immediately after purchase of my 2 door 2021 Jeep Wrangler jl (anniversary) the rear video camera stopped working at start up, and continued to be an ongoing issue, despite software reinstalls. two and a half months after purchase and with just 2000 miles on it, while driving in the rain I noticed that approximately 10 seconds after I put on the windshield wipers, the dashboard light would dim significantly, which made it difficult and distracting to see the speed at which I was driving, or the cruise control. Dimming migrated quickly after that to the monitor which became hard to read or see. Uconnect was also not working with images and audio being in discernable. not long after that, I noticed that the cruise control was also increasing the mph on its own while it was being set. Clearly having electrical issues. five days later going somewhere between 40-50mph on a highway, the Jeep shifted into manual and I could no longer accelerate. Luckily, there was not a lot of traffic and I coasted to the side of the road and pulled into a parking lot where I stopped the car, shut it off, turned it back on. The car was still working, but I was scared by what clearly could have been a life-threatening circumstance. at the dealership while the car was being delivered to me in the garage by an employee, it stopped driving in front of many employees and myself. The windshield wipers were going as fast as possible and rain was pouring down, and the car slipped into manual or park, and becoming undrivable. the car clearly has serious safety problems with the transmission and my dealership seems unconcerned about the safety of their clients. The Jeep continues to be a concern for me, and I do not feel safe driving it. I also believe this is not a new problem for Jeeps.

Have brought my car in numerous times to Jeep t correct issue. Back up camera doesn't always function. The screen is black when reversing and sometimes the screen works but without guiding lines. I cannot tell you how many times I have advised them of the issue and they have said they corrected it by resetting software or whatever but issue always comes back. I am writing to you this time because an incident that just occurred today put me over the edge. The screen was black while reversing and since my keep has a molar lift kit with 37 inch times I'm a bit high. I didn't not see or realize that someone standing behind me and I accidentally backed into them. More of a bump but none the less a scary situation. Someone could have gotten hurt. Nothing happened but I am concerned now. I'm also in law enforcement and I see accident all the time. I hope that Jeep/Chrysler corrects this issue before a tragedy happens. Back up cameras are federally mandated. So they should also be mandated to work effectively. Especially after there are so many complaints online about it. I purchased my vehicle in October of 2018 and from the beginning of my purchase I have had this issue and brought it to them to correct which they have tried but apparently failed. I cannot put a date on the bottom and correctly shows a time frame but know that is has been since October of 2018.

While driving down a winding mountain road, the "electronic throttle" warning came on as did vsc, abs, check engine and electrical. The steering became very stiff and the throttle uncontrollable. The vehicle was essentially out of control. We took it to a dealer four times, each time it wasn't fixed. The vehicle is currently at a dealer and fca is trying to figure out what is wrong with it. I heard the mechanic say they had others that were doing this. Fca refuses to describe what the problem might be to me because it's proprietary. They essentially want to try stuff, then have me risk my life testing it to see if it works. The photo is the second time it happened, on an interstate going straight. This is a 2019 Wrangler rubicon with 12k miles and completely stock. This is a very dangerous defect and fca doesn't know or doesn't want to say what it is. They sound like they are trying to cover up the problem with some sort of hacked up software fix, but the software has been completely updated. I am worried that someone will be hurt or worse if this happens to them.
As I drove off the lot I noticed the instrument panel had a distortion on it. Dealership was unable to fix (after a software upgrade). More concerning is the car shakes violently when hitting a bump in the road. I took it in 3 times without resolution. Always on the highway, at first at high speeds, now even going below the speed limit. Sometimes it resolves on it's own, but lately I have to slow down or stop to make the shaking stop. (which is very dangerous when driving on a 65mph highway), the steering wheel shakes left to right and is very loose during these times. I feel very unsafe and it feels like the wheels are going to fall off. This is a brand new vehicle. It happened 5 times on a 15 mile trip to work this morning and has been happening since I bought the car in late February 2019.
