Ever since the 68c recall update my Jeep has been having a hard time knowing what system it should be using to drive. The electric system shuts off, but the engine doesn’t start up until I press the gas pedal to the floor. I’ve had multiple instances on the freeway where this has happened and almost caused me to wreck. I’m very concerned this is happening.

My wife and I were at a stop light behind a box truck in our 2018 Jeep Wrangler, about 15 feet between us. I had slowed to stop and had my foot on the brake. All of the sudden the Jeep reved up (idle increase), did not see the tachometer, and with my foot on the brake accelerated into the box truck in front of us. When it started to accelerate, I pushed the brake peddle to the floor to stop the Jeep but it did not do a thing. I see 2 problems her: 1. The acceleration when stopped 2. The brake did not hold. There were no injuries or damage to the box truck. We were able to drive the Jeep about 20 miles to the dealer we bought at. It is ow being worked on in the body shop. The Jeep dealer technicians did a computer check on any codes that were activated, but unfortunately all after the fact.

I have two open serious recalls on my Jeep Wrangler 4xe. There is a recall for the batter/charging system so I cannot plug it in to the charger I purchased for my home. I also have a continuing issue with my gas tank - it will not fill and the nozzel clicks off even though I have next to no gas in the tank. I can't charge the car, yet can't fill it with gas. I have brought it back to the dealership 3 or 4 times in the less than two years of owning the car. There is also a recall that effects the engine so I am scared to drive it on the highway. Basically I was tricked into leasing a $60,000 piece of absolute garbage. I can't get out of the lease early without having to -pay some type of penalty or losing money, which is really unfair. The company knows about these issues and took advantage of customers.
Subsequent to the 68c recall software update, my vehicle is suffering from intermittent loss of acceleration. Even with a full charge of battery, when driving the 2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe in ev mode, occasionally the car will shut of ev mode and transition to gas/hybrid mode. The problem is the vehicle changes from ev mode to gas/hybrid it can take 10 seconds. In the meantime there is no ability to accelerate. The pedal is dead. It occurred 4 times in random places. Once on a regular country road, once straining on a steep hill once merging with traffic on the highway the last time I drove it was when I lost acceleration while making a left hand turn on a busy intersection. It would have been a head on collision if the other driver hadn't slammed on their breaks. This was my last time with the vehicle and it has been sitting at the dealership since January. The dealership service department tells me stellantis is not working on a fix for this issue, even though it is a serious safety defect. Since then I have been pursuing lemon law however this process is taking forever. They refused to provide a loaner car. I was renting a vehicle but it was too costly. I ultimately had to buy another vehicle, even thought I spent $70,000 on a brand new Jeep that is sitting at a dealership. They claim no fault found. The dealership drove it a total of 10 miles in ev mode. No fault found. They are putting people in danger and making us qa test while they push out software updates that aren't tested in the real world. This vehicle is trying to kill me. It will either explode and burn down the house or cause a collision. They need to make this right. Please help.

Two issues. The first involves shaking and veering which continues since the purchase and this is the fourth time I have had concerns with this. Vehicle it shakes at any speed and violently if I dont let up off the gas. The second issue occured while driving on the 5 freeway with the speed control on and suddenly there was a loud boom thud sound behind the front seet like running over a tire or something, the vehicle began to slow I applie gas and noticed the panel radio etc all working but a message appeared to stop or pull over and park and restart; however when I looked down to see if was in gear and it was in d and blinking like it does in park assist. The screen also ramdomly swithche the view. Vehicle is currently in the dealership.

After the 68c / NHTSA 25v-741 recall was completed, the Jeep can be difficult to drive and will dangerously lose power or accelerate unexpectedly. When driving in electric mode it will suddenly lose power and often start the engine abruptly. I've nearly been rear ended when it lost power, but also almost crashed into the car in front of me when the engine started abruptly and gave full power unexpectedly. This is a new characteristic since the recall was completed. I spoke with the dealer assistant service manager, and he said that unless the vehicle is displaying an error or warning, that it is operating as stellantis has written the software for the recall. I spoke with stellantis and told them of the severe safety issue, and that I feel unsafe driving it. Since I've been told this defect is normal, I asked for a refund/return. They said "sorry" and can't help me and referred me to arbitration. This is a defective vehicle that has been rendered even further defective. Stellantis refuses to take any responsibility.
