Subject: urgent safety complaint regarding Jeep with death wobble – purchased from maxon Buick GMC, union, NJ dear NHTSA, I am writing to report a serious safety issue involving a Jeep SUV I purchased for my son on [xxx], from maxon Buick GMC located in union, new jersey. The vehicle was purchased for over $30,000, and within the first day of driving, my son began experiencing what is commonly referred to as the "death wobble. " this violent shaking occurs unexpectedly while driving and has been happening every day since the vehicle was purchased. After doing some research, we learned that the “death wobble” is a known issue with certain Jeep models, and the symptoms are consistent with what my son has experienced. It is extremely frightening and dangerous, and I am deeply concerned for his safety and the safety of others on the road. I do not understand how a dealership is allowed to sell a vehicle in this condition. Selling a vehicle with such a potentially deadly defect is both irresponsible and unethical. This issue must be investigated and addressed immediately to prevent further risk to drivers and passengers. Please consider this an urgent request to look into this matter. I would appreciate confirmation of this complaint and any information on what steps will be taken to hold the dealership and manufacturer accountable. I have video while it's happening but unable to upload for some reason thank you for your time and attention to this critical safety issue. Sincerely, [xxx] [xxx] [xxx] [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

On [xxx] while driving my 2018 Jeep Wrangler unlimited sport (VIN: [xxx] ), the braking system failed without warning while I was approaching a stop sign on a residential road. I pressed the brake pedal and felt extreme resistance and grinding, followed by a near-total lack of braking power. I was forced to abruptly swerve into an open driveway to avoid a collision. This sudden malfunction put my life and the safety of others at serious risk, especially had it occurred on a highway or near pedestrian traffic. The affected component appears to be part of the braking system—likely the master cylinder, brake booster, or brake line integrity—but a full diagnosis is pending inspection. There were no warning lights or messages displayed on the dashboard at any time prior to or during the failure. The vehicle gave no indication that a malfunction was imminent. Immediately after the incident, I parked the vehicle and did not attempt to drive it again. As of now, the issue has not yet been formally confirmed by a dealer, but I am in the process of getting it inspected by a certified independent mechanic, and I am willing to make the vehicle and its components available for inspection upon request. I also plan to provide documentation once the evaluation is complete. I only recently purchased this Jeep from carvana a few months ago, and it is extremely concerning that such a critical failure could occur so soon. The vehicle has two completed recalls related to steering and rear windows, but none that address braking—making this unexpected failure even more alarming. I believe this could indicate a larger pattern or potential defect that has not yet been officially acknowledged or addressed. This event was dangerous and could have resulted in a serious accident. I am requesting that this complaint be formally investigated, and I am open to cooperating fully with NHTSA, Chrysler, or any affiliated parties in reviewing the failure and addressing issue. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia).

After purchasing seems the VIN was updated with information I was not disclosed. The bcm has never worked correctly the instrument panel is erratic and even with a code reader showing p codes there’s no check light. The steering makes the entire vehicle jump over half a road. Blind spot monitors don’t know what to do sometimes they are unavailable, odometer has all 9s sometimes. I did all the checks on the vehicle at the time and what I was given showed I had a 2018 4 door sahara and that was what I was led to believe. After having issues and getting my registration I started looking at everything more because the dealer registered me as a commercial passenger truck(still don’t know why) but found a report that says moab/sahara and my seems my vehicles body chasis and motor are all over the place. I’m pretty sure the engine is failing as at one point in one of the reports I found it stated it failed emissions. But the overall worst is that the suspension looks like it came off the titanic compared to the body panels, there’s a lot of welding and rusted or “appearingly tampered” pieces in the chassis and the vehicle seems to be coming apart at every seam. I am currently not driving it because it looks to have sank down to where it could be dangerous I’m pretty sure the suspension, frame, and axles aren’t rated for what’s on it and sounded like something may be coming off at the wheel or axle area last time I did drive it. The vehicle I thought I was purchasing had safety guidelines and there is 2. 0 parts, 3. 6 parts on this along with random other countries parts. It was bought used “as-is” but not under the pretense that they assembled it by hand from leftovers. It wouldn’t pass safety standards or emissions in a foreign country much less in the united states. I am starting here but will be seeking legal counsel. No longer certain I even have a Jeep frame or chassis or just some panels stuck to a rusting timebomb. I’ve only drove like 8,000 miles. Now I’m scared to.
