Following a manufacturer over-the-air (ota) software update released in fall 2025 and subsequent completion of safety recall 68c, my vehicle exhibits new and dangerous driving behavior that did not exist prior to these updates. While operating in electric mode, the vehicle can unexpectedly lose power during acceleration, including at roadway speeds and while climbing hills, creating a risk of sudden deceleration in traffic. Under electric operation, the vehicle accelerates normally up to approximately 45 mph. Beyond that point, electric power output progressively decreases even as accelerator input is maintained or increased. Vehicle speed can decline while the accelerator is further depressed, and the electric power indicator visibly drops. This often results in abrupt internal combustion engine (ice) engagement, aggressive downshifting, and sudden acceleration. This loss-and-surge behavior is unpredictable and hazardous, particularly in traffic or on inclines. Prior to the ota update and recall action, the vehicle provided consistent electric power well beyond 45 mph, and ice engagement was smooth and nearly imperceptible. I consistently achieved approximately 22–23 miles of electric range on the same daily route. Post-update and post-recall, usable electric range has been reduced to approximately 14–15 miles under similar conditions, regardless of weather. The issue also occurs at low speeds, including complete loss of electric momentum while climbing hills, followed by harsh ice engagement that can cause wheel spin. This behavior raises safety concerns related to power loss and unexpected acceleration. Based on the timing and nature of these changes, I am concerned that software updates may be intentionally limiting battery power output and usable capacity to reduce stress on potentially defective high-voltage batteries rather than correcting the underlying hardware defect. This materially alters vehicle performance and safety and requires investigation.
The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Wrangler. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 25v741000 (electrical system). The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the repair could not be performed because there were no loaner vehicles available, if the repair failed. The appointment was rescheduled for two weeks later. The dealer was contacted prior to the scheduled appointment date and the contact was informed again that no loaner vehicles were available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue but provided no assistance. The contact was informed that the manufacturer could check with other dealers and about the availability of a loaner vehicle. The contact had not experienced a failure.

Official report: unjustified denial of safety remedy & data inconsistency - VIN: 1c4jjxn6xpw623043 I am filing this official complaint regarding a significant barrier to resolving safety recall 68c (battery fire risk) and recall 78c on my 2023 Jeep Wrangler 4xe. 1. Debunking manufacturer claims: stellantis middle east (ref: fa-25274) has declined to perform the remedy, claiming authorized dealers in my region lack the necessary equipment. This is factually incorrect. The manufacturer's own portal (Jeep. Com) confirms that recall 04b (hcp software update) was successfully repaired on this VIN by the local authorized dealer (harlem cars). 2. Disappearing safety records: I possess a prior screenshot from the official portal confirming that recall 95b (high voltage battery) was also successfully repaired by the same dealer. However, this record has recently disappeared from the active recall list on the manufacturer's website. This removal of a safety record, combined with the current denial of service, raises serious concerns about data integrity and safety compliance. 3. Proven technical capability: the successful completion of recall 95b and 04b-both involving high-voltage systems and software-proves the dealer is fully equipped. Furthermore, mopar session b27c4acf-bcff-4dbc-99ac-aba6477d31b1 confirms active, real-time communication between the dealer's witech 2. 0 tools and u. S. Servers. 4. Request: I request NHTSA to intervene and compel stellantis to provide the necessary software permissions to the local dealer to resolve the 68c fire hazard and the idcm replacement immediately.

The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the instrument cluster displayed a black screen. The vehicle was taken to the independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with instrument cluster failure. The contact was informed that the instrument cluster needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was advised to contact the dealer for assistance. The dealer was made aware of the failure; however, the contact was informed that the repair was not covered under a recall. The contact referenced an unknown recall howeve,r the VIN was not under recall. In addition, the contact was informed that most likely the failure was the result of rodents chewing on the wires, and that the repair was not covered under the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was informed that the repair was not covered under a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 49,272.
