Purchased a 2002 Jeep from twin rivers auto sales, I did not receive a vehicle disclosure report and it was sold to me with a control arm bracket that was damaged was not attached to the frame which makes driving the vehicle impossible it is not attached to frame which could have cause other�and myself extreme harm or death. I was not informed of any problem with frame, after purchase the dealership told me to take it to ziebart and it would be undercoated for free, they tried to cover up with the undercoating where the control arm bracket became detached from the frame along with other defects in the frame I was only able to drive the Jeep from dealership to ziebarts for the undercoating and then had to have towed to my house due to the stabilizer link breaking because of the control arm bracket breaking away from frame due to rust, . I've tried call the dealership many times with no reply. I am thankful that no one was injured or dead if this would've happened while I was driving on hwy, the purchase price was 6700. 00 and then additional 5 new tires 600. 00 and two leaking and bent rims at 75. 00 for a total of 7375. 00 on a unsafe vehicle which the dealership new about . I am extremely disappointed, and frustrated with this situation. I need help getting this resolved but they will not rerun my calls and have hung up on me I have photos and a inspection saying that it was safe when far from being safe point blank this dealership sold me a vehicle that was u safe for others and myself to be on the road so now I am out all of this money and I can't drive the vehicle please investigate this situation so that they can not due business in this manner and I can resolve this with either giving me back my cost of the Jeep and tires and rims . I don't know what else to do or who to contact in trying to get my money back it is a lot of money for a Jeep I can't drive.

2020 Jeep Wrangler unlimited rubicon. The driver side control arm bracket on my front axle is not welded on one side. The weld missed the bracket all together. There is a recall for some 2020s, but mine is not listed. Jeep told me since mine is not listed, there is nothing they can do. Also even if it was impacted, there is no fix yet. My front axle could come loose at any time due to missing weld causing a loss of control. This is a serious safety concern and they will not do anything about it.

Frame rotted from the inside out around the lower control arms. The chassis is otherwise rust free, but it spontaneously rotted from the inside out. The lower control arm disconnected while driving down the highway, leaving the rear axle free floating, unstable, and very likely to cause a crash. The frame has holes in it that let water in. There is no drainage hole where the frame goes from flat on the bottom and curves up around the wheel wells. Water gets into the frame, sits there, and rots it from the inside out. There is no way to see this rot from the outside and there is no way to fix it without cutting open the frame and welding in repairs. Toyota had a frame recall, why can't Jeep? it's clearly failing in the exact same place and can cause severe safety issues. Attached is a picture "pre_rot" that showed it about 6 months(?) before it completely rotted through. The other picture is after it failed while driving down the highway. It was a small rust bubble that started from the inside out that fairly rapidly resulted in complete structural failure.

Tl the contact owns a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. While driving between 50-75 mph, the front end of the vehicle occasionally experienced the "death wobble". After driving over a bump in the road, the front end of the vehicle would violently wobble and shake. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (robert loehr Jeep, 567 e. Main st. Cartersville, GA) where it was diagnosed that the control arm was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 9,000.
Jeep has less than 40,000 miles and is well maintained never off road. . Was driving over a bridge when the rear end felt like it was separating from the body of the Jeep. Jeep became impossible to control and I was almost hit trying to get the vehicle off the road. Jeep was towed to mechanic who said the frame is no good rear control arms separated from the frame the frame had rusted out from the inside. There is no solid steel left to weld onto.
Frame rusted from inside out causing both upper and lower control arms and passenger rear to separate. Luckily it did not happen while driving , was noticed when safety inspection was done.
Tl the contact owns a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. While driving approximately 45 mph, the contact heard a popping noise coming from the front of the vehicle. The vehicle pulled to the right and stopped in a field. The contact noticed that the bracket to the control arm was fractured. The vehicle was towed to efird Chrysler in florence, south carolina where it was diagnosed that the bracket to the control arm was fractured. The vehicle remained at the dealer for eight weeks. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 57,000.

"tj Wrangler frame rust" - severe rust occurred in the frame of my 1998 Jeep Wrangler. Vehicle would no longer pass PA state inspection. Rust was due to no drainage hole and frame rusted from inside out. Rust occurred on both driver and passenger sides just in front of the rear control arms and extended front to the transfer case mounting points. I have researched this issue and it is very common and many poor Jeep owners are parting out perfectly good Jeeps due to them not being able to pass state inspections - luckily no one has been harmed due to this frame damage that I am aware of - some videos on the internet show the entire frame rusted away! this needs to be brought to the attention of Jeep as this is obvious a design flaw and owners should be compensated. If there is any doubt of how severe this is simple do a google search! Toyota took care of their customers!!!.

