In the past two weeks the warning lamp for front passenger seat remains lit up indicating airbag problem in that area second row seats clip areas to lift seats and allow entry to third row were very hard to operate and now malfunctioned and don't work at all to lift seats. This has been checked out by kia dealer last year to no resolve(they were able to lift seats up with great effort), but I am not able to get the seats lifted rendering access to 3rd row impossible for use.

I took my car into winn kia dealership in fremont, CA to have my recall completed which entailed seat belts and airbags. They claimed to have completed the recall and gave me my car back a few days later. A month or so later, they called and ask me to bring my car in so they could complete. After back and forth, they couldn’t confirm if the recalls were done and advised I take it to another sister dealership which I did. I took it to dublin kia and they confirmed via email that wynn kia in fremont, CA did not connect my seatbelts and air bags properly - they stated they missed that step when completing the recalls. I drove my car around with my 2 year old daughter niece and nephew in the car for over a month without seatbelts and airbags connected without knowing.

My passenger occupancy sensor needs to be replaced. I can not afford the $1170 kia is charging. My car’s warranty expired in March. The passenger air bag light came on in the ending of July 2023. I tried reaching out to kia but with no help. They said I have to pay out of pocket. I am really concerned for the safety of my family.

I took this car, my mom’s car, to a kia dealership yesterday for a diagnostic. I was told it had no air bags. I was really upset to find that out. I am not certain if we knew this when purchased years ago. This car was previously in an accident and we were told all the airbags were cut out. I wanted to to voice that I think it should be illegal to drive a car with no air bags. I think that information should be listed under a persons drivers license number and or VIN number. I called the driving safety unit with the dmv yesterday and they said they couldn’t do anything for me and to contact the department of consumer affairs for a complaint or the governor’s office. I am leaving my comments here instead. Thank you.

I have not had my car a year and the seatbelt light came on 2 days ago. I am keeping the services up and all of these things were supposedly passed during the inspection before I purchased my car. Also, the paint is peeling off the car. There are so many cars that has peeling paint when passing. Paint should not peel like that. I've never had this problem with any car I have purchased.

I experienced a deceleration when I stepped on the gas pedal to accelerate on the interstate. I was going 65mph at the time. The emission control warning light came on so I pulled off the next exit and called the kia dealer. I turned around and headed back to take it in for diagnostic service and repair when it started making noises so I pulled off onto an exit and the engine stopped shortly afterwards. I could turn the engine on but it would not go so I called aaa to have it towed to the dealer. The steering was difficult as well. The dealer said the engine needed to be replaced and the clock spring needed to be replaced (air bag warning light was on). This experience was dangerous and I was fortunate not to be in heavy traffic and in an area where there was a safe enough place to pull over. The car had 132,000 mi on it. The engine was replaced with a rebuilt 2014 engine but now the emissions control light just came on - not even a month has passed since replacement. I will take it in tomorrow for a diagnostic.

Vehicle engine shut down while I was driving on the highway situation was very dangerous other vehicles had to take evasive maneuvers in order not to collide with me I was very scared as I had my grand children with me the vehicle is currently at auto nation in keennesses georgia it is available for inspection there were no warnings or other indications.

My airbag light has been on for a while and I didn’t know until today that technically I shouldn’t be driving it. I learned that, if the light is on, there is a possibility that in the event of a collision the airbags may night deploy. I am financing this car from car shop and had to have a recall for the airbags be repaired. Is there any way to have this issue corrected without paying? I’d rather not die going food shopping.

During the crash the vehicle was destroyed but the air bags did not deploy. The contact sustained multiple rib fractures, lower back and right knee injuries and was transported to the hospital. The driver of the second vehicle had also sustained unknown injuries and was also transported to the hospital. The cause of the failure was not determined. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed away. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the incident. The failure mileage was 60,000.

2015 kia Sorento - airbag light came on. Mechanic diagnosed as a faulty clock spring assembly. Checked carfax for recalls and nothing came up with his error code, however, there is a recall for 2011-2015 Sorento airbag clock spring assembly. The same repair, but not coming up for my VIN #. Cost of repair is $$$$ out of pocket.

My 2011 kia Sorento caught fire while parked outside in parking lot overnight while I slept the police an fire department said my VIN had two active recalls on it it started fire on its own without even being driven now I’m out of a car.

After a routine oil change my air bag sensor light illuminated after turning the car on. Tried the reset, still on. I took it to a mechanic who told me this is a common problem with kia Sorentos. He also said that it is likely some sensor or the airbag itself and it being on it is very unsafe to drive because it won’t deploy if there is an accident. There has never been a collision or any other reason for this to occur other than faulty manufacturing. After researching I’ve found many posts of other Sorento owners with the same issue. All of them being required to pay a heavy amount for a fix that should be a safety recall. We all have paid a large amount for a “safe” vehicle. Common sense would say that it is kia’s responsibility to fix the issue, regardless of warranty. It isn’t a wear and tear, its lives and financial burden. I cannot afford to have it fixed, but it is my only vehicle. What am I supposed to do? please, get this recalled.

Airbag light is on and I need to know if that is a recall since there was a recall for many makes of cars due to air bags.

