2 Brake Disc problem of the 1999 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 10/10/2000

Warped rotors caused braking and steering difficulties. One rotor needs replacement and the other one needs to be turned. This problem is listed on the technical service bulletin as disc brake rotor pulsation. The steering wheel would shake so badly during braking it was difficult to steer. Dealer states rotors wore out due to wear and tear, but the brakes pads have very little wear on them and do not require replacement. Warrenty on brakes was only good to 12k.

3 Brake Disc problem of the 1997 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/05/1998

While driving at various speeds and road conditions the front brakes locked. When the brakes lock the wheels skidded either to the right or left, but more often to the right. Had been to the dealer numerous times. No repairs were done because dealer determined nothing was wrong. Called Chrysler, and tried to speak to an engineer and they did not wish to talk to consumer. Vehicle was involved in several crashes.

4 Brake Disc problem of the 1998 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/02/1998

The rear brakes provide no stopping assistance. When you back up on any surface and apply the brakes the front brakes [disc] lock up and the back wheels just keep rolling. They provide no stopping assistance at all.

5 Brake Disc problem of the 1997 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 09/05/1997

Rear brake system cracked/unit failed.

6 Brake Disc problem of the 1997 Jeep Wrangler

Front brakes only stop the vehicle, back brakes do not engage. On ice, the vehicle does not stop because the auto trans keeps the rear wheels turning whle the front slides. I have attempted to have this problem corrected several times.

7 Brake Disc problem of the 1998 Jeep Wrangler

When brakes are applied, the front brakes lock up, but the rear wheels continue to turn, which is extremely hazardous during slippery conditions. Dealer has tried to correct problem by replacing drums and valve, but that did not cure the problem. They have now ordered a new master cylinder. We are hoping that the master cylinder cures the problem, but are concerned that other people may not realize that there rear brakes are not functioning properly.
