1 Brake Popping Noise problem of the 2014 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 07/21/2014

Purchased a new 2014 Jeep Wrangler with manual transmission in September 2013. On July 21,2014 I was parking the vehicle and pulled on the parking brake and heard a popping noise. The parking brake failed and will now not hold the vehicle in place. I took the vehicle into a Jeep dealership to have the part fixed on July 23, 2014 and was notified that the "parking lever" was broken and needed to be replaced. The replacement part is on "backorder" and the dealer could not give me any timeline on when the part would be replaced. Considering this is a manual vehicle, the parking brake is needed to safely operate the vehicle. I have contacted Jeep corporate regarding my issue and have received no response. Upon doing further research, it appears this issue is common with Jeep Wranglers and many people have had incidents where their Jeep has rolled away. This is a safety issue and could eventually result in an injury or fatality. I do not feel safe operating my Jeep Wrangler until Jeep takes action to fix the problem.