The driver's side lower control arm mount on our 2004 Jeep Wrangler broke off from the frame while driving. While accelerating on a city street, there was a loud bang noise from underneath the vehicle, and the Jeep became extremely difficult to control and started wandering all over the road. Upon pulling over and looking underneath the vehicle we found that there were extreme amounts of rust and corrosion inside the frame that was visible from the outside. This rust caused the entire lower control arm mount to break off from the frame. Another rot hole was found further up the frame near the transmission skidplate/cross-member assembly as well.

Purchased vehicle used in may 2015. I'm the second owner. On approximately Aug. 29, while driving and making a left turn from a stop, I heard a banging noise. The same banging noise happened about 1 week later (Sep. 3), but this time when turning right from a stop. I drove vehicle home and inspected under the vehicle to check it out. I discovered that the upper control arms on both the driver rear and passenger rear sides are completely broken into. Vehicle is still under 3 year 36/000 factory warranty and I also purchased an extended warranty. The dealer provided a "recall report" which came back clean. My vehicle has been parked since Sep 3. I am having it towed to a Chrysler dealership in a couple of days after parts come in for repair. This vehicle could have come totally apart had I been driving at a high rate of speed.

Jeep death wobble breaking front control arm and track bar bracket causing loss of steering shooting the vehicle across 2 lanes road, thankfully no on coming traffic and was able to stop vehicle in grass prior to the ditch. Second episode of this, 1st episode that caused bracket failure and the bracket was fixed, alignment and all front suspension components were checked, Jeep continues to do death wobble and is a hazard to drive. This incident happened at about 51 mph, previous incidents have happened with out equipment failure ranging from 45mph - 52mph. I am afraid that injuries will happen if Chrysler does not address this matter as it is well documented on the internet with 2007-2012 Jeep Wranglers and it being a manufacturer's flaw on these models.

Due to excessive rot that is common on this vehicle, while traveling I hit a bump and snapped my driver side control arm. This consequently made for a dangerous ride. While attempting to repair it I noticed how bad the frame was rotted, but unlike normal circumstances where the outside and inside would have equal corrosion. The inside was was rotted much worse, and parts of the frame easily crumbled.
Driving down the road the rear upper control arm brackets separated from the frame as a result of the frame corroding from the inside out. This caused the rear brake line to brake draining the master cylinder.
The frame around the control arms are rusting, this could be a serious problem that needs addressed and there are more 97-06 Wranglers with rusted frames than not.
Frame was rotted through from control arm towards the back of the vehicle. The vehicle braking ability became difficult and hard to steer.
The frame is rotting away, the frame rot clearly started many years ago. The rust is quite bad and will not stop. In an accident, the body could possibly fly off the frame possibly being fatal. The frame is rusting from control arm brackets to body mounts all of which can lead to very dangerous situations.
Search internet for jk death wobble. Chrysler llc has a huge problem with jk Wrangler than need recall before some one dies due to losing control to the front end of their vehicle. Our 2008 Jeep Wrangler has been plagued with suspension and front axle steering issues for its entire existence including a stabilizer replacement at approx 20,000 miles 6 years ago. Noticed a noise while driving home the other day thought it may have been my exhaust rattling around, so I got under vehicle to inspect the noise, and what I found was that the rear part of the frame has rusted away and the brackets for the rear trailing arms had detached from the frame allowing the arms to drop, and on this particular side the brake lines are attached to this control arm. I know that Toyota had a similar recall on the truck frames for rust perforation, and that Jeep had one on the liberty for the rear lower control arms rusting and breaking. I am an automotive technician and my personal Jeep is not the first one I have seen with this potentially dangerous condition. I also googled this problem and found that its very common in these vehicles as well.
The frame is rotten out, and this is a common problem with the Jeep tj's. I have a hole on my my tail section of frame and on the rear control arm area.
I was driving in the mountains and noticed an unusual noise under my Jeep and got out to check it out and found that my frame had cracked under the passenger seat where the control arm is welded to the frame. After looking more closely, the frame has completely rusted through and is a hole has developed for approximately 20 inches along the center of the bottom of the frame rail and up and through where the control arm bracket is welded to the frame. There is only about 1 inch of weld still holding on the outside bracket. I was afraid to drive home. From the looks of the rust, the entire frame could buckle at any time. I am not a rock crawler and do not abuse my Jeep. It is all stock and has really only been down dirt roads and not trails. Upon searching online, I found that many other Wrangler owners are experiencing a similar problem several actually had their crossover support for the transmission fall out of the vehicle. I know these vehicles are 10 years old but we are talking about the frame here. This is unsafe and certainly a manufacturer defect or design oversight. After all, it is a Jeep which is expected to get some use off road. I can't imagine what it would be like if I truly spent some time off road. Please take the necessary steps to at least let owners know there could be a problem. I normally don't look under my vehicle and this could have easily gone unnoticed and compromised the entire frame structure if I had an accident.