Hybrid mode, parking vehicle 2mph stopping/breaking. Vehicle lurches forward toward trees. I continue to apply breaks place into park and pull up break, while turning wheel to left doing circles to avoid collision w anything for approximately 30 feet. The hybrid mode seemed to go from electric to gas, which may have triggered the erratic jolt forward?.
The vehicle has experienced repeated unexpected stalling during normal operation. After a dealership visit and representation that recall-related work was complete, the vehicle stalled again within hours. There is an active recall related to this issue with no available remedy. Due to safety concerns, the vehicle is not being driven. The manufacturer has not provided clear guidance regarding repair or safe operation, and the vehicle has been effectively unusable for an extended period of over 60 days.
Under recall 78c, sand contaminated engine, I was advised by the manufacturer fca to contact the dealership immediately if there were any unusual sounds/movements while operating the vehicle. On January 10th, 2026, the vehicle is noted to be making a new clicking/vibration sound. I contacted the dealership milton ruben Chrysler Jeep Dodge ram in augusta GA who towed the vehicle to their location. Upon vehicle arrival, the sales manager ben at number [xxx] called this consumer and stated he did not want the vehicle and wasn't going to service it because they catch on fire, and that he will just place it on the back lot. So now I am without a safe vehicle to drive and this is a leased vehicle that is under manufacturer warranty. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Vehicle shut off while driving. Luckily we were in right lane and we just drifted into breakdown lane with no power steering or power braking. These cars are unsafe 2500-4000 lb missiles going down the roadway and the government is continuing to allow them on the roadway with serious life jeopardizing known defects. The dealers point at Jeep, Jeep points to dealers, both point to stelantis and it an endless run around. All we want is out of the lease and nobody will help. We can’t drive the car as it’s unsafe. Our dealer is trying to help and gave us a loaner car (of much less value) but we are paying a lease on a much higher cost car while driving a low value loaner, meanwhile stelantis just ignores the request to be let out of the lease without paying the full lease value on turn in. That’s over $13,000 if we turn it in now. Stelantis says work with your dealer. The dealer says we can’t do anything until they come out with a fix. We just want out of the lease. These cars are unsafe, by their own admission, and should not be on the roadways.
The vehicle poses a fire risk not allowing the vehicle to be parked under structures and the vehicle cannot be charged even though it is a plug-in hybrid vehicle. There is an active recall and this is not the first one. The fix for the recall is a software update that can shut off the high voltage battery if an issue is encountered which leaves the vehicle in limp mode, which is dangerous when traveling on the highway. If a new battery is required, the same faulty style batteries are exchanged. Stellantis is not addressing the car issues appropriately.

Lost all power to vehicle after driving for approximately 40 minutes, around 60-70 mph. I was driving on the highway and then lost all power. I was able to pull off of the interstate and got a few blinking messages. The only one I remember was "shift to p to start". I could not accelerate at all and probably had less than a minute to get to safety before the car coasted to a stop and I was forced to put the car in park and turn it back on. It seemed like a forced restart on a computer but you could not choose the time or place to do it and there was very little warning. This is a huge safety issue!.
Mpg not what window sticker claims. Window sticker claims 18 mpg city, 23mpg highway, 20 combined. Getting 13 combined.
I was driving my car when it powered down and had an unrecoverable loss of propulsion. It's a miracle I didn't crash and kill myself or anyone else on the road. This aligns with NHTSA recall number 25v-766. Jeep dealer identified the issue is failed transfer case assembly, then had to replace transfer case motor, then updated the software for the electric battery, but that software update is an ineffective remedy for the recall. I'm afraid to drive car because it might spontaneously catch fire or power down while driving again, which is terrifying because you lose all steering control. My car has been at the Jeep dealer in lynnfield, massachusetts since January 7, 2026. The Jeep dealer said they couldn't buy my Jeep from me because they can't certify it's safety due to open recall. I can't park car in my parking garage or anywhere in boston per recall notice. Bought Jeep Wrangler rubicon x 4xe brand new 1/20/24 for $76,500 and have $25,000 of equity/payments in it, but it has a note of $52,500 outstanding and due to recall issues the car is only worth maybe $32,500 but should be worth at least $60,000. I want manufacturer to buy my car back from me because it's under warranty and they can't fix the battery in a way that makes it safe to drive or even park near anything.