I have two open serious recalls on my Jeep Wrangler 4xe. There is a recall for the batter/charging system so I cannot plug it in to the charger I purchased for my home. I also have a continuing issue with my gas tank - it will not fill and the nozzel clicks off even though I have next to no gas in the tank. I can't charge the car, yet can't fill it with gas. I have brought it back to the dealership 3 or 4 times in the less than two years of owning the car. There is also a recall that effects the engine so I am scared to drive it on the highway. Basically I was tricked into leasing a $60,000 piece of absolute garbage. I can't get out of the lease early without having to -pay some type of penalty or losing money, which is really unfair. The company knows about these issues and took advantage of customers.
After having the 68c recall software update completed on my Jeep at an authorized dealership, I now experience sluggish and decreased acceleration (even deceleration) upon pressing the accelerator more than half way (approximately). This happened twice on hills in which I needed to increase power while in electric mode. What happened was the Jeep seemed to lose power and decrease in speed while trying to go up the hill. I continued pressing the accelerator farther down and the Jeep seemed to be even more sluggish until all of a sudden the combustion engine kicked in at a very intense level and high rpm, lurching be forward, almost into the back of another vehicle. The sudden decrease in power to an even more sudden and drastic (sharp) increase felt dangerous.
After the 68c / NHTSA 25v-741 recall was completed, the Jeep can be difficult to drive and will dangerously lose power or accelerate unexpectedly. When driving in electric mode it will suddenly lose power and often start the engine abruptly. I've nearly been rear ended when it lost power, but also almost crashed into the car in front of me when the engine started abruptly and gave full power unexpectedly. This is a new characteristic since the recall was completed. I spoke with the dealer assistant service manager, and he said that unless the vehicle is displaying an error or warning, that it is operating as stellantis has written the software for the recall. I spoke with stellantis and told them of the severe safety issue, and that I feel unsafe driving it. Since I've been told this defect is normal, I asked for a refund/return. They said "sorry" and can't help me and referred me to arbitration. This is a defective vehicle that has been rendered even further defective. Stellantis refuses to take any responsibility.
Instrument cluster/panel went blank; unable to tell speed, temperature control, fuel, tire pressure, blinkers, lights. Unable to see controls or displays. Unable to see warning lights.
The vehicle has experienced repeated unexpected stalling during normal operation. After a dealership visit and representation that recall-related work was complete, the vehicle stalled again within hours. There is an active recall related to this issue with no available remedy. Due to safety concerns, the vehicle is not being driven. The manufacturer has not provided clear guidance regarding repair or safe operation, and the vehicle has been effectively unusable for an extended period of over 60 days.

Driving around town and the car just dies on me. I had my kids with me in the car this time when it happened. This is now getting scary when my car is my daily driver and I should not have to worry if I have my kids in the car when I drive it and it just dies. If my kids get hurt due to an accident from this dang recall that is taking months to get any remedy I should be able to get out of my lease with my Jeep. If my kids get hurt in any way with this damn recall it my car catches fire with my kids in the back seat. I am coming full force with lawyers. . Something needs to happen soon before my kids get hurt because Jeep does not care about the safety of their customers. Their apology is a $100 gift card. . They need to just take them off the market and get anyone one out of their leases without any penalties. . If they do not make it right they will loose a long time customer. .
My engine light came on shortly after my first warranty oil change August 23,2025 at the tonkin hillsboro dealership. During my 2nd warranty oil change January 9,2026 at tonkin hillsboro dealership I let them know my engine light came on after their last service and they wanted to charge me the diagnosis fee. After continued discussion learned they already checked the code indicator and mentioned possible gas cap seal and it was not fixed. Today I received an updated carfax of my recent service and saw a recall for my vehicle dated on October 30, 2025 urgent fire risk when parked. Nhtsa recall number 25v741000 manufacturer recall number68c NHTSA recall number25v-741 recall statusrecall incomplete this safety was not checked, fixed or completed within the consumer regulatory requirement of recalls while my vehicle was in service and in their observation. If the recall notice is dated October 30, 2025, there should be no reason for an oversight in providing clear communication and corrective action immediately while the vehicle was in service on January 9,2025 and communication/information before I picked up the vehicle and drove it off the lot. This is a certified vehicle that so far has not given me any confidence of proper dealership quality and car for vehicle safety and consumer CO concern.

