7 Instrument Panel problem of the 2006 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 07/30/2008

¿06 Jeep Wrangler looses power, bucks, shakes as of 20,000mi. Gas gage sometimes does not read correctly, ac goes warm at neutral, smelled burning, could not shift past 1st . Has had to be towed to dealer. Stalls and shakes intermittingly during moving and stopped positions. Has a rough idle, which at times is more severe than others, but has never died - just shook severely a few times. It intermittingly acts as if it is going to loose all power. This can occur several times in one day, 1 time during the day or not at all for 1 or several days in a row. There is no set pattern. It occurs during cold and hot weather, with electrical devices on or off, in neutral or drive, if the engine has warmed up or is still cold. Have taken it to dealer several times. Dealer tells me something is wrong but they are unsure of what. They have tried several times to replace or fix parts with no success. Chryslers star mechanics are now working on it. This vehicle is not safe. Dies at all speeds, times and road conditions.

8 Instrument Panel problem of the 2007 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 03/23/2008

I have a 2007 Jeep Wrangler unlimited x, automatic with 10,500 miles. I was traveling down an on ramp going about 40mph, light on the throttle and the Jeep hesitated, all of the gauges (speedometer, etc) shut off (showed 0), then all of the dash lights came on. During that 2 second period, I had no power steering, brakes or control over the throttle of the Jeep. This could have been much worse. I know there is a recall that covers this, but my Jeep falls out of the production date to get it taken care of. The "build" date is Feb. Of 2007. I am not the only one with the problem and the current recall is not taking care of this issue. This needs to be address before someone (like my family) gets seriously hurt. . Read more...

27 Instrument Panel problem of the 2004 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 02/22/2005

Purchased a used 2004 Jeep Wrangler rubicon with 11000 miles on the odometer, after driving the vehicle for several months I noticed that the odometer seamed to be reading slow, so I had the odometer checked by a state trooper and found out that at 45 mph I was only moving at 40 mph. With further investigation I found that the tires and rims are not the right size for the vehicle. The tires that where on the Jeep when I purchased it are p225/75r15, the manufacturer recommends lt245/75r16, is this vehicle safe to drive? the dealership where I purchased the Jeep from refuses to make it right. Would the 11000 miles on the odometer be right or could it be more?.

28 Instrument Panel problem of the 2000 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 05/11/2004

Instrument cluster will intermittently go out, leaving no speedometer, odometer, or rpm gage. This can go out for several miles, or just blink on and off. It has been doing this for a couple of years, and have already attempted to have it fixed once by a dealership and several times with my son working on it. So far nothing has corrected the problem. Dealership knew what the problem was when first brought to them about 2 1/2 years ago but could not fix the problem. Being on the community emergency response teams, I need a reliable vehicle.

29 Instrument Panel problem of the 1999 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/01/2004

Car has 30,000 miles, has not been "off road" or misused. Problem(s) started at about 27,000. . Intermittently while driving, instrument panel and radio lose power. If motor is stopped and restarted, power comes on again. 2. Intermittently, headlights go out when signaling for a right or left turn, then turn on again when turn signal is off. 3. Air conditioner intermittently failed to cool associated with an electrical smell before finally failing to cool altogether. 4. Check engine light and airbag light intermittently go on and off. No consequences to date other than the stress of having an undependable and hot vehicle in miami. Mechanics unable to find the problem with the instrument panel. I am told that I need a new air conditioner but cannot afford to replace it at this time.

31 Instrument Panel problem of the 1998 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/04/2000

Started vehicle after it had sat for 13 hours. Vehicle started without a problem, but a pop/crackling sound was heard at start-up. The radio was turned on and it immediatley powered down and clock went blank. All the gauges on the instrument panel read "0". The headlights, foglights, instrument panel lights work. The interior light does not work. All fuses for radio, instrument panel and interior light are not blown. This is the first incident of any problems with the vehicle.

32 Instrument Panel problem of the 1998 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 05/01/1999

Since 1999 gauges dropped off intermittently , sometimes when hitting a bump, other times on its own. Tachometer and speedometer dropped to zero, airbag light came on. Sometimes stopping and restarting engine corrected the problem. Very sporadic when it happened. Also, lose mileage indicator. Seen so many complaints now from consumers, not to mention air bag non-deployment complaints. Multiple Chrysler dealerships knew this was a common problem, but didn't seem to care. Why is this not a recall issue?? will my airbag work? I didn't want to die to find out!!.