Vehicle started and put in reverse. After backing up approximately 15 ft, vehicle put into driver and once accelerator was pressed, vehicle stalled. Tried to restart, engines turned over but stalled again after 1 second. Waited 10 seconds and tried to restart again, stalled again 1 second after turnover. Turned vehicle completely off, opened door, waited 30 seconds, tried starting again and system attempted to stat for 5-10 seconds (push to start ignition so I had no control over how long it tried this), but engine would not turn over. Vehicle also could not be shifted out of park (turned vehicle off and tried to put in “on” position without ever depressing the brake). Vehicle now stuck in driveway and unable to be moved. Acting like an issue with the fuel pump, which is a recall that was announced for some vehicles of this make and model, but NHTSA check shows no open recalls on vehicle. No warning lights or check engine lights came on.

After a bad ota update in October, in November before the stop charge recall was issued I noticed on Nov 21, when in "electric" mode, after 10 or so minutes of driving the vehicle loses the ability to accelerate past half application of the accelerator. This lack of power continues until the accelerator is fully pushed on the floor forcing the gas engine on and causing immediate and dangerous acceleration. After this incident on the 11/21, I didn't charge again until I had the 68c recall performed where the dealer told me they think it's fixed. On my way home from the dealer it happened again. From here I emailed the dealer over the holiday and sent them videos of the problem. I opened a case with Jeep and brought it in. I was then told they replicated my issue but that it's normal now since all the updates. They refused to go for a quick ride along and closed my Jeep case with no resolution or help. This problem that did not exist before the ota update. I don't know if it's related to the ota update or related to the a7c recall, wither way I don't feel safe driving this with any amount of charge in it, even though the dealer gave an ok to charge. The dealer wants nothing to do with addressing this because I think they can't fix it since there is no cel or codes in the computer. I don't know what to do from here. You will find attached the email chain and see youtube addresses. I can share these directly if needed or produce much better ones. This is completely repeatable and consistent.

While driving at approximately 70 miles per hour, the vehicle experienced a sudden loss of power and felt as though the engine was going to shut off. This created an immediate safety hazard and forced me to pull over to the side of the road. Despite feeling unsafe, I continued driving directly to the dealership to have the vehicle inspected due to an engine warning light related to the fuel system. The vehicle has only been serviced and inspected by the dealership. I was informed that there is currently no available remedy for recall 78c. With the recall unresolved, the vehicle continues to pose a significant safety risk. The potential for engine failure while driving at highway speeds places me, my passengers, other motorists, and nearby property in danger. Due to these conditions, I do not feel the vehicle is safe to operate or park until the recall issue is properly resolved.
Glendale Dodge (CA) is actively using federal fire risk recall 68c to fraudulently conceal a separate, critical high-voltage hardware failure on my 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe. Upon intake, my vehicle’s internal vip diagnostic scan showed an active p0e15 code (electric coolant heater failure). Per stellantis technical service bulletins, this code indicates a severe failure requiring a physical hardware replacement to ensure the high-voltage system operates safely. To avoid performing this costly warranty repair, the dealership deliberately falsified the diagnosis on final invoice #31349. Under line c (customer states check engine light is on), the dealership officially recorded the cause and correction 'due to recall module updates and bad battery. ' this is an affirmatively false written diagnosis. A dead 12v battery and a recall software update do not cause, nor do they resolve, a p0e15 high-voltage electric coolant heater failure. The dealership lied on the legal invoice to scrub the hardware defect from the record. They then applied the 68c software patch as a smokescreen, falsified the 'date out' to 12/26/2025 to prematurely close the federal recall ticket, and attempted to return a vehicle that remains mechanically compromised and unsafe. This is intentional warranty fraud masking a high-voltage system failure. Stellantis and its authorized repair facility are refusing to properly remedy the vehicle. The vehicle is currently held at the dealership pending an active fraud investigation by the California bureau of automotive repair (case #6596-ws4pv6).