Statement of facts 1. I am the registered owner of a 2023 Jeep Wrangler rubicon (VIN: [xxx]), purchased for approximately $75,000 usd, inclusive of all taxes and registration, in cash. 2. I have been driving different cars for over 25 years and have owned multiple vehicles. This Jeep Wrangler is the most expensive vehicle I have ever owned, and the only one to cause severe safety issues for me and my family. 3. I primarily drive this vehicle on weekends with my two young children (ages [xxx] and [xxx]) seated in the rear seats. The persistent and unresolved mechanical issues with this vehicle have directly jeopardized our physical safety and my livelihood( I couldn’t go to work during many weeks) 4. There are new problems related to manufacturing defects that keep poping up every month since last 6 months while the car is only used for 25k and under basic warranty (example on top of serious death wobble issue , there are incidents of coolant issues, 95b safety recall, battery pack issues- refer below photos, in addition I have phone messages and videos of death wobble as evidence) issues and service history 4. At approximately 5,000 miles of use, the vehicle began exhibiting significant technical issues. 5. The first major defect was related to the battery pack, which rendered the vehicle inoperable. The dealership held the vehicle for approximately two months in 2023 to address this issue. 6. Over the last six months, the vehicle developed a recurring and dangerous condition widely referred to as the "death wobble" – a violent and uncontrollable shaking of the vehicle while driving on the freeway. 7. This defect has occurred multiple times, forcing me to immediately pull over on the freeway, placing me, my children, and surrounding drivers at serious risk of harm or collision. 8. I have documented multiple instances of the death wobble via video and have submitted evidence to both: othe Jeep dealership ojeep customer care / fca us llc 9. Despite my repeat information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information.

This vehicle is not suitable for driving, it has suspension, alignment, brake and speed problems. I was about to have an accident, I was going down an avenue and suddenly the wheels stopped and the car began to move from one side to the other and I lost stability of the steering wheel and the car, putting my life and the lives of my family (my girlfriend and my mother) at risk, luckily I did not cause an accident because there was no car in the side lane . . . It is impossible to drive this car, the next day I took the car to a detailed inspection at a mechanical workshop specialized in Jeeps and indeed it has serious and serious problems with the car. There are images where the lights on the dashboard are on and the engine is also overheated . . . For this reason, I decided to return the car to the dealer and file the report as evidence of this defective car and dangers to driving . . .

My 2019 Jeep Wrangler sahara with 2. 0 liter turbo engine has had two failed “rear axle assemblies or differentials” within 3 years of each other. The first time was in July 2022, and my service repair order says rear diff replacement. Now this time, my dealer is saying we need the whole rear axle assembly which is on national back order. No current eta for delivery, with no additional info other than none are even in production at this time. Since my vehicle is under warranty for another 4,000 miles or so, I would like to use stellantis warranty for my repair. However, they are no help and are saying we cannot order a different oe part, or a used part. The vehicle is unsafe to drive as I can feel my loss of control especially on wet roads in florida. After searching the internet I have found this is a common problem with the sport, and sahara versions from 2018-2025. Now that we can’t even get replacement parts, it creates a whole other set of problems. I would like to mention everything is factory on my Jeep and I have never been off roading. Not even once. So 2 failed rear axles is just unacceptable.

I was driving about 65 mph and was turning with the road and my Jeep started to shake violently. I just about lost control of the vehicle. I pulled over on the interstate to check and see if I had a flat on a front tire or if the wheel was falling off of the Jeep. It was a very scary and unpleasant experience to have at 4:30 am going to work. Not sure what the problem is with the suspension or steering, but I thought for sure I was going to get in a wreck and traffic is really heavy which would have been very bad for many drivers!.
The car started to shake uncontrollably at highway speed without warning. Steering was very difficult. It was difficult to even see out of the vehicle due to extreme shaking. The car is going to the dealer to be examined. This is a low mileage daily driver, completely stock, with no modifications.
