Air Bag Problems of Kia Motor RIO - part 2

On September 16, 2016 at approximately  9:12pm, I marilyn clemons , had just picked up a passenger was involved in a car accident . Where as I was rear ended while at a complete stop at a signal light at the intersection of southwestern and mockingbird with the passenger in the car. There was a police report filed the number is 223773/2016 the airbag did not deplore . . . . .

I was driving in the rain, going about 55-60 mph, when all of a sudden the car in front of me slammed on its brakes and attempted to make a left turn (like they almost missed the street and tried to compensate last minute) I slammed on the breaks but could not stop in time and hit the car in front of me. The seatbelt didn't catch, nor did the airbag deploy, and my head hit the steering wheel, chin first.

The contact owned a 2007 kia Rio. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 70 mph, he fell asleep and the vehicle flipped over three times. None of the frontal air bags deployed. A police report was filed and there were no injuries reported. The vehicle was towed by the police department. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 107,000.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times but the technicians were unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not offer any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 5,000 and the current mileage was 15,000.

Rio slid terrible after trying to go around a stopped vehicle and the steering was loose and when we hit the trailer on the side the air bag on drivers side did not deploy and the passenger bag busted passengers sternum and a sharp medal piece appears to be in her leg as some were removed. In addition, the seat belt would not come l unhooked as she was pinned tight iin the car. A truck driver who I stopped before he hit us by runnning down the road had to cut the seat belt as passenger in shock. Horrible crappy hanlding and skid was unacceptable as it did not slow down.

I did not have an accident or anything to that nature. We bought our daughter a 2013 kia Rio. I was sitting in the passenger seat and noticed that the passenger seat is much lower than to drivers seat. I realized god forbid if the airbag goes off, the person will be hit in the face instead of the chest. Im not sure if you can help me, but is this a defect in the car. I found it odd. My 20 year old brother was on his way home and lost control on black ice trying to avoid a dog. He began to swerve and spun out, resulting in a single flip into a ditch. The front end of my vehicle is completely destroyed and believed to be totaled. The car landed on the passenger side head-first in the ditch. Not a single airbag deployed. I bought this vehicle for it's safety features considering the weather where I live. If I had taken my 5 month old daughter to town (which I was planning to do after my brother returned home), I honestly believe she wouldn't have survived if I had been in a similar situation to my brother's. I have owned the car for a few months and it had less than 10,000 miles when I bought it.

Truck stopped at stop sign raining at the time 1304 pm got on brakes to slow down and stop and rain wet roads made the car slide into the trailer hitch of the tall 4x4 truck air bags did not go off on the Rio car hit center on the front bumper over $3,000. 00 in damage to car done to truck and no bags set off seems like a big things if the bags did not get set off.

I was driving to work and a car came out of a gas station, crossed two lanes of traffic and hit my car in the left front corner causing it to roll over.

I have two 2006 kia Rios both at approx. 65000 miles developed and air bag problem. I took them to the dealer and paid 105 dollars each for a diagnostic they tell me it is the passenger seat on both cars and want 600 dollars to replace the seats. Since there have been very few people sit in my passenger seats it seems to me this is a design issue. I have noted on the internet that it seems to be quite a problem for both the 2006 and 2007 model kia Rio's. I also have met two other people who had the same problem between 60 and 70 thousand miles.

On Wednesday June 10, 2009 I was in a head on accident. The front end of my 2007 kia Rio sx was hit. My car was equipped with 3 air bags. None of the air bags deployed. Car was a total loss.

I was driving my kia Rio. I knew there was a stop approaching. I hit the brakes, the brakes went all the way to the floor and when I tried to turn away from traffic the steering wheel would not move. I hit a yukon and totaled my car. The airbags never came out.

The contact owns a 2007 kia Rio. While driving 50 mph, the contact applied the brakes many times, but the vehicle would not stop. Finally, the brakes locked up and the contact rear ended the preceding vehicle. The front end of his vehicle sustained over $5,000 in damages. None of the air bags deployed and the front passenger seat belt did not work. The front passenger was injured. A police report was filed. The contact has pictures available. The VIN was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 13,000.

The kia Rio was stopped behind a minivan when it was hit from behind by another minivan travelling approximately 30 mph before braking. The kia Rio was pushed into the minivan in front. The Rio was not severely damaged, however, both airbags deployed. Damage was to the rear trunk lid and the front right rail was slightly . Compromised. No lights were broken, nor was the bumper even cracked. Both the insurance adjuster and the body shop were surprised the airbags went off based on the damage (or overall lack thereof) to the vehicle. The airbag deployment broke other pieces of and inside of the dash as well, causing over 2/3 of the cost of repair (total cost was around $7000). Pictures of the damage to the vehicle are available.

Problems with vehicle's engine. When the consumer attempted to accelerate from slowing down, the vehicle jerked into gear. The dealer could not find anything wrong with the vehicle after several visits. Many people have experienced this same problem per dealer. The front end made noises, and the vehicle had been taken to the dealer on five occasions for the air bag.

Neither airbag deployed in my accident.

The vehicle was involved in a head on collision yet none the vehicles airbags deployed.

While driving at 65 mph had an accident hitting a deer. And neither air bag deployed, nor seat belts hold the passenger in the seat. Dealer and manufacturer has been notified. Please provide further information:: mr.

While driving, the consumer experienced an accident where the air bags deployed. The dealer has been contacted. Mr scc.

Srs light/overdrive light and engine check light will flash intermittently while vehicle is in motion. Dealer has replaced clock spring, however, srs problem has reoccurred.

Consumer's vehicle was involved in a hit and run. Consumer lost control of vehicle, hit a guardrail, and slammed into a hill. None of the airbags deployed. Driver sustained neck and chest injuries. Driver was wearing seatbelt.