The anti lock button does not work, kia will not fix it, they stated that there recall on it was for locks that can move the car forward and backwards. I've never used my anti lock button its down beside the gear shift so the only way I can drive my SUV to put my car in drive, reverse etc to use the gear shift is by holding a screwdriver down in it the whole time and I complained to kia about that knows that but they won't do anything about it unless I pay out of pocket for something I've never even used since I had the vehicle/I'm not at fault for. I suddenly could not put my SUV back in drive after cutting my car off at my daughter school in 2022 bc of the anti lock button being stuck or something of that nature and kia done nothing about it since, they turned my down to fix n/or replace it. And my dashboard is cracking by the airbag on passenger side from the top all the way down unknowingly on its own. Also my engine light suddenly comes on and stays on for days then goes off and that happened on several occasions/ twice so far, kia was notified about it and said if its not jumping or flashing I'll have to pay to get it checked.

The air bag warning lamp is on caused by the malfunction of the clock spring in the steering wheel. None of the functions on the steering wheel work as well due to this malfunction. The air bag according to multiple sites may deploy at any given time.

October 19,2022 I was driving (cruise control about 70 mph) and hit a deer. The impact and damage was quite a bit however no airbags deployed. The car is still being repaired at blakely Chevrolet in blakely GA and they are having issues with airbag sensors.

Drivers side airbag illuminates intermittently, a/c smells like dried urine, has stuttered while driving on 2-3 occasions phone charging pad does not actually charge phone instead just maintains whatever battery life is already in phone before placed on pad. ,these are all issues within the first 30 days of purchasing certified pre owned kia Sorento on 8/15/22.

Time chain tensioner is faulty and camshafts have been updated the 2011 model. I just purchased a 2011 sorrento ex and it will cost 5000 to do the upgrade. The air bag has caused problems in the electrical systems of the horn. This cost 400 to replace airbag.

Air bag light stays on now….

Airbag light is on, indicating a malfunction with the srs. This is a common issue with this make and model from this year, with several thousand complaints online. Repairs are often over a couple of thousand dollars since this is such a common issue and complaint, I believe a recall should be issued due to faulty equipment, and the financial burden should not fall on the consumer. The issue began a few months ago, and has been checked by a mechanic. The mechanic has confirmed that there is an issue with the srs, and the airbag could potentially not deploy when expected, or could deploy without cause, which could cause an accident resulting in injury or death.

Pearl white paint is peeling off on both sides of windshield and hood. Air bag light stays on.

Airbag light stays on and the controls on steering wheel don't work.

I bought my Sorento used and the airbag light is lit on the front dash in both where the guages are and under the stereo. It doesnt matter if someone is in the seat or not. I found that there was a recall years ago so when I called kia they told me that my vehicle had been repaired and I told them it must not have been or the repair didnt work. They then told me the date of repair. Crazy thing is they were saying it had been repaired a year before the recall was announced. I said really. Knowing kia aint gonna pay for a repair that hadnt been part of a recall yet. Now with the newest recall its saying the brakelights might not come on when applied. But with my Sorento the brakelights wont turn off. No matter what you do even when you take the key out and lock the doors, the brakelights remain on. Right when this started the esc off light on the dash came on. The brakelights stayed on so much it apparently fried my battery. I got another battery and replaced the brakelight switch and started it up and it immediately wont idle correctly. It had idle fine before the brakelight issue.

4/18/22 while making a right turn in a residential neighborhood, the car abruptly stopped and engine shut down. The stop was so abrupt that it threw my body forward and now have shoulder and neck pains. No warning lights were illuminated prior to this incident, however, after the engine shut down, the airbag light was lit. I drove it home slowly, called the kia dealership in manteca, CA. Making arrangements to have the vehicle towed and have it examined. Two days prior, the ! light came on. I noticed that the passenger side headlight was out. That same evening when I started the vehicle up, the ! light was gone and the headlight worked. I addition, when having the light control kept on auto, the headlights remain on all the time. If this had happened in traffic or on the freeway, it may have had a different outcome.

Part failure. Electronic control module for air bag. Air bag warning lamp illuminated and remain lit on dash. Local autopartso’reilleys on board diagnostic tool reads two codes. B1620 internal fault- replace srscm and b1764 body sensor mat defect. This kia Sorento has had several repairs done via kia recall and safety campaigns. 2017 clean and seal and or replace rear wheel speed sensor housing … could and did illuminate esc abs and hill climb on dash… vehicle operated in southern louisiana . Air bag warning lamp. 10/10/2019, 147716 miles . Code found at kia performing clock spring assembly warranty extension code for high resistance. Replaced clockspring and cleared code. High resistance is key at this time. Also the cruise control began to function properly after the lamp turned off. May 28 kia letter concerning newly developed computer software for ecu, engine control unit. Repaired July 28 2021. June 2016, August 2019, kia Sorento airbag clock spring assembly warranty extension. Air bag illumination. These letters state the warranty extension will be 15 years and subsequent air bag illumination will be diagnosed at no charge for 15 years. Yet I have two codes, return to kia to validate and am charged for diagnostic as well, the air bag lamp still illuminated. Explained I need new srs module at cost of estimated $1200. Vehicle does not communicate with srscm. Recommend replace the airbag control module I ask, is it ossicle with new updated ecu as well as prolonged air bag illuminated due to high resistance from clock spring malfunctioning, could this feedback and prolonged exposure cause the airbag CO trip module to malfunction ? airbags are a safety issue. The electronics should not falter .

This product continually needs oil. The engine smells all the time as though it may be burning. I have spent hundreds of dollars on oil. It is not able to have consistent oil changes due to there often times being no oil in the veh to change. The low oil indicator never shows. Also, the brake lights are constantly blowing out. On one occasion a bulb burned into its housing and had to be pried out in order to replace it. I have complained to kia to no avail. It’s stopped twice. Yesterday most recently. It started shaking and making a clinking noise and shut off. It’s being towed to the dealership. Kia is aware of the fire potential and has sent written directives on where not to park.