Unknown Jeep has been violently shaking uncontrollably while driving. Speed of driving has been between 30-75mph.

My Jeep's steering is excessively loose. There is a good amount of dead space in the steering wheel that the vehicle does not respond. The vehicle wonders left to right constantly and have to continue to correct for it's action. It becomes more of a safety hazard when there is a slight wind or passing or being passed by a larger vehicle like a truck for instance. The vehicle also shifts let and right depending on road conditions, meaning cracks in the pavement or pot holes of any size. I feel very unsecure or unsafe particularly at higher speeds. Please help and thank you in advance.
This is a 2021 Jeep with 23,000 miles on it. We inherited the Jeep after my father in law that passed away a few months ago. My wife was coming from hampton virginia going through the [xxx]. She hit a bump in the tunnel at 55 miles in hour and the steering wheel stated to shake. Se managed to slow down and the shaking slowed down to were she could get out of the tunnel. The vehicle was towed home. After reading some articles about this problem "death wobble" I contacted the local Jeep dealer on military highway in norfolk va. The service department told my wife it would be 250. 00 to look at the problem and would return the 250. 00 it its under warranty. I was almost killed when my Jeep did the death wobble at 70 mph on the freeway. It violently shook out of control while I was in the fast lane of the freeway without warning. I had no control over the steering wheel, and it was pulling me towards the freeway wall. Slowing the car down was very difficult because it was jerking around so violently. I got off the freeway very slowly with my hazards on. A pickup truck followed me off the freeway to make sure I was ok. He said the tires were going crazy, and everybody saw it. It was an 18 wheeler next to me, and I could have died. I only have abt 30,000 miles. Now I’m selling it, because I’m terrified. I live in michigan, if there was snow or ice it definitely would have been tragic. It’s in the shop under warranty, but Jeep dealership telegraph rd in southfield said something was bent and it was my fault why it went out of control. But whatever is bent, got bent from the violent shaking. I didn’t even hit anything. This happened on Thursday on the way to work, when I first got on the freeway it shook a little, and I was getting ready to pull over, then it stopped. 5 mins later that’s when the death wobble occurred. I took it to Jeep around a year ago when it was shaking. They said it didn’t do it, and nothing was wrong.
Death wobble. While driving at freeway speeds hitting a road bump my Jeep went into a severe uncontrollable shaking wherein the entire car was moving sideways and in an up and down motion. I did some research online and found this condition to be a common Jeep Wrangler problem. I brought the car to the dealer and they said it is a known problem with the steering damper. In my research online, many believe the problem is the tie rod, drag link and ball joints are the cause and the steering damper just masks the symptoms until it wears out. I had a third party off road repair shop look at the suspension parts and they noted the drag link had play within the bushings and recommended it be replaced. Upon not visit to the dealer, I asked them to check it out and they said everything was fine except the steering damper was bad. I had the replace the steering damper. I am still getting a shaking vibration at freeway speeds while hitting a bump in the road. It is not as severe but it definitely shakes the steering wheel and the vehicle enough to be concerned that something is wrong with the suspension. If you search death wobble you will find the exact condition I am experiencing. Jeep says everything is okay with the vehicle and yet I am still experiencing a vibration. My warranty expires 5/29/25. Thank you [xxx] [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
While on a trip from texas to arizona on the interstate highway system I was passing a semi-truck and my front wheels and steering wheel experienced a very violent vibration. The vibration would not stop until I slowed from 75 mph to approximately 35 mph. Very dangerous at that speed, while passing, and moderate traffic. This happened to me again in south texas where I live on a state highway where I was shifting into third gear accelerating through about 50 mph with the exact same vibration until I slowed below 30 mph. We also have the same year 2023 Jeep gladiator and we experienced the exact same issue after hitting a small bump traveling at approximately 70 mph. Since then I have looked into the issue on the internet and it is abuzz with Jeep owners and claims of a "death wobble" in the steering system. It appears there was a previous lawsuit in which the manufacturer was not found at fault but this problem persists based on the internet traffic I've seen and the number of products being offered, by after market companies, to correct this issue. I can enter the gladiator VIN and another report if that helps. Please advise. . .
