While driving, the battery light came on and the engine began to run hot. The cooling system rocketed to high after the battery light illuminated. The engine went dead in the middle of the freeway. The car was towed to a dealership. The dealer informed the consumer they would not be able to check the vehicle until after July 11th. The consumer did not know what exactly the dealerships diagnosis was because they have yet to check vehicle. Consumer suspected this was a cooling system issue with battery problems as well.

2 Battery problem of the 1999 Kia Motor Sephia

The car died while driving down the road repeatedly. Battery leaked. Brakes had to be replaced for the entire car at 60,000 miles. The vents on the dashboard have popped up and broken. Now the defroster does not blow the air on the windshield. This vehicle was stored in a garage. The seams on the seat come undone. The cigarette lighter broke and flops in the dash. The switch to override the transmission lock is broken. The rear brake light broke when replacing the struts which you have to remove the back dash to get to. The board that is under the carpet in the trunk warped. The carpets came up from the sides of the car. The storage bin in the center console broke, twice. The wind shield chips and errodes when in a car wash. I have never seen a windshield in this bad shape before. The back seat does not stay down. The headlights have a bad seal and there is water now in them. The rubber around the doors comes out repeatedly. Gear shifter is continually stuck. Brakes take twice as long to stop my car as any other vehicle I have ever driven. I have to drive 2 & 1/2 hours to get repairs. The gas milage is closer to 24 mpg then the 35 that was marked on it when I bought it. There are noises from the engine compartment that are loud and unpleasant. There is a ground fault wire that is bad they want $75 an hour minimum of 10 hours to repair it. The fuse panel cover broke. The headlights cannot be alligned.

Nothing but problems since purchase. Windshield separated from frame, molding fell off 4 times during first 4 months of purchase alternator replaced twice. Battery replaced after only having vehicle 2 months. Air condition (a/c) fuse blew twice fan fuse blew once causing vehicle to overheat. Back doors stick shut. Back doors hinges rusted and bent causing squeaking and not completely to shut. Trans shifts hard and sometimes sticks. Engine light and overdrive light blinked trans was shifted by itself. Had trans flushed seems to be ok. Car shakes at high speeds. Tape player makes funny noises if used for long time. Gas mileage has been poor since car was purchased. Molding turned white. Car has had fuel filter replaced twice. Fuel sensor in tank replaced three times.

When royal sold us the car no information was given to us that the car has 5 problems,with it. On the window was a sign saying it had cruise control it doesn't. Also the finance company that is the holder has been really unprofessional. I had the car for only 4months had insurance they kept telling me I didn't,they send a man out to check for the third time. I went to my car to give him the information,he called the office of a. B. C. Finance to let them know I had insurance, starting joking with someone on the other line saying I had a knife to his throat. There was truth to that latter he returned to the office where he had learned the police were called to my home. Police knocked on my door with guns drawed ready to shoot. I was sitting with my daughter when they told us to keep our hands up,don't move. I'm on medication for depression so that didn't help matters at all.

Our kia Sephia 2000 is a lemon. We have had to replace the brakes four times because of premature ware and shaking due to poor design. We received the car with a dead battery. We are on our third battery. We were on our third set of tires before 30,000 miles. The gear shift will stick so that you can not take it out of park. The weather molding is falling off. Check engine light goes on and they could not keep it from coming on.

Automatic transmission had no engagement due to half shaft failure. Engine stalled at a stop due to transmission assembly failure. Brakes were noisy and were replaced, including the rotors. Engine will not start due to battery and starter failure.

I purchased the car in Aug. 1998, one month later the oil, battery, engine light came on. I had to get the car towed. As of March, 1999 I had to take the car in for brake failure on several occasions. I have all the service order slips. Sometime is July or August I had to call the tow truck again, car would not start. The tow truck driver said it was because of the a/c. I had a defective battery. As of July 31, 1999 I had no a/c took car in for services on Aug 4th. Repair done, not! as of Aug 6th no a/c . Bernickie had to order the hose. After several attempts to resolve this matter, on sept 9th I called service the hose finally came in. However, they were unable to fix the a/c due to some type of blockage they said. This car is still new, I 've only had it for one year. I need some feed back please.

Since the time that I have purchased this car it has been falling apart. The car is constantly shutting down or it just won't start. At this present time my car is sittting at stonemountain kia whereas it is in need a third battery all within less than a years time. Eventhough they know the dangerous history of this car that I purchased new, they continually return the car to me without doing a safety check. I have had my car towed to their location several times in the same week because they have felled to fix the problem. Once again my car is continually suffering from the same problems that are continuing to grow worst. The air conditioning system fails to work properly. The driveshaft is always sticking in the gears. The air bag light continually blink and stay on for periods at a time. The exhaust still making loud noise that I have complained about since I brought the car. The engine jerks and the car is burning a lot of gas. The battery acid continues to leak out into the car. The air vents broke just from a slight touch and so did the knob that control the air circulation. The car is constantly stalling. The car shakes badly when pressing on the brakes. Firestone refuses to work on kia's because they are aware of all the faulty system pertaining to kia's. Lation.

The consumer found out right after leasing the vehicle, that the radio was inoperable. The vehicle began squeeking in the rear end when turning. The heater malfunctioned. The left rear strut assembly failed causing knocking noise at right rear. The o-ring failed causeing the distributor leak and there was loss of power while driving.

Dashboard covering was separating from window. There was water in the headlights, and battery would go dead. Took vehicle to dealer. Vehicle needed alignment due to problem with transmission & the brake assembly needed replacing due to excessive wear.
