Engine Stall problems of the 2013 Kia Motor Sorento

The engine is stalling, it's stalling at start and then it'll start up and stall after driving.

Daughter was driving car on city street, and engine stalled coasted to s stop. Recall for faulty machining on 2. 4 l 4cyl Kia Motors. Recall # sc147. Kia states that this VIN does not fall under the recall, but same issue as other 2013 kia's. Internet stated that all 2. 4 l 4cyl engines were covered by the recall for engine seizing up from bad machining.

My car was in park idling and the engine suddenly stopped. I was able to get it restarted and started to drive home and it felt like it was going to die. I applied pressure to the gas pedal and there was nothing and could not stop. The engine died with no lights or any warnings on. I had to have car towed to local mechanic due to the dealership being 50 miles away. He looked at it and stated that it was due to intermittent engine stall, that it should fall under kia recall and that I needed to get it to dealership. He tried to contact a local dealership and was not able to talk with anyone. He stated I needed to get it to a dealership. I had it towed to dealership to be looked at. It was put on diagnose, scanned with no codes coming up. He stated they drove it for awhile and nothing happen, cannot diagnose it. This is the third time that I had to have it taken to dealership for this reason after the engine was replaced (under the recall as well) and I cannot get anywhere with it. I am afraid that it will stall while driving on the highway with my grandbabies.

My car is 2013 kia Sorento. I bought this car Jan, 2014. My family experienced engine stall 4 times so far. Last one was yesterday. My wife drove at down hill and stop to make right turn. That moment, engine stopped. She said break work properly. So, engine seems stop after car fully stopped. But my wife didn't recognized stopped engine. When she released breaks. Car went down to main road. She pushed accel but car didn't go ahead. If there were any car coming. She couldn't avoid horrible accident. Than, she put on parking and start engine again. I have received 1 time engine module recall service. After that, engine stalled 2 times. This is over 30k car. But never reliable.

On Tuesday, August 30th, 2016, my husband was driving in our 2013 kia Sorento with our two toddlers when the car just stopped running with no warning whatsoever. He was going approximately 45 mph driving straight when the failure occurred. We lost all power including power steering so it took all he had to coast and pull over safely. He called kia who got a tow truck en route to tow the vehicle to our dealership. My dad had to come by to pick up my frightened girls while my husband waited with the vehicle (it took two hours). We have never had any major issues before with this vehicle and faithfully had it maintained through the dealership. The next day, the service department gave us news we were not expecting; the engine was blown as we broke a crankshaft. This vehicle only has 36,000 miles on it!! luckily this is covered under the warranty since they verified that it was properly maintained by them. Fast forward a week and we get the call tonight that kia has yet to release a new engine to be installed and they have no time frame.

During acceleration the engine rattles and jerks losing power until I take my foot off the gas pedal. Engine is attempting to stall.

Tl-the contact owns a 2013 kia Sorento. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 45 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the engine stalled as an unknown warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was shifted into park and the ignition was turned to the off position and back to the on position in order for the vehicle to restart. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the power train control module failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000. The VIN was unavailable. Sg.

First incident : after a full stop at red light, as car took off, engine stalled out. Had to try several times to restart engine. After restarted, the car drove fine. Second incident : after slowing down the car to about 3mph and reaccelerating, engine stalled out. After a few tries to restart the engine, it restarted and drove fine.

Engine stalled a total of 8 times while in motion since 6/13/12, the date of purchase of this new car. This car had been taken into the dealer multiple times. Kia has said it cannot diagnose the problem.
