You can shift the car from park to reverse/drive without putting enough pressure on the brake peddle to actually engage the brake pads to the brake rotors. If you aren't pay attention to how hard you are pressing on the brake peddle, the call will start to move at a normal speed. I have taken the car to two kia dealerships and I have been told this is normal and safe. I feel that this is a huge safety issue. One dealership even checked other 2016 Sorentos on the lot and it was the same for them as well. This happens every day.

The contact owns a 2012 kia Sorento. While driving approximately 2 mph, the vehicle stopped abruptly when the brake pedal was depressed. The failure only occurred when driving in rainy weather conditions and snow covered roads. The dealer stated that the front driver side interior brake pad became stuck. In addition, the texture of the front rotor was smooth and shiny. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The VIN was unavailable. The failure mileage was unavailable.

I bought my 2011 kia Sorento preowned certified car on 12/07/2012, the next evening 12/08/2012 I was driving home from town and about one block before I got to my residence I heard a noise like something hit the bottom of the car. I then turned into my driveway and as I began to come to a stop I realized I had no brakes in turn hitting another persons car that was parked in my driveway. 911 was called because my son and myself were injured, as the fire department inspected the car he found on the drivers front wheel that most of the brake had fallen apart, the brake fluid was low also, later one of the brake pads was found on the road not far from my driveway none of the other missing parts were found. I have been trying to talk to kia and they don't seem to care nor have they tried to rectify the problem after a solid month. Today when I was looking up a phone # for yet another kia dept I found that there was a recall for 2011 kia Sorento for the exact same thing with my car. Kia's "preowned certified" program guarantees that the car went through a 150 point inspection brakes being a top priority. All they will say is they can fix my smashed car and thats it, I was lead believe I was buying a "certified 150 point inspected" car which was not the case. The car is not safe I want what I was told I was buying. Thank you.

When driving the vehicle on local and highways, the brake does not get activated unless you press the brake pedal all the way down which engages the vehicle in reducing speed but this takes too long. There is no reduction of speed if you press a little or in increments on the brake pedal, the only way the vehicle brakes is you hard press your foot down on the pedal and that takes too long to make it extremely dangerous. When I need to come to a sudden stop the brakes do not engage properly with delay response and I am pressing hard all the way down on the brake pad. I have taken the vehicle to different mechanics and even replaced brake shoes and brake pads, however this problem continues with vehicle taking too long to brake and not braking properly was a problem since I bought the vehicle. I have owned several vehicles in past and am very familiar with car braking systems and the response times needed to brake. The braking system on this vehicle is faulty and is unsafe and does not meet standards to approve this vehicle for safe driving.

Bought new 2011 kia Sorento in February and have 11,000 miles on it. I have taken it in several times for the push to start taking a bit to start. It seems as if sometimes it is not going to start. Took it in at 8000 miles and they said it was a brake sensor and the part was on back order. Just got that fixed with 11,000 miles on it. Took kia in this week for a noise in the front wheel because it sounds like the wheel is going to fall off. Problem was not fixed. Said kia was working to resolve issue with brake pad but that it was safe for me to drive and that nothing would happen. Not to happy about my service not getting taking care of when I take it in. Apparently they need to just replace our cars if they can't fix it. I don't appreciate buying a $27,000 car and being told that they are working on a solution. Very disappointed in my new kia already having all these problems and only 11,000 miles on it.
Car shakes when braking. Rear brakes pads worn down to 30%. Had rear rotors turned and new pads installed at 37,945 shaking reduced somewhat. At 41,252 had rear brake rotors replaced,(because they where warped) and brake pads replaced, car still shakes. Mechanic states problem is in the drive train which somehow binds-ups when braking and is destroying the rear bakes. Shakes.

Bought the vehicle brand new and noticed you have to depress the brake pedal all the way down in order for the vehicle to slow down and stop. Spoke to the dealership and they said all kia Sorento models are like this, you have to press hard down on the brake pedal for vehicle to slow down and finally stop and it takes a while for it to respond. Having owned several vehicles and driving for 15 years, I knew something was wrong with the vehicle braking system but I just dealt with it accepting the answer that kia Sorento brakes were not going to be as good as other brand brakes (Honda, Toyota, Mazda). I took the vehicle in for regular maintenance and always asked the engineers if they could do something about the brakes and how long it takes to brake (braking distance). I felt unsafe driving this vehicle and ultimately sold after replace brakes and shoe pads. The passenger airbag light was also faulty when an adult would be sitting there and it was not working. There was also a check engine light that would randomly come on as well as the tpms (tire pressure monitoring system). I took it to the mechanics and kia dealership and they would just turn off the lights but couldn't explain a reason for these turning on as the vehicle tires and engine were ok. I cannot understand why the braking system was allowed to pass on this vehicle when it was not able to stop at highway speeds in a acceptable time. I hope kia issues a recall on 2008 kia Sorento lx models to replace or fix the braking issues because it is very dangerous to be driving on the road and not being able to brake properly.
The contact owns a 2006 kia Sorento. The contact stated that the air conditioning failed to work during a heat wave. There were no warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel during this time. In addition, the clutch failed. New brake pads and rotors were installed and the contact must downshift in order to stop the vehicle. The vehicle has been taken to two dealers and two mechanics. The failure mileage was 9,000 and current mileage was 43,000.

: the contact stated while driving various speeds a noise and a vibration was noticed. Upon further inspection, unusual wear on the inner tread of the front tires was also noticed. The vehicle was driven to the dealer who could not duplicate the problem. Updated 9/11/2006 - the left front strut was noisy due to loose bottom strut bolt. The dealer tightened end and secured bolt. The consumer felt vibration in brake pedal when reversing and making turns. The dealer resurfaced the brake rotors and pads. The vibration returned. The dealer indicated that the rotors were warped and replaced them. The vehicle's engine made noise. The dealer adjusted all the belts. The cd player would not eject properly.