Tl the contact owns a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. While driving at any speed over a bump in the road, the vehicle shook violently without warning. The vehicle was taken to kelly Jeep Chrysler Dodge ram (978-683-8775, located at 175 pelham st, methuen, MA 01844) where a software update was performed, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer and the steering damper was replaced, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact back to the dealer for further observation. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 19,000.
No turn signals, no parking lights, no horn, doors do not unlock/ lock, cranks for several seconds before starting or does not start, hazard indicators turn on without prompting. These issues make for extremely dangerous driving. Dealer said I need a tipm replacement. There was a completed recall on the software for the tipm, but now the entire component is faulty and the repairs are over $1000. 00.

Rear camera intermittently fails to turn on and display when car is put into reverse and driving in reverse. Jeep dealership says this issue is not reported and no known solution exists. Leaving the Jeep off for several hours resolves the issue. The issue seems to be related to a software problem but does not resolve with a "reset" of the electronic information system. Multiple users have reported the exact issue in on-line Jeep forums.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced a loss of engine power and all the warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (westborn Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram, 23300 michigan Ave, dearborn, mi) where it was diagnosed that the software failed. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000.
Went to start the vehicle and when I went to turn the key the Jeep lost power to all electrical systems. After waiting for a bit the system "rebooted" and I was able to start the vehicle and go. However, this keeps happening sometimes multiple times a day and sometimes once per week. We have taken it to the dealership for repairs and they updated the wcm software to version 0. 20 and the problem still exists. We have also had episodes of the electrical systems going out while driving causing the engine to sputter, instrument panel goes dark, radio shuts off, ac fans shut off, etc. .

I started my 2007 Jeep Wrangler 4x2 (manual shift) and was sitting in the drive way (the vehicle was not in gear) when the Jeep turned itself off and restarted. At the time it restarted itself, the horn began blowing non-stop, the front and rear windshield wipers turned on, washer fluid sprayed from the rear wipers, the dash lights turned on, the radio turned on, and the interior lights turned on. I attempted to turn off the vehicle and remove the key from the ignition. The horn kept blowing, both sets of wipers were on, the interior lights remained on, the engine kept running, the dash lights remained lit, and the radio wouldn't shut off. I tried to restart the vehicle and turn it off, but nothing helped. The horn was blowing like a demon. The neighbors raced over to help me. We manually stalled the Jeep to stop the engine, but the horn, radio, lights, and wipers remained on. We disconnected the battery terminal - horn kept blowing. (this wiped out the computer codes). Then we disconnected the horn to keep it from blowing non-stop. This is the 4th time this has happened to my Jeep. On thanksgiving day 2014 - the vehicle turned itself off and turned itself back on while driving at 45mph. The abs and compass module has been replaced. Software updates have been completed. The clockspring was replaced. They claim the tipm was replaced in 2007. I called the Chrysler customer care and the dealership on all occasions after each incident and they basically told me that if they can't see any codes, then the issue didn't happen. They want to see of video. I need help with my demon Jeep - I am totally afraid to drive it and the dealership and Chrysler corporation won't help me. That thing will eventually cause a serious accident. These issues began in August 2014 and remains unresolved as of 1/17/2015.
On July 3, 2014, the vehicle lost engine power while I was driving during a 150-mile road trip. Upon coasting for a short distance, engine power restored, and I was able to accelerate and continue driving without further trouble that day. I did not take the vehicle to the dealer for repair because I assumed it was an isolated episode. However, on July 22, 2014, I again had trouble while on another 300-mile round-trip road trip. During the return drive, the vehicle lost engine power at least six times both on the interstate and on local roads. Each time, I had to coast to the side of the road so as to not block the flow of traffic. After a short time, about 30 seconds, engine power restored, and I was again able to accelerate and continue on with my trip. I took the vehicle in to the dealer on July 23, 2014, where it was kept until July 28, 2014. The technicians were unable to reproduce the issue, and the problem could not be identified. Software updates were run in an attempt to correct the problem. I again had trouble with the vehicle on August 18, 2014, when driving a 400-mile round-trip road trip. During the drive, the vehicle lost engine power five times on the interstate, at speeds up to 70 miles per hour. Upon the fifth episode that day, I took the vehicle to the closest dealer for immediate attention, as I feared I would cause an accident by losing engine power while driving on a busy interstate. The service department was unable to reproduce the issue, but the technician stated that he ¿saw signs of the problem I described during his evaluative drive. The vehicle was released to me and I was told to take it back to the usual dealer the following day for a more comprehensive evaluation. Upon driving it for over 100 miles, the service department has been unable to replicate the problem and, thus, again has been unable to identify and repair the issue.
