1 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2017 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 09/26/2020

A few months ago, I got in my car and turned the key and the car would not start. All lights came on, but no power. Let it sit about 5 min, tried again and it magically started. It did this 3 or 4 times in a few days time over the summer (2020) and then stopped. On 9/26/20, it started doing this again. It left me and my mother stranded for 20 min at a time doing the exact thing, before finally starting. I looked up recalls and on my make and model, there is a recall about a chip in the key fob not connecting with a module in the Jeep computer correctly. Called the dealership, they said since my specific VIN was not mentioned in the recall, it would be $75 for them to look at it and it would be 4 days before they would get me in. I am 6 months pregnant and high risk with gestational diabetes after losing 2 babies. I am livid that I can't get any help on a leased vehicle since the mileage is outside of my warranty. I have cried all morning terrified that me, my daughter and unborn baby will be stuck somewhere at a doctor appt in a bad area with no transportation.

3 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2020 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 06/27/2020

Vehicle intermittently does not turn back on after engine shuts off during normal electronic start system operation. Engine shuts off when nearly and at a stop. When releasing the brake pedal, the engine does not turn back on. There have been three occurrences as follows: occurrence 1 6/27/2020: exiting the thruway and nearly at a complete stop at a light at exit when the engine shut off due to ess system. Upon releasing the brake to begin driving, the engine failed to turn on. Operator was pushing gas pedal to go, the engine remained off. Remedy was to tap the brake again in which the engine turned on and was able to move. Occurrence 2 7/13/2020: came to a stop in traffic on a street. Engine shut off due to ess system as designed. Upon releasing the brake, the engine did not restart. Operator pushing gas pedal multiple times and engine still did not turn back on, sitting dead in the middle of traffic. Attempting to push the push start button did not turn vehicle back on. Remedy again was to push brake pedal again and engine turned on. Occurrence 3 August 2,2020: operator in traffic, came to a complete stop. Released brake pedal to begin moving. Engine did not turn back on, and shifter d symbol began flashing. Tapping brake pedal would not restart vehicle. Dashboard stated shift to p to park, to place vehicle in park position. Placed vehicle into park, had to restart engine by pushing start button. Engine turned on and was able to move. I have a video showing the third occurrence, however this submission only allows picture format so took snapshots of code. Sent video to fca, have multiple recorded visits to dealer to find issue, no root cause determined at this point. Requested refund/replacement.

12 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2007 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 05/10/2016

Two weeks ago I when to the dealer to detail clean my Jeep, I park at the entrance of the shop, when they where going to take my Jeep in for cleaning, it will not start, they had to push the Jeep into the shop, after checking it for a wild, they told me that it burn a fuse, they replace it and everything was find. Last week when I came out of my job, the Jeep will not start again, I just replace the fuse and it was all fine. This morning am at wawa getting coffee and when I came out , the Jeep will not start, had to get a toll truck to take it to my mechanic. He check it and told me there something cutting off the power and blowing the fuse every time he try to start it. He told to check with the dealer to see if there was a recall or problem with this, I call and by my VIN number they said there was no recall, a recall on the switch and for cutting off the power was issued for newer models but not for 2007. I will like to know if there been other similar complain about this, now I remember that sometimes my Jeep will be loosing like power or stalling when I was driving, I keep my Jeep clean and in very good conditions , up to date in maintenance, but this worrying me. I have a friend with a 2008 Jeep, and he told me he had the same problem with his.

13 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2012 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/29/2016

12 jkru 52,000 miles. It first happened at night while wife was driving on interstate Jeep went crazy mode all lights in cluster illuminated warning lights flashing and with hot oil msg, warning dings going off, heard electric fan running . It seemed that nothing was controllable, auto trans went into and would not shift out of first gear. Scared the hell out of my wife. Got home after shut off I tried to restart but nothing happened. I disconnected battery to reset cpu that did not work. I stopped by auto zone to get codes scanned . They told me every system was reporting failure and needs to go to dealer. After restart every thing was normal. After 100 yards down the street it all happened again. Pulled into store parking lot, turned Jeep off and would not restart till 4th try. Drove it strait to dealer in first gear with all. They said that it was tipm and not under warranty, gave MA a rental car for 10 days because part is on back order. After 10 days Chrysler quit paying for rental car and still have no part to fix Jeep it has been 16 days. I guess there are alot of failures for the tipm causing back order and do not know when they will get one.