The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving on the highway at 65 mph and driving over a pothole, the vehicle started violent shake and the steering wheel seized. The contact pulled over, came to a complete stop and was able to continue driving. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed and the contact was informed that the shocks were leaking hydraulic fluid, and the steering damper was faulty. The contact was informed that the shocks needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 23,500.
I have read a lot about the "death wobble. " it appears there has been no recall on this but I believe there have been many incidents. Almost every day that the vehicle is driven and we hit a bump in the road going between 30-45 miles the steering wheel shakes aggressively. Would you not call this a definitely a safety hazard? the second issue is the dash board reading goes blank occasionally. Unable to see the speed and or gas usage. Both issues I would say are safety issues. It appears that many Jeep owners have faced the same issues. Neither of these issues have been inspected. I don't feel that we should be responsible for the cost of the inspection. Jeep should stand behind their product.
We have been experiencing a bouncing and shaking in the front end of our vehicle while driving at highway speeds. This happens when hitting the slightest bump or transitions from pavement to concrete. Last week while driving on the highway the shaking and bouncing was so violent that I can't believe I didn't lose control. I brought the vehicle to the dealer and for the second time they replaced more suspension items in the front end. After doing some research I found out that this has been a problem with these vehicles for quite some time and that it's known as the "death wobble". After what I experienced I can understand why. I called Jeep and spoke to multiple people in different departments and as they acknowledge the problem they don't seem to care how unsafe the issue is. I can't believe there haven't been any deaths related to this and I'm hoping you might investigate these issues further before that happens.
I was driving off the lot entering the interstate when the steering started wobbling and pulling upon accelerating and likely hitting a bump. Took back to dealership and 2 mechanics drove it and one with me in which nothing really happened compared to the surprising first incident. They are not a Jeep dealership but reassured me all normal for Jeep but will do whatever it takes to make right. Could ask them to replace damper or tracking rod but what if not the problem. I have 2 weeks to decide what to do. Otherwise it has been great but I know there was a recall on certain Jeeps “death wobbles” it was certainly scary.
Vehicle make/model/year: 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe component affected: steering / suspension or wheels not sure mileage at first incident: 30000 approx odometer now: 33150 approx complaint summary: my 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe has experienced repeated incidents of "death wobble" and uncontrolable shake , where the steering wheel shakes violently and the vehicle becomes difficult to control. Both my husband and I have experienced this issue multiple times, often after hitting small bumps or uneven pavement also in the highway when at speeds over 60 mph. We have taken the vehicle to the dealership twice, ( this is after "fixing this issue twice supposely) explained the issue in detail, and requested a thorough inspection. Despite this, the vehicle was returned to us both times with no resolution, and the dealership stated they could not recreate the issue. We later confirmed with Jeep customer care that the service center did not open a star case as requested, and the original case was closed without resolution. This issue is intermittent, which is well-known with death wobble cases, yet no action has been taken to investigate or repair the root cause. This raises serious concerns about driver and passenger safety. The issue is ongoing, and we have now had to reopen the case with Jeep and escalate the matter ourselves. We have also discovered inconsistencies with other service claims. For example, the dealership claimed the battery was replaced during a previous visit, yet the physical battery under the seat has a sticker showing the same manufacturing date as the original, raising doubts that it was actually replaced. This is a dangerous, unresolved issue affecting the safety of our vehicle, and we are seeking accountability and formal investigation through the proper channels.
