Bought car used in November of 2020 from a used car lot made note of airbag light on and no horn they said they will scan it and they did said it was the clock spring and they were gonna order one. Never got it about a month later called local kia dealership they said my car does not have a recall for airbags and did not fix it when I had them look at it. Very serious issue and can be deadly as I have no horn or airbag to protect me if I get into an accident.

2007 kia Rio has an airbag light on all the time, with a code specifying the passenger seat mat sensor. When clearing the code for the airbag, the code is rethrown after about 10 seconds. Nhtsa recall #12v244000 applied to certain models of the 2005-2007 model era, but didn't include all of them, as the vehicle has no open seat mat recall and none had been repaired in the past. Evidently the issue is more widespread than the initial recall. The light stays on all the time.

The car a 2013 why is my air bag light on? the car been service at kia casey dealership, the service invoice recommended replacing the air bag clockspring already the car 6 years old.
Air bag light is continuously turning on and off as I am driving.
Air bag light randomly came on. It will periodically come off, but it always comes back on. This is not only extremely frustrating, but also extremely dangerous. It is a shame that kia is yet to address this issue. I have taken my car to several mechanics and none of them can figure out what the issue is.
About 3 mths ago started using oil 3 qts extra the went to a qt a week, now using a quart every other day, have had people check. Cant find out where oil is going, have parked it, also, airbag light came on about 4mths ago, kia Rio has 114,000. The caliber froze up at 88,000 the brake pads kept wearing on left side, now the right starting to wearing more. . . I have the gold autoguard warranty up to 120,000 with hendrick Chevrolet, took it in on appt. Day n time, had 30 cars ahead. I have also learned. Carfax on cars are not true, this car was noted with no damage or wrecks, but I have seen on left side of car, marks of junk yard parts, even on back window. Reason for parking car bc its costing to much for oil, also my grandbaby is always with me in this 2012 kia Rio, this car isnt worth her life, no car is. . . Oh on carfax it state's its an ex then on second page it state's a lx, which understand mite be type error but when it state's no damage or wreck, thats a big error. Never got check oil light not one time, new it wnor a check engine light, only light was and is the airbag light.

Airbag light randomly started coming on and then turning off while driving. Now it stays on for long periods of time. No accidents or reason for this to happen. Mechanic says it will cost a lot to try to figure out what wrong and kia should recall as this is an issue with the car. I am concerned that if there ever is an accident the airbag won't work, and that is extremely dangerous.
I just recent had the battery put in my car. An now the air bag light stays on for the driver on that dash board. An don't know why it's on. The car has been driven in the past few months. So we are scared to be out on the road an it doesn't protect us if we get into an accident an someone gets killed.

My airbag light came on then went off, it stays on now. Kia tells me the clock spring shorted out. No idea why! they tell me I need a new airbag and clock spring. Drivers side. The code is b134600. The price $1037. 47 + tax !! that's 2 hours labor. They told me it won't pass inspection without being fixed. Help-not sure what to do. I was driving when the light came on.
"takata recall" car air bag light on and will not go out.
The airbag light never goes off.
Airbag light stays on, car has little over 87,000 miles strictly dealer maintenance no rhyme or reason to explain the light. No accidents no liquiud spills on any seats dealer stated cost could be up to $2000. 00 depending on what the $245. 00 diagnostic snows. I can not u understand how a safety feature uus not covered for much longer. Hell my catalytic converter gas a longer warranty. My dealer tells me they are seeing more and more kka vehicles coming in with similar problems with almost exact years and mileage. That tells me there is a issue. Kia needs to step up and address this safety issue. I have 2 other cars that are older and never bad a airbag lightg on. My 02 avalanche has 237,000 miles on it. Never a issue. My 99 chevy express van 347,000 miles on it zero airbag lights ever! why does a 5 year old car with 87,000 miles have it? government needs to issue a safety recall before someone is injured or dies due to cheap parts being used.
The airbag light started out by it would flash on every so offten then it would come on and go off when id turn my car. Then it came on and stayed for a couple days now it just stays on . I was told the it would cost me alot to just have the system checked out by kia . And that if im to ever have a accident my airbags wont work. I feel that kia is at fault and my car should be recalled.
The contact owns a 2013 kia Rio. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator remained illuminated when the vehicle was started. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (dch kia in temecula, California) where it was diagnosed that the coil in the steering wheel needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that the failure was not covered by the warranty. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure recurred and was not repaired. The failure mileage was 85,000.
I bought this car new 13jul2012, and have had no serious problems. About one month ago the mileage reached 60,000 which ended the bumper to bumper warranty. About two weeks ago at mileage of about 60,600 while driving the air bag light came on, then a few moments later it went off, then on again and off again, and etc. I emailed my kia dealer about the problem, and they replied that since the btob warranty had expired I would be completely responsible for the costs of correcting the problem. This seems very unfair to me as the car just exceeded the 60,000 warranty mileage by about 1% (600 miles). At a maximum charging me 1% of the total repair costs seems fair.
The contact owns a 2013 kia Rio. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer for diagnostic testing, which produced a failure code at the air bag sensor located in the steering wheel area. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 72,000.
I can not believe I took this much time to actual file a complaint on the following problems on my kia. My 2012 kia Rio sx hatchback has been burning oil since it reached the 70,000 mile mark. I have all receipts and records for every oil change since I bought the car new back in late 2011. Oil has been changed every 3,000/4,000 miles on this vehicle. No leaks have been found by my local valvoline shop and it continues to burn oil now at its current odometer reading of 113,000 miles. The oil level now reaches the last dotted line on the oil metal reader stick (low mark) every 300 to 400 miles. I have to add oil 8 to 10 times between oil changes. No oil light has ever turned on. My driver airbag light has turned on and have no idea why. It first turned on June of 2018 and it has not turn off since then. The vehicle has not been involved in any accidents at all since I bought new.

