reading up on if there are issues related to mine and there seem to be a lot of issues with the cooling fan. Why is this not a recall??.

53 Cooling Fan problem of the 2016 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 02/15/2018

At about 41000 miles when the cooling fan started to wobble and started to smell. Took it in to get it repaired. It was the cooling fan. After doing some research, over 1000s have had this issue due to faulting bearings in the fan. I urge to demand a recall on this.

54 Cooling Fan problem of the 2015 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 02/12/2018

Engine cooling ran making screeching noise and wobbling on shaft. Sounds like the fan is contacting something.

55 Cooling Fan problem of the 2016 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 01/27/2018

Cooling fan shakes rattles isn't working properly car gives off an antifreeze smell or electrical smell when fan malfunctions.

56 Cooling Fan problem of the 2016 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 12/05/2017

3 weeks ago I heard a wobbling sound under the hood while the car was idling. It was a day later I was able catch what it was making the noise which is the cooling fan. I had it towed to the dealership not wanting to drive it for fear of overheating. The issue was confirmed there and after two false arrival dates I spoke to the dealership and thy finally admitted there was no date for the arrival of the new fan. I am now paying for a car I have no idea when I will get back. My job requires me to travel long distances and the older car I am using now is not very reliable for this type of travel.

57 Cooling Fan problem of the 2015 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 11/20/2017

This 2015 Jeep Renegade began having a thumping noise coming from under the hood. After seeing that it was the cooling fan, I took measures to get the car to the dealer to get it repaired. Before that happened, the fan went out completely. The vehicle is 2 years old, has 41, 000 miles on it and is still covered by the extended warranty. I was told by southpoint Chrysler Dodge Jeep (who I purchased the vehicle from) that they cannot obtain the part, and they refused to open a claim with the extended warranty company so that I could get a rental car. The extended warranty company will not provide me with a rental car because the dealer will not start the claim process. Right now my Jeep is at the dealer, who was happy to inform me that if I drove it off the lot and it overheated, my 100,000 mile power train warranty would be void. After contacting fiat Chrysler, I still have not obtained any kind of relief. I have a $25,000 car that is basically a brick. I have an extended warranty that is worthless. The administrators of the extended warranty contract actually suggested using aftermarket replacement parts, which would void my power train warranty. The cooling fan issue is a common problem with the 2. 4 liter tigershark engine. Some owners have experienced their cars catching on fire when the fan melts. Fiat Chrysler knows it is a problem, yet thousands of these tigershark equipped cars are experiencing this problem. It should be a recall issue but they are avoiding responsibility.

58 Cooling Fan problem of the 2015 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 11/14/2017

Twice now my engine cooling fan motor has failed and caused my vehicle to overheat. I was lucky the first time it was under warranty. This time my car was parked idling about 5 minutes with sleeping children when the cab filled with smoke and woke the adult. Wake up Chrysler!.

59 Cooling Fan problem of the 2015 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 11/11/2017

Cooling fan is bad. Housing comes loose and fan hits other parts on the vehicle causing it to overheat and smoke. This is a known issue with no recall! have been told that the part has been on back order for months! now vehicle is out of warranty.

60 Cooling Fan problem of the 2015 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 11/04/2017

The cooling fan "burned out" on my 2015 Jeep Renegade. On November 4, 2017, I was traveling i10 e bound from houston, TX to rayne, la (3 hr drive) to attend my younger brother's wedding when the check engine light came on and my car ran hot. Luckily for me I was at the exit ramp to get to my parent's house when it happened. I got out of the vehicle and I saw, and smelled smoke. I then called my dad (who literally lives a minute or less from where I was) for him to come and check out what was wrong with the vehicle. He looked under the hood, fluids were all in tact, nothing seemed out of place, he basically couldn't see what was wrong with it. He then started the car and watched the temperature gauge and noticed that it hadn't spiked up so he drove it off the exit and home. The car sat all night and wasn't driven again until the next day when my dad drove it to advanced auto. The employee connected the machine to check for errors but nothing came back. My dad started the engine again, looked under the hood and noticed that the fan wasn't spinning. He checked the fuse for the fan, noticed the metal piece inside had split, so we bought another fuse. Put the fuse in, started the engine and a second later the fuse popped and smoke appeared. I've called several cdjr places between louisiana and texas and they're all telling me that it'll take up to 4 months before the part comes in and get fixed because it is on back order. It is frustrating for me because this is my only source of transportation. Obviously this should be considered a recall if this many people are having the same issue since I can't get it fixed within the next 4 months and I've been quoted $600+ to get it fixed.

