The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the abs, brake, and traction control warning lights illuminated. Additionally, the cruise control function was inoperable. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the dealer, who determined that the abs module needed to be replaced; however, the part was on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. 2 Cruise Control problem of the 2012 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 03/03/2021

On my way to work on city street, slight curve in road, it was raining. Cruise control set at 50mph. I heard the chime and glanced at the dashboard. Cruise control light was out, abs light, anti-skid light and parking brake light were on. Touched the brake slightly and Jeep went into a skid. Luckily no one was next to me. Took it to my mechanic the next day and was told the abs module had failed and needed to be replaced. This vehicle has less than 38000 miles on it.

3 Cruise Control problem of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 03/28/2020

I was using the cruise control when traveling on the highway (3hr drive) was getting off the exit and when I went to cancel it would not do it nor turn off. I was very fortunate that was able to press the brake and was able to come to a complete stop. I called the dealer and the corporate office and it shows no recalls. They suggested to make a complaint through NHTSA. This vehicle should be included under the recall u62/NHTSA 18v-332. Any assistance will be appreciated.

5 Cruise Control problem of the 2015 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 12/27/2019

Immediately after completing work from the air bag recall my vehicle began to accelerate on its own. I would hold a steady throttle and it would all of a sudden speed up. It would last for a few to several seconds and slow down to a point less than the steady throttle. When I would use cruise control the vehicle would vary in speed by five to seven miles per hour. This was definitely a change from the way it operated prior to the recall. I used injector cleaner through several tanks, but the problem persisted. The condition was limited to depressing the accelerator, but has worsened to the point of revving the engine with the clutch depressed and no pressure on the accelerator. I had to cut the engine off due to this uncontrollable rev. I contacted the dealership to inquiry of any such issues following the air bag recall, but before I could complete my question, I was told, "no. " maybe, this issue is coincidence, but it is truly a safety concern. I have searched the net for similar incidents, and it does not appear to be very prevalent. The vehicle currently has just over 68k miles, and zero incidents/problems prior to the airbag recall. I believe the steering wheel is removed when the airbag issue is corrected, and for this reason I question if the issues are unintentionally related.

6 Cruise Control problem of the 2009 Jeep Wrangler

7 Cruise Control problem of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 05/25/2019

Just bought a 2018 Wrangler jl leftover/ brand new off the lot. I immediately noticed that the steering is very loose and difficult to control. This is especially true in wind or if driving 55 miles per hour or more. My husband refuses to drive the car because he feels unsafe doing so. I get very nervous as well. I'm constantly having to adjust the wheel to stay on the road. The second issue is that sometimes when I set the cruise control it will just keep going past my designated speed I chose unless I turn it off. Lastly my car seems to not shift gears down. It throttles and revs. When I took it to be looked at I was told it's no big deal. Well it is! even my local mechanic said he feels that it's not switching properly between gears. I've waited 22 years to buy my first Wrangler and I paid $42000 for it. It should not do any of this! it's brand new. It's also a safety hazard. I could get into a major accident! I need help with these things please. Stand behind your product. This is my first Wrangler but my 4th Jeep. I also talked my mom and brother into buying new Jeeps the same week I did last month! my contact is 315-723-6849. Lisa addison wilson. I'd like call back so someone can help me. Thank you.

8 Cruise Control problem of the 2017 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 02/20/2019

Whenever I hit a bump (ranging from small pot hole to larger pot hole) on the highway going 60+ mph, my cruise control will shut off by itself. Speed decelerates very quickly and I have to get it up to speed quickly to avoid getting rear ended. This has been happening for just over a year and it happens every time I hit any kind of small bump at an accelerated speed. Started happening around 5000 miles on Jeep and still does it at 17000 miles.

9 Cruise Control problem of the 2015 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 08/06/2018

While driving down freeway, the cruise control was set to 62. It suddenly accelerated on its own (as though I had slammed on the gas pedal) while being passed by a semi truck and trailer. When I tapped the break, it did not turn off. When I slammed the break down, it did not deactivate. I was forced to throw it in neutral, and veer into the shoulder. While in neutral, the engine was still revving as though the gas was pressed. Once stopped in neutral, I had to turn off the vehicle completely in order to put the vehicle into park. I let it sit for 5 minutes turned off then start the engine again. I nearly ran into the back of an RV, and nearly rear ended by a semi truck during this episode.

