Dash Wiring Problems of Kia Motor Sephia

Electrical system under the dash has shorted out. The airconditioner, defrost, dash lights, are all unable to perform their duties. The fan blower is running constantly and no warning lights have issued a warning sign. The wires are bare and I have been told without replacing the entire assembly the car could catch on fire and blow-up the dash.

Dash has large brown burn spot on drivers side. This spot started as just a small spot and has over 6 months time continued to grow larger and larger. Now the entire dash is starting to lift up and curl up away from the windshield and the instrument control panel.

Consumer was driving the vehicle when the whole dash board came off. Dealer was not contacted at the time of this. Ts.

We have had many prblems with this car. First the orvr valve for the gas tank wead, then we have had prblems with the automatic door locks not opening or closing the other doors from the drivers side door, then the automatic windows on the passanger side both the front and back doors have gone up very slowly almost to the point of having to push them up by hand. Then a dash was replaced, do to it bubling up. We have a battery replaced once because the vehicle would not turn over at all. Also just recently we have the same problem, after only two weeks of the dealership that we took the vehicle to did a electrical check on the car and said that it was ok (tempe Dodge kia) located in temmpe, az. The reason we had them check the electrical system out was because after the replaced the dash we noticed that the indicator lights for the fan and the air flow selactor were dimming out and the a/c was running really slow at idle speed. All in all this car has been a nightmare and we haved cotacted kia mottors corp. Several times with no real answers to are problems and no compensation or upgrade of a warranty on the existing warranty. The top of the dash actually has a large burn scorch mark about the size of a grapefruit and the foam like material is bulging out, this is in the middle of florida's summer heat and vehicle has been parked outside of my work but a car only 3 years old should not have this type of damage, over years have owned old cars over ten years old before ever saw dash problems and nothing like this, dont know if this could have somehow ignited a fire or if dash is now loose compromising other equipment in the dash. I would also like to know of any other problems or recalls with this model. Thank you for your assistance.

Dashboard started to fold and bend out of shape. Dashboard is separating from around the instrument panel. Also turned the color brown on top of the dashboard.

A fire commenced under the dash. Insurance company has vehicle for inspection. Dealer/manufacturer notified.

This car has been, nonstop, 1 mech problem after another with kia CO & manuf claiming 'normal wear/tear or first heard of problems. ' your site shows that other consumers of same vehicle have all experienced same problems (esp brakes, battery, tires, steering column, fuel assembly). Kia & dealership unresponsive and unaccountable for products sold and represented- esp. Highly dangerous vehicle problems/defects. (dot number: 96737 tiresize: p185/65r14).

All indicator lights on instrumental panel come on and stay on at different times. Contacted dealer. This could be an electrical system short. Had different part replaced, problem still reoccurred.

Failure of front brakes 3 times, dash board wire harness failure causing dash board displays, starter wire harness failed and needed to be replaced, paint rubbing off and blistering, lowed noises/vibration under driver side when driving in wet condittions,, poor gas milage, faulty gas guage, broken right rear speaker, back right door weather gasket falling off for the third time, slopp steering responce during quick turns.

The first month I had car the ignition/steering locked and needed towing by kia-nothing charged to me. The check engine light has been coming on and staying on shortly after 'repair' ever since I bought car 3-28-1998. I just got "run-around' from western diversified/kia and independent repair shop over axles. Kia told me nothing covered after 36,000 mi. . After I thought I could send in bill for axles to extended warranty instead of calling at the time (male chauvinist mechanic) and after western diversified seeminly indicated axles part of routine maintenance (cv boot-didn't know were going bad) and I couldn't afford $200-300 for dealer to check car earlier-- dealers and kia then say I have 5/60 warranty on engine/trans and now won't cover axles because of independent mechanic touching car and he won't back up his 'warranty'. I just started full-time work not as a temp (but term) with CO I worked 5 1/2 yrs before. All my money is going alternately to car repairs then catch up on car pmts and ins and I still need to move and can't afford to and really steamed and writing to atty general about kia--y2k means yuck to kia.

Open wiring in the wiring harness caused the to be stuck on full reading.

Dashboard gets hot and is deteriorating above instrument panel.

Has been in 17 times and still need brakes and everything else. What a piece of junk !!manufactor refuses to honor warranty.

The check engine light came on and I had transaxle problems getting the car in gear . I also had problems getting keys from ignition switch part took two weeks and was relaced at dealership.

The vehicles dashboard seems to be breaking away from the windshield. Consumer is concerned the airbag may deploy unexpectedly. Please provide any further information. Ts.

While driving smoke started coming from under the dashboard, and the vehicle caught on fire.

Dashboard has come apart. Also, seals around airbag on passenger's side has lifted up, exposing parts underneath. Heater vent on dash has cracked, causing heater to become inoperative.

Dashboard is busting and burning to pieces into the airbag. Manuacturer will be notified.