The vehicle poses a fire risk not allowing the vehicle to be parked under structures and the vehicle cannot be charged even though it is a plug-in hybrid vehicle. There is an active recall and this is not the first one. The fix for the recall is a software update that can shut off the high voltage battery if an issue is encountered which leaves the vehicle in limp mode, which is dangerous when traveling on the highway. If a new battery is required, the same faulty style batteries are exchanged. Stellantis is not addressing the car issues appropriately.
I own a 2024 Jeep 4xe in alabama with approximately 9,000 miles. The vehicle was towed to a dealership due to safety concerns related to active recalls, including recall 68c involving the high-voltage battery, as well as a second engine-related recall for which no remedy has been issued. The vehicle was checked in and a repair order was opened. Dealer diagnostic notes indicate trouble codes related to the high-voltage system, coolant heater, and evap system, and state that certain components “need to be replaced. ” despite this, I later received a text message stating the vehicle was “ready for pickup,” even though active safety recalls remain and it was not clearly communicated that the listed components were replaced. Because these recalls involve potential fire risk and high-voltage system faults, I do not feel the vehicle is safe to operate, especially with children riding in it. The vehicle has remained at the dealership for almost 2 weeks with limited communication. I am currently paying for a rental vehicle out of pocket while awaiting reimbursement from stellantis, with no clear timeline for repayment or confirmation of continued coverage. Attempts to obtain updates from both the dealership and stellantis case management have often gone unanswered. I am submitting this complaint due to unresolved safety concerns, extended vehicle downtime, unclear repair status, and financial impact related to rental transportation.
I took my Jeep to the dealership to have the 68c recall fix done. Upon “passing” I was told I could continue charging as normal. I began charging as I did prior to the recall and recall fix and it fried my gfci outlet and thankfully so or it my house would have caught fire. The only thing on that circuit is the Jeep charger and garage door opener, same as before the recall and recall fix. I’ve had an electrician out to confirm it wasn’t an electrical issue.
On Tuesday January 6 2026, I was driving my 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe. I noticed smoke coming out the engine. I pulled over to the side of the road to determine the problem. Upon exiting the vehicle, I saw flames coming from the undercarriage of the engine. The fire soon engulfed the vehicle. 911 was called. Police and fire responded. The vehicle was destroyed in the fire. I have photos and videos of the fire and aftermath, taken once I exited the vehicle. I assume the fire is the result of the recent recall on the battery components of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe. The vehicle is currently in an impound lot and would be available for inspection upon request. I have notified Jeep and my insurance of the incident, but the Jeep has not as of yet, been inspected by either entity. The fire was of great risk to myself. If I hadn't pulled over when I did who knows what might have occurred. In addition I had a full tank of gas so the vehicle could have exploded endangering other people, vehicles, and property. No warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem appeared prior to the failure. The vehicle had been operating as intended prior to smoke/fire. I have documentation of a service of the vehicle on Wednesday Dec 3, 2025 with raidon's of kirkland in which the performed recall services.
The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that upon pressing the push to start button to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where the battery was replaced; however, the failure recurred approximately 3 months later. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start; however, the interior lights, the exterior lights, the windshield wipers, and other electrical functions were engaged unintendedly. The gear shifter was locked in park(p). The contact was unable to turn off the vehicle or to lock the vehicle manually or with the key fob. The contact noticed an abnormal relay sound coming from underneath the hood. The contact stated that the failure persisted for 13 hours, from morning to evening, until both batteries were completely drained. The vehicle was towed to peach Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram (528 south blvd, brewton, al 36426) to be diagnosed and repaired, but the diagnostic information was unavailable. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but declined to cover the cost of the repair under the warranty. A case was filed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 25,000.