Having a hard time putting gas, I have to do it slowly so it can go in, the worst is when I put fuel a bit more fast it will throw gas out even if it ain't even close to half the tank.

There are currently 3 safety recalls; 2 with no remedies or repairs. Both recalls explain there is an imminent risk of safety. 1 recall has had no solution for over 60 days. I can’t use my vehicle as intended as it is recommended not to charge the battery.
On Thursday, December 18, 2025, while driving approximately 70 mph on us-30 in indiana, my vehicle suddenly displayed a warning indicating speed would be limited and that I needed to place the vehicle in park and restart it. At the time, I was traveling in the left lane with semi-trucks beside and behind me. The abrupt loss of speed and ability to accelerate created an immediately dangerous situation. Luckily, I was able to maneuver across traffic to the right shoulder. After placing the vehicle in park and attempting a restart, the vehicle did not recover as expected and could not be shifted out of park. I was stranded on the shoulder of a high-speed highway with heavy truck traffic. I have an open case with Jeep customer care and have made numerous calls. I have been routed between customer care, the recall team, and roadside assistance. The vehicle currently has multiple open recalls, including those for potential power loss due to software defects, engine contamination with debris that can cause failure, fire risk, or loss of drive power, and fire risks from the hybrid battery system. No representative can confirm whether these recalls are related to my failure, despite the symptoms (sudden speed limitation, failure to restart, and inability to shift out of park) closely matching descriptions in the power loss and engine failure recalls. On December 18th I was promised a case manager callback within one business day. That did not occur. I called again 12/22 and was routed to roadside assistance again, which cannot help me, and then to recall and I just received a supervisor callback from the recall department, and he provided no additional resolution. I have repeatedly requested escalation in all of my calls and have been continuously told there is no escalation. Not only is this a serious safety risk, but a complete failure by stellantis/Chrysler/Jeep to provide any resolutions to a very serious problem.
Multiple failed recalls to stop vehicle high voltage battery fires. I've already had the battery pack replaced once and now another recall of a software flash (68c) to test the battery cells separators for damage. So again the issue is still there and this is just another band-aid to catch it before it catches fire. This has been a ongoing issue for over a year and the issue is still not properly corrected. Multiple months of no charging, no parking in garage or near other vehicles/structures just to have another band-aid of a software flash, to stop the fire before it starts doesn't make me feel safe enough to put my family in this vehicle or to still want to charge or park anywhere near other vehicles or structures. This is the same process that "fixed" this issue the last time that obviously isn't a fix at all. The new battery they installed in 07/22/25 is just more of the same junk batteries without a proper fix.
I own a 2021 Jeep Wrangler rubicon 392 with the 6. 4l engine (VIN: [xxx] ). The vehicle has a dangerous condition where the engine stalls unexpectedly when the fuel level is approximately 1/4 tank or lower and the vehicle is traveling downhill. When the vehicle is positioned on a decline or downhill slope, the engine suddenly shuts off without warning. This appears to be fuel starvation on decline when the fuel level is below approximately 1/4 tank, resulting in engine stall and loss of power steering and braking assist after stall. This has occurred multiple times and creates a significant risk of crash due to the sudden loss of engine power and reduced steering and braking assistance while the vehicle is in motion. The issue is particularly concerning when descending hills or driving on angled terrain. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership (carvana Jeep san diego) where technicians determined the likely cause is a defective fuel pump module associated with the Wrangler rubicon 392 6. 4l fuel pump module. However, the dealership informed me the replacement fuel pump module is currently on national backorder from the manufacturer (stellantis/Jeep). They stated there is no confirmed availability date and that many vehicles may be waiting for the same component. My vehicle has been awaiting repair for approximately four months due to the unavailable fuel pump module. Because the vehicle can stall unexpectedly while traveling downhill, this defect presents an ongoing safety hazard and potential risk of crash. This complaint is being submitted so the issue can be evaluated as a potential safety defect involving fuel delivery failure, fuel pump module malfunction, and engine stall under low fuel conditions in the Jeep Wrangler rubicon 392. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
If the Jeep is not sagged to park in a garage, how can it be safe to drive on the road? the recalls are not being taken care of soon enough!.
