Driving my Jeep on [xxx] and while attempting to turn at a busy intersection in colonia, NJ the Jeep stopped while flashing the check engine light and put in park message. Both kids were in the Jeep which needless to say made the situation even more dangerous. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Jeep lunched an ota update on Friday October 10, 2025 in the afternoon (los angeles time area). I did the update when I came home and the next day when I started driving the car it abruptly stopped, signals were blinking including the engine system one and it was stating that I was experiencing an electric issue. It was also asking me to put the car in parking mode and I needed to shut off and restart the car to gain power again but it was stopping really quickly after again. I also have videos that I could not upload here if necessary to show exaclty what is happening.
My car stalled 16 times on [xxx] due to unknown issues. The first time happened on [xxx] . Then multiple times driving from the first location to my residence in east quogue and then to the dealer. The car would be in drive and suddenly stall, saying there was an issue with the hybrid motor. It also had multiple engine errors pop up. The car is only 15 months old. The idea that it would stall on a highway is very dangerous. I had to pull over, put the car in park, and sometimes it would power on. Otherwise it would take two to three attempts to start the car to continue driving. It was an extremely hazardous situation. It looks to be a software update error on behalf of stellantis. This is really scary and unacceptable. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Jeep pushed a uconnect update on 10/10/2025 which I installed, caused my vehicle to shut off completely during driving on a main road shortly after leaving my home. All engine and dash lights came on, coult not take the vehicle out of drive. The shifter was stuck. I turned the vehicle off then moved shifter back to park and started it again. It continued to do this every few feet. This is extremely dangerous and could cause major accidents to happen.
I was driving my 2025 4xe Wrangler to work and throttle shut off on me and I wasn’t able to move. Stuck in the middle of busy traffic and stranded. I had to call a tow truck to take it to the dealership.

After an update on 10/10/2025 when arriving home, the next morning 10/11/2025 while driving the check engine light came on and I lost all power less than a mile from home. I turned off the Jeep, turned it back on and proceeded to try and drive to the next drive way to turn around and go home. In under a half mile, I lost power again (at 55mph). Got it restarted and turned into the drive way to turn around. When turning left out of the driveway, I lost power a third time and my Jeep would not restart. I was across two lanes of traffic and we needed to push the Jeep back into the driveway, but the auto brake kept engaging. Had Jeep towed to a dealership.
Performed uconnext update last night and this morning car completely lost power on the highway. Power steering also did not work and unable to provide gas to car to accelerate. Dead stopped on highway. Dealership then tells me it is “safe to drive but will continue stalling out”.
The Jeep stop while driving reduced speed, the dashboard said shift to p and that it was not safe to drive due to performance. The check engine light is on and will not turn off, the Jeep will not drive in electric mode. Also there was an update with uconnect.
Updated vehicle last night via u-connect, vehicle died today while driving, lost all power. Check engine light on, hundreds of posts via social media with the same problem.
While driving, a warning suddenly appeared stating “electronic stability control failure. ” immediately afterward, the vehicle stopped accelerating and automatically shifted from run to acc mode with no throttle response or acceleration control. Traffic was moderate, and when the vehicle abruptly lost propulsion, several cars behind me had to brake hard and nearly collided with my vehicle. I was able to coast and pull off the roadway safely, but it was a dangerous situation that could easily have caused an accident. This failure occurred without warning, and the vehicle has a history of prior powertrain and driver-assistance system issues, including repeated “four wheel drive service” and “electric power steering fail” warnings earlier in 2025. The most recent event on October 11, 2025, was the most severe and created a serious safety hazard. Vehicle: 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe mileage: approximately 10,000 miles condition: leased, well maintained, all service performed at authorized Jeep dealership.
Vehicle suddenly shuts off while driving. Many other Wrangler owners (especially of 2024 models) are reporting same issue and saying it is due to recent uconnect update. My issue also started after this update this past week. Has happened twice since the update on 10/10/2025. Very serious safety issue that can cause crashes from behind.
I was driving my car and came to a near stop. When I attempted to drive the car again the vehicle displayed a message to shift to park and then restart the vehicle. I did that and was able to drive another 30 miles home. The next day, I drove the car 20 miles to get an oil change. When I drove a mile away from the oil change location the car displayed a shift to park and restart message again. After that, I was able to drive the car 20 miles home. About an hour later, I drove 1/2 mile up the road and the car again displayed a shift to park message and restart as I was driving up to 50 mph on the highway. I was able to get the car home, but the message displayed again twice. The car shuts off if you do not follow the instructions so as I was driving up to 50 mph the car lost power creating a very dangerous driving scenario.
While driving the vehicle “shuts down “ and you can only coast and try to find somewhere to pull over. I had to avoid highways so that I had a place to pull over. Extremely dangerous.