I am writing to formally express my frustration and concern regarding an ongoing issue with my 2021 Jeep Wrangler unlimited. For several years, I have experienced severe shaking in my vehicle when driving at speeds between 50-70 mph after hitting a minor bump. The vibrations are so severe that it feels like the vehicle is going to shred itself in half. The issue has gotten worse over the years. Once this occurs, it requires rapid deceleration to 40 mph for the issue to subside. Most concerning is that on [xxx], this shaking occurred twice while driving in heavy traffic on [xxx] with my [xxx] son in the back seat. The severity of the issue poses an undeniable safety risk—not just to me and my passengers, but to others on the road as well. Given Jeep’s reputation for durability and off-road capability, it is deeply disappointing that such a serious issue is not being addressed with more urgency. After the event on [xxx], I initially addressed this issue with a Jeep service center at dellen Chrysler Jeep and Dodge in greenfield, in. I was informed that the problem was related to the steering damper. However, despite recognizing the issue, my vehicle has yet to receive the necessary replacement due to a nationwide shortage of the part more than 2 months later. I implore someone from dellen, Jeep, and/or nhtsb to do the right thing and properly warn owners about this serious safety issue. As a consumer and Jeep fan, it is unacceptable to me that: 1) a vehicle fails this catastrophically during normal driving, putting the public at risk. 2)Jeep doesn’t have sufficient inventory to fix the problems. 3)Jeep isn’t doing anything to make owners aware of this seriousness of the issue. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Excessive front end wobble at highway speeds. Car shakes violently until you are able to slow down.
It is the death wobble. I took the car in once. My cars started violently shaking when I would hit 58 miles per hour and curve to the left, or the right and shakes so uncontrollably that I would have to tap the brakes but not too hard. Is I did not want to go off the road period there were cars that were behind me. That would shoot off to every direction trying to get around me. And yes, of course it's dangerous. Not supposed to be going down the interstate. Drinking a d*** bloody mary anyways. I took it into 2 dealerships. There are car places around where I live. They went ahead and diagnosed it and charged me $5060 or no 70 something. To fix it and it was even worse, so I brought it back to them. They tried to balance the other tire but that did not work, and that is the point where the other mechanics came over and said, that's the death wobble, which I had never heard of. He then told me about the staring damper, which then I looked everything up and saw that you had a class action settled where you were supposed to take cars in and fix them. However, this person seems scared of their own shadow, so who knows, but I asked for the history to see if anything had been done? and you guys, Jeep or Jeep, refuse to give it to me, said I would have to call the dealership, I called the dealership, they said, OH we don't give you a copy of that. I said, well, why wouldn't you? I mean, it is my car that I'm buying from y'all and they said, yeah, sorry, we don't do that. You'll have to get like a car, fax or something. I'm like, hold on, you guys. Sure, don't want to pay for anything. Considering this whole entire thing. Is your fault? and uh, the fact that you guys asked for a VIN number in order to fix my vehicle is ridiculous because whether you had the VIN numbers stored or not, it's a 2018, and I got the d*** death wobble. Now, mine happens to be a limited edition golden eagle. And you will see in the videos. I told them it was going to end up costing them a lot mor.
I am submitting this formal complaint to the national highway traffic safety administration (NHTSA) regarding a premature front cv axle boot failure on a Jeep Wrangler with only 16,000 miles. This failure occurred under normal operating conditions and is indicative of a systemic durability defect that could pose serious long-term safety concerns if left unaddressed. The vehicle was brought to an authorized Jeep dealership in new jersey after grease was observed leaking from the front axle. Inspection revealed a torn cv axle boot. Importantly, photographic and video documentation confirm the vehicle was never subjected to off-road use, impact, or any owner-induced damage. Despite this, the dealership refused warranty coverage, claiming no cause could be determined—yet arbitrarily attributing it to external influence without any supporting evidence. This type of failure in a critical drivetrain component at such low mileage raises substantial questions regarding material integrity, seal design, and long-term reliability—issues which fall under NHTSA’s authority pursuant to 49 u. S. Code § 30118 – notification of defects and noncompliance and 49 cfr § 573 – defect and noncompliance responsibility and reports. Additionally, Jeep Wranglers have a well-documented history of drivetrain-related problems, including steering instability, axle vulnerability, and component fatigue—many of which have already resulted in technical service bulletins (tsbs) and consumer complaints to your agency. This suggests an ongoing pattern of premature wear and reliability concerns that may meet the threshold for a safety-related defect investigation. While the failure in this instance did not yet result in an accident or injury, the cv joint and axle boot are vital components of the steering and stability system. A compromised cv joint due to undetected boot failure can lead to sudden loss of control, especially at highway speeds. The failure mode—occurring silently over time—is precisely the.

