36 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 1999 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 09/10/2009

The brakes totally failed in my 1999 Jeep Wrangler. The steel brake lines had rusted and the brake petal went to the floor. The vehicle is used in a suburban home environment and I feel that brake lines should not totally fail. We feel we were very lucky this happened in a parking lot not driving on the highway.

37 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2007 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 05/21/2008

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Wrangler. The contact drove into a mud puddle and then across a grass field. Three days later, he took the vehicle to the car wash and the check engine light illuminated. He took the vehicle to the dealer and they found a failure at the brake purge tank, which ripped and caused the brake line to pull down. The dealer informed the manufacturer that the cause of the failure was due to reckless driving. Therefore, the manufacturer stated that the warranty does not cover aggressive driving, only defected parts. The contact feels that his vehicle was designed to be driven on rough terrain; therefore, the brake purge tank is defective. The current and failure mileages were 10,000.

Dealer changed everything in the brake system, except the master cylinder. Inspector from Jeep came ,. And worked on it. Then, they said the nature of the beast was not to have any rear brakes. Parts that were changed included three sets of brake shoes/two rear brake drums/two sets of rear wheel cylinders, proportional valve/abs computer for brake system, and two brake lines.
