1 Accelerator Stuck problem of the 2016 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 10/09/2020

My wife has had her gas pedal stick on her on three separate occasions, and I have had it stick on me once (10-4-20). The first time it did it to her was about a month or so ago, and then it did it to her twice this morning on her way to work (10-9-20). It seems to only do it under a hard acceleration. The pedal will drop to the floor, rpm will shoot up, and it will not disengage for a good 10 seconds or so. I have verified that the floor matt is not obstructing the path of the pedal. This seem sto be a common problem among the jk Jeeps, but nothing has been done about it.

2 Accelerator Stuck problem of the 2005 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 05/22/2019

: I am the owner of a 2005 Jeep Wrangler. For the last 10+ years my accelerator has stuck at full throttle 5-7 times. Every time I have taken it to a shop - they have test driven it but no sticking. Last Wednesday (5/22) at a 4 way stop sign my accelerator stuck again at full throttle & I hit a car. No one was hurt, but I was given a citation with witnesses to the accelerator being stuck. The man at the shop told me his Jeep Wrangler had a recall for the same issue. I contacted Jeep corporation & filed a report (case # 58619966) with a worker "aly". She told me to park my Jeep and an inspector would be there to investigate. That was more than a week ago & 5 calls to 1-877-426-5337. Can you help me? my insurance CO. Wants me to get estimates for my damage but I don't know if I can drive on the road due to the accelerator sticking & not being inspected by Jeep recall inspectors. Please help me. . . . 4 Accelerator Stuck problem of the 2013 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 03/18/2018

I was on a highway doing 45 mph. The speed limit is 55 so I proceeded to pass when it cleared only to have the gas pedal stick. I reached speeds over 90 mph before I was able to get the edge of my shoe under the pedal to get it unstuck. I was extremely lucky no other vehicle was in front of the one I passed. This could have easily cost me my life and possibly others as well.

5 Accelerator Stuck problem of the 2014 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 02/15/2018

While driving on highway in passing gear the gas pedal gets stuck and accelerates continually while having to keep left foot on brake pumping gas with right foot to disengage the gas pedal. This has now happened 6 times in a month. Extremely scary and dangerous!.

Gas/accelerator pedal sticking, causing vehicle to throttle and accelerate uncontrollably and the engine to rev when the clutch is pressed. This happens while driving.

7 Accelerator Stuck problem of the 2012 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 05/15/2017

On 3 occasions my Jeep Wrangler's accelerator pedal has stuck to the floor. Shifting to neutral would not bring the pedal up. Manually pulling the pedal would not make a change. Twice I had to turn off the car in mid traffic. The third time I was able to coast to the side of the road.

8 Accelerator Stuck problem of the 2014 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 06/23/2016

On 6/23/16, I was driving my 2014 Jeep Wrangler unlimited sahara on a highway at approximately 65 mph. I accelerated to merge into the left lane and then, after letting up on the gas pedal, the vehicle continued to accelerate at the same rate of speed. I pressed the brake pedal and the vehicle slowed as expected but I heard a distinct "popping" noise, seemingly as if the gas pedal had popped back into place. Just a few miles later, while driving in the left lane, I accelerated a bit to keep up with traffic. The accelerator "stuck" a second time, and so I pressed the brake pedal again and the vehicle responded again by slowing but this time, when I went to accelerate again to keep pace with traffic, the gas pedal was completely non-responsive (I. E. , the pedal had seemed to fall to the floor and pressing it did not result in any further acceleration). I pulled onto the left shoulder of the highway and called roadside assistance to have it towed to the Jeep dealership. Dealership verbally told me computer fault code read as "accelerator pedal in correlation" and said the gas pedal module was reading incorrectly. Service advisor admitted to having seen this problem before. When picking up vehicle, service advisor told me that problem was due to excessive dirt on/behind the gas pedal. There is no way it was caused by this, as Jeep has not been taken off-road, no one drives it with muddy shoes, etc. Accelerator pedal assembly was replaced and pcm was updated to the most current software level. Previously on this vehicle, the sentry key was replaced as was the entire instrument cluster, as was the front stabilizer/sway bar. Not sure if the stuck accelerator is due to a computer/software glitch or a mechanical failure. A quick google search revealed that issues with "stuck" accelerators on this make/model/year vehicle are not uncommon. Invoice attached. Please investigate.

9 Accelerator Stuck problem of the 2005 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 11/01/2011

The accelerator (gas pedal) initially felt as though it were stuck, as if there was a block under it, when driving at approximately 20 mph. Then suddenly there was unintended acceleration with the accelerator stuck at full throttle. Only after the vehicle hit 2 parked cars did the vehicle come to a stop.

10 Accelerator Stuck problem of the 2011 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 10/24/2011

The contact owns a 2011 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving 65 mph, the accelerator pedal became stuck in a partially depressed position. The contact shifted the vehicle into neutral and was able to pull the pedal out of its depressed position with his feet. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to have the failure diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to a dealer. The failure and current mileages was 3,700. The VIN was unavailable.

11 Accelerator Stuck problem of the 2003 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 05/15/2010

I stopped at a red light behind a Ford expedition. When the light turned green, I lightly depressed the gas pedal and the car immediately accelerated out of control. This had never occurred before. I hit the car in front of me and was able to aggressively hit the brakes to slow down enough to slow the car and shift into neutral. The car was taken to a Jeep dealership and they kept the car for a number of days. They stated they could not find anything wrong and they blamed the incident on an after market floor mat. This would make sense to me if the accelerator was jus stuck at the current speed, but the engine kept speeding up and the tires were spinning when I was depressing the brakes. The car acted like I had the gas pedal fully depressed.
