The car has been burning an excessive amount of oil and smokes very badly when first started for over almost 2 years. The check engine light started coming on recently and car runs rough and shuts off. I took it to my service repair shop and was told that it's an internal problem in the engine and he checked and said kia had a recall on Sedona for internal engine issues. I checked and can't find the recall that the repair shop found. My car has been down for two weeks and I am still making payments on a vehicle that has been well maintained by keeps shutting off and idling rough when being driven.

Excessive oil consumption.
My vehicle has approximately 68k miles on it, and began leaking oil within the past month (and displaying the low pressure error light). The leaks themselves varied between small drips to significant amounts left in parking lots. It got to the point where I was unable to even run the heater for extended periods of time due to the fumes entering the cabin from the burning oil. With 3 kids until 12yrs, it was very unsafe. Upon bringing it in for service, I was advised that not only the oil pan gasket needed to be replaced, but the rear main seal as well. This is alarming since the rear main typically does not need to be addressed until the vehicle is over/near 100k miles. Thankfully, my warranty is covering the repairs, as this could have cost me over $1k to replace (due to the transmission needing to be removed to get to the seal).

2004 kia sorento leaks oil. Four times in for service, latest time January 5, 2005. Twice dealer replaced oil plug gasket. Last time in dealer service dept says problem is caused by defective designed oil filters. Dealer goes on to say kia aware of problem and going to redesign oil filter. Dealer does not know when new filter is going to be available. In mean time my 2004 sorento continues to leak oil. Fumes from oil burning on hot engine causing me headaches and nausea. Don't believe dealer explanation. Used to have a 2003 sorento which kia replaced because of major engine problems. Now the replacement vehicle (2004 sorento) has oil leaking problems that are unresolved by dealer. Going to take in again because fumes so strong it makes it undriveable except as a last resort. Believe engine in 2003 sorento is same type engine in 2004 sorento. Oil leaking in the 2003 wasn't an issue. Only in this sorento 2004.