Vehicle information: make: Jeep model: Wrangler model year: 2007 VIN: [xxx] safety recall information: NHTSA campaign 16v-290 manufacturer recall number: s33 component: airbag / clock spring this recall was previously performed by a dealership in February 2021; however, the vehicle is now experiencing the same symptoms the recall was intended to address, indicating the safety defect has reoccurred or was not permanently remedied. The vehicle is currently experiencing: illuminated airbag (srs) warning light horn failure traction control / electronic stability program warning light erratic or abnormal a/c behavior that coincides with the srs/steering wheel electrical faults these failures are consistent with a defective clock spring and directly impact the supplemental restraint system and other active safety systems. I contacted an authorized Jeep dealership to request inspection and repair of this recurring safety defect. The dealership confirmed the recall had been previously completed but refused to diagnose or repair the vehicle, stating in writing: “due to company policy, we are unable to perform diagnostic or repair services on vehicles that are more than 10 years old. ” they further stated that because the recall was marked as completed in 2021, they would not assist further and recommended I seek an independent repair facility. I believe this refusal violates the intent and requirements of the national traffic and motor vehicle safety act (49 u. S. C. §§ 30118–30120), which requires manufacturers to remedy safety defects and does not allow age-based or policy-based refusal when a safety defect exists or reoccurs. This defect involves the airbag system and active safety features and presents an ongoing risk to vehicle occupants. I am requesting NHTSA’s assistance in reviewing this matter and ensuring that the manufacturer and/or authorized dealer fulfills their obligation to properly remedy this safety defect. Our 2015 Jeep Wrangler jk unlimited just caught on fire. I happened to be in my daughter’s bedroom, 20 feet away from where the Jeep was parked. I thought I was seeing flames reflecting from the tv, but I realized that they were real. My next thought was that my husband was building a firepit fire. I thought that was weird because he was doing it in the front yard, but I didn’t think any more about it because I was so focused on my work. I went back to work for a second, but something told me to look again. I did, and then realized that it was the Jeep that was on fire. I screamed for my husband, but couldn’t find him; I was scared that he was in the Jeep. Actually, he had been in the back yard and heard me screaming, so he ran up front to see what was happening. I called 911 while my husband tried to put the fire out with the water hose, which didn’t help- the flames kept getting higher. It took firefighters a while to extinguish the flames and to get it cooled off. The engine appears to be melted. It is in our yard and available for inspection. The fire fighters made a report that my husband has requested. We’re waiting on the insurance company to contact us. The fire smelled electrical. We smelled no gasoline. I was absolutely horrified thinking about what might have happened if it had ignited at night when no one was looking. My daughter, my pets, my husband, and I could have all been casualties of this spontaneous fire. The fact that it was day time, the unusual coincidence that I was where I was so that I saw the fire, and the fact that my husband parked on a different side of the yard than usual, all probably are the reasons we are alive today. Had any one of those events not been in play, it could have been a very different outcome. My husband had no indication that there was a problem with the Jeep. He’d just driven it. He reported no odors and no problems at all. He takes excellent care of it, so it was in great condition.