For some time the vehicle has had an intermittent electrical starting problem, which results in a personal safety issue. Most times the vehicle starts properly. At times, however, when the key is inserted and turned, nothing happens. Sometimes the vehicle can then be started using the remote start and then operated by quickly inserting the key and turning it. At times neither the key nor the remote start will work. Typically, by alternating between attempts to use the key and remote start, the vehicle can be started within 15 minutes. The vehicle was recalled due to this issue and was recently taken to koons tysons Chrysler in virginia for service. However, after the vehicle was returned with a ¿software upgrade to correct the issue, the problem continues. It was again taken this week to koons tysons Chrysler to fix the problem, but the service center says it cannot replicate the problem on its lot and therefore won¿t do anything more. It says it completely believes there is an issue, but wants to return the vehicle, wait until the problem occurs again, and then have it towed to its service center for appraisal. Obviously, this is not a practical solution. It could present a dangerous situation of having my wife stuck who knows where (a dark parking lot, railroad crossing, etc. ) with a vehicle that won¿t start. This is a known issue for a vehicle under warranty and Chrysler needs to step to the plate, take responsibility, and fix the problem. In the meantime, i¿m driving a rental car at my expense as Chrysler will neither pay the rental bill nor fix its vehicle.

My Jeep Wrangler stalled one day and never would restart due to what the dealer later discovered is the malfunction of the totally integrated power module which apparently is a wide spread issue with Jeeps. My vehicle has been in the dealers shop in oak ridge TN for more than a month now and they are unable to get the part from the manufacture due to what they say is a back order which seems to be getting pushed back further and further on the release date as they have stated. This part has been documented as faulty and a recall for a software reprogram dating back to 2007 was issued for multiple malfunctions of this part and I as a consumer think the public should know that Jeep is incapable of producing and supplying this part in a timely manner and therefore its likely many are still driving a vehicle that is not only prone to have a stalling condition but in many cases it will be diagnosed as needing a parts replacement for various tipm problems including complete failure. It should be the responsibility of the NHTSA to investigate daimler Chrysler and their poor practices of recognizing faulty conditions and the failure to replace or act on faulty components that impact safety and drivability of their vehicles.
Occasional, apparent vehicle master computer reset occurs during normal driving. Results in momentary stalling. This has happened about 5 times since I bought the car (in 2007). I have read that this known issue and the vendors claims to have issued software patches to resolve the problem. The patches have been applied to my vehicle but the problem still remains. I have had the car to several dealers for repair - they did not find anything they could fix and did not recommend replacing the computer. I want this problem on record in case a crash does at some point occur.
See attached document. The consumer stated the vehicle stalled on several occasions. The dealer was unable to duplicate the stalling problem. The consumer then received a recall regarding the totally integrated power module. The document stated the vehicle was programmed with software that may cause the engine to stall under certain operating conditions. The vehicle was reprogrammed. Soon after, the esp and bas control lights illuminated on the dashboard. Afterwards, the traction control system light illuminated.
1) Jeep would not start after shut down 2) had to get a tow to dealership 3) wireless module for c-bus quit working, ordered new one.