Failure Date: 05/13/2018

Driving down interstate, check engine soon light, and traction control light come on, vehicle loses power, decelerates on its own. Cruise control stops working. Have to almost floor gas pedal to keep power going to vehicle. Vehicle then randomly has small burst of acceleration on its own. Occured while driving down I-10. Occurs randomly while driving, without warning. Almost caused a major accident between myself and a semi, while my kids were in the vehicle.

12 Cruise Control problem of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 05/10/2018

Cruise control "on" at appx. 55 mph - had to brake due to traffic - but, cruise control remained "on" - only heavy braking eventually stopped vehicle - cruise control was "fighting" the brakes - brakes "won" that battle. Took it to dealer who could not find anything wrong.

14 Cruise Control problem of the 2013 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 05/16/2017

Airbag light is on, cruise control (as well as all other controls mounted on the steering wheel) are inoperable. This was gradual; I noticed cruise control didn't work first, then the rest of the controls including the airbag stopped shortly after. This was during highway driving (a coast-to-coast road trip).

15 Cruise Control problem of the 2017 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 05/14/2017

While driving under normal conditions, I'll hear a single audible 'ding' and then see the airbag and esp light illuminate on dash along with the speed odometer drop from the speed traveling to 0 before normal operation. This happens much more often when the cruise control in engaged. It happened 5/14/2017 while traveling interstate 65 to such an extent that not only did I have to cancel cruise control, I actually had to turn if off to stop the dinging and flashing of the airbag and esp light. I had to finish the last 2. 5 hours of interstate travel without cruise control.

16 Cruise Control problem of the 2014 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 04/01/2017

Randomly the instrument panel gauges would go crazy, the "idiot" lights would come on, and if the cruise control is on, that will disengage. I've had other incidents where the vehicle would not have any power when the key was engaged, until 4 different times of trying it. Also when starting the engine, the starter would continue to crank even with the key disengaged.

17 Cruise Control problem of the 2011 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 02/05/2017

I could not shut the power to the cruise control off until I shut the Jeep ignition off. . . . While driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle independently accelerated to 90 mph . . . Gas pedal was "floored" on its own, and the etc warning light was activated.

18 Cruise Control problem of the 2008 Jeep Wrangler

19 Cruise Control problem of the 2013 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 10/20/2015

A week ago I noticed when I started the Jeep in the morning the air bag and the traction control lights on the dash came on. The cruise control quit working along with the radio controls on the steering wheel. The Jeep is parked on the street. I disconnected the battery for about 30 min. I reconnected the battery and started it up. The air bags and traction control lights were still on in the dash. The steering controls do not work. The Jeep was parked in front of my house on the street.

20 Cruise Control problem of the 2013 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 09/22/2015

I was driving down the highway at 70mph. It felt like the cruise control kicked in and the Jeep began to accelerate. I tapped the break however the speed was increasing. I pressed down harder on the gas and the car slowed some but as soon as I let off the brake the car would speed up. I pressed down on the break and was able to get over to the side of the highway. A red warning light came on. I had to press the break to the floor and pull the parking break. The rear tires were still spinning so I shut the Jeep off and called a tow truck. The Jeep was towed to the nearest dealership. The Jeep is still at the dealership and they are unable to find anything wrong with it. I'm suppose to pick it up however I'm afraid to begin driving the Jeep again.

21 Cruise Control problem of the 1998 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 09/06/2015

While using cruise control speed increased and would not respond to shutting off speed control or by hitting the brakes car could not be stopped only pushing in clutch while the engine raced uncontrollably and pulling off the interstate onto side of road turning off key stopped this . When started back up engine still racing. Same thing happened about seven years ago never used speed control again until this.

22 Cruise Control problem of the 2015 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 07/01/2015

Driving on a four lane highway around 2pm. I had been driving for a solid hour on the same highway when my Jeep suddenly accelerated. The gas pedal proceeded to the floor even while I tapped and pressed pumping my brakes. I recall an initial odd feeling underfoot prior to the climbing acceleration. I felt the pedal pull away directly after I felt a vibration underfoot. I was not using cruise control nor was it engaged . The engine was cycling loudly and the rpm gauge was climbing in the red, I had no car mat in place because I spilled a protein shake a week earlier and it still smelled. I still checked visually to see if something somehow was obstructing the pedal. I had my hands on the top of the wheel per usual comfort spots. I was like, wait. . . What the hell is happening?? I had to press as hard as I could on the brakes while pulling the emergency brake up slowly to bring the open throttled car to a stop. I noticed just before turning off the car a red lightning bolt appeared on the dashboard. My new car was 4 weeks new to our family. I am an experienced driver who owned Jeeps before in 1989. The gas pedal was so tightly pressed into the floor I could not get the tip of my shoe under to pull it up. I was taken for a death ride for 10 minutes. The car smelled like burning motor! if there was traffic this day I cannot think of the repercussions .