While attempting to fix the failure, an image of the type of vehicle was displayed, and the instrument panel illuminated intermittently. Over time, the instrument panel only illuminated with a blue light but failed to display the temperature, mileage, and other necessary safety information. The contact became aware of NHTSA campaign number: 24v652000 (electrical system); however, the VIN was not included. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The manufacturer refuses to process the 68c recall. The car was purchased from a dealer in canada in 2021. I purchased it in 2025 and imported it to poland. Currently, the car is registered and used in poland. The dealership refused to process it. He suggested I take the car to north America and have the recall performed there. It's possible to have the software related to the 68c recall installed at an independent repair shop in poland, but if the battery needs to be replaced, Jeep won't do it. I tried contacting Jeep in the us to ask how to resolve this, but there's no email address or online form available. Given zip code is incorrect since this form do not allow to use forein zipcode. Please contact me via email address. Regards [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The high-voltage battery system on my Jeep Wrangler 4xe malfunctioned and is subject to recall 25v-741 (68c). The vehicle has been under safety recall for battery fire risk for months, with instructions to park outside and avoid charging due to fire hazard. On December 29, the recall remedy failed and the vehicle was rendered completely undrivable (“bricked”) at the dealership. I was informed that hybrid battery components/repair parts are not available and there is currently no way to return the vehicle to a safe, operable condition. The vehicle cannot be moved or driven and remains stored outside. This defect creates a direct safety risk to me and others. I am unable to charge or operate the vehicle normally, and I have been advised by the dealer that the recall repair cannot be performed because there are no available batteries or parts. This leaves me without transportation and continues the safety risk identified by NHTSA, with no practical remedy or timeline. The problem has been confirmed by a Jeep dealer, and I have written documentation showing the vehicle is non-drivable due to the recall condition. I have also attempted resolution with stellantis/Chrysler capital without success. I request NHTSA investigate the lack of remedy availability and failures related to recall 25v-741/68c for affected owners whose vehicles are now immobilized.
The contact owns a 2024 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start. The contact stated that after several attempts, the vehicle started, and the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure was not duplicated. The dealer informed the contact that an error code was reset and was a communication error. In addition, the contact was informed that the check engine warning light was off. The contact had received notifications of NHTSA campaign number: 25v741000 (electrical system) and 25v766000 (engine); however, the parts for the recall repair were not yet available. The contact was informed that the recall repair for NHTSA campaign number: 25v741000 (electrical system) was performed and that the battery did not need to be replaced. In addition, the contact was informed that the vehicle was safe to drive. The contact was concerned about the potential fire risk regarding the repair. The contact requested a signed document including the statement; however, the dealer declined. The contact was informed that the signed document was not part of the policy. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000. The VIN was unavailable.
Two months ago the vehicle decided to not work at all. Couldn’t turn it on couldn’t move it. Had to have it towed where they kept it for 3 weeks and said it was main battery and replaced it. Fast forward to yesterday 12/29 and the engine light came on again. Waiting for dealership to contact when they’ll have loaner vehicle. But this is the second time in 2 months the engine light has come on. We bought the vehicle in September a month later in the shop. Now again going back to the shop. This vehicle has under 30k miles and I’m not a a very happy customer right now.
Concern: suspension, steering, and electrical system malfunction description of the problem: while driving at highway speeds (approximately 75 mph), the vehicle experiences a wiggling or unstable sensation in the suspension, making the car feel unsafe. At the same time, the steering wheel becomes stiff and difficult to turn. Additionally, a warning message appears stating “service shifter. ” when this occurs, the electrical system freezes, affecting vehicle functions. This electrical malfunction lasts for 1 to 2 days, during which systems do not respond properly before eventually resetting on their own. Safety concern: the suspension instability, loss of steering responsiveness, and electrical failure at high speeds present a serious safety risk to the driver and others on the road. Request: requesting a full inspection of the suspension, steering system, shifter system, and electrical components, including any sensors or modules that may be causing these failures.

68c recall did not fix recurring issue with this vehicle: 12/2/25 – the vehicle was towed to the dealer under safety recall 68c (battery fire risk) in an undrivable state “service charging system” message, vehicle would not disengage from park, no power, battery, charging, service engine lights on. 12/18/25 – the dealer informed me that recall 68c had been completed, stated that the vehicle was repaired and safe to drive, and told me to “rest assured. ” I was instructed to pick up the vehicle on that basis, and I did so. 12/20/25 – just two days later, while driving approximately 60 mph on the highway in electric mode with more than 90% charge, the vehicle suddenly lost electric propulsion for over 30 seconds, rapidly losing speed and nearly requiring an emergency stop in active traffic. A dash notification appeared stating “electric mode unavailable,” and the vehicle reverted to hybrid mode. I immediately left a message for the dealership that same day requesting a call back to determine next steps; no call was returned. 12/20–12/26 – because of this serious failure and ongoing safety concerns, the vehicle was driven only minimally. 12/27 – when I attempted to start the vehicle, it again failed. The dash displayed “service charging system” along with battery, service engine, and service electrical warning lights. The vehicle would not disengage from park, would not start, and had no usable power. 1/1/26- the vehicle remains at the newport Jeep dealership & service center, technicians continue to try to diagnose the problem and are unable to do so. The 68c recall was an ineffective attempt at resolving this significant recurring safety issue.