Following a software update on 10/10/25, our vehicle can no longer be driven safely. Repeatedly loses power, power steering, etc. This issue is impacting thousands of Jeep owners nationwide. Please investigate and help resolve before people lose lives.
There was an over the air updated to something in the vehicle and now hybrid battery range is much lower. Also, have seen multiple complaints that the vehicle will not turn on or stalls while driving creating dangerous conditions on the road while driving. I have not attempted to drive on the road after seeing other complaints concerning this update. Vehicle was perfectly fine before update. This is completely unacceptable, essentially using drivers as test dummys for untested and unproven software updates.
As I was driving on the local road, the speed dropped to 0 mph and could not accelerate. The Jeep shuts down in the middle of road. Put it back in the park mode, restart, all lights including engine lights were on. Drove another 100 ft and stop again and repeat the whole process. I was luckily within 2 miles of my home and was able to drag this back to home in 20 minutes with 5-7 stops. The other cars were honking and flashing as I keep stopping every 200 ft with no warning. Not sure if this is software issue as a lot of people are posting on facebook and other Jeep forums of having same problem between Friday 10/10/2025 and now. I towed the car back to the dealership on 10/13/25 and have no vehicle to drive for now.
Car lit up while driving with multiple warnings, check traction control, check charging system, etc. Wouldn’t power off or drive or go into neutral. Had to tow. Stranded in dangerous area with no warning.
While driving at any rate of speed the vehicle would take over, shutting down driver control with a message on the dashboard saying to put vehicle in park. After pulling over to shut vehicle off, I would turn it back on, and was allowed to drive until this occurred again. A message would come up to service hybrid system.
Jeep pushed out an over-the-air update to uconnect on 10/10/25, which I installed. After installing the update, my car completely shut off in the middle of an intersection. I could have been killed. I restarted the cr, and it continued to do this every few minutes all the way home. I tried to call Jeep and they said they could not help me because the update came from stellantis. It was well documented and numerous other folks seem to be impacted [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
My vehicle prompted me to update my uconnect software around 540pm last night as I went tminto class. Upon leaving class around 845pm, I expierenced a complete loss of power, many dash indicator lights came on, and the vehicle message appeared indicating the vehicle needed to be put into park. This all occurred while driving at about 40mph. I have never had any issues with the vehicle before this.
Update happened to uconnect on October 10th. The vehicle now shuts off every 1/2 mile. When this happens all power is lost and vehicle states to put bricked in park.
While driving the car just shit off. . Put it in park put my hazzards on and started the car back up. Put it to the test again while backing out of the driveway and it shut off while I’m reverse. The stereo has been glitching for about a couple of month where it constantly has to reboot while driving. It has now caused the issues for the whole car to just die while in motion. . This is I huge safety issue especially with younger kids. If I was on the highway when this would have happened who knows how much more fatal this could have been. I do a ton of highway driving and that’s all we have used the car for and for drive around our small town. I fear that even taking it to the dealership to get it fixed I am not sure I am comfortable in its after features it has. .
Driving on highway at 70 mph and I lose all power. Message says to shift to park. Jeep will not accelerate when gas pedal is pressed. Had to come to a complete stop, shift to park and luckily it drove for a few more miles to get me off the highway before getting killed. Multiple dash lights came on including check engine.
We’ve experienced multiple ongoing issues with this vehicle, and the dealership’s only suggestion so far has been to file a lemon law claim. Last month, the car began jerking excessively while driving typically at speeds between 35–45 mph. The best way to describe it is that it feels as though all the wheels lock up at once, causing a loud tire-screeching noise. It was a frightening experience. The dealership claimed to have resolved the issue with a “software update. ” however, just last night, my wife was stranded on the highway when the car suddenly started shutting down mid-drive, similar to what happens when a vehicle runs out of gas. The maximum speed she could reach was about 20 mph, and the check engine light came on. She switched from hybrid mode to esave (gas-only mode), which allowed her to get home safely. This morning, she tested it again. The check engine light was initially off, but after a short drive, it came back on and the vehicle started shutting down again. This Jeep is a lease, and despite being in the shop five times three of those for a full week the dealership continues to “service” it without providing a real solution. We are extremely concerned about the vehicle’s safety and reliability at this point.
I performed an over-the-air update on the car. When we got in to drive it about 10 minutes later, after driving for about 30 seconds, the car completely died. All the gages went haywire, it said traction control system needed service, the check engine light came on, and to shift to park to continue. Once shifted into park, the gear selected would lock. This happened while in the middle of the road and could have easily caused an accident. When you turned the car off, and back on, it would do the same thing again after about 30 seconds. This happened 3 times until I called stallantis service and waited for a tow truck. The car has been at the dealer since Friday night. They called me Saturday to tell me that there were no hybrid technicians on staff and I’d have to wait until Monday for more information.