24 Cruise Control problem of the 2009 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 02/03/2015

While operating my 2009 Jeep Wrangler first my cruise control failed and now will not function, then my air bag light came on. Now the air bag light keeps going on and off with a chime. Looked it up online only to find I'm not the only one with this issue, it seems very frequent and to have recalled several other keeps with the same problem, Chrysler needs to properly address the issue and recall all the keeps with this problem.

25 Cruise Control problem of the 2012 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 10/16/2014

I was driving on i70 from wheeling, wv to saint clairsville, OH during rush hour. I came out of construction and set the cruise control for 65 mph. I was coming to the merge of i70 and 470 and there was a lot of traffic. My Jeep, without touching the brake or control, kicked out of cruise. I was on an incline and went from 65 mph to 55 mph before I could get my foot on the gas pedal. The car behind me swerved into the outside lane to avoid hitting me. This is not the first time this has happened. It has been to the garage for this and I was told it was fixed. Someone is going to get hurt if other Jeeps are doing this. I was lucky!.

26 Cruise Control problem of the 2009 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 06/01/2014

My airbag light came on and my cruise control stopped working. I took the vehicle to the dealership and they stated it would be $500 to fix because it is not a recalled item. I have been waiting patiently for the recall because many other Jeep Wrangler owners are having the same issues. My vehicle was stationary. One day I simply went to start the Jeep and the light came on. I was headed to work and always use my cruise control when I am on the highway, but it would not work.

33 Cruise Control problem of the 2009 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 03/17/2010

As with hundreds of other left hand steer Jeep owners, our airbag light is on, horn does not work, and cruise control is inoperative. Nhtsa and Jeep have deemed it okay to repair these problems on the right hand steer which is a very small percent of all Jeeps. Get on it, start the recall, it is unsafe, and why should we have to pay the price when Jeep/Dodge/Chrysler know this is an issue. I have been trying to get this fixed and talking to other 2009 owners since March of 2010. Let's go.

34 Cruise Control problem of the 2007 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 05/15/2009

My Jeep Wrangler has had the death wobble, issues with the safety belts not retracting properly [broke my hand] had stalling and suspension problems, I currently have a chip on the bottom underside of the winshield. , when I had the death wobble the dealer told me I had to much weight on the front end from my bumper and winch,[I replaced the stabilizer wobble seems to have went away] they couldn't find a problem with the wobble or seat belts. It was my imagination, what I also had and is documented in the dealer files my accelerator stuck , I was fortunate some one else was driving so I could see his feet and the floor mats nothing was stuck when he stomped on the gas pedal it was just like the cruise control disengaged , my Jeep doesn't have cruise control. The brakes scare me at times, feel like their not there from time to time, I tell who ever drives it not to trust the brakes, this is my last new Chrysler, my hand still hurts. Maybe our goverment should force a recall like they did to Toyota to date my Jeep has only 22. 000 miles on the odometer . Good luck all.

35 Cruise Control problem of the 2007 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 06/29/2007

I have a 2007 Jeep sahara jk four door. Traveling westbound on the 10 freeway in pamona, CA in the car pool lane with cruise control on going about 70mph. I had been traveling this way for about 20 minutes going straight ahead. The engine appeared to stall. The speedometer went to zero even though I wascoasting. The rpm read about 800. I keep pumping the gas pedal, every once in a while I would get a spurt of speed but had an overall reduction of speed. I had to navigate over double yellow lines, between semi's to get to the shoulder. After stopping I turned the key off then on again. It started right up and I continued the rest of the 150 miles. The dash displayed two icons. One was the esp symbol and the other was a red lighting bolt in between two vertical red lines. I called the dealer, shaver Jeep, in san bernardino. The service guy said this wasn't uncommon. He hypothesize the esp system sensed a need to turn on causing the computer to take control. I assured him I was going straight and had not made any turns or hit any bumps. It happened out of the blue. If this was the reason, the computer made a false interpretation and it should have turned control back to the driver after the correction was made instead of losing speed on a busy freeway.