My 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe has multiple major safety defects involving fire risk, loss of propulsion, and engine failure. The vehicle has been subject to four significant recalls, including: * NHTSA 24v720000 (recall 95b): high-voltage battery may fail internally and cause a fire while parked or driving. Owners are instructed to park outside away from structures and to avoid charging. * NHTSA 25v766000 (recall 78c): debris inside the engine may cause engine failure, loss of drive power, and engine compartment fire. * NHTSA 25v710000 (recall a7c): ota software error may cause sudden loss of drive power while operating the vehicle. These recall remedies are not yet available. The vehicle has become unsafe for normal use and puts my family at risk. I pursued a lemon law claim previously due to early severe issues, including charging/fire hazards, but the problems continue and are worsening. I am unable to safely drive, park, or charge the vehicle as designed. I am requesting NHTSA review due to the ongoing risks of fire, propulsion loss, and the lack of available repairs.
I have experienced at least five times in which my vehicle does not start and a "service charging system" error message shows on the dash resulting in the vehicle having to be towed to newport Jeep in middletown ri for service. Every recall that has been issue has been "fixed"- my hybrid battery has been replaced, my high voltage wire has been replaced. I tried to pursue a buyback request and was rejected in March 2025. I am aware of the 68c safety recall and that there is no repair at this time. Again on 12/9/25 my vehicle would not start, the "service charging system" error message was on the dash and my vehicle has had to be towed back to the dealership. They are not able to diagnose the issue. I want to pursue a buyback as this vehicle is defective and unsafe.
Vehicle experienced multiple simultaneous powertrain diagnostic trouble codes related to oxygen sensors and fuel controls, including O2 sensor heater circuit high voltage, O2 sensor circuit high voltage on multiple banks, rich fuel trim condition and manufacturer specific powertrain logic fault. Vehicle in stock, under warranty and driven only on city roads. No off-road use or physical damage present. Issue appears to be systemic rather than isolated sensor failure and may involve wiring harness routing, sensor heater control systems or pcm software logic. Symptoms include persistent check engine light and emission related faults that could lead to catalytic converter damage if left unresolved.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? yes gas leak engine oil leaks: timing cover gasket valve cover gasket with spark plug tube seals injector o-rings upper oil pan reseal leaking rear shocks (suspension issue affecting vehicle stability) upper oil pan replacement seal (additional engine oil sealing issue) collision sensor failing (forward collision warning / crash-prevention system) the vehicle is currently at a dealership and available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? the active fuel leak created immediate fire and fume inhalation hazards inside the passenger compartment, where occupants, including children, were seated. Fuel leak could have caused an engine fire. Engine leaks created risk of stalling or mechanical failure while driving. Leaking rear shocks affected vehicle stability and handling. The malfunctioning forward collision warning sensor impacted a crash-prevention safety system. These combined issues posed serious risk to vehicle occupants. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? confirmed Dec. 8 2025 , dealership never documented sensors added as “miscellaneous. ” has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? dealership #1 major repairs dealership #2 gasoline leak day after pick up.
"vehicle is subject to recall 68c (fire risk). Manufacturer states remedy is 'not yet available. ' I am instructed not to charge the battery and to park away from structures. I cannot safely park the vehicle at my home or use the electric propulsion I am paying for. The vehicle presents an immediate fire hazard while parked. ".
