Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Kia Motor Sorento based on all problems reported for the Sorento.
My kia Sorento was purchased from kia in 2018 - 1st - I had to take the car back to check the rear breaks due to a shaking of the car that happens when going over 50mph. The driver side head light goes out every couple months. Recently the battery light came one, after the battery was swapped (the car still wouldn't power on)- they ran a few tests and discovered an electrical issue. I have tan my VIN for the recall but my car doesn't seem to be eligible for any recalls that mention an electrical issue with the kia.

The headlights went out while I was driving on the highway going 70 miles per hour. I was getting ready to brake and turn and was unable to see anything outside of the vehicle. The lights were off for approximately 10 seconds.

The interior dome light and vanity lights do not work at all. It is not a fuse and not a bulb. The headlights also turn off without warning. I have replaced the bulbs too many times to speak of.

My headlights continue to blow out every 2 months, no matter what kind of bulb I replace them with. Both headlights will go out, brake lights are also blowing out every 1. 5 month. I brought it to my dealer: kia of ventura,CA attention but they keep dismissing it as nothing is wrong. I have been pulled over twice so far this year for both break stop & headlights blowing out and not working during night time road travels across states. I feel this is. Very dangerous. Apparently, this isn't an isolated incident as I have come to know of 50+ kia Sorento owners facing similar electrical safety issues. Also, ever I bought the car the mile per gallon the car is supposedly to give isn't correct, it only averages about 12-14 mpg. Please look into both of these safety issues as I drive with two under 5yrs kids and elderly mother. What is the NHTSA waiting for? multiple death fatalities before your organization takes action. . Do it now please. Any resulting fatalities will make you legally liable for failing to take action after soo many complaints.
Headlights turn off while driving on highway and city streets. Service on 3-23-20 and could duplicate problem. On 9-25-20 driving and dash board indicator switching from flashers on, headlights going from auto set, to off, to running lights, and door locks locking and unlocking. Scheduled service for 10-20-20, but was told if they can not duplicate problem may not be able to repair.

My headlights continue to blow out every few weeks, no matter what kind of bulb I use. Last night while on a very dark and rainy road, both headlights went out forcing me to drive with my hazards with my children in the car. Very dangerous. Apparently, this isn't an isolated incident.
Lighting has went out multiple times, both headlights and now turn signals. When headlight go out, it often melts the light bulb socket and burns wires. When the turn signal went out, the bulb burning out caused the computer to short out, by design according to the service technician. Lights randomly go out without warning, often flickering, especially when hitting bumps.

One headlight continues to go out. I had it fixed several times and the mechanic said that it is an electrical problem because everytime they change the bulb it is melted inside. It will stay lit for a day and then go out again. Also, my heated seats stopped working and outlers to plug in my car charger in the front under the radio have stopped working as well. I have had it looked at and when we think its fixed it immediately stops working. This is been ongoing for over a year.
Vehicle will accelerate and then lose power. Took it in they said not covered under warranty. 450. 00 to fix tailghts and headlights all went out within a week of each other. Wheels sensors keep saying low tires even after new tires out on.
When vehicle is in motion the headlights will randomly turn off when on the auto setting. This has happen multiple times since we purchased this vehicle and is a serious accident waiting to happen. I have viewed multiple reports of this issue online from other owners. This has happen on the highway and city streets where the roads have no lighting.
Passenger side headlight bulb went out. Went to replace bulb and the connector was melted.

While driving at night while my headlights are in auto position they will randomly turn off for a few seconds and then click back on. This has happened twice in one week. The last time, was while driving 70 mph down the interstate and my headlights went out without warning.
Front headlight failed, upon inspection the harness wire to headlight burned and melted and brake lights don't work when the head light wire burned. This is major safety issue without brake lights. Went to computer and this problem is all over the internet, exact same issue happening to kia owners of numerous models. Apparently kia installed a odd system that controls headlights and burns out wiring . Very dangerous issue causing to vehicle to lose brake lights as well. Took car to dealership but they won't repair this safety problem creating a expensive repair for owner for a badly designed arrangement. This problem occurred when driving at night on I 95 in delaware this is not a isolated incident but it's all over the internet happening only on kia vechicles.