16 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2010 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 10/20/2015

My headlights and marker lights would not shut off unless I disconnected the battery. Windshield wipers would randomly come on and not shut off. Changed out the accessory switch and that didn't fix anything. Changed some fuses and the problem seemed to be resolved. The next day my Jeep wouldn't start. Jumped it without a problem and about a half a mile down the road while driving all of the dash lights started flashing. My Jeep engines motor stalled while in motion on a busy city street with a speed limit of 40 mph, fortunately I had just started slowing down for the red light so an accident did not occur. I sat in the middle of the busy road for ten minutes waiting for the police to push me to an empty parking lot. Due to these symptoms and the previous investigation (NHTSA defect investigation #dp14004), I believe I have a faulty tipm. The local repair shop in hubbard, ohio looked over the Jeep for bad grounds and wires and nothing was found. On March 6, 2016, the Jeep's headlights would not shut off unless the vehicle was shut off, the fog lights light on the dash flashed and the windshield wipers would come on with the fog light switch. The headlights would shut off when I shut the Jeep off and removed the key, so I dealt with the problem for a few days until it went away on its own. I'm hoping this is the last of my tipm issues.

17 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2013 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 08/01/2015

Jeep has been stalling for 7 months. Been in shop 9 times. Jeep stalls going at different spends, while stopped, moving at idle in forward or reverse. Jeep will not start unless terminal on battery removed or sits for awhile. Transmission fails to engage occasionally in reverse or drive after stalling. Last program download appears to be a fault with the tipm (totally intergrated power module). Ptm and tpm changed out due to different readings in downloads. Mechanic believes now, that the tipm is faulty. Jeep has stalled up to 5 & 6 times on some days.

20 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2008 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 03/19/2015

This Jeep has been nothing but a issue. Have been to shops for a year. Check engine light wont stay off, wheels shake at certain speeds, over heats, radiator issues, you name it. The dealer would not cover anything and went out of business shortly after. This Jeep is a lemon. There has to be recalls on this. Jeep is currently at garage again and they are saying possible computer issues again maybe 02 yada. Came out of grocery store the other night and the Jeep would not start. Not the battery. Again the garage called and said it may be a electrical issue with the security of the vehicle. Just had new plugs and wires installed. This is absurd and there should be recalls on these Jeeps. There is definitely safety concerns!!!!!!!! haven't been able to get the engine light off as previously stated and thus still cant get a inspection going on a year! someone please help!!!.

21 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2008 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 09/15/2014

Vehicle will not start. Turning the key in the ignition causes a click. Electrical is working, as all dashboard lights are on and bright. By pushing on the transmission lever or moving it into neutral and back the vehicle will then start. There does not seem to be a specific condition (hot or cold) that makes this better or worse.

22 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2008 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 08/11/2014

The first problems to start were the headlights going off and on when the car was off. The inside dome lights also go on and off when the car is not running. 2nd came the battery. It would act like it was dead and the car would not start. This is happening a lot now. If you wait a bit or jump it, it starts right up. Also when in this state all of the other battery operated components work fine, like lights radio, etc. Then came the air bag light and alarm. This will come on for about a minute than go off for a few seconds and then back on. Very annoying. From what I have researched this is the clock spring module or the tipm. I have an appointment wit the dealer this weekend. 11/8/2014.

23 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2010 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 08/06/2014

After backing out of parking space, stopping and placing Jeep in drive, vehicle continued to move in reverse. Dash display continued to indicate car was in reverse. Vehicle was placed in park and the ignition turned off. Vehicle would not restart. Tried disconnecting battery but did not reset. Also tried the manual override, which did allow shifting to neutral, however vehicle would still not start. Display continued to show vehicle in reverse regardless of shifting to different gears. This could have been a dangerous situation, with potential for injuries to those in the parking lot. Also, could have resulted in an accident had it occurred at an intersection or other location. Why is this not a recall? this seems to be occurring in many Jeep/Chrysler products based on vehicle forums.

24 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2014 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 07/10/2014

3rd time at this point. While driving the vehicle suddenly the wipers turn on and dashboard lights begin to flash followed by vehicle shutting off by itself. Once the vehicle dies it will not restart. 1st trip to dealer could not replicate. 5 hours later vehicle died while driving and was towed back to dealer-dealer able to replicate and replaced tipm (totally integrated power module). 3 days later problem returned with vehicle failing to start while parked in driveway. Going back to dealer this morning. This is an incredibly dangerous situation if vehicle unexpectedly and randomly dies while in motion and in traffic.

25 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2008 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 06/26/2014

I bought the 2008 Jeep Wrangler in September 2007. I follow the service manual and take my Jeep for every scheduled service at the Jeep dealership. My Jeep started failing to start in 2010. I reported the issue at my 36,000 mile service on 23 November 2010 and was told that the service department could not isolate the problem. I have reported this issue on several services but was always told that the service department could not isolate the issue. Finally when I take the Jeep in for the 72,000 mile service the fault was identified and is currently under repair. If this has been a known issue why was I not notified of the problem by Jeep. I have been stranded on more that one occasion because the vehicle failed to start and I have been driving around for four years with a tipm that could have failed causing injury to me or my family. I am very upset that Jeep has known about these issues and I was not informed that there was an issue with this tipm when I reported the Jeep was having electrical problems. I had to stumble across a web site reporting this issue with the tipm, this is how I found out that this is a known issue that Jeep has failed to acknowledge.