On 12/06/2025, I purchased a 2023 Jeep Wrangler 4xe from a Chrysler Jeep dealership in myrtle beach, SC. Recall 68c (NHTSA 25v741000) had been published on 11/05/2025 — one month prior to my purchase. The recall involves high voltage battery cells with separator damage that may cause a vehicle fire while parked or driving. A stop sale order was active on this VIN at the time of sale. I raised the recall and fire risk during the purchase. The salesperson responded that "a fire could happen in any car" and continued to minimize my wife's specific safety concerns through sustained pressure until we agreed to purchase. No documentation was provided showing the recall had been remedied prior to delivery. The recall remains open as of today. Third-party vehicle history data confirms stop sale: yes tied to 68c. We cannot charge the vehicle or use it as intended. We are unable to obtain timely service — the dealership reports months-long wait times with no loaner vehicle available. The vehicle has not been inspected or repaired for this defect. No warning lamps were present at purchase. The vehicle was available for sale and delivered to us despite the active stop sale designation. The safety risk is ongoing. We are parked away from structures per NHTSA guidance and have ceased charging the vehicle. This complaint is being filed as part of a formal legal record.
I received the recall of my leased vehicle and I immediately called Chrysler stelantis and was told that there was nothing they could do. This recall materially restricts the safe use of my leased vehicle. I request early termination of my lease without penalty or a replacement vehicle. I am a 100% disabled veteran and cannot comply with the recall’s conditions they stated that they will take back my lease but I will be penalized for the early termination and also for any recoupment of the vehicle when it goes to auction. This is unacceptable and has placed myself, my family,, my residence and other vehicles in danger. I cannot abide by the recall.
Vehicle: 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe manufacturer: stellantis / Jeep recalls involved: •high-voltage battery fire risk recall (park-outside / do-not-charge) •engine casting / sand contamination recall (recall 68c) — risk of sudden loss of propulsion and fire NHTSA case: if referencing dealer/Jeep case ? case #94839085 mileage: [insert mileage] VIN: [insert VIN] complaint description: my 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe is currently subject to two serious safety recalls: (1) a high-voltage battery recall requiring the vehicle to be parked outside and not charged due to fire risk, and (2) recall 68c involving engine casting/sand contamination that can lead to unrecoverable loss of propulsion, engine failure, and potential fire. Jeep has notified me that no repair is currently available for either recall and has provided no estimated timeline for a remedy. As a result, I have been advised not to drive or charge the vehicle. This has left me with a vehicle that is unsafe to operate, unsafe to store, and unusable for daily transportation. I contacted Jeep customer care and the dealership for assistance. Jeep has only offered a limited 30-day reimbursement-based rental that requires me to pay out–of–pocket and does not cover the full period during which my vehicle is unsafe and unrepairable. Jeep has not provided a loaner or replacement vehicle despite the indefinite loss of use. This situation raises serious concerns because: •the vehicle cannot be safely driven, •there is a real risk of engine failure or fire while driving, •there is a risk of battery fire even while parked, •a remedy is unknown and unavailable, •Jeep has not provided a safe, usable transportation solution. I am filing this complaint because I believe the severity of these defects, the lack of an available remedy, and the manufacturer’s inadequate interim support pose a significant safety risk to me, my family, and the public. I am requesting NHTSA to review this matter.
Multiple times when driving, at interstate speeds and highway speeds I have a full loss of power, requiring me to pull to the side of the road and power off the car and power it back on. Turtle mode gets activated not allowing me to go more than 5mph. Not safe at all especially when children are in the car. I have had the dealer look at this multiple times and they continue to say they have updated the system. I cannot imagine a software update will fix the vehicle intermittently losing power. I am a Jeep brand enthusiast but stellantis missed the boat on this car. They have created an unsafe, unreliable vehicle that is putting my family at risk every time I drive it. Last night I was offered $100 because the ev component shouldn’t be used now, I can’t park it inside, and can’t charge it. It really is almost bait and switch that I bought a vehicle that is not able to be used in the manner it was sold to me for.
Our vehicle has been. Undriveable since recall 68c/25v-741 and has been at the Jeep dealer (friendship Jeep Chrysler in forest city nc) since 1/5/2026 with no guidance as to when to expect a fix and return to us. Between car payments, insurance payments, and accelerated depreciation we have lost thousands of dollars and we are not able to use the vehicle.