I have a 2006 kia Rio . The occupant airbag light is on again. This was fix long time ago. This needs to be repaired again . Does kia still honer there federal regulations and fix my car? knade123166034225 gerald allen 37426 melrose dr. Cathedral city. Ca 92234 818-681-4427.
I was sitting in a parking lot with a friend, when I noticed that my air bag indicator had come on. As I drove away to come ask my father what it meant, the passenger air bag light would repeatedly flash on and off, with her sitting straight in the seat like a normal person. Ever since than the air bag indicator has stayed on and won't go off. As well at the flashing passenger air bag light. I had went online to check for any recalls and it had stated that 2006-2008 had a recall on "air bag cracking". We read up on it and it is the same thing that is wrong with my car. And I'm not the only one that has this problem. Please make it known to kia that this problem is still ongoing in 2009 models. This should be considered under recall so no further accidents will occur.
2008 kia Rio. Consumer writes in regards to passenger front seat airbag warning system problems. The consumer experienced repeated problems with the air bag light illuminating while his wife was sitting in the front passenger seat. The air bag light indicated the air bag was off. There were other times when the light indicated it was on. The dealer stated the passenger was too light, as they were unable to find a problem.
My airbag light will not go off.
I have only had this problem with my car after the airbag was repaired after the recall in 2012. The passenger airbag light stays on even when someone is sitting in the seat. My boyfriend and I are the only ones that ever sit on the passenger side and both weigh more then the necessary weight. The car was taken in twice because the first time I took the car in they could not replicate the problem. The next day the airbags malfunctioned again. I took the car back in the following week and this time they kept it for the week and were able to get the light to stay on. They now claim that they need to replace the bottom half of the seat and it will cost almost $800. I feel that another recall is needed.
The airbag light illuminated & will not go off. After having a diagnostics run on it I was told I had to replace OCS mat sensor. You can't buy just the sensor, you have to buy the seat which contains the sensor for $800. When I called kia $ questioned the recall, I was told my VIN did not qualify. Funny how I see so many complaints that read just like mine about a 2008 kia Rio. I think the recall should extend further to protect the consumer from being ripped off.
Nothing has happened yet but my airbag light is on. Garage says it's a dealer issue, however I am unable to pay for it nor should I.
The red air bag light is on. A sensor in the passenger seat is malfunctioning. There is a recall for 2006 to 2008 kia Rios for this same fatigue failure on the air bag sensor, but my VIN is not included. The general fix is to replace the entire seat costing approximately 1500 or more.
My airbag light came on for no reason. Did not have any sort of accident. Had it looked at by mechanic. Mechanic stated the crash sensor wad bad. Kia part only. Called kia they said it would cost around $487. 00to replace it. As a safety feature , they should replace it free. Now my airbags won't deploy in an accident. I'll never buy a kia again. They need to fix the crappy safety parts they use for free. As a paramedic, airbags save lives. They need to fix this issue free. I have found numerous complaints about this same issue online.
The contact owns a 2006 kia Rio. The contact stated that the sensor for the passenger side air bag was replaced twice. The contact stated the air bag light illuminated again and the dealer advised him that the entire aig bag sensor system would have to be replaced. The VIN was not available. The failure and the current mileages were 62,990.
Just after the warranty expired at 61, 230 miles we had to replace the front passenger side seat cushion because the air bag light came on and kia would not cover it under their recall. Kia's safety recall campaign number is sc097.
Having approximately 89,000 miles on my 2006 kia Rio 5, the air bag light recently came on and would not go off. I took my car to the dealership as directed by the car's owner's manual and I was told that even though I had the 100,000 mile warranty on the car, due to the mileage that the basic coverage had expired and therefore doing the diagnostic and any repairs would not be covered. The diagnostic cost me $44. 00 and they wanted $1,100 to replace the seat pad on the passenger side which they said is what was causing the light to stay on and if I did not replace the pad and I was involved in an accident the air bag on the passenger side would not deploy. I cannot afford this costly repair. I bought this car because I liked several features, its style - that it is a hatchback, the 100,000 mile warranty, the price, the handling and the smooth ride. Now 5 years later look what that 100,000 mile warranty is doing for me.
2006 Rio passenger side safety airbag sensor is defective. Mine was replaced under warranty twice and now it is out for a third time. They want $871 to fix it. If you search on the internet thousands of people are experiencing the exact same thing. Airbag light comes on, kia says it is a defective sensor in the passenger seat. The passenger airbag will not work with this issue and you cannot sell or inspect vehicle.
The dashboard airbag light came on approximately 1 year ago, and when I contacted the kia dealership where I purchased the vehicle they advised me that they would have to charge me to search for the cause of the problem. . . I heard of a recall on the kia Rio airbags on NHTSA and I called kia to ask to bring my vehicle in so the problem could be fixed and the service department told me that they are unaware of any such problems with that vehicle and would not allow me to bring the vehicle in unless I paid to have it looked at!!!.