Jeep pushed out an ota update for their uconnect system. Upon completion of this update, that occurred while I was driving, I lost control of my vehicle. My steering wheel locked up, all of the lights on my dashboard started flashing, and I was instructed to pull the Jeep over. I was unable to operate the vehicle and had to be towed.
After completing an update on the vehicle, I tried driving home and the vehicle started jerking and stopped accelerating in the middle of the road, luckily no cars close behind me but it could have ended badly.
Immediately after updating the uconnect software in my parking lot, I drove away and my Jeep lost power while driving. Engine shut off and said "shift to p to start. " had to shift to park and restart just to get moving again. Was barely able to get it to the dealership right afterwards and then it happened again while in motion. Happened again and again in the dealership parking lot.
Vehicle suddenly dropped in speed. Only able to go about 10 mph. Cel and received electronic stability control error. Was able to get car home and cel message eventually off. Drove it again but found that it would shut down about every 10 miles. Would have to stop the car, shut it off, then could drive it another 10 miles. And the cel did come back on.
In early October 2025 (specifically around October 10), Jeep/stellantis pushed an over-the-air (ota) software update via uconnect to 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe models. This update, intended for system improvements or recalls (e. G. , related to hybrid battery management or telematics), instead caused widespread failures in the vehicle's computer systems, particularly the telematics control module (tcm) and powertrain control module (pcm). After the update I experienced the following. - sudden loss of motive power while driving (e. G. , the vehicle shutting off mid-drive, refusing to accelerate, or entering limp mode). - check engine light (cel) illumination. - inability to shift gears or recognize transmission states, rendering the vehicle undrivable. - vehicle stalling multiple times in short distances, leading to to the need for a tow. In my instance I was on a two lane road with no shoulder and no way to drive my vehicle. I was able to move to a parking lot and wait for a tow.
On 10/10/25, an uconnect update appeared on info center console. I pressed the update now button and went into a store. After re-entering my vehicle, I drove one block and a message appeared on the dash that stated ‘service charging system’. At the same time as this message appeared while driving, the car abruptly shut down in traffic, nearly causing a collision with a vehicle behind me. After trying to restart for about 25 minutes, the car restarted and I was able to drive to my destination. On the morning of 10/11/25, I started to drive the vehicle to the mechanic. After about a minute of driving, the check engine light came on. Then about 2 minutes later, the vehicle abruptly shut down while driving, again nearly causing another collision. A message displayed to shift in park and restart. I followed these directions as I also made a call to the dealership to advise of this issue. The vehicle restarted and I was able to drive for another minute and vehicle shut down again while on the phone with the dealership. On the way to the mechanic, this issue happened several times more. Steering was also lost during this issue. Many complaints online are of this issue. Mechanic pulled codes as well.
Pulling into parking spot and lightly touched accelerator and Jeep launched over the curb and slammed into a metal door and concrete wall. Unexplainable reason for sudden acceleration and unable to break in time. Called dealership but they have had no other complaints. No vehicle has not been inspected damage is cosmetic. No system warning before it happened.
While pulling into parking lot Jeep suddenly accelerated deployed brakes it would not stop. Hit pillar in front of store. Did considerable damage to build and vehicle.

Jeep Wrangler jk abs module issue: history, stellantis response, and safety concerns background: the discontinued abs module problem Jeep Wrangler owners (particularly Wrangler jk models from 2011–2018) have been plagued by failures of the anti-lock brake system (abs) control module – a critical component that controls the vehicle’s anti-lock brakes and stability control. The problematic part is commonly referenced by mopar part number 68259556 (with revisions aa, ab, ac, ad, ae for 2014–2018 Wranglers). In recent years, this abs module was discontinued by the manufacturer and put on indefinite backorder, leaving owners unable to obtain a replacement when the unit fails. The issue isn’t isolated to just one part number or model – similar abs module shortages and failures have been reported in other stellantis vehicles (including later Wrangler jls and even ram trucks) as well. Stellantis (the parent company of Jeep, formerly fca) has not provided new stock of the module for an extended period, creating a nationwide shortage that has frustrated many customers and raised serious safety concerns. Timeline of the issue and part history owners and mechanics first began noticing abs module availability problems around 2021–2022, coinciding with supply-chain disruptions and corporate changes. Mopar initially listed the Wrangler jk abs module as on backorder, with projected availability dates that kept slipping (one oem parts source in early 2022 noted the part was backordered with no firm eta). By 2023, the situation worsened: dealerships reported that no new units were being produced at all, effectively discontinuing the part without warning. Supplier fallout: according to insider reports on Jeep forums, the shortage stemmed from a supplier issue – the original abs module supplier for Jeep/fca stopped production (allegedly after stellantis attempted to cut costs), and it took the company over half a year to find a new supplier. Some reports claim stellantis “tried to.
