The contact owns a 2010 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the vehicle accelerated without the accelerator pedal being depressed. The contact powered off the vehicle in order to stop the failure. Once the vehicle was restarted, the engine rpms increased excessively while the vehicle was in park. The automatic throttle control sensor warning light also illuminated when the failure occurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but the contact was not told what caused the failure. The failure and the current mileages were 39,000. Updated 03/115/lj the dealer replaced the accelerator pedal position sensor and cleared the code. Updated 04/10/13.

2 Accelerator Pedal Sensor problem of the 2012 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 12/15/2011

The contact owns 2012 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph the vehicle suddenly stalled. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The technicians replaced the sensor and switch in the brake pedal and the map sensor. The failure recurred. Additionally the contact noticed the vehicle revs up suddenly while driving at low speeds. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 1,000.

3 Accelerator Pedal Sensor problem of the 2008 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 10/01/2011

2008 Jeep Wrangler. Consumer states potential safety hazard with the electronic throttle control the consumer stated he was driving on the highway, when suddenly the vehicle slowed down and the electronic throttle control light illuminated. The dealer found the accelerator pedal position sensor needed to be replaced.