The contact inspected the vehicle and noticed that the lower control arm was corroded and cracked. I was driving along a rural road when I hit a bump and the transmission crossmember tore away from the bottom of the frame making it impossible to shift in to 2nd, 4th, or reverse. It is due to the bottom of the frame rotting away. Upon closer inspection I have noticed that the frame is rotted beyond repair and the lower control arm brackets are in danger of being ripped from the frame if vehicle is driven. The frame has prematurely rotted and is a danger to anyone who drives or encounters this vehicle on the road in passing. I have investigated the possibility of replacing the frame but have found it hard to find a suitable replacement due to this problem being very widespread. It is in fact so widespread that a company called auto rust repair makes prefab frame patches. These incidents of rot are very similar to the ones that caused Toyota to recall many pickups over the last five years or so.
14mm bolts were installed on the assembly line of the manufacturer (Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep) in the track bar bushings and lower control arms of the Jeep Wrangler suspensions, which actually calls for a 9/16" bolt. Not only were the wrong size bolts used, the wrong type of bolts were used in the installation. The bolts used were threaded to the head, rather than using the appropriate "shoulder" bolt - threaded at the bottom and smooth up to the head. By installing the wrong bolts, the threads have eaten away at the inside of the bushings, causing the round hole to have wear from the cutting action, thus loosening the surface area inside which can lead to "death wobble". Death wobble is where the ball joints, track bars, and lower control arms in the suspension flutter while driving, causing the steering wheel and the suspension to shake violently, which is extremely unsafe and can result in a potential accident or even death. I expect Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep to issue a recall and a technical service bulletin to all affected vehicles. I took my Jeep to my dealership and upon examination, sure enough, there was significant wear inside the bushings where these bolts were installed by the manufacturer. I am a second owner of a 2006 Jeep Wrangler unlimited. After purchasing the Jeep, I experienced the "death wobble". This is when the front right tire of the vehicle hits a bump at highway speeds and the front suspension goes into an undrivable wobble. To recover you either take your foot of the accelerator or attempt to brake. There are youtube videos showing this occurring. I took the Jeep to a shop where the owner had a Jeep and knew about the "death wobble". He aligned the vehicle and inspected all the front end suspension parts. This did not help. He balanced all the tires. This helped for but the wobble returned. After returning to the service shop the owner replaced the control arm bushings. This helped for 2-3 days. Now the death wobble is back. The Jeep is unsafe to drive.

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Wrangler 4dr 4x4. While driving approximately 55 mph over a bump, the vehicle began to shake uncontrollably. The contact was able to drive onto the emergency lane, and was unable to detect a problem. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated the front lower control arm, tie rod ends, steering damper and ball joints would need to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified and stated they would be responsible for the cost of the parts which does not include labor. The contact scheduled an appointment for the vehicle to be repaired. I am the owner of a 2007 Jeep Wrangler and have had a major failure of the steering/suspension of the Jeep. In researching this I find the complaint is a rather common failure. Do a google of "Jeep death wobble" and scan selected items of 19000 hits for Jeeps made from the 1990's to present. The Jeep has 9500 miles. The incidence occurred at about a speed of 40-55 miles per hour after riding over frost waves in the road. The Jeep went into a violent vibration mode where steering was very difficult and the Jeep was out of control. The Jeep when slowed to about 30 the vibration disappeared and it was slowly driven to a Jeep dealer (owl Chrysler Jeep) honesdale, PA. Eleven days later the Jeep was returned perhaps repaired but some things don't seem right. I have met another person with the same / similar problem and on the internet find many complaints of what is referred to as a death wobble. Believe me a good description. Had this occurred in winter weather, rain or on a curve I would perhaps be a statistic as there for a few seconds no control over the direction or steering of the vehicle. I believe that Chrysler knows of this problem for what appears to be years and is still manufacturing vehicles with a design/material flaw. The repair number from owl r. O. Number 24079 the parts replaced are: front lower control arms and bushings. Old parts retained by dealer as perhaps warranty repair. Control arm bracket snapped. Consumer stated that the right control arm bracket snapped off and left control arm bracket twisted causing the vehicle to swerve and ran off of the road.