The contact owns a 2011 kia Sorento. While driving 30 mph, the air bag warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (jim ellis kia of kennesaw, 1221 auto park drive northwest, kennesaw, GA 30144) where it was diagnosed that the clockspring needed replacement. The contact stated that the clockspring was replaced, but was concerned that the air bag inflator was not also replaced. The contact was also concerned that the vehicle might have an electrical failure because the headlights failed to illuminate and the headlight bulbs had been replaced several times. The same dealer stated that the air bag warning indicator would remain illuminated because there was also a failure with the air bag sensor in the seats. The contact stated that the air bag sensor in the seats was not repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and informed the contact that she would be responsible for the cost of the air bag seat sensor replacement. The failure mileage was 96,000.
Air bag light on, headlights will turn off when in auto mode when I use left turn signal steering wheel controls not working or work improperly ie volume control will change radio station or advance track on media back up camera will black out while still in reverse.
Passenger side headlight went out, when I went to replace it the plastic plug was melted! bought a new plug and wired it in.
Tl- the contact owns a 2011 kia Sorento. The contact stated that the passenger side fog light failed to illuminate and was replaced. Shortly after the first failure with the lighting, the drivers side head light failed to illuminate as well. The contact was uncertain as to what was causing the internal electrical failure affecting the head lamp assembly. The vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic who diagnosed that there was an internal short within the head light assembly unit, the vehicle needed to be taken to a dealer to receive a remedy to repair the vehicle. The dealer kia fargo (3901 2nd Ave s, fargo, nd 58103, 888-569-7621) was contacted and the contact was waiting to determine when they may schedule an appointment to diagnose the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, indicated that the vehicle was out of the 5 yr 60,000 warranty and to have a dealer diagnose and repair the vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000. Dyd.
The contact owns a 2012 kia Sorento. While driving approximately 60 mph, the passenger side low beam headlight failed. The contact had to switch to the high beams in order to get home. The same failure occurred three other times on the same side of the vehicle. The contact drove the vehicle to the dealer where it was determined that the manufacturer utilized the wrong size wire. The vehicle has been at the dealer three times for the same failure this month and the harness had to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 56,500.
Radio cuts on and off at will. Mostly off. Headlights go out often. Both of these things happen while moving and while sitting still. It has happened while driving and sitting in the driveway.
I was driving to work at 55 mph and all the lights on the dash came on and my head lights shut off. My car restarted right after that and now it has done it three times since then. I am nervous when I drive because, I fear I will be stalled somewhere and it will be winter. I drive 47 miles one way to work. I am seriously thinking of trading the car off. I know I won't get anything for it but, at least I will be safe. We were told by kia that if the car shuts off it is resetting the computer and they will be unable to diagnose if a dummy light doesn't stay on. I see there are more complaints about the same issue I am having with my kia and I think kia should do a recall on them. This is a serious issue and I think it needs to be resolved ASAP.
I purchased this car in new in 2006 I have replace four tail lights and as of today when the head light went out this will be the fifth headlight, I am afraid for my daughter to park in the garage in case it should set the house on fire, there is obviously a short in the electrical system.

My 2006 kia Sorento has 96000 miles on it and it seems that the head light or electrical system has a short in it. The head light will go off but you if you tap the head light assembly it will come back on as if there is a short in the electrical system. Also, the dome light will come on if you turn it to the on position but if you put it on the door position it does not come on when the door is open. Again that would be a failure in the electrical system. The kia will not start after replacing a headlight bulb. I know that sounds like they are not related but the head light went out so I replaced it and then I wouldn't start right after changing the light.
I purchased my 03 kia Sorento in 2004 and have had many issues since then. I have had to replace lights from the front to the back numerous times. I've been driving down our remote country road at night and had my headlights go out. My coolant tank cracked and left me stranded on another country road in the snow last year. I later found out it was recalled for that particular defect; after I had it replaced. The lighting issue is my biggest concern right now because of where I live (remote country roads, deer at night, etc) I have to have properly functioning headlights at all times. Now, I am having problems concerning the bearings on it. It makes a horrible screeching noise that is now; almost continuous. It doesn't matter the temperature outside, driving conditions, etc. It has become harder to steer and the power steering fluid is fine. I don't feel safe in this vehicle anymore, and I cannot afford to just go out and buy something new. I just ask that if fault lies with kia; then they should fix it at their expense. . . . Not mine! I have invested way too much time, money and patience thus far and feel it's kia's responsibility to make sure they create a vehicle that functions properly. And when they don't. . . Fix it!!! as for the questions below; was there a fire?. . . Not yet!!! was there property damage?. . . . There probably will be when my bearings go out and the wheels fall off! where there any deaths or injuries?. . . . Dear lord, I pray every time I get in my truck that nothing like that ever happens to me or my son. . . . But; with an unreliable vehicle that has constant electrical and mechanical problem; then who knows. . . .

Headlights both sides will go out on regular basis without warning -dash lights go out on regular basis-a/c unit will short out causing burn smell -window switches and tail lights will stop working on regular basis I have found many complaints about these problems.
The contact owns a 2005 kia Sorento. The contact stated that there was a burning odor of wires present in the vehicle and the headlights failed. In addition, the air conditioner failed and that the four wheel drive would not engage. The failure recurred on multiple occasions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the compressor failed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000.

Tl-the contact owns a 2006 kia Sorento. The contact stated that the headlights low beam failed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection. The inspection advised the an electrical shortage was causing the low bean to fail prematurely. The low beam bulbs were replaced numerous times. However, the failure was not corrected. The manufacturer was not notified. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000. Li.
We have a constant problem with headlight bulbs. I have tried every available brand at local automotive stores from the least expensive to the most expensive with the same results. They last about 4 months at best. There is a dealer available "fix" which includes a new wiring harness. Kia will not fix this at no cost. There has been 4 times in the last 3 years that the headlight has failed during late night driving. I replaced the blown bulb and within hours the opposite side failed. Had both failed at the same time it would be a serious problem. At the dealership (three) they said "yea a lot of people have this issue" my other vehicles bulbs last on average 5 times longer - or more.
In less than a year consumer headlight went out and the back hatch window was leaking inside the vehicle every time it rained. The headlight assembly was replaced on November 30, 2004 and five minutes after the new bulb was installed it shattered. On that same date the consumer experienced problem with the clock and hvac indicators. Updated 03/30/07.

Headlights, brake light, interior light, radio, have all failed multiple times. I replace headlights and break lights every three months. I have had both headlights go out, one before I could get the other fixed. None of the dome lights work, I have no automatic lighting in the car. They dim based on weather and the terrain I am driving on. The radio went out shortly after I bought it, and the same thing happened shortly after. Sometimes it works and sometimes the car has to be running for a while before it will work. So many problems.