I purchased this Jeep 4xe in September 2025 and the dealer did not mention any recalls or safety concerns at the time of purchase nor did I receive any notification of a recall. My Jeep battery caught on fire just like the recall states. Fortunately a neighbor saw the fire prior to it burning down my other Jeep and barn.
My digital dashboard display is, shorting out. Started acting up on December 25th, 2025.
This is the third time my vehicle has been recalled for battery issues. Twice it has been noted that I should not drive, charge, park my vehicle in my garage, or park it near any building or person because of vehicle fire risk. In both 2023 and 2024 they performed a software update and yet this issue still persist. In 2024, since they didn't have a fix for the problem they said we should not drive our vehicle and I was without a vehicle for 2 months. Now in 2025 they are recalling for the same fire issue for the third time. Again, I am advised not to drive, not to charge, not to park in my garage, and to keep the vehicle away from people and buildings. I have again been without a vehicle for almost a month. I spoke to the dealer this morning and again they have a software update as a fix. I asked to have my battery replaced since the two previous software updates did not fix the issue. They said they were only authorized to do the software update and mopar would need to authorize a battery replacement. Spoke to mopar and they say they will do the software update and only replace the battery if needed. I do not find this acceptable. I do not feel that my car is safe to drive especially with my elderly parents, children, or pets inside and yet mopar will not authorize the replacement of my battery. I feel that after two software updates that did not fix the issue and continued vehicle fires that a battery update should be mandated, not another software update. I now have a care I don't feel safe to drive. Florida attorney general's office lemon law hotline suggested I report this issue here.
When driving in the highway 101, the car lost its power, stopping abruptly in the highway lane, which almost cause a serious car crash. This happen twice in a span of 20 min. Based on the recalls that my car has, it can be caused by manufacturer recall number78c (NHTSA recall number25v-766), or manufacturer recall numbera7c (NHTSA recall number25v-710).
There are currently 3 safety recalls; 2 with no remedies or repairs. Both recalls explain there is an imminent risk of safety. 1 recall has had no solution for over 60 days. I can’t use my vehicle as intended as it is recommended not to charge the battery.
We have had this recall for over a year and now the dealer is saying that the vehicle can't be driven and there is no timeline for a resolution. We are still required to pay our lease on the vehicle and the Jeep is not able to be driven. We are getting no help from the dealer we purchased it from or Jeep itself.
Nhtsa recall number25v-741 urgent: fire risk when parked an urgent safety recall has been issued for this vehicle and the manufacturer has recommended that you follow their instructions on how and where to park this vehicle. The information I have received from Jeep is that they currently dot have the parts or dont have a solution for this issue and I will be contacted in the future. How is the a solution that is satisfactory to NHTSA. New batteries should be provided if this will fox the problem and if it wont the option of a recall of financial compensation should be provided.
I took my Jeep into the dealership for the 68c recall and when I got it back they stated they updated the software. I checked the history of the Jeep and did not see that the dealership charge the battery to 75% or do a test drive. My understanding is that these two things out of three were to be done for the recall to be completed. I just want to make sure it was done correctly. When I contacted the dealership they did not want to answer my questions about charging the hv battery to 75% or the test drive. Also according to the paperwork from the dealership it just shows "updates per recall. ".