61 Cooling Fan problem of the 2015 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 10/19/2017

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Renegade. While driving approximately 30 mph, the temperature gauge suddenly increased to high. The contact stopped the vehicle and had it towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the cooling fan was faulty and needed to be replaced. An unknown dealer was contacted and stated that parts were not available. The manufacturer was not notified. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 36,000.

62 Cooling Fan problem of the 2015 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 10/15/2017

On October 12th the car started making an odd noise driving in the city (never off road). I didn't drive it again until October 14th and it was making the noise again. We were trying to drive to the dealership but the car started smoking near the engine compartment and we drive it to my mechanic. He said the fan had stopped working. We called the arrigo dealership in fort pierce who said I need a fan assembly unit and needed to pay $263 upfront. The part is on backorder and should take 1-2 months but may be longer. Once it is delivered it would cost $260 for labor. Since my car has 49,000 miles on it and the warranty ended at 36,000 the repair isn't covered and no loaner car will be provided. Also, do not drive the car to prevent engine damage. What? so my mechanic called around to find the part elsewhere. He spoke to schumacher Jeep and the service department said it is a know issue and asked my mechanic if he would like to be put on the waiting list. When he asked how long the waiting list is, the gentleman replied there are approx 4700 parts request before us and there is no eta at this time it could be 1-4 months. This is utterly ridiculous. When I search the net, there are soooooooo many similar issues and Jeep is saying this is not a recall. . Read more...

65 Cooling Fan problem of the 2015 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 09/25/2017

Upon starting the ignition, the engine cooling fan (directly behind the grill), began shaking and wobbling loudly. It was taken to the dealership and it began smoking there as well. There is a back order on the replacement fan and it is apparently a common problem from what we were told. We have about 34,000 miles on the vehicle.

66 Cooling Fan problem of the 2015 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 09/24/2017

Audible radiator fan wobble noticed 9/22/17. Opened hood to see fan clearly out of balance/wobbling violently in housing. Fan stopped functioning 9/24, spiking coolant temperatures and triggering check engine light. Code read as p0481 obd-ii trouble code: cooling fan 2 control circuit malfunction. Replaced relay and checked wire connections to verify issue lies with fan. Issue spans across 2015-2016 Renegades, parts on backorder with 4000-7000 waiting nationwide, not an isolated instance.

67 Cooling Fan problem of the 2017 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 09/19/2017

68 Cooling Fan problem of the 2016 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 09/17/2017

Radiator cooling fan failure (seized). Parts on backorder lead-time 2 months. This happened while driving on city streets. Had a burning smell with smoke coming from the front of the vehicle. Stopped to check the motor, discovered the radiator cooling fan was not running. Pushed the fan blade, it was seized. The water temp got up to 250+, high temperature light came on, stopped and let it cool down enough to get it to the dealership. Cooled to 130, drove approx. 5 miles to the dealership and left it at the night drop (Sunday 9/17/2017).

69 Cooling Fan problem of the 2015 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 09/13/2017

Cooling fan motor smoking perfusely. And wobbling making a rattling sound, working intermitently.

70 Cooling Fan problem of the 2016 Jeep Renegade

Failure Date: 09/01/2017

This vehicles electric cooling fan has worn out with less then 45,000 miles. After calling around to different dealerships and parts departments. Information obtained is there are more then 2500 back orders for this part. We will have to wait 3 to 4 weeks before we could see this part being delivered to make repairs. Seems to me that if you have this many back orders then maybe there is an issue with the part.
