On February 17, 2021 a vehicle pulled out in front of me on a highway causing me to slam the brakes so hard to avoid hitting the vehicle. After the vehicle proceeded across the road when I tried to continue forward my Sorento had very little power no matter how much I tried to give the vehicle gas. As I drove Sorento home it had very little power. I could barley get vehicle to go the 5 plus miles to my house traveling at least than 25 miles per hour. Possibly less than that and as I tried to drive up the hill to my house I barely got there. The vehicle did not have power to go up hill. Afterwards the vehicle would not start and stay on. . I had it towed to kia dealership where is has been for a week.

The contact owns a 2017 kia Sorento. The contact stated while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle would not start. The contact jump started the vehicle and took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who replace the battery however, the failure persisted. The contact had the vehicle towed to local dealer bill bryan kia (9039 us-441, leesburg, FL 34788) and was advised to not to leave the key in the vehicle to prevent future failures. The vehicle was returned however, the failure persisted. After five days, the contact had the vehicle towed back to the same dealer to be repaired however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 39,744.
Sometimes the car will not start. You have to take the transmission out of park and place into neutral, then place back into park again in order for car to start. I have taken vehicle to fairfax kia multiple times, but they say nothing is wrong. I am also able to place car in neutral without pressing on brake.

2nd complain for kia engine. Dec. 2017 my engine seized. I spent on 5grand for a rebuilt engine. Original complaint was electrical system did not give me any indication that there was an issue with my oil or engine. Driving down a main street where my car suddenly died. I had to pull off to the side of the road. I was able to restart it. Once it was restarted you can hear loud clicking from the engine. Fast forward to a year and 4 months later. Rebuilt engine on Feb 2018. . Car died again on 7/16/19. Once again no indication that there was a problem with my car. No oil light. I was driving on the highway when my car was not picking up on accelerating. I decided after work I put some oil into my engine. Schedule an appt with my mechanic to have my oil changed. The next day my car would not start. Had my mechanic tow my car and later tells me that it was my engine again. Stated he could find an engine for over 3grand for me. Unfortunately I do not have the money. I am now out of a car again with a newborn and trying to find rides to and from work. I just recently moved and cannot afford this. My VIN is not listed in the recalls and it should be. Kia has faulty engines and it is not just the one engine. Last engine failure was at 65000 miles. This time it is at 69000 miles. Why are my oil lights not coming on when there is low oil? why was this problem not fixed to begin with??? other problems with my car is my handle in the back seat pulled off (I am not that strong) electrical system (oil light not coming on, cruise control knocks out while driving, volume control for radio randomly calls contacts) kia is a lemon but I don't have the money to repair a 2nd and probably 3rd engine. I don't even trust my car with my kia dealership anymore because they are crooks and liars. I still have 10grand left to pay for this car!.

Vehicle will not start after sitting overnight. Replaced battery & after aprox 1 month issue has occurred again. No one has been able to diagnose the issue, the only answer I get is to replace the battery (which I did). The most recent occurrence was Jan 2016 & I have kept battery on a slow drip charger as I cannot wait on jump/tow daily.

On 12-25-2013, noticed that the side market lights remained on for several hours after the engine was shut off. Couple of days later, car wouldn't start after pushing on the key-less entry push button start. Car finally started after several push button attempts. Next day the car wouldn't stop after pushing on the key-less entry stop button. Engine finally turned off after several attempts by playing with the gear shift knob and driving around the neighborhood. "unable to stop the engine by pushing on the key-less entry push button stop" problem continued, so it was taken to the dealership. The dealership couldn't duplicate the problem, so the car was returned to us w/o a fix. Tomorrow I will be contacting kia main offices regarding this problem.
Since buying the 2014 kia fwd 4-cyl vehicle, I have had about 5 instances where the car would not start after I pressed the brake pedal and then the ignition switch. Kia and Hyundai had brake switch issues in models circa 2011 and earlier, but I could not find anything about whether kia fixed the problem in subsequent model years. During my incidents I have repeated the above steps trying to start the non-responsive vehicle until it inexplicably started up; took over 10 re-tries each time this problem occurred. I am taking the vehicle into the dealer on Monday 11/4/13 asking them to fix the problem.
I was driving 30 miles an hour when my car stalled out. I managed to pull over to the side of the road but was unable to get the car to start. The car was towed to the kia dealership where they replaced the main fuse panel and the fuel pump. The service manager said one shorted the other out and that it was a fluke. On 4/7/2013, the car would not start. Again, car towed to dealership where the same problem has occurred. Nobody, can tell me why this is happening and I am really nervous to drive the car again. . If the car stalls out while I'm driving on the highway, it could be disastrous. Kia is saying they haven't heard this happening with other vehicles, however, after coming to this site, it seems to be happening with regularity. Help. What are my rights??.
While attempting to start the vehicle it would not start. The 2012 Sorento has a push button start. The issue started the day we purchased the vehicle and it seems like it is a repeated issue. The kia dealer in omaha nebraska replaced the switch twice and the dealer in fairview hts, IL has replaced the same part at least three times. I'm thinking lemon. It is currently at the dealer in fairview hts, IL for the same issue again.