Our Jeep has the death wobble and its been to the dealership twice. First trip, they had us replace the front shocks and the steering stabilizer/damper. Did not help at all. Now they are saying we should try a tru-center stabilizer, by looking on the web, they think that will fix it. Really don't want or think we should have to keep tossing parts and money into this, hoping it might fix it. Right now we are afraid to drive it on the interstate. Its starts to shake so bad when we switch lanes on the interstate, it almost makes you want to hit the brakes. Traveling on an interstate is not a safe place to hit the brakes to stop the wobble or a place to have a car go out of control. Jeep is a 2022 Wrangler unlimited with 44000 miles on it. Stock suspension, no lift kit, stock wheels and tires.
This is a 2022 Jeep Wrangler sport with 40k miles on it. It was bought brand new. We are experiencing what is called the "death wobble" where the suspension parts give out and create a severe wobble in the front suspension and steering of the vehicle at highway speeds. The 2019 Jeep had a recall on this problem as well.
Death wobble on this vehicle. It shakes uncontrollably at higher speeds after hitting a bump in the road.
The vehicle violently shakes after hitting minor bumps on the road. The steering wheel shakes not allowing you to have control of the vehicle. The vehicle can hit another vehicle or roll over due to this defect. This is a serious issue linked to poor quality parts and craftsmanship from the manufacturer. This can cause serious injury or death if not fixed immediately. This also causes the alignment to go out and pre-mature wear and tear on the tires. Mark my words someone will die from this failure.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving at approximately 55 mph, the vehicle violently shuddered. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed; however, the cause of the failure was not determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic to be diagnosed; however, the cause of the failure was not determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to a different independent mechanic where it was diagnosed and determined that the track bar needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Driver had 50,000 miles maintenance service scheduled when the engine light went on a week prior to the service date. Therefore she asked the mechanic to do a diagnostic check on engine and mechanic at the Jeep dealership reported list of problems which solutions found which include: replace thermostat and holding replace vacuum pump replacing u-joint replacing all ball joints replacing front axle seals replacing both shocks replacing engine oil cooler driver has been working from home for 6 years and the Wrangler is driven on weekends and never done off roading. Jeep was purchased new in 2016.
At 40 mph and above and without warning, the front end of the vehicle will begin to bounce and shake from side to side causing the steering wheel to also shake, thus making it difficult for the driver to safely steer the vehicle. Once speed is reduced the shaking stops and normal control is regained. This issue has occurred multiple times and lasts anywhere from a few seconds to over a minute.
Drag link and tie rod links failed under 50,000 miles. This has caused an extremely unsafe driving scenario for both occupants and other drivers. This is a well known issue within the automobile community, condition is nicknamed death wobble. The vehicle has been taken to the dealership for the issue and diagnosed. The manufacture refused any help to remedy the issue knowingly putting my family in danger. No warnings given within the vehicle. Issue arised on the highway traveling at 70mph shaking the vehicle off the road.
Death wobble/uncontrollable shaking when vehicle hits any kind of inconsistencies in the road, especially on the freeway. Yes it’s available for inspection upon request. I have taken it to the local Jeep dealership mechanics and les schwab auto center to have the problem inspected/fixed and both have told me “everything looks fine” but it is absolutely not fine when I have to put my hazards on and pull over to almost a complete stop to get the shaking to stop on the freeway. It’s terrifying. No lights or warnings happen before the incident occurs.
- (1) failed/black instrument cluster/panel. Unable to see mileage, fuel level, engine temperature, tire pressure, etc. - I can hear multiple warning lights going off, but I'm unable to see any. - the vehicle has been brought in for servicing at my nearest Jeep dealership - the vehicle is currently being inspected at my nearest Jeep dealership - there were no warning messages or lamps prior to failure. The issue first appeared on 1/25/2025. The panel has not turned on since.
While traveling at highway speed crossed a road expansion joint and the vehicle began to shake. On this particular trip of approximately 250 miles, it only occurred at these higher speeds. Slowing down eliminated the "death wobble. " a TSB has been issued that possibly addresses this issue. A review of the internet indicates that this problem has been persist and prevalent for this car model for over a decade, and is a safety issue. This should trigger a recall to address this problem.
