1 Engine Burning Oil problem

Failure Date: 01/18/2021

My engine light went on and I immediately took it to my mechanic. There was no oil in my car, even though the oil light never came on. Two independent mechanics said I need a new engine. Even though my engine has a lifetime warranty due to a class action suit, the kia dealership said they could not open a claim unless my engine seizes up, which can happen anytime, anywhere. I told them I do not feel comfortable allowing that to happen, and they again said there is nothing they can do, that kia is no longer covering excessive oil consumption as of Nov. 2020.

2 Engine Burning Oil problem

Failure Date: 12/28/2020

At 123k miles, my engine shut off in the middle of a mountain pass. Restarted with no issues except oil light flashed on then off. Checked the oil and I had no oil, completely dry. I have always done timely maintenance, have hauled a uhaul across country 5 years ago, never burned oil. Had the car checked for oil leaks and there are none. Researched the problem with burning g oil and across the board, regardless of the kia year, kia's cars have this problem, yet no recalls or acknowledgement feom kia that there is a major problem. Dealerships are lying to owners.

5 Engine Burning Oil problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2020

In approximately November 2020, my 2013 kia Sorento started using large amounts of oil in excess of 1 qt per week, when driving approximately 150- 200 miles' per week. Shortly after, I began smelling burning oil under the hood. I have taken the vehicle to a repair shop to find a leak, but none was found. One technician felt it could be a bad gasket, allowing excessive oil to enter the intake and burn there.

6 Engine Burning Oil problem

Failure Date: 09/12/2020

My engine is burning a large amount of oil. I take it in to do regular changes. I have a 2013 kia Sorento. It has 136000 miles just recently the oil light started coming on, checked the dip stick and it registers none. Its been taken for regular oil changes but burns up the oil before its time for a chsnge. I don't understand. Also ive seen numerous white Sorentos on the road and most of them have the same paint problem on the roof right above windshield. Its peeling off and getting worse. Also cracking around kia symbol on rear hatch. It started with rust spots then, cracking then paint peeling. The engine problem seems to be a wide spread problems with kia owners and the paint obviously is a defect from the factory. Love my Sorento but need these issues fixed.

7 Engine Burning Oil problem

Failure Date: 09/09/2019

The vehicle has high oil consumption, roughly one quart of oil per one thousand miles driven. Quick searches online have revealed this is a common problem.

8 Engine Burning Oil problem

Failure Date: 08/23/2019

Around 60,000 miles, my kia Sorento is losing oil without any signs of leak or burning. Just disappearing. Have completed 3 total 1,000 mile oil consumption tests at kia of west chester, PA and I have asked them to start a claim. It is losing at least a full quart after 1,000 miles. I continue to check oil, purchase quarts and am anxious with concern over the legal issues driving a vehicle with engine recalls and the chance of losing a life due to engine and connecting rod malfunction. 2nd owner and purchased Feb. 2017 from ardmore Nissan (ardmore, PA).

9 Engine Burning Oil problem

Failure Date: 03/04/2019

Car began burning excess oil at approximately 100,000 miles, began spewing blue and gray smoke when starting cold, at 111,000 miles took for diagnostic test at romeo kia kingston. Technician confirmed engine needs replacing. Although the 2. 0 liter and 2. 4 liter engines are covered under a current recall, this is a 3. 5 liter v6 engine. Contacted kia consumer affairs and was denied any assistance even though the issue is the exact same as is covered under the current recall. The car was well maintained and a modern day engine should not fail at such low mileage.

10 Engine Burning Oil problem

Failure Date: 02/24/2019

Excessive oil consumption at 92,000 miles.

11 Engine Burning Oil problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2018

My engine oil is disappearing. The dealer has checked twice and found no evidence of leak or signs of burning oil. After 2000 to 2500 miles the engine is completely out of oil with no oil light staying illuminated. The oil light blinks for a second and goes off and would be very easy to miss. I feel that this is directly related to the non collision fire issue that this same engine is having. If I were to not see the oil light blink, the car could be driven home and have a major failure. All maintenance except one oil change has been done by two local kia dealers and at proper intervals. I have owned the car since new.

12 Engine Burning Oil problem

Failure Date: 01/04/2017

Bought the vehicle new, have had no issues until about a month ago. It started burning oil at an excessive rate. Took it to dealer and were told that we had not maintained properly and that repair/replacement of engine would not be under warranty. Car has 71000 miles, owners manual says to change oil every 7500 miles or 12 months, we have records for 8 oil changes, kia says we need to show 14, that would be an oil change every 5000 miles which is not what manual says. We have been told that there was a recall for the same engine in another kia vehicle, but not for this one. Many complaints for oil related issues on this car for 2011-2014. We have also contacted the kia consumer affairs center. We are still driving vehicle, but check oil before we go anywhere. Dealer wants us to pay $350-$400 to completely tear down engine to take pictures to see if kia will cover under warranty.

13 Engine Burning Oil problem

Failure Date: 10/29/2013

The engine is making an unusual amount of noise in the engine. It also is burning up to 3 quarts of oil between changes. I know that there is a recall on this vehicle. I have had it back to the dealer four or five times for this problem with no help. They tell me if it locks up they will fix it but not until. This is not acceptable. What do I do?.