I have purchased a brand new 2008 Jeep Wrangler unlimited x. After 500 miles, the "electronic throttle control" light started flashing and the vehicle stalled. Fortunately, we were able to pull over and turn the car off. After consulting the owner's manual, we followed the troubleshooting instructions and the Jeep started up fine. We drove approx 10 miles before the same problem occurred. We contacted the Jeep service department, and they said that they had never heard of this. I find this to be a serious problem considering the different conditions in which this problem could occur.
Driving home on a Friday, all the dash lights came on, the speedometer; tach, odometer and temp gauge stopped working. It kept running, so I drove it home. Got home, would not restart with either key. Remotes did not work either. Had it towed to the dealer. They were too busy to look at it, they said maybe Monday! Monday and now they have to call the tech line, never seen this problem before. I had the reflash done for the stall bug at 12k, 4k ago. Like the vehicle, but too many electronic and software bugs!! I am starting to wonder if we should be reimbursed for doing Jeep's development testing. With these types of issues making it to the field, I wonder what they found during development that we don't know about.
Stalls out, different times. Instrument lights come on, lose power for about 5 sec then regain power. Had software fix, still has problem, this problem could kill someone.
My family and I were driving up an off road trail out of telluride, colorado, when the Jeep suddenly lost all power, many dash lights illuminated the vehicle acted like the engine shut off. The engine, however, was still idling at approximately 1000 rpm's, however when the gas pedal was pressed, the rpm's would not rise, the engine's rpms would not audibly increase and no power was transferred to the wheels. This caused the Jeep to cease any forward movement and force me to roll backward to a small pull out on the single lane, mountain-side road. I put the transmission in park, shut off the engine with the keyed ignition, waited approximately 2 mintutes and restarted the Jeep. Upon restart, the Jeep regained all normal function, all of the dash lights which had been previously illuminated (minus the transmission light) had shut off. The Jeep was turned around eventually and driven back down the mountain. Had this failure happened on a different pass--one much steeper and with no cutouts such as "black bear pass" (which is nearby and where were heading), this failure could have been fatal. It is this author's opinion this "stall bug", at least on my vehicle, is attributed to the transfer case and/or transmission heating up. This is attributed to these facts: a smell was noticed just a short time before the engine quit. The transfer case was in "4hi" (four wheel drive - high range) prior to the engine quitting. After the engine stalled, the transfer case was put in "4lo" (four wheel drive - low range) and the problems ceased. Since this stall, all off road excursions have been in "4lo" and the stall bug has not re-appeared, despite the fact that steeper hills in more inhospitable terrain in the same weather have been driven over with no repeat of the stall bug. Further, the distinct smell which was noticed just prior to the stall bug occuring has not been noticed since then (when utilizing 4lo).
Electrical system failure - twice my Jeep Wrangler x 4x4 stalled and lost power while I was driving 65-70 mph on a major freeway in high traffic. Both cases are virtually identical. First occurrence was in Feb. 17, 2007 and the 2nd time was today, April 23rd. I had been driving for about 30-40 minutes before the power loss occurred. The car lost power, jerking like it had been down shifted incorrectly. All the lights on the dashboard turned on, the radio turned off and the gas bell rang. Within 3-5 seconds the car jerked sharply as the power came back on. I brought the car in to the dealership service center after the first incident and was told that they couldn't find the problem but they had "uploaded some new software". I asked if they had received any complaints of this type of electrical failure and was told no. I am bringing it back in again tomorrow morning. With no way to pull off the freeway, I was extremely lucky not to have been hit by the 18 wheeler that was right behind me during the first incident and the fast moving traffic behind me today. There were two other electrical incidents that happened during the last week in March. On March 28th, I started the car everything worked as normal but the radio wouldn't turn on and the clock wasn't on. After being on the road for an hour the radio and clocked came on by themselves. On March 29th, the passenger airbag light came on after I had been driving 10 minutes - there was nothing on the seat - it went off about 40 minutes later. I made an appointment that day to bring the car in on sat. March 31st, when I got there I was told that the tech's that handle the electrical work aren't in on saturdays. I will have them look at this tomorrow too.
