The contact owns a 2023 kia Sorento. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph or higher, the vehicle was vibrating abnormally. However, approximately 2 months after the repair, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was returned to the dealer, and the contact was informed that the rotors had failed again and needed to be resurfaced. 3 Brake Disc Rotor problem of the 2006 Kia Motor Sorento

Failure Date: 12/06/2008

I have a 2006 kia Sorento, the rotors keep failing. As of this date I have had the rotors replaced twice and turned once. They need to be replaced again. The last time I had them replaced was in December 2008. On average I have to have them replaced or turned every 8 - 9 months. I have reported it to the bbb and to kia. Kia refuses to put it on recall stating that the safety highway commission has to request the recall. I am not the only one who has this problem but am the only one who is truly concerned. Please help me.

4 Brake Disc Rotor problem of the 2004 Kia Motor Sorento

Failure Date: 11/09/2007

Rotors warped. I experience shuttering when stopping at any speed. I plan to take into the shop this week for repairs. My friend with a Jeep cherokee had the exact same problem and Jeep issued a recall. Looking at the number of complaints I've found on this for kia Sorento, I feel kia should take the same action.

5 Brake Disc Rotor problem of the 2006 Kia Motor Sorento

Failure Date: 01/29/2007

Brand new 2006 kia Sorento - brakes started shaking after about 2,000 miles. At 8,000 miles the car would not stop. I was driving at about 45 mph and entering a turn lane. The light ahead was about to turn red. As I braked, it sounded like the wheels were spinning and the car would not stop. There was a heavy clanking noise and then the car finally stopped (while I was halfway into the intersection. ) when the light turned green, I gently applied the gas and the tires sounded like they were spinning again and the car would not move for about 3-5 seconds. I immediately took my car into the dealership. They called me 3 hours later and said the car was fixed. They replaced both front rotors and did not have an explanation as to why the tiles spun when I applied the gas at the stop light.

7 Brake Disc Rotor problem of the 2003 Kia Motor Sorento

Failure Date: 07/21/2006

I purchased my 2003 kia Sorento with 17,000 miles on it. I am the second owner. Since I have had this car, I have had to replace and/or resurface my rotors and brake pads at least 6 times in two years. I have talked to two kia dealerships (one in clarksville, TN - the other in memphis, TN) and both lied to me and said they didn't see that type of problem ever. I have taken my car to two other mechanics that I trust and they have turned my rotors, replaced my rotors with genuine kia parts and nothing seems to help. Just this week, I had to take my car in again. At that time, my mechanic talked to our local kia dealership, who then told him that they now see this problem frequently. I am tired of spending my own money on this problem that is obviously a kia defect. Kia knows this is a problem and something needs to be done. I will never buy a kia again. I only wish I had researched this problem before I bought my car. Then I would have found out that there was a class action lawsuit against kia at one time over their sephia having the same exact problems. My husband has a 1995 Ford ranger and we've never had to do any brake repair.

8 Brake Disc Rotor problem of the 2003 Kia Motor Sorento

Failure Date: 03/06/2006

Rotors warp and cause a vibration during braking. Front rotors had to be resurfaced at 18,000 miles. At 41,000 miles, front rotors had to be replaced and rear rotors turned. I am taking it in again at 51,000 because vibration has returned.

9 Brake Disc Rotor problem of the 2003 Kia Motor Sorento

Failure Date: 05/25/2005

We had a vibration in the front end of the car when we stopped. We took it to the local kia dealer. We were told that the rotors were warped. We bought the car new, it only had 33,000 miles on it. Was told that the rotors warranty was 5yr/50000 miles, but only on defects. Since most rotors wear out at 65k or 70k miles I said it was a defect. Dealer refused repair under warranty. Called kia national office, was told they can't make dealer do repairs, its up to the dealer to decide if warranty or not! kia does not back up the warranty's and will not support consumers.

10 Brake Disc Rotor problem of the 2003 Kia Motor Sorento

Failure Date: 04/01/2005

Rotors warping at 16000 miles causing high shudder at stopping. Repair by dealer at a cost and it is happening again at 27000 miles have talked to other Sorento owners and some have experienced same problem.

11 Brake Disc Rotor problem of the 2003 Kia Motor Sorento

Failure Date: 08/16/2004

Brake rotors are warping every few thousand miles. Within 16,000 miles of use, rotors have been resurfaced twice, and are in need of it once again. Although this condition is covered under warranty, kia refused to honor it.

12 Brake Disc Rotor problem of the 2004 Kia Motor Sorento

Failure Date: 07/14/2004

The contact owns a 2004 kia Sorento. The vehicle vibrates when the brake is depressed at 40 mph. The front rotors were warped and later resurfaced at 18,000 miles. The vibration duplicated approximately 6,000 miles after the resurfacing. The dealer replaced the front rotors, however the vibration recurred approximately 29,000 miles later. The dealer replaced the front rotors for the second time. Presently, the vehicle is beginning to vibrate again. The vehicle has not been back to the dealer for inspection. The current and failure mileage were 33,700 miles.

13 Brake Disc Rotor problem of the 2003 Kia Motor Sorento

Failure Date: 04/16/2004

At 12000 miles I have had to have the front brake rotors on my 2003 kia Sorento machined twice due to warping and resultant brake pulsing/vibration. Due to required rotor thickness, the next episode will necessitate rotor replacement. The need to do this at such low mileage indicates a severe deficiency, probably relating to faulty design or a metallurgical problem with the rotors. The Sorento is a new model and I suspect that as miles are accumulated this problem will become more evident fleet-wide. I am submitting this complaint due to the critical nature of the brake system and the high potential for disaster resulting from any kind of brake malfunction. There is anecdotal evidence that I am not the only Sorento owner encountering this difficulty.

14 Brake Disc Rotor problem of the 2003 Kia Motor Sorento

Failure Date: 04/09/2004

When depressing the brakes at low speeds vehicle vibrated. Consumer took the vehicle to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that the front brake rotors needed to be replaced. The consumer stated that the front brake rotors had been replaced on six separate occasions, and problem recurred.

15 Brake Disc Rotor problem of the 2003 Kia Motor Sorento
